  • Thoughts/Input about Database Design for a CMS

    - by dallasclark
I'm just about to expand the functionality of our own CMS but was thinking of restructuring the database to make it simpler to add/edit data types and values. Currently, the CMS is quite flat - the CMS requires a field in the database for every type of stored value (manually created). The first option that comes to mind is simply a table which keeps the data types (ie: Address 1, Suburb, Email Address etc) and another table which holds values for each of these data types. Just like how Wordpress keeps values in the 'options' table, PHP serialize would be used to store an array of values. The second option is how Drupal works, the CMS creates tables for every data type. Unlike Wordpress, this can be a bit of an overkill but really useful for SQL queries when ordering and grouping by a particular value. What's everyone's thoughts?

  • casting, converting, and input from textbox controls

    - by Matt
    Working on some .aspx.cs code and decided I would forget how to turn a textbox value into a useable integer or decimal. Be warned I'm pretty new to .asp. Wish I could say the same for c sharp. So the value going into my textbox (strawberryp_textbox) is "1" which I presume I can access with the .text property. Which I then parse into a int. The Error reads Format Exception was unhandled by user code. My other question is can I do operations on a session variable? protected void submit_order_button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { int strawberryp; int strawberrys; decimal money1 = decimal.Parse(moneybox1.Text); decimal money2 = decimal.Parse(moneybox2.Text); decimal money3 = decimal.Parse(moneybox3.Text); decimal money4 = decimal.Parse(moneybox4.Text); decimal money5 = decimal.Parse(moneybox5.Text); strawberryp = int.Parse(strawberryp_Textbox.Text); //THE PROBLEM RIGHT HERE! strawberrys = int.Parse(strawberrys_Textbox.Text); // Needs fixed int strawberryc = int.Parse(strawberryc_Textbox.Text); //fix int berryp = int.Parse(berryp_Textbox.Text); //fix int raspberryp = int.Parse(raspberryp_Textbox.Text); /fix decimal subtotal = (money1 * strawberryp) + (money2 * strawberrys) + (money3 * strawberryc) + (money4 * berryp) + (money5 * raspberryp); //check to see if you can multiply decimal and int to get a deciaml!! Session["passmysubtotal"] = subtotal; //TextBox2.Text; (strawberryp_Textbox.Text);//TextBox4.Text; add_my_order_button.Enabled = true; add_my_order_button.Visible = true; submit_order_button.Enabled = false; submit_order_button.Visible = false; strawberryp_Textbox.ReadOnly = false; strawberrys_Textbox.ReadOnly = false; strawberryc_Textbox.ReadOnly = false; berryp_Textbox.ReadOnly = false; raspberryp_Textbox.ReadOnly = false; Response.Redirect("reciept.aspx"); } Thanks for the help

  • script.aculo.us autocomplete stuck behind input elements

    - by colour me brad
I've got several script.aculo.us Ajax.Autocomplete controls on a page and when the drop down div is rendered it's always stuck behind the other text boxes on the page, no matter what I do with zIndex and positioning. The problem occurs in IE and FF. Anyone else run into this? Am I missing something, or is this just life with this control?

  • Block All Keyboard Input in a Linux Application (Using Qt or Mono)

    - by Evans
Hi, I'm working on a online quiz client where we use a dedicated custom-made linux distro which contains only the quiz client software along with text editors and other utility software. When the user has started the quiz, I want to prevent him/her from minimizing the window/closing it/switching to the desktop or other windows. The quizzes can be attempted using only the mouse, so I need the keyboard to be completed disabled for the period of the quiz. How could I do this, using Qt or Mono? I'm ready to use any low-level libraries/drivers, if required. Thanks Evans

  • Automatically compute variable upon input in SPSS

    - by what
I have two cells in SPSS, months is a number of months, years_from_months is the number of years, calculated from the months (decimal: months / 12). What I want is that years_from_months is calculated (and updated) automatically, when I finish entering the months in months, i.e. that I don't have to explicitly call compute manually through the menu. I have defined years_from_months to calculate the years, but at the moment the field only updates when I go to the menu option Transform Compute variable ... and click OK in the window that opens. How can I set up the cell to update automatically (like in Excel)?

  • Closing a hook that captures global input events

    - by Margus
Intro Here is an example to illustrate the problem. Consider I am tracking and displaying mouse global current position and last click button and position to the user. Here is an image: To archive capturing click events on windows box, that would and will be sent to the other programs event messaging queue, I create a hook using winapi namely user32.dll library. This is outside JDK sandbox, so I use JNA to call the native library. This all works perfectly, but it does not close as I expect it to. My question is - How do I properly close following example program? • Ruby: Add a method to the class of an input parameter

    - by TJB
I'm just exploring ruby and was wondering about the theoretical possibility of adding a method to the class of an object. For example, define a method that takes in a parameter and would add a method to the class of that parameter (not just to the parameter object itself). Something like this example: class SomeClass end class AnotherClass end alpha = SomeClass.new beta = AnotherClass.new def AddHelloMethodTo param # This is where I'm trying to # add a method to the class of the parameter def param.class.Hello "Hello" end end AddHelloMethodTo alpha AddHelloMethodTo beta gamma = AnotherClass.new alpha.Hello beta.Hello gamma.Hello (Excuse me if I have syntax errors / typos I'm REALLY new to this!) Notice how I don't call the AddHelloMethodTo on gamma but I expect Hello to be defined because I added it to the class. Is this possible?

  • generating and unmarshalling java classes while unmarshalling input contains a DTD

    - by Hans Westerbeek
Hi, For a Spring-based project, I have the following situation to solve: I have XML files coming in whose contents I will have to parse at runtime. Those XML files come with a DTD reference. I need to generate the classes that the unmarshaller churns out using the right at build time, using the Maven2 plugin for the unmarshalling library of choice. This is also not very hard to do, once I have generated an XSD from the DTD. I want to use spring-oxm's UnMarshaller interface to do the unmarshalling at runtime. This I understand how to do. The xml files come in with a DTD reference, and all unmarshalling libraries out there want to do unmarshalling based on an XSD. Now, as described in the castor documentation, I can convert the DTD to an XSD and keep it on the classpath. However, when an actual XML file comes into the system it will still have that DTD reference at the top, and there's nothing I can really do about that (except for string replacing which feels hacky in this case). Will this cause the unmarshaller, like Castor to fail? Am I right in suspecting that this DTD reference will cause the unmarshalling to fail? Could I do pure DTD-based unmarshalling? Or can this somehow be prevented by providing detailed configuration to the unmarshaller? Until now, I have tried castor, xmlbeans and xstream. Which would fit my purposes best? Has anyone else been in this situation? Did you also end up just doing manual DOM or SAX parsing?

  • Generic data input form in asp.net mvc application

    - by Diego
Hello, I have an application that have EF 16 classes that share this information: They all are classes only with a key field and a description. I think it should be a waste if I make a controller with just 1 method just to present a form to fill these classes info, then I was thinking in to make a generic form(with key, description) and dynamically fill the right class through a sort of selection the selected info in any way, any good suggestion or pattern to do that? Where the generic methods should be located.

  • input of while loop to come from output of `command`

    - by Felipe Alvarez
#I used to have this, but I don't want to write to the disk # pcap="somefile.pcap" tcpdump -n -r $pcap > all.txt while read line; do ARRAY[$c]="$line" c=$((c+1)) done < all.txt The following fails to work. # I would prefer something like... # pcap="somefile.pcap" while read line; do ARRAY[$c]="$line" c=$((c+1)) done < $( tcpdump -n -r "$pcap" ) Too few results on Google (doesn't understand what I want to find :( ). I'd like to keep it Bourne-compatible (/bin/sh), but it doesn't have to be.

  • What is the ip range of EC2

    - by Nicolas Kassis
    I'd like to setup a rule to block ssh request from EC2 since I've been seeing a large amount of ssh based attack from there and was wondering if anyone knew what their IP ranges are. EDIT: Thank you for the answer, I went ahead and implemented the iptables rules as follow. I ignore all traffic for the moment. Logging it just to see if the rules are working and for stats on how much crap EC2 is sending out ;) #EC2 Blacklist $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 67.202.0.0/18 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 67.202.0.0/18 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 72.44.32.0/19 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 72.44.32.0/19 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 75.101.128.0/17 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 75.101.128.0/17 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 174.129.0.0/16 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 174.129.0.0/16 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 204.236.192.0/18 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 204.236.192.0/18 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 204.236.224.0/19 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 204.236.224.0/19 -j DROP $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 79.125.0.0/17 -j LOG --log-prefix "<firewall> EC2 traffic " $IPTBLS -A INPUT -s 79.125.0.0/17 -j DROP

  • Input/ Output alternatives for printf/scanf

    - by Nitish
It may sound strange that knowing a lot about ios and haing some experience in .net, I am a newcomer to C. Somewhere I got this target to find average of n numbers without using printf and scanf. I don't want the code for the program but it will be really helpful if someone can help me with the alternatives to the mentioned functions. Please let me know if code with printf/scanf is required here. Also do let me know if my query stands invalid. Thanks and Regards, Nitish

  • Read the audio input level peak in Cocoa

    - by Kenneth Ballenegger
I'm trying to make an audio-sensitive animation, and for that purpose, I'm looking for a way to look up the current audio level. I'm looking for the peak within a set amount of time. (Think the red bar that stays on for a second or so, on an audio meter.) I've searched around for for something like this, and the only thing I could find was how to read a movie's audio levels, and how Quartz Compositions have access to this thru their iTunes Visualizer protocol. I'm looking for a way to read this from the microphone, although I'm also interested if you know how to read this from an audio file. Thanks!

  • file input - prevent selection of certain types of files and size

    - by Victor
Is there a way to prevent the user from selecting a file that is not a specified file type when they browser for the file on their computer? For example, when a user browseses to upload an image file I would for them to only see images (jpg, png, ect.) that are less than 20mb. Is this something that can be accomplished with asp.net mvc and jquery or do I need to use flash or a java applet?
