  • Google Map only showing Grey Blocks on load - Debug Cert has been obtained

    - by Tom
    I am attempting to follow the Google Map View under the views tutorial for the Android. I have followed step by step but still only see grey blocks when viewed. First: I created a Virtual Device using "Google API's(Google Inc.) Platform 2.2 API Level 8" Second: When creating my project I selected "Google API's Google Inc. Platform 2.2 API Level 8". Third: I obtained the SDK Debug Certificate Fouth: Began Coding. Main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <com.google.android.maps.MapView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/mapview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:clickable="true" android:apiKey="0l4sCTTyRmXTNo7k8DREHvEaLar2UmHGwnhZVHQ" / HelloGoogleMaps.java package com.example.googlemap; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import com.google.android.maps.MapView; import com.google.android.maps.MapActivity; public class HelloGoogleMaps extends MapActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); } @Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { return false; } } HelloGoogleMaps Manifest: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.example.googlemap" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> <activity android:name=".HelloGoogleMaps" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/> </manifest> Any thoughts?? Thanks!

  • How to find which annotation send showDetails?

    - by Voloda2
    How to find which annotation send showDetails? MKPinAnnotationView* customPinView = [[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:BridgeAnnotationIdentifier] autorelease]; customPinView.pinColor = MKPinAnnotationColorPurple; customPinView.animatesDrop = YES; customPinView.canShowCallout = YES; // add a detail disclosure button to the callout which will open a new view controller page // // note: you can assign a specific call out accessory view, or as MKMapViewDelegate you can implement: // - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)view calloutAccessoryControlTapped:(UIControl *)control; // UIButton* rightButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showDetails:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; customPinView.rightCalloutAccessoryView = rightButton; return customPinView; - (void)showDetails:(id)sender { some code }

  • Not found in protocol

    - by Alex
    I've subclassed MKAnnotation so that i can assign objects to annotations and then assign this object to a view controller like so: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)view calloutAccessoryControlTapped:(UIControl *)control { PlaceDetailView *detailView = [[PlaceDetailView alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; detailView.place = [view.annotation place]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailView animated:YES]; [detailView release]; } This is working great but i'm having the following issues: If i try and access the place getter method like so view.annotation.place i recieve an error: Accessing unknown place getter method If i acces the place getter method like so [view.annotation place] i receive a warning: place not found in protocol From my understanding this is because the place object is not defined in the MKAnnotation protocol, although i'm aware of this i'm not sure how to tell the complier that place does exist and it's not calling it blind.

  • best way to use CoreLocation across multiple views

    - by Matt
    I have two views in my app, one is a general view where CoreLocation works away calculating the users location while the user is doing other stuff in the view. The second view is accessed by the user when they touch a button allowing them to locate themselves more accurately using a mapview and MapKit, i would like the mapview in this view to show the location that CoreLocation has already identified in the first view AND to continue displaying this location based on updates from CoreLocation in the other view. Is the best way here to create a singleton that encapsulates the CoreLocation stuff and have this referenced in the view with the map, or to use notifications ? or to use some other better practice for my scenario ? Thanks

  • Easily use google maps, openstreet maps etc offline.

    - by samkea
    I did it and i am going to explain step by step. The explanatination may appear long but its simple if you follow. Note: All the softwares i have used are the latest and i have packaged them and provided them in the link below. I use Nokia N96 1) RootSign smartComGPS and install it on your phone(i havent provided the signer so that u wuld do some little work. i used Secman' rootsign). 2) Install Universal Maps Downloader, SmartCom OGF2 converter and OziExplorer 3.95.4s on my PC. a) UMD is used to download map tiles from any map source like googlemaps,opensourcemaps etc... and also combine the tiles into an image file like png,jpg,bmp etc... b) SmartCom OGF2 converter is used to convert the image file into a format usable on your mobile phone. c) OziExplorer will help you to calibrate the usable map file so that it can be used with GPS on your mobile phone without the use of internet. 3) Go to google maps or where u pick your maps and pan to the area of your interest. Zoom the map to at least 15 or 16 zoom level where you can see your area clearly and the streets. 4) copy this script in a notepad file and save it on your desktop: javascript:void(prompt('',gApplication.getMap().ge tCenter())); 5) Open the universal maps downloader. You will notice that you are required to add the: left longitude, right longitude,top latitude, bottom latitude. 6) On your map in google maps, doubleclick on the your prefered to most middle point. you will notice that the map will center in that area. 7) copy the script and paste it in the address bar then press enter. You will notice that a dialog with your (top latitude) and longitude respectively pops up. 8) copy the top latitude ONLY and paste it in the corresponding textbox in the UMD. 9) repeat steps 6-7 for the botton latitude. 10)repeat steps 6-7 for left longitude and right longitude too, but u have to copy the longitudes here. (***BTW record these points in the text file as they may be needed later in calibration) 11) Give the zoom level to the same zoom level that you prefered in google maps. 12) Dont forget to choose a path to save your files and under options set the proxy connection settings in UMD if you are using so. 13) Click on start and bingo! there you have your image tiles and a file with an extension .umd will be saved in the same folder. 14) On the UMD, go to tools, click on MapViewer and choose the .umd file. you will now see your map in one piece....and you will smile! 15) Still go to tools and click on map combiner. A dialog will popup for you to choose the .umd file and to enter the IMAGE file name. u can use another extension for the image file like png, jpg etc...i usually use png. 16) Combine.....bingo! there u go! u have an IMAGE file for your map. *I SUGGEST THAT CREATE A .BMP FILE and A .PNG file* 17) Close UMD and open SmartCom OGF2 converter. 18) Choose your .png image and create an ogf2 file. 19) Connect your phone to your PC in Mass Memory mode and transfer the file to the smartComGPS\Maps folder. 20) Now disconnect your phone and load smartComGPS. it will load the map and propt you to add a calibration point. Go ahead and add one calibration point with dummy coordinates. You will notice that it will add another file with extension .map in the smartComGPS\Maps folder. 21) Connect yiur ohone and copy that file and paste it in your working folder on your PC. Delete that .map file from the phone too because you are going to edit it from your PC and put it back. 22) Now Open the OziExplorer, go to file-->Load and Calibrate Map Image. 23) Choose the .bmp image and bingo! it will load with your map in the same zoom level. 24) Now you are going to calibrate. Use the MapView window and take the small box locater to all the 4 cornners of the map. You will notice that the map in the back ground moves to that area too. 25)On the right side, select the Point1 tab. Now you are in calibration mode. Now move the red box in mapview in the left upper corner to calibrate point1. 26) out of mapview go to the the left upper corner of the background map and choose poit (0,0) and your 1st calibration point. You will notice that these X,Y cordinated will be reflected in the Point1 image cordinates. 27) now go back to the text file where you saved your coordibates and enter the top latitude and the left longitude in the corresponding places. 28) Repeat steps 25-27 for point2,point3,point4 and click on save. Thats it, you have calibrated your image and you are about to finish. 29) Go to save and a dilaog which prompts you to save a .map file will poop up. Do save the map file in your working folder. 30) Right click that .map file and edit the filename in the .map file to remove the pc's directory structure. Eg. Change C\OziExplorer\data\Kampala.bmp to Kampala.ogf2. 31) Save the .map file in the smartComGPS\Maps folder on your phone. 32) now open smartComGPS on your phone and bingo! there is your map with GPS capability and in the same zoom level. 33) In smartComGPS options, choose connect and simulate. By now you should be smiling. Whoa! Hope i was of help. i case you get a problem, please inform me Below is the link to the software. regards. http://rapidshare.com/files/230296037/Utilities_Used.rar.html Ok, the Rapidshare files i posted are gone, so you will have to download as described in the solution. If you need more help, go here: http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_phone/sitemap/t-160491.html Some months later, someone else gave almost the same kind of solution here. http://www.dotsis.com/mobile_phone/sitemap/t-180123.html Note: the solutions were mean't to help view maps on Symbian phones, but i think now they ca even do for Windows Phones, iphones and others so read, extract what you want and use it. Hope it helps. Sam Kea

  • Random MKAnnotationView is tapped when there are overlapping annotations

    - by Alexandre Gellibert
    I cannot believe this bug/problem doesn't have any solution! In my iphone application, I'm using MapKit with MKMapView and custom MKAnnotationView. The problem is when annotations overlap (in my app, annotations are photos and those photos may overlap) and when you tap on the annotation that appears on front, other annotation (on back) receives the event (seems to be random). I didn't find any way to send the event to the front annotation. Z ordering and Order of overlapping annotations questions on stackoverflow did not help me that much. Please any idea is welcome (even ugly ones)! Here's some of my code (nothing fancy, very common): CustomAnnotation.h @interface CustomAnnotation : NSObject <MKAnnotation> { @private CustomAnnotationView* view; } @property (nonatomic, retain) CustomAnnotationView* view; @end CustomAnnotation.m @implementation CustomAnnotation @synthetize view; CustomAnnotationView.h @interface CustomAnnotationView : MKAnnotationView { } @end CustomAnnotationView.m @implementation CustomAnnotationView - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ // Do something related to the annotation tapped } @end Main class ... // Annotations are added and some of them overlaps with others. - (void)addAnnotation:(CustomAnnotation*)annotation { [map addAnnotation:annotation]; } ... - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation { NSString* identifier = getIdentifierFromAnnotation(annotation); CustomAnnotationView* view; if(!(view = (CustomAnnotationView*)[map dequeueReusableAnnotationViewWithIdentifier:identifier])) { view = [[CustomAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier: identifier]; [(CustomAnnotation*)annotation setView:view]; [view release]; } return view; }

  • iPhone Development - CLLocationManager vs. MapKit

    - by Mustafa
    If i want to show userLocation on the map, and at the same time record the user's location, is it a good idea to add an observer to userLocation.location and record the locations, OR should i still use CLLocationManager for recording user location and use mapView.showUserLocation to show the user's current location (blue indicator)? I want to show the default blue indicator supported by the MapKit API. Also, here's a rough sample code: - (void)viewDidLoad { ... locationManager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest; locationManager.distanceFilter = DISTANCE_FILTER_VALUE; locationManager.delegate = self; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; myMapView.showUserLocation = YES; [myMapView addObserver:self forKeyPath:@"userLocation.location" options:0 context:nil]; ... } - (void)observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { // Record the location information // ... } - (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { NSLog(@"%s begins.", __FUNCTION__); // Make sure that the location returned has the desired accuracy if (newLocation.horizontalAccuracy <= manager.desiredAccuracy) return; // Record the location information // ... } Under the hood, i think MKMapView also uses CLLocationManager to get user's current location? So, will this create any problems because i believe both CLLocationManager and MapView will try to use same location services? Will there be any conflicts and lack of accurate/required or current data?

  • pulling an UIImage from a UITextView or UILabel gives white image

    - by user293139
    Hello all, I need to grab an UIImage from a UITextView or UILabel. I've got a method that will pull an image successfully from other types of views ( [UIViewController view], MKMapView, UIButtons) but I am just getting a white rect for my UITextView. I've been banging my head against the wall for a while and suspect something really, really basic. many thanks! @interface TaskAccomplishmentViewController : UIViewController { MKMapView *mapView; UILabel *timeLeftText; UITextView *challengeText; UIButton *successButton; -(void) setChallangeImageToImageFromChallenge { // works // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:mapView]]; // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:[self view]]]; // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:successButton]]; //doesn't work // [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:timeLeftText]]; [currChallenge setChallengeImage:[UIImageUtils grabImageFromView:challengeText]]; } and the grabImage from a UIView code +(UIImage *)grabImageFromView: (UIView *) viewToGrab { UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(viewToGrab.bounds.size); [[viewToGrab layer] renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return viewImage; }

  • my MKAnnotationVIew is not showing the title

    - by hydev
    Hi, I am new to iPhone programming and I can't understand why the MKAnnotationView is not showing the title's of my annotation's. Below is the code that is used to display it on the map. - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mv didAddAnnotationViews:(NSArray *)views { NSLog(@"Entered didAddAnnotationViews"); MKAnnotationView *annotationView = [views objectAtIndex:0]; id <MKAnnotation> mp = [annotationView annotation]; MKCoordinateRegion region = MKCoordinateRegionMakeWithDistance([mp coordinate], 250, 250); [mv setRegion:region animated:YES]; } Here is where I am defining my annotations: MapPoint *mp = [[MapPoint alloc] initWithCoordinate:[newLocation coordinate] title:[locationTitleField text]]; [mapView addAnnotation:mp]; [mp release]; mp is a class I have created to keep track of all the map points: #import "MapPoint.h" @implementation MapPoint @synthesize coordinate, title; - (id)initWithCoordinate:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)c title:(NSString *)t { [super init]; coordinate = c; [self setTitle:t]; return self; } - (void)dealloc { [title release]; [super dealloc]; } @end I am beginner so go easy, and all help greatly appreciated. • Problems pulling data from NSMutableArray for MapKit?

    - by Graeme
    Hi, I have a class (DataImporter) which has the code to download an RSS feed. I also have a view and separate class (TableView) which displays the data in a UITableView and starts the parsing process, storing parsed information in an NSMutableArray (items). Now I wish to add a UIMapView which displays the items in the items NSMutableArray. I'm struggling to transfer the data into the new class (mapView) to show it in the map - and I preferably don't want to have to create a new class to download the data again for the map. Is there a way I can transfer the information from the NSMutableArray (items) to the mapView? Thanks. Code for viewDidLoad MapKit: Data *data = nil; NSString *ilocation = [data locations]; NSString *ilocation2 = @"New Zealand"; NSString *inewlString; inewlString = [ilocation stringByAppendingString:ilocation2]; NSLog(@"inewlString=%@",inewlString); if(forwardGeocoder == nil) { forwardGeocoder = [[BSForwardGeocoder alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; } // Forward geocode! [forwardGeocoder findLocation: inewlString]; Code for parsing data into NSMutable Array: - (void)beginParsing { NSLog(@"Parsing has begun"); //self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem.enabled = NO; // Allocate the array for song storage, or empty the results of previous parses if (incidents == nil) { NSLog(@"Grabbing array"); self.datas = [NSMutableArray array]; } else { [datas removeAllObjects]; [self.tableView reloadData]; } // Create the parser, set its delegate, and start it. self.parser = [[DataImporter alloc] init]; parser.delegate = self; [parser start]; }

  • Can't access annotation property of subclassed uibutton

    - by Tzur Gazit
    I have a mapView to which I add annotations. The pin's callout have a button (rightCalloutAccessoryView). In order to be able to display various information when the button is pushed, i've subclassed uibutton and added a class called "Annotation". @interface CustomButton : UIButton { NSIndexPath *indexPath; Annotation *mAnnotation; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSIndexPath *indexPath; @property (nonatomic, copy) Annotation *mAnnotation; - (id) setAnnotation2:(Annotation *)annotation; @end Here is "Annotation": @interface Annotation : NSObject <MKAnnotation> { CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; NSString *mPhotoID; NSString *mPhotoUrl; NSString *mPhotoName; NSString *mOwner; NSString *mAddress; } @property (nonatomic, assign) CLLocationCoordinate2D coordinate; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoUrl; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mPhotoName; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mOwner; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *mAddress; - (id) initWithCoordinates:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)coordinate; - (id) setPhotoId:(NSString *)id url:(NSString *)url owner:(NSString *)owner address:(NSString *)address andName:(NSString *)name; @end I want to set the annotation property of the uibutton at - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)pMapView viewForAnnotation:(id )annotation, in order to refer to it at the button push handler (-(IBAction) showDetails:(id)sender). The problem is that I can't set the annotation property of the button. • iOS MapKit: Selected MKAnnotation coordinates.

    - by Oh Danny Boy
    Using the code at the following tutorial, http://www.zenbrains.com/blog/en/2010/05/detectar-cuando-se-selecciona-una-anotacion-mkannotation-en-mapa-mkmapview/, I was able to add an observer to each MKAnnotation and receive a notification of selected/deselected states. I am attempting to add a UIView on top of the selection annotation to display relevant information about the location. This information cannot be conveyed in the 2 lines allowed (Title/Subtitle) for the pin's callout. - (void)observeValueForKeyPath:(NSString *)keyPath ofObject:(id)object change:(NSDictionary *)change context:(void *)context { Annotation *a = (Annotation *)object; // Alternatively attempted using: //Annotation *a = (Annotation *)[mapView.selectedAnnotations objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *action = (NSString *)context; if ([action isEqualToString:ANNOTATION_SELECTED_DESELECTED]) { BOOL annotationSelected = [[change valueForKey:@"new"] boolValue]; if (annotationSelected) { // Actions when annotation selected CGPoint origin = a.frame.origin; NSLog(@"origin (%f, %f) ", origin.x, origin.y); // Test UIView *v = [[UIView alloc] init]; [v setBackgroundColor:[UIColor orangeColor]]; [v setFrame:CGRectMake(origin.x, origin.y , 300, 300)]; [self.view addSubview:v]; [v release]; }else { // Accions when annotation deselected } } } Results using Annotation *a = (Annotation *)object origin (154373.000000, 197135.000000) origin (154394.000000, 197152.000000) origin (154445.000000, 197011.000000) Results using Annotation *a = (Annotation *)[mapView.selectedAnnotations objectAtIndex:0]; origin (0.000000, 0.000000) origin (0.000000, 0.000000) origin (0.000000, 0.000000) The numbers are large. They are not relative to the view (1024 x 768). I believe they are relative to the entire map. How would I be able to detect the exact coordinates relative to the entire view so that I can appropriately position my view?

  • MKAnnotations are being made successfully, however they sometimes fail to render on MKMapView

    - by jtkendall
    I'm working on an iPhone app using the 3.1.3 SDK, my app finds the users current location, displays it on a MKMapView and then finds nearby locations and renders them as MKAnnotations. My code is working, however sometimes the nearby annotations do not appear on the map. They are still being made as I see the correct data in the console (from NSLog which runs just after the annotations are made). When it fails is completely random, it could be the 5th time I've hit "Build and Run" for the day, or the 500th it doesn't appear to have any pattern and doesn't throw any type of error, it just doesn't add the annotations to the MapView. This is the method called for each nearby location to add the MKAnnotation. - (void)addPinsWithLocation:(NSDictionary *)spot { CLLocationCoordinate2D location; location.longitude = [[spot objectForKey:@"spot_longitude"] doubleValue]; location.latitude = [[spot objectForKey:@"spot_latitude"] doubleValue]; PlaceMarks *placemark = [[PlaceMarks alloc] initWithCoordinate:location title:[spot objectForKey:@"spot_name"] subtitle:@""]; NSLog(@"Adding Pin for Location: '%@' at %f, %f", [spot objectForKey:@"spot_name"], location.latitude, location.longitude); [mapView addAnnotation:placemark]; } Any ideas on how to get MKAnnotations to always show?

  • MKMapKit exception when using canShowCallout on annotation view

    - by Kendall Helmstetter Gelner
    I'm trying to use a pretty straightforward custom map annotation view and callout - the annotation view when I create it, just adds a UIImageView as a subview to itself. That works fine. However, when I call canShowCallout on the annotation view, An exception is thrown in MapKit immediately after returning the view. The end of the stack looks like: #0 0x94e964e6 in objc_exception_throw #1 0x01e26404 in -[MKOverlayView _addViewForAnnotation:] #2 0x01e22037 in -[MKOverlayView _addViewsForAnnotations:animated:] #3 0x01e1ddf9 in -[MKOverlayView showAddedAnnotationsAnimated:] #4 0x01df9c0e in -[MKMapView _showAddedAnnotationsAndRouteAnimated:] #5 0x01e0371a in -[MKMapView levelView:didLoadTile:] My viewForAnnotation is pretty simple: - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation { if ( ! [annotation isKindOfClass:[MyAnnotation class]] ) return nil; MyAnnotationView *useView = (MyAnnotationView *)[myMapView dequeueReusableAnnotationViewWithIdentifier:@"resuseview"]; if ( useView == nil ) { useView = [[[MyAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"resuseview"] autorelease]; useView.canShowCallout = YES; // if commented out view appears just fine } else { useView.annotation = annotation; } return useView; } As noted in the code, the annotation view works fine as is - until I add canShowCallout, then it crashes the first time the map gets the view.

  • Identifying the GeoPoint that trigger an onTap call

    - by Akroy
    I'm developing a Google Maps app on Android. I have a number of GeoPoints that I'm displaying by adding them as OverlayItems to an ItemizedOverlay. This works well for displaying them and bringing up a nice box when I click them, however I'm trying to put info in the box it brings up. Thus, I've extended ItemizedOverlay with my own class, and I'm overriding onTap (final GeoPoint p, final MapView mapView). At first I thought that this would be very simple, as one of the parameters is the GeoPoint, so I would know exactly which GeoPoint was clicked. However, from what I can tell, the GeoPoint argument there is the GeoPoint for where the user actually touched. Given the range the user can touch and still trigger the onTap, that GeoPoint isn't very helpful for knowing precisely which GeoPoint was actually touched. I'm currently checking the parameter GeoPoint against all my existing GeoPoints and seeing which it's closest to. This seems like a super hacky abstraction inversion. Is there a better way to know what was actually tapped?

  • Knowing which annotation is selected and accessing properties of it.

    - by kevin Mendoza
    So far my program can display a database of custom annotation views. Eventually I want my program to be able to display extra information after a button on the annotation bubble is clicked. Each element in the database has a unique entry Number, so I thought it would be a good idea to add this entry number as a property of the custom annotation. The problem I am having is that after the button is clicked and the program switches to a new view I am unable to retrieve the entry number of the annotation I selected. Below is the code that assigns the entry Number property to the annotation: for (id mine in mines) { workingCoordinate.latitude = [[mine latitudeInitial] doubleValue]; workingCoordinate.longitude = [[mine longitudeInitial] doubleValue]; iProspectAnnotation *tempMine = [[iProspectAnnotation alloc] initWithCoordinate:workingCoordinate]; [tempMine setTitle:[mine mineName]]; [tempMine setAnnotationEntryNumber:[mine entryNumber]]; } [mines dealloc]; When the button on an annotation is selected, this is the code that initializes the new view: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)view calloutAccessoryControlTapped:(UIControl *)control { mineInformationController *controller = [[mineInformationController alloc] initWithNibName:@"mineInformationController" bundle:nil]; controller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleCrossDissolve; [self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES]; [controller release]; } and lastly is my attempt at retrieving the entryNumber property from the new view so that I can compare it to the mines database and retrieve more information on the array element. iProspectFresno_LiteAppDelegate *appDelegate = (iProspectFresno_LiteAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; NSMutableArray* mines = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:(NSMutableArray *)appDelegate.mines]; for(id mine in mines) { if ([[mine entryNumber] isEqualToNumber: /*the entry Number of the selected annotation*/]) { /* display the information in the mine object */ } } So how do I access this entry number property in this new view controller?

  • Passing bundle to activity set as singletask

    - by Falmarri
    So I have a MapActivity that runs an asynchtask that occasionally updates what exactly it's displaying on the map (via a string). I originally pass this string in from the intent when the activity is first created. And then if you click on one of the drawables on the map, it opens a new activity, which can then create a new mapview (same class) with a different string setting. The problem I have is that I only want one instance of the mapview to be running at once. Thus I set android:launchmode="singletask" in the manifest. This works in that it brings the mapactivity to the front, but is there any way to send it a new intent bundle to get a new setting for the string it needs? I tried regetting the extras from the bundle, but it seems to retain the old bundle, not the new intent that was passed to it. I'm not sure I want to do startActivityForResult because the 2nd activity may or may not want to update the original activity. I hope that made sense. I can post code if necessary, but I think that should explain my situation.

  • Android Linear Layout steching

    - by Maffo
    Hi, I think that's a rather simple Question but I don't get it the way I want it to. I Want do do a Linear Layout in Android with 3 areas. The Top area should have a fixed height, fill_parent width. The second, below the first, should use all the room available, fill_parent width. The third, below the second, should have fixed height, fill_parent width. Here is what i got: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" android:gravity="bottom" android:background="#ff63a920"> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/top_bar" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="32dp" > </LinearLayout> <com.google.android.maps.MapView android:id="@+id/mymapView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:enabled="true" android:clickable="true" /> <LinearLayout android:id="@+id/bottombar" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="32dp" > </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> The Problem is, that the mapview in the middle ist too big, so it pushes out the topbar. I Hope you can help me.

  • google maps based desktop application

    - by dramaticlook
    I want to build a desktop application which has google maps embedded to it. This app should have a thread to read coordinate data online a usb microphone to use. This application will move the google map markers to their new locations based on the data retrieved from online connections on each refresh. As far as I know gmaps has a javascript API so the first idea in my mind was to embed this mapview into a java applet. So the application will run on a browser. Im not sure if this will work. Do you guys have any idea about this or any other advices you might have? Thanks in advance!!!

  • annotationView didChangeDragState being fired multiple times

    - by RodH257
    I've got a draggable annotation in IOS4 mapkit, and I'm trying to call an event when the annotation is dragged to a new position. my code currently looks like: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)annotationView didChangeDragState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)newState fromOldState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)oldState { if (newState == MKAnnotationViewDragStateEnding) { CLLocationCoordinate2D droppedAt = annotationView.annotation.coordinate; NSLog(@"dropped at %f,%f", droppedAt.latitude, droppedAt.longitude); //update the annotation //see if its an information annotation if ([annotationView.annotation isKindOfClass:[InfoAnnotation class]]) { NSLog(@"Info annotation updating.."); InfoAnnotation* userAnnotation = ((InfoAnnotation *)annotationView.annotation); [userAnnotation updateLocationWithServerForConvoy: self.title]; } } } the code simply logs the update and then tells the annotation to send its update to my server, which is a custom method. This method seems to be getting fired multiple times, see the log here: 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.658 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.659 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.957 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.958 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.415 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.416 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.475 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.476 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.771 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.772 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating..
