    Hi, when generating python wrappers with swig the python wrapper classes in the generated python file do not have an explicit self parameter, for example see below: class PySwigIterator(_object): def value(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_value(*args) def incr(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_incr(*args) def decr(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_decr(*args) def distance(*args): return _spatiotemporalnmf.PySwigIterator_distance(*args) I am developing with the eclipse pluging Pydev. Pydev always shows an error when it detects a method without explicit self parameter. I am aware of two methods to get rid of the errors: First, disable error checking for the whole project in the Pydev preferences. Second, add a #@NoSelf to every line with an error. I don't want to use the first one, because I still want to get error warnings for my non-swig-generated files. Obviously the second one is also not very good, because I would have to do it by hand and every time I generate the file again, all #@NoSelfs will be gone. My Question now is, is there a better way to achieve this? Thanks

    What do I want to achieve: I want to perform some time consuming operations from my MDI winforms application (C# - .NET). An MDI child form may create the thread with the operation, which may take long time (from 0.1 seconds, to even half hour) to complete. In the meantime I want the UI to respond to user actions, including manipulation of data in some other MDI child form. When the operation completes, the thread should notify the MDI child that the calculations are done, so that the MDI child can perform the post-processing. How can I achieve this: Should I use explicit threading (i.e., create explicit threads), thread pools? Or simply just propose your solution. Should I create foreground or background threads? And how does the thread communicates with the GUI, according the solution you propose? If you know of a working example that handles a similar situation, please make a note.

  • Transitioning accordions from small height to full height with CSS

    I am building an accordion list and I want it to animate open and closed using a CSS -webkit-transition:. The animation is triggered by an event handler that simply toggles the .open class on and off. The problem is that when I click it, the animation goes from closed height to 0px height then jerks back to full height instead of smoothly animating to full height.   • How do I get ELMAH to work with SQL Server (permission problems)

    I've got ELMAH working on my (Cassini) development server, and was quite happy with it, but now that I'm trying to move everything to my production server (IIS7), the honeymoon looks like being over. I've got past the "gotcha" with IIS7, which frankly could have been better highlighted in the documentation, and if I just use the in-memory log then it works. However, I'm trying to get it to use the SQL Server log (as I do on my development system), and I'm getting an error along the lines of: The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object ELMAH_GetErrorsXml Well, fine. I know how to grant database permissions, but I'm really struggling to understand which user and which stored procs/tables I need to grant access to. The thing that's really confusing me is that I didn't have to do anything like this to get it to work on my development server. The only difference I can see is that on my development server it seems to connect as NT AUTHORITY\IUSR, whereas on my production server it seems to connect as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. (It's just using a trusted connection so I've not explicitly configured it to do that - I presume it's to do with the web server). UPDATE: I've since established that because I'm using Cassini, it was actually logging in as me (an admin) and not IUSR, which explains why I didn't get any permission problems. On my development server, the IUSR account is a member of the public database role, and has access to the required database (again as "public"). There's no explicit granting of object-level permissions. [See update above - this is irrelevant]. On my production server, I've added NETWORK SERVICE in exactly the same way (public database role, explicit access to the database as "public"). Yet, I get this permission error. Why?!! [See update above - the only reason I don't get a permission error is because I'm running as an admin]. And, of course, if the fact that it works locally is just "luck", I will need to know which SPs/tables to grant access to. My guess would be all 3 SPs and not the table, but it would be good (again) to see some documentation that makes this explicit.

    Hi all, For a new project, we need to use WF 4.0 for deploying and running workflows. Instead of hosting workflows within the application itself, we decided to implement a server-side component that is in charge of running workflows. Before WF 4.0, one had explicit access to the the runtime engine (WorkflowRuntime), which provided some basic management functionalities, such as retrieving the workflows currently running etc ... As far as I could find out, WF 4.0 lacks this explicit access, as workflows are created via the WorkflowInstance class and no reference is immediately available to the WorkflowRuntime ... If I need these management functionalities on the server side, I'm a correct that I will need to implement these myself? Or did I miss out on something ... Thanks in advance for your answers!

For example: float f = (1/3)*5; cout << f; the "f" is "0", because calculation's constants(1, 3, 10) are integer. I want to convert integer calculation with a compiler directive or parameter. I mean, I won't use explicit casting or ".f" prefix like that: float f = ((float)1/3)*5; or float f = (1.0f/3.0f)*5.0f; Do you know any c/c++ compiler which has any parameter to do this process without explicit casting or ".f" thing?

  • c++ Using const in a copy constructor?

    I have never written copy constructor, so in order to avoid pain i wanted to know if what i have coded is legit. It compiles but i am not sure that it works as a copy constructor should. Also do i have to use const in the copy constructor or i can simply drop it.     I'm trying to use member variables of a templated base class in a derived class, as in this example: template <class dtype> struct A { int x; }; template <class dtype> struct B : public A<dtype> { void test() { int id1 = this->x; // always works int id2 = A<dtype>::x; // always works int id3 = B::x; // always works int id4 = x; // fails in gcc & clang, works in icc and xlc } }; gcc and clang are both very picky about using this variable, and require either an explicit scope or the explicit use of "this". With some other compilers (xlc and icc), things work as I would expect. Is this a case of xlc and icc allowing code that's not standard, or a bug in gcc and clang?

    Hi! I have a directory in which I keep adding different C++ source files, and generic Makefile to compile them. This is the content of the Makefile: .PHONY: all clean CXXFLAGS = -pipe -Wall -Wextra -Weffc++ -pedantic -ggdb SRCS = $(wildcard *.cxx) OBJS = $(patsubst %.cxx,%.out,$(SRCS)) all: $(OBJS) clean: rm -fv $(OBJS) %.out: %.cxx $(CXX) $(CXXFLAGS) $^ -o $@ NOTE: As is obvious from above, I am using *.out for executable file extensions (and not for object file). Also, there are some files which are compiled together: g++ file_main.cxx file.cxx -o file_main.out To compile such files, until now I have been adding explicit rules in the Makefile: file_main.out: file_main.cxx file.cxx file.out: file_main.out @echo "Skipping $@" But now my Makefile has a lot of explicit rules, and I would like to replace them with a simpler implicit rule. Any idea how to do it?

    I understand that placement new calls are usually matched with explicit calls to the destructor. My question is: if I have no need for a destructor (no code to put there, and no member variables that have destructors) can I safely skip the explicit destructor call? Here is my use case: I want to write C++ bindings for a C API. In the C API many objects are accessible only by pointer. Instead of creating a wrapper object that contains a single pointer (which is wasteful and semantically confusing). I want to use placement new to construct an object at the address of the C object. The C++ object will do nothing in its constructor or destructor, and its methods will do nothing but delegate to the C methods. The C++ object will contain no virtual methods. I have two parts to this question. Is there any reason why this idea will not work in practice on any production compiler? Does this technically violate the C++ language spec?

    I recently had a fun time trying to debug a permission issue I ran into using TFS 2010’s TfsConfig. Update 5th March 2010 – In its style of true excellence my company has added rant to its “Suggestions for Better TFS”. <rant> I was trying to run the TfsConfig tool and I kept getting the message: “TF55038: You don't have sufficient privileges to run this tool. Contact your Team Foundation system administrator." This message made me think that it was something to do with the Install permissions as it is always recommended to use a single account to do every install of TFS. I did not install the original TFS on our network and my account was not used to do the TFS2010 install. But I did do the upgrade from 2010 beta 2 to 2010 RC with my current account. So I proceeded to do some checking: Am I in the administrators group on the server? Figure: Yes, I am in the administrators group on the server Am I in the Administration Console users list? Figure: Yes, I am in the Administration Console users list Have I reapplied the permissions in the Administration Console users list ticking all the options? Figure: Make sure you check all of the boxed if you want to have all the admin options Figure: Yes, I have made sure that all my options are correct. Am I in the Team Foundation administrators group? Figure: Yes, I am in the Team Foundation Administrators group Is my account explicitly SysAdmin on the Database server? Figure: Yes, I do have explicit SysAdmin on the database Can you guess what the problem was? The command line window was not running as the administrator! As with most other applications there should be an explicit error message that states: "You are not currently running in administrator mode; please restart the command line with elevated privileges!"     Does having a live chat feature on a website increase conversions enough to cover the cost administration? Most of the data I have found comes from companies selling live chat solutions and is unreliable in my opinion. Do users find this as a valuable feature or an annoyance? Personally, I'm annoyed by sites that use live chat especially when a little box pops up without my explicit request, but if users find this valuable then I should consider implementing it. Any concrete data is appreciated.
