  • How to suspend and resume browser tab groups?

    Modern browsers such as Firefox and Chrome are able to shutdown and restore the same group of tabs they had before the next time you open them, and even sometimes remember additional tab state such as scroll position within the tab. I would like ideally to be able to select a group of tabs (about some coherent theme, perhaps) and save them away into some kind of "folder" that I could later open independently, without opening any other tabs. Obviously I can use bookmarks for this, but bookmarks are kind of old-fashioned. It would be excellent if it could also record forms that I had filled in but not submitted, scroll position, tab position within the tab group, and any other "dynamic" aspects of the current tab state.

  • Why does my touchpad fail on resume from standby?

    On resume touchpad disables and a reboot is needed to re-activate. Macbook Pro 6.1 Ubuntu 11.10 MAC 64bit Suspend - ok Suspend Resume - ok However, on resume in the loggin screen my touchpad works, but after I enter my password and return to the desktop the touchpad fails. A usb mouse still works fine. I have to re-boot in order to re-enable toe touchpad. This was not an issue when I had Ubuntu 10.10 32bit installed. The install was a fresh install. The bcm5974 driver will not install, says codependency errors. I manually try to install all dependencies and I get this error: E: hid-dkms: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10 E: bcm5974-dkms: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Thanks

In VirtualBox there is an option to choose between pulseaudio and alsa for sound, but it seems to have no effect. I am using virtualbox-3.0 packages, not the ose version. My system is up to date.

    I can build computers, install servers, network mac, linux, and windows, build servers, do support etc. I do all of this at home/for friends/for hobbies. I have worked with computers every day since I was in elementary school (commodore 64, windows 3.1 etc.). I have IT bachelors in administrative management (so basically nothing good). I am getting another bachelor's in server admin, including about 5 certifications. I am the IT go to gal at every position usually because I know more than the IT people and have better people skills. My job history is random: office admin, hair braider, disney ride operator, camp counselor etc. I found a job I want its a entry level specialist (server) position. What do I put on a resume?

    Possible Duplicate: How to mute the sound output on Windows Start up? I carry a laptop around. Sometimes I'll open it up in meetings or other quiet settings. The speaker is interrupted by the windows startup noise or Pandora refreshing it's page and starting to play a song or some other random computer noise. Is there a simple way to mute the sound on startup/resume/whatever? Kind of like the BIOS option to turn on or off the Num Lock.

    I was transferring several thousand files each ~1MB via scp and my connection was broken after the first 2k files or so. I wanted to know if there was a way to resume the recursive transfer w/o starting over. Something like $ scp -r [email protected]:/datafiles/ ./ ... Happy Transfer ... ... BREAK! ... $ rsync -P [email protected]:/datafiles/ ./ ... Continue transf... The problem is I can't seem to get the syntax correct if it is possible. Can anyone shed some light on if/how it can be done? PS. If you specify the slash after "datafiles" in the rsync line, does that transfer the directory or its contents? I saw conflicting comments when I googled.

  • Pause and Resume AsyncTasks? (Android)

    I have an AsyncTask that acts as a countdown timer for my game. When it completes the countdown it displays the out of time end screen and it also updates the timer displayed on the screen. Everything works fine, except I need to be able to pause and resume this when the pause button in the game is pressed. If I cancel it and try to re-execute it, it crashes with an IllegalStateException. If I cancel it and instantiate a new AsyncTask in its place the old one begins to run again and the new one runs at the same time. Is there a way to cancel/pause the timer and restart it using AsyncTasks or is there a different way I should be going about doing this?

I believe it's better to focus on one thing, master it and build up a portfolio to enhance my resume. Bachelor's Degree with no experience, no portfolio won't do me any good. It won't get me a job by itself. I need to have something that will greatly boost my resume. What would it be? iPhone development? ASP.NET web development? Facebook development? Or completely something else that I haven't listed? I understand it's natural for silverlight developers to say "Learn Silverlight", and iPhone developers say "Learn iPhone SDK and Objective-C". So please try to give a constructive, non-biased, non-objective opinion on which technology should I focus on. Please don't close the topic for "subjective/argumentative" reasons.   • Non-Mainstream Languages, Bad for your resume?

    Hi folks, I got my BS in Computer Science about seven years ago. I spent two years in neuroscience research and the next three providing what amounts to tech support. But I love computer programming - and I have since written, as a freelancer, non-trivial commercial code in Haskell, Smalltalk, and Objective-C. I used these languages because I find them rewarding, they make me a better programmer and thus, I thought, more attractive to companies. However the polar opposite has occured and I am now unhireable. The freelance market has bottomed out and I am looking for regular employment. But I am being repeatedly turned down, even for entry-level positions, because I don't specifically fit the requirements - eg. Java programmer with 2+ years with JUnit, JavaMail, Servlets etc. And none of the hiring managers, let alone the recruiters, have heard of either Haskell or Smalltalk and more disturbing is their thinly veiled contempt for my background. My question is , how should I market myself to these positions? Is anyone here in a similar position? What should I be doing different professionally? More broadly is this contempt for non-mainstream experience occurring everywhere or just my town? And if there are any hiring managers reading this, I'd love to hear your side.     I have an application I am creating with a DashboardActivity & a SettingsActivity. On the dashboard, I have one object displayed, but when I go into settings, I want to be able to select/deselect X options. Once the user clicks the back button, I save that data locally and to the server. Once the phone receives a success message from the server that it was stored properly, I want to reload the dashboard. I thought I would do this with the onPause and onResume, but they are called when the DashboardActivity is first created. What would be the best way to reload the dashboard by calling my web service after the settings were saved to the server?     hey i have iphone application that using facebook connect. users login to the iphone application using facebook connect. and then i receive their sessionKey back to my server, and i am using the sesssionkey to post actions to users wall. the iphone application keeps the user logged in allways. which means that every times the user will open the application, he will not need to make login again. the problem is that, when the user change his facebook password the user sessionKey also changes. and when the user enter to my iphone applicaiton, the user is shown as loggedin, and then i recieve to my server the user old sessionkey, and when i try to post to the user wall facebook tells me that the session is inavlid. it is ok because the user change his password and the session changes too. my question is how can i check in the iphone if the session key has changed ? and if it changes to promote the user to make login again.

  • AVPlayer seeking to a different point after app resume

    I have an AVPlayer, the video in it is ~2 seconds long. After the video plays, if the app goes to the background and reenters the foreground I need the video to still be shown exactly as it was when the app was exited. The AVPlayer sticks around just fine, however when I reenter the app from the background the video appears to be seeked to the middle of the video. However, if I just play the video, it starts from the beginning, so it doesn't seem like it actually seeked and is just showing a preview image. I've tried to auto-seek the video to the end on relaunch but nothing happens . Nothing I can figure out or find in the docs would describe this behavior. Any tips on having the video launch either at the beginning or end?
