    Sorry if these are stupid questions but I couldn't find answers :( Is there any way to set the display name of the application which is shown on iPhone and on iTunes different? The name that I wrote to "Display bundle name" in info.plist is shown both on iTunes and iPhone, is there any way to separate them? My second question is: how can I change the genre of my application? Now it's "Unknown Genre".

  • Connecting my iPhone to iTunes causes my Acer laptop to crash

    Hello I have an Acer Travelmate 8200 laptop and whenever I connect my Iphone to it, it crashes with the BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death). I have figured out that if I delete all the pictures in my phone I can get it to connect but that is not a ideal long term solution. I also read that it may be a conflict with the built in web-cam I have but I've upgraded the driver and I still get the crashing problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated!     I'm a little confused about iTune's ability to set eq presets on a per-song basis. I have a song that I open, set to a given EQ preset, then close. When I play this song, however, the audio isn't being adjusted. If I open the EQ and turn it 'on', though, it then obeys the song's eq setting. Of course, if I leave the EQ on, then songs that do not have their own EQ setting default to whatever the EQ was originally set at. Not a HUGE deal, but it means that I would then normally have to have EQ always turned on, set to flat, so that any song that I HAVE given a EQ setting to will use it. Am I understanding how that works correctly? Is there a way to have individual songs use their EQ setting without having to turn on the EQ for everything?

    I made an application that parse the iTunes library to retrieve its content. It works fine in most cases but if a user moved his library somewhere else than the default iTunes folder (see: http://lifehacker.com/238296/ultranewb--how-to-move-your-itunes-library-to-an-external-drive), then I need a way to find this path. On Mac, I was looking into ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist. There is a setting called "alis:1:iTunes Library Location" but it contains several parameters all concatenated and converted to hexadecimal. On Windows, I found this file "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml" that contains a setting "iTunes Library XML Location:1" but this one is encoded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi, iTunes Visualizer plugin in C#. Easiest way to compute the "energy level" for a particular sample? I looked at this writeup on beat detection over at GameDev and have had some success with it (I'm not doing beat detection per se, but it's relevant). But ultimately I'm looking for a stupid-as-possible, quick-and-dirty approach for demo purposes.   • Why does iTunes sometimes loose everything in the library when upgrading?

    All of my kids have experienced problems at one time or another, when upgrading iTunes on their laptops. The version number doesn't matter, as this has happened for the last couple of years, so the version number has changed. It isn't consistent. What is consistent is sometimes, but not always, after upgrading iTunes, it will have lost all of it's information about the music, podcasts, etc, that it had. And yet if I bring up Windows Explorer, I can find all of it there. It's a pain to have to recover that. The pertinent question is, how do you recover all of the music, podcasts, playlists, etc, that is on the computer, but iTunes doesn't show it in the library? Second, what causes iTunes to do this in the first place?

Is there any way to save myself entering in all the subscriptions individually on my new computer, by maybe exporting the podcast list as an OPML file, or otherwise saving that list out of iTunes?

    I am one of those people who hate to have even one unnecessary program installed. I noticed when I downloaded and installed itunes two other components were installed and shows up in my control panel Uninstall programs screen: "Bonjour" and "Apple Mobile Device Support". Are these two necessary for itunes to work? I never buy songs via itunes, just use the program to transfer smp3s to my ipod.

    I have a roughly 2 year old Macbook (10.5). I have iTunes 10. When iTunes is playing MP3s, I see CPU usage of the iTunes process in the system monitor ranging from 65%-75%. When I pause the music, I see CPU usage of about 65%-75%. I do not have any visualisations going, to my knowledge I have not turned on any CPU destroying features, my music library isn't tiny, but it's hardly huge (3GB). This is mildly annoying when I'm plugged into the wall as I only have slightly longer compile times, but if I am out and about, this is a major drain on the battery. Using VLC I see CPU loads of ~= 10% at the most when listening to music and generally lower. What the heck is iTunes doing?

  • How do I make my play/pause keyboard button work correctly in iTunes 10 on Windows?

    First and foremost, I have mmKeys installed correctly. My iTunes works almost perfect while minimized to the tray. My problem is with the play/pause button on my Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000. When iTunes does not have focus (like it's minimized, or if it isn't the application I'm active in, like right now while typing this) the play pause button toggles twice. So, I'll push the pause button - and the song that is playing will pause, but a split second later will start up again. If the song is paused, and I push play, the song will immediately pause again. In order to get the key to work correctly, I must give iTunes focus, and then push the button.
