    hi. I am currently dabbling in expert systems, emacs lisp, and reading up about artificial intelligence. Traditionally, artificial intelligence is associated with LISP and expert systems with CLIPS. However, I have noticed in computational sciences how much Python is being used. What about the area of artificial intelligence and machine learning? is it still been dominated by LISP? how much is python being used in AI? are any of the newer functional languages, clojure for example, being used in research? in the area of expert systems, which shells are most used/popular today? are there any interesting developments language wise which you know of?   • Designing a Tag table that tells how many times it's used

    Hi, all. I am trying to design a tagging system with a model like this: Tag: content = CharField creator = ForeignKey used = IntergerField It is a many-to-many relationship between tags and what's been tagged. Everytime I insert a record into the assotication table, Tag.used is incremented by one, and decremented by one in case of deletion. Tag.used is maintained because I want to speed up answering the question 'How many times this tag is used?'. However, this seems to slow insertion down obviously. Please tell me how to improve this design. Thanks in advance.

Little Background: Until the time the table has few number of records things will be okay, once it started having millions of records then index should be created for a column which is used in WHERE clauses in stored procs, inline queries etc., Since we have hundreds of stored procs and queries that often gets changed by the devs I wanted to have a automated way of identifying those columns that are used in WHERE clauses but not an index is created. How to do that in SQL SERVER 2008?

  • Disk2VHD image used in Win 7 as a bootable VPC

    I have used Disk2VHD to create a VHD of my old XP Laptop's boot drive. I would like to use it as an XP virtual machine on my new Win7 machine. I have tried doingit on a second XP machine and the VPC boots properly using that VHD but under Win7 I can't get it to act as the boot disk for the VPC. Any ideas? TIA J

I have a centos 5.2 server and running df -h i get this: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 672G -551M 638G 0% / /dev/hda1 99M 12M 82M 13% /boot tmpfs 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm that space wasn't even near 10% usage the last time it showed a correct value, i'm at a loss with whats going on.   • Get Used rather than Provisioned space in PowerCLI

    I'm trying to run a capacity report, and when I run the Get-HardDisk cmdlet in PowerCLI, the value it returns for CapacityKB is the Provisioned space. For example, let's say I've thin provisioned a 200GB disk, which is currently using say 30GB, it returns the 200GB value. Is there any way I can get the other value? I need to know how much disk space is actually being used on the LUN by the vmdk file. My PowerCLI version is 5.0.1.

  • Safe to disable compile options for Nginx (when used only as reverse proxy/cache)

    I have read that I can do this to make a smaller footprint Nginx when used as static content cache/reverse proxy: --without-mail_pop3_module --without-mail_imap_module --without-mail_smtp_module What other options are safe to disable? SSI, FastCGI? Others? The only requirements for the reverse proxy is to be able to do https and gzip compression. Will disabling all the module really help with footprint and/or performance?
