  Hi guys, I've been stumped by the code below. I pass a string date to a UIDatePicker which seems to work on most devices, yet on some, it crashes the app. here's the code NSDateFormatter *dateFormat = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormat setDateFormat:@"HH:mm"]; NSDate *date = [dateFormat dateFromString:dateStr]; [timePicker setDate:date]; [dateFormat release]; I have a function which passes the "dateStr" variable, as follows, dateStr = @"0:0"; I cannot see what's wrong - as it works for me! (iphone 3.1.3) but it doesnt work for my tester (ipod touch 3.1.3) Can anyone see anything wrong with the code? Thanks v much. any ideas?

• Git push won't do anything (Everything up-to-date)

  I'm trying to update a git repository on github. I made a bunch of changes, added them, committed then attempted to do a git push. The response tells me that everything is up to date, but clearly it's not. git remote show origin responds with the repository I'd expect. Why is git telling me the repository is up to date when there are local commits that aren't visible on the repository? • How to convert Facebook created_time to Java Date?

  Hi, I have a FQL statement like this: String query = "SELECT post_id, actor_id, target_id, created_time, message FROM stream WHERE source_id in (SELECT target_id FROM connection WHERE source_id=<userID>) AND is_hidden = 0"; I just wondering what kind of time Facebook gives to me. The result of my statement will be mapped to a wrapper object (wallpost). myDate.setTime(wallpost.getCreated_time()); gives me no valid date. Does anyone have an idea what kind of date Facebook returns and how to match it to Date()? thanks in advance!

I am using from_dt as a virtual attribute (string). The 'presence of' and 'format of' validation errors show up on the form, but when the user enters an invalid date format on the form and Date.Parse raises an exception I have a 'errors.add_to_base' statement in the rescue clause. Can anyone tell me why this error does not show up in the form error messages when I disable the 'format of' validation. thanks.

  Hi, Is there a way to calculate a time stamp for the next coming up of a week day? So for instance, with friday, i'd like to be able to run some code that calculates that from today Wednesday 19/05/10, the next friday will be 21/05/10 and get a time stamp from it. I know the date command can parse a given string date according to a format, but I can't figure out how to calculate "next friday from today" Any idea? Cheers Ben

  Hey, is there a way to find out the last time a contact was modified? I can't seem to find a variable for it. The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to do a sync of the contacts to my web server and I don't feel like checking for each contact with a HTTP request if it needs updating. So I was thinking to check the date of the last update to the date of the last sync.

• MySQL 5.1 implicit cast from now() to a date field

  Hello, I have an issue with MySQL 5.1. A datetime data type isn't implicitly casted to match a date column. SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE my_date_field = NOW() This request doesn't return any rows using MySQL 5.1, but works well with version 5.0. If we use CURDATE() instead of NOW() it works both in MySQL 5.0 and MySQL 5.1. If the cast is explicit (CAST(NOW() AS DATE)), it also works both in MySQL 5.0 and MySQL 5.1. The problem only appears with implicit cast from datetime to date. Doesn't anyone already encountered this issue or has a clue about how to solve this problem? I know it's not the best to use NOW() instead of CURTIME(), but this isn't the question here. It is currently used in an application and the purpose is to avoid rewriting everything. Thanks!

• Date javascript object from IE cannot be automatically bound to Datetime in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi There, I have a site that uses a jquery calendar to display events. I have noticed than when using the system from within IE (all versions) ASP.NET MVC will fail to bind the datetime to the action that send back the correct events. The sequence of events goes as follows. Calendar posts to server to get events Server ActionMethod accepts start and end date, automatically bound to datetime objects In every browser other than IE the start and end date come through as: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 GMT When IE posts the date, it comes through as Mon, 10 Jan 2011 00:00:00 UTC ASP.NET MVC 2 will then fail to automatically bind this to the action method parameter. Is there a reason why this is happening?   In the context of C# 4, ASP.NET MVC 2, and NHibernate; I've got the following scenario: Let's assume an entity Product that have an association to ProductType. In a product edit view; how do I implement that only a sub-set of the product's properties are shown based on the ProductType association in an elegant and DRY way? I.e., different properties shall be shown for different values of a property of the ProductType. Use a product view model builder, and from different view models automagically generate the view with my own Html.EditorForModel() (including drop-downs and other stuff not out-of-the-box)? Attribute the properties of one view model and use the Html.EditorForModel() way aforementioned? Use one model, but implement different web controls (view strategies) (can it be done DRY?)? Something else entirely?

• Convert Date to Datetime field.

  The argument my C# function is getting is a string which is merely a Date or a DateTime. I am suppose to convert this String to DateTime, to carry on furthure calculation. Now I need to test whether the incoming data is a Date, if it is date(examle:"12/31/2009"), then I need to add "00:00:00" (24 hours format) to it, so that it will become "12/31/2009 00:00:00". If string manipulation is one possible way, I want to confirm whether there is some other way where we can automate the testing and conversion within DateTime.TryParseExact() method. • Import a Collada model doesn't align to pixels

  Assume I have a model that is simply a cube. (It is more complicated than a cube, but for the purposes of this discussion, we will simplify.) So when I am in Sketchup, the cube is Xmm by Xmm by Xmm, where X is an integer. I then export the a Collada file and subsequently load that into threejs. Now if I look at the geometry bounding box, the values are floats, not integers. So now assume I am putting cubes next to each other with a small space in between say 1 pixel. Because screens can't draw half pixels, sometimes I see one pixel and sometimes I see two, which causes a lack of uniformity. I think I can resolve this satisfactorily if I can somehow get the imported model to have integer dimensions. I have full access to all parts of the model starting with Sketchup, so any point in the process is fair game. Is it possible? Thanks.

Some code to describe the problem: class Base(models.model): def basemethod(self): ... class Child_1(Base): pass class Child_2(Base): pass If I create various objects of the two Child classes and the create a queryset containing them all: Child_1().save() Child_2().save() (o1, o2) = Base.objects.all() I want to determine if the object is of type Child_1 or Child_2 in basemethod, I can get to the child object via o1.child_1 and o2.child_2 but that reconquers knowledge about the childclasses in the baseclass. I have come up with the following code: def concrete_instance(self): instance = None for subclass in self._meta.get_all_related_objects(): acc_name = subclass.get_accessor_name() try: instance = self.__getattribute__(acc_name) return instance except Exception, e: pass But it feels brittle and I'm not sure of what happens when if I inherit in more levels.

• C# Getting Just Date From Timestamp

  If I have a timestamp in the form: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss:mmm How can I just extract the date from the timestamp? For instance, if a timestamp reads: "2010-05-18 08:36:52:236" what is the best way to just get 2010-05-18 from it. What I'm trying to do is isolate the date portion of the timestamp, define a custom time for it to create a new time stamp. Is there a more efficient way to define the time of the timestamp without first taking out the date, and then adding a new time?

  Hi all, I want to use the Jquery datepicker. I've got it setup using an the alt field option. I'm displaying Y-M-D in the text field, but submitting Y-M-D. Everything works fine so far, sending the correct data, etc. However I want to stop the user from being able to manually type a date. I add originally set the INPUT field to disabled, which worked in every browser except IE. In IE it would popup the date picker but then not close after clicking a date. Does anyone know the best way to do this?

  I’m building a WPF application using MVVM pattern (both are new technologies for me). I use user controls for simple bits of reusable functionality that doesn’t contain business logic, and MVVM pattern to build application logic. Suppose a view contains my user control that fires events, and I want to add an event handler to that event. That event handler should be in the view model of the view, because it contains business logic. The question is – view and the view model are connected only by binding; how do I connect an event handler using binding? Is it even possible (I suspect not)? If not – how should I handle events from a control in the view model? Maybe I should use commands or INotifyPropertyChanged?

• How to handle model state errors in ajax-invoked controller action that returns a PartialView

  I have a POST controller action that returns a partial view. Everything seems really easy. but. I load it using $.ajax(), setting type as html. But when my model validation fails I thought I should just throw an error with model state errors. But my reply always returns 500 Server error. How can I report back model state errors without returning Json with whatever result. I would still like to return partial view that I can directly append to some HTML element. Edit I would also like to avoid returning error partial view. This would look like a success on the client. Having the client parse the result to see whether it's an actual success is prone to errors. Designers may change the partial view output and this alone would break the functionality. So I want to throw an exception, but with the correct error message returned to the ajax client.

• What simple methods are there to wrap a c++ based object model with a COM interface

  I have a pre-existing c++ object model which represents the business layer tier of an application. I want to be able to expose the object model to applications written in other languages i.e vbscript, VB, javascript etc. I believe the best way of doing this is to wrap the business objects with a COM layer. What fast and effective methods are there for doing this. Any advice, links to practical "How to" documentation would be very much appreciated. Because I'm starting a bounty on this , here's a few extra guidelines for potential bounty hunters :- 1)I've decided on an ATL approach 2)I'm now specifically looking for links to really good "how to and quickly" documentation on wrapping a pre-existing c++ object model to make it useable by a scripting language like javascript 3) Something with small working examples showing me what code needs to be added to what files, e.g what goes into the cpp , idl and hpp/h etc. It' must include an example I can compile test and change to get a better understanding.

• Django filter with two constraints on related model

  I have a django app with models as follows: A Question model An Answer model, with a ForeignKey back to the Question. (A question can have multiple answers.) A Flag model, with a ForeignKey to the Answer. (An answer can be flagged as inappropriate.) All of the above also have a user field, defining the user that created that object. I'm trying to get a list of all Questions with answers from the current user which have been flagged. I tried this: Question.objects.filter(answer__user=user).\ filter(answer__flag__isnull=True).distinct() … but I believe that will return a list of Questions with answers from the current user and with answers which have been flagged, but will not necessarily guarantee that it is the user's answer that has been flagged. Is there an easy way to do this? Basically, I want to make the answer part of the filter refer to the same answer on both of them. Please let me know if something is unclear.
