I'm currently using a jquery autocomplete plugin to suggest input to the user inside input tags, but the issue is that the autocomplete phrases can often be fairly long and thus scroll off the edge of the input field.

    I have a textarea in which the user enters the following data: Paul:Nine, Rome Jenny:Five, India Bob I want to read the data and store the values before the colon in an array and the values after the colon in another array. Please note that the user may not enter values after the colon like in case 3 above. In such case, the value must be stored in the first array as if it is before the colon. How can I do that using jquery?

    I have a question for the community. My problem is that I have 4 input files with a maxlength of 60 caracters for a total of 240 caracters. Because the "backend" of the customer's system, it need to be 4 differents inputs max to be inserted and they say it is not user-friendly to fill 4 fields. My solution I want to make a textarea and when you fill it, il complete the 4 fields. [input text #1] max60 [input text #2] max60 [input text #3] max60 [input text #4] max60 [textarea max 240] What I am trying to do is to make by javascript/jQuery to fill up the four field while typing in.     Before 3.0.5, BeautifulSoup used to treat the contents of <textarea as HTML. It now treats it as text. The document I am parsing has HTML inside the textarea tags, and I am trying to process it. I've tried: for textarea in soup.findAll('textarea'): contents = BeautifulSoup.BeautifulSoup(textarea.contents) textarea.replaceWith(contents.html(text=True)) But I'm getting errors. I can't find this in the documentation, and the alternative parsers aren't helping. Anyone know how I can parse the textareas as HTML?

    Hi, Im trying to override the grey text of a disabled input and textarea. At the moment Im only really concerned with it working in Webkit and Mozilla. At the moment Im currently using every trick in the book that I know of: input[@disabled=true], input[@disabled], button[disabled]:active, button[disabled], input[type="reset"][disabled]:active, input[type="reset"][disabled], input[type="button"][disabled]:active, input[type="button"][disabled], select[disabled] > input[type="button"], select[disabled] > input[type="button"]:active, input[type="submit"][disabled]:active, input[type="submit"][disabled],input[disabled="disabled"], input[disabled] { color: black !important; } Sure it does change the colour if I change it to something else, however when I choose black it is still greyed out a bit. Any ideas? I am using Ext JS if I can use that to manipulate it. Thanks.

    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...     I've a problem about whitespaces and new lines at the beginning of a textarea. I send a json string with ajax to the php script. Then I decode the string into an php array (with json_decode). So I have a string in this array with two line breaks at the beginning. If a print the text from the array, the line breaks are there, but if I store the text into the mysql database, the line breaks are gone... Only at the beginning of the string, the line breaks gone... At the rest of the string, the line breaks are ok. Thanks for your answers! rob

    I want the input fields on my site to select all the text when the user first clicks on them, but in IE8 the text is selected for a split second then reverts back to normal. Works fine in FF. In my case, I want a hotkey to fire when inside an input box, not all but one in particular: $(function() { $(document).bind('keydown', 'Shift+return',function (evt) { alert('got it') }); }); Any ideas on how jQuery Hotkeys can be patched to allow for shift+return to be fired when inside an input/textarea field? but not fired for all the other hotkey bindings?
