  Hi All, I have a function in Access VBA that takes four parameters.The fourth parameter is a "where clause" that I use in an SQL statement inside the function. The function fails when I include the fourth parameter (where clause). When I remove this fourth parameter, the function just works fine. I am not sure if there is anything wrong with the syntax of the fourth parameter ? And I tested in GHCi, the function type is *Main> :t rho rho :: Integral b => b -> [b] If I define a function like this fun x = ((flip mod) x).(\a -> a^2-1) The type is *Main> :t fun fun :: Integral c => c -> c -> c My question is, how can Haskell deduce the function type to b - [b]? • VBA Solution to VLOOKUP with Hyperlinks

  I am looking for some help with a VBA solution for preserving hyperlinks when using VLOOKUP on Excel (2010). I have a load of data on Sheet 1 for internal use only, and a cut-down version of this on Sheet 2. Instead of recreating Sheet 2 everytime, I am looking to have a working version which updates everytime Sheet1 is updated. Thus, I have used VLOOKUP on Sheet 2 so that only the desired info is returned on sheet 2. However, the problem was that sheet 1 contained in many cells Hyperlinks to external websites, and this would not pull through to Sheet2 using VLOOKUP. With some help, however, using the following VBA solution the hyperlinks now pull through: Function GetHyperLink(r As Range) As String If r.Hyperlinks.Count Then GetHyperLink = r.Hyperlinks(1).Address End If End Function And I am using the following formula in the relevant cell(s) in Sheet2: =HYPERLINK(GetHyperLink(INDEX('Sheet 1'!$B$1:$B$10001,MATCH(A4,'Sheet 1'!$A$1:$A$10001,0))),(VLOOKUP(A4,'Sheet 1'!$A$1:$B$10001,2,FALSE))) However, the problem is with formatting: every cell on Sheet2 is formatted blue and underlined, even although some of them do not contain a hyperlink! • Is there a POSIX pathname that can't name a file?

  Are there any legal paths in POSIX that cannot be associated with a file, regular or irregular? That is, for which test -e "$LEGITIMATEPOSIXPATHNAME" cannot succeed? Clarification #1: pathnames By "legal paths in POSIX", I mean ones that POSIX says are allowed, not ones that POSIX doesn't explicitly forbid. I've looked this up, and the are POSIX specification calls them character strings that: Use only characters from the portable filename character set [a-zA-Z0-9._-] (cf. http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/basedefs/xbd_chap03.html#tag_03_276); Do not begin with -; and Have length between 1 and NAME_MAX, a number unspecified for POSIX that is not less than 14. POSIX also allows that filesystems will probably be more relaxed than this, but it forbids the characters NUL and / from appearing in filenames. Note that such a paradigmatically UNIX filename as lost+found isn't FPF, according to this def. There's another constant PATH_MAX, whose use needs no further explanation. The ideal answer will use FPFs, but I'm interested in any example with filenames that POSIX doesn't expressly forbid. Clarification #2: impossibility Obviously, pathnames normally could be bound to a file. But UNIX semantics will tell you that there are special places that couldn't normally have arbitrary files created, like in the /dev directory. Are any such special places stipulated in POSIX? That is what the question is getting after.

• How are thumbnails stored on Mac OS X?

  I have noticed that thumbnails on Mac OS X don't seem to be generated every time I open a folder, but to be somehow "cached" instead. I wasn't able, however, to find a folder where they clearly look to be stored. I thought then they could be saved as some kind of metadata; i found, however, that when deleting a file (e.g. from the Desktop) and saving immediately after a file by the same name, the preview for the previous file is showed for ~ a second. Are they stored separately from data? How and when are they invalidated (e.g. only when a file by the same name appears in the same directory)?

• nginx: location, try_files, rewrite: Find pattern match in subfolder, else move on?

  I'd like for Nginx to do the following: If the uri matches the pattern: http://mysite.com/$string/ and $string is not 'KB', and not 'images', look for $string.html in a specific subfolder. If $string.html exists in the subfolder, return it. If it does not exist, move on to the next matching location. $string = {any letters, numbers, or dash} For example, if the user requests: http://mysite.com/test/ It should look for a file called: /webroot/www/myfolder/test.html I've tried variations of: location ~ /[a-zA-Z0-9\-]+/ { try_files /myfolder/$uri.html @Nowhere; } But: It doesn't seem to find the file even when it does exist, and If it fails (which is always right now), it wants to jump to the @nowhere location, rather than moving on and trying to find another location that matches. I'd like for it to consider the current location "not a match" if the file doesn't exist.

• Android : Bitmap save to location

  I am working on a function to download an image from a web server, redisplay it on the screen, and if the user wishes to keep the image, save it on the SD card in a certain folder. Is there an easy way to take a bitmap and just save it to the SD card in a folder of my choice? My issue is that I can download the image, display it on screen as a Bitmap. The only way I have been able to find to save an image to a particular folder is to use FileOutputStream, but that requires a byte array. I am not sure how to convert (if this is even the right way) from Bitmap to byte array, so I can use a Fileoutput stream to write the data. The other option I have is it use MediaStore : MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(getContentResolver(), bm, barcodeNumber + ".jpg Card Image", barcodeNumber + ".jpg Card Image"); Which works fine to save to SD card, but does not allow you to customize the folder. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  I am just learning jQuery and I wanted to see what I could do with the function below. This function adds or removes css classes to create a pull down menu (it is in fact Stu Nicholl's well known pull down menu). But I'm not getting very far (I've been learning jQuery for approximately an hoour now, so my DOM traversal isn't quite up there yet). I am curious to see how neat and elegant it can become using jQuery, and thought I'd see what you guys could come up with. How I can evaluate i values before it will be posted as argument for the method LoadXML ?

  Hi I'll go straight to it. I'm working on an assignment, where I suddenly ran into trouble. I have to allocate a struct from within another function, obviously using pointers. I've been staring at this problem for hours and tried in a million different ways to solve it. This is some sample code (very simplified): ... some_struct s; printf("Before: %d\n", &s"); allocate(&s); printf("After: %d\n", &s"); ... /* The allocation function */ int allocate(some_struct *arg) { arg = malloc(sizeof(some_struct)); printf("In function: %d\n", &arg"); return 0; } This does give me the same address before and after the allocate-call: Before: -1079752900 In function: -1079752928 After: -1079752900 I know it's probably because it makes a copy in the function, but I don't know how to actually work on the pointer I gave as argument. I tried defining some_struct *s instead of some_struct s, but no luck. I tried with: int allocate(some_struct **arg) which works just fine (the allocate-function needs to be changed as well), BUT according to the assignment I may NOT change the declaration, and it HAS to be *arg.. And it would be most correct if I just have to declare some_struct s.. Not some_struct *s. I hope I make sense and some of you out there can help me :P Thanks in advice

I have an ascx which contains a submit button for a search criteria and I am trying to call a validation function in a js file I've used throughout the site (this is the first time I'm using it in an ascx). This is the function: jQuery.extend({ Validate: function () { does validation... }); Now at first I was getting "Validate() is not a function" in firebug. Since I did that alert testing, I am getting the first alert, then nothing with no errors. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks

• Streamlining my javascript with a function

I'd like to run a function of the parent from the new window, but I want the parent to be able to set the name of this particular function (so it shouldn't be hardcoded in the new windows page). I though about sending the function's name as a query parameter to the new window (where the server side script generates the appropriate function calls in the generated child's HTML), which works, but I was thinking whether there is another, or better way to accomplish this, maybe something that doesn't even require server side tinkering. Pure javascript, server side solutions and jQuery (or other frameworks) are all welcomed.

• Pulling a value from one jQuery function into another

  I'm trying to take the hex value chosen from a jQuery colorpicker plugin, and store it as a cookie using the jQuery cookie plugin. I just don't know the appropriate way to tie the two together (new to js and jQuery).   In Javascript, if we are aliasing a function, such as in: f = g; f = obj.display; obj.f = foo; all the 3 lines above, they will work as long as the function / method on the right hand side doesn't touch this? Since we are passing in all the arguments, the only way it can mess up is when the function / method on the right uses this? Actually, line 1 is probably ok if g is also a property of window? If g is referencing obj.display, then the same problem is there. In line 2, when obj.display touches this, it is to mean the obj, but when f() is invoked, the this is window, so they are different. In line 3, it is the same: when f() is invoked inside of obj's code, then the this is obj, while foo might be using this to refer to window if it were a property of window. (global function). So line 2 can be written as f = function() { obj.display.apply(obj, arguments) } and line 3: obj.f = function() { foo.apply(window, arguments) } Is this the correct method, and are there there other methods besides this?

• how to create a mootools 1.1 function with array

• How to get the Entire Function from a file

  Ok, I'm reading through a file now, line by line. I know each functions name in the file, since it is defined elsewhere in an XML document. That is what should be this: function function_name Where function_name is the name of the function. I get all of the function definitions from an XML document that I already have put into an array of function names, and I need to grab just those functions from the php file. And rebuild that php file so that it only has those functions in it. That is to say, if a php file has more functions than what is defined in the XML tag, than I need to strip out those functions, and rewrite the .php file with only the functions that the user specified in the XML file. So, the dilemma I face is how to determine the END of a function reading line by line, and I'm aware that functions can have function within them. So I don't want to remove the functions within them. Just functions that are standalone and aren't defined within the accompanying XML file. Any ideas on how to do this?? Thanks :)
