  • How to select form input based on label inner HTML?

    - by Shane
I have multiple forms that are dynamically created with different input names and id's. The only thing unique they will have is the inner HTML of the label. Is it possible to select the input via the label inner HTML with jQuery? Here is an example of one of my patient date of birth blocks, there are many and all unique except for innerHTML. <div class="iphorm-element-spacer iphorm-element-spacer-text iphorm_1_8-element-spacer"> <label for="iphorm_081a9e2e6b9c83d70496906bb4671904150cf4b43c0cb1_8">events=Object { mouseover=[1], mouseout=[1]}handle=function()data=Object { InFieldLabels={...}} Patient DOB <span class="iphorm-required">*</span> </label> <div class="iphorm-input-wrap iphorm-input-wrap-text iphorm_1_8-input-wrap"> <input id="iphorm_081a9e2e6b9c83d70496906bb4671904150cf4b43c0cb1_8" class="iphorm-element-text iphorm_1_8" type="text" value="" name="iphorm_1_8">events=Object { focus=[1], blur=[1], keydown=[1], more...}handle=function() </div> <div class="iphorm-errors-wrap iphorm-hidden"> </div> This is in a Wordpress Plugin and because we are building to allow employees to edit their sites (this is actually a Wordpress Network), we do not want to alter the plugin if possible. Note that the label "for" and the input "id" share the same dynamic key, so this might be a way to maybe get the id, but wanted to see if there is a shorter way of doing this.

  • mySQL ORDER BY ASC works, DESC does not...

    - by Ben
    I've "integrated" SMF into Wordpress by querying the forum for a list of the most recent videos from a specific forum board and displaying them on the Wordpress homepage. However when I add the ORDER BY clause, the query (which I tested on other parts of the same page successfully), breaks. To add to the mix, I am using the Auto Embed plugin to allow the videos to be played on the homepage, as well as using a jCarousel feature to rotate them. People were kind enough to help me here last time with the regexp to filter the video urls, I'm hoping for the same luck this time! Here is the entire function (remove the DESC and it works...): function SMF_getRecentVids($limit=10){ global $smf_settingsphp_d; if(file_exists($smf_settingsphp_d)) include($smf_settingsphp_d); include "AutoEmbed-1.4/AutoEmbed.class.php"; $AE = new AutoEmbed(); $connect = new wpdb($db_user,$db_passwd,$db_name,$db_server); $connect->query("SET NAMES 'UTF8'"); $sql = SELECT m.subject, m.ID_MSG, m.body, m.ID_TOPIC, m.ID_BOARD, t.ID_FIRST_MSG FROM {$db_prefix}messages AS m LEFT JOIN {$db_prefix}topics AS t ON (m.ID_TOPIC = t.ID_TOPIC) WHERE (m.ID_BOARD = 8) ORDER BY t.ID_FIRST_MSG DESC"; $vids = $connect->get_results($sql); $c = 0; $content = "imageCarousel_itemList = ["; foreach ($vids as $vid) { if ($c > $limit) continue; //extract video code from body $input = $vid->body; $regexp = "/\b(?:(?:https?|ftp):\/\/|www\.)[-a-z0-9+&@#\/%?=~_|!:,.;]*[-a-z0-9+&@#\/%=~_|]/i"; if(preg_match_all($regexp, $input, $matches)) { $AE->parseUrl($matches[0][0]); $imageURL = $AE->getImageURL(); $AE->setWidth(290); $AE->setHeight(240); $content .= "{url: '".$AE->getEmbedCode()."', title: '".$vid->subject."', caption: '', description: ''},"; } $c++; } $content .= "]"; echo $content; $wpdb = new wpdb(DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME, DB_HOST); }

  • PHP not obeying my defined ETags

    - by Sam Bisbee
What I'm doing I'm pulling an image from the database and sending it to the browser with all the proper headers - the image displays fine. I also send an ETag header, using the SHA1 of the image's content as the tag. The images are getting called semi regularly, so caching is a bit of an issue (won't kill the site, but nice to have). The Problem $_SERVER['HTTP_IF_NONE_MATCH'] is not available to me. As far as I can tell, this is because of PHP's "disobey the cache controls" life style. I can't mess with the session cache limiter, because I don't have access. But, even if I did have access, I wouldn't want to touch it: 99% of the site is under WordPress. The Environment PHP 4 (don't ask) Apache 2.2 WordPress The images live in the database (largeblog), which I can't change. Any guidance, tip/tricks, etc. would be helpful. I don't have much room to change the environmental/structural stuff. Cheers.

  • Is there a tool for managing redundant pages across a website?

    - by dmanexe
I am in charge of constructing a website with a '2-dimensional' site map, as explained later. I am looking for (preferably a Wordpress plugin, as the site is built in Wordpress already) that would make managing thousands of pages a lot easier. To explain further, let me iterate my situation. I am building a website for a construction company, and they have several key cities and several key services. Now, they want a parent page for each service, and another unique page for the child sub-service, and finaly, a grandchild page for the city they are performing the service in. For example, if they were doing Concrete Construction in Los Angeles, the URL would look like: /concrete/construction/los-angeles The content on /los-angeles would be the same as on /malibu, or /burbank. However, there would be a different set of content for /concrete/design/los-angeles, but the entire page content (sans a few variables with city names) would be the same. Is there a way to manage or automate 'matrixing' this information on the site? I am looking for a tool that would allow me to easily add a 'city' with the same content across all grandchildren, per the child's content requirements. All of the grandchildren pages will have redundant content across them. Should something like this not exist, how difficult would it be to create, as a freelance side project? I need a tool like this, because I am approaching about ~500 cities and 50 services (Concrete Construction, Concrete Design, Concrete Engineering, etc)

  • Why might my PHP log file not entirely be text?

    - by Fletcher Moore
I'm trying to debug a plugin-bloated Wordpress installation; so I've added a very simple homebrew logger that records all the callbacks, which are basically listed in a single, ultimately 250+ row multidimensional array in Wordpress (I can't use print_r() because I need to catch them right before they are called). My logger line is $logger->log("\t" . $callback . "\n"); The logger produces a dandy text file in normal situations, but at two points during this particular task it is adding something which causes my log file to no longer be encoded properly. Gedit (I'm on Ubuntu) won't open the file, claiming to not understand the encoding. In vim, the culprit corrupt callback (which I could not find in the debugger, looking at the array) is about in the middle and printed as ^@lambda_546 and at the end of file there's this cute guy ^M. The ^M and ^@ are blue in my vim, which has no color theme set for .txt files. I don't know what it means. I tried adding an is_string($callback) condition, but I get the same results. Any ideas?

  • artisteer wp-theme metadata (date, category) lost

    - by Mattias Svensson
I am going nuts over wordpress and artisteer. I am trying something that used to be pretty straightforward - turning on and off the display of date and post category for my posts on my blog page. I find this in content.php global $post; theme_post_wrapper( array( 'id' => theme_get_post_id(), 'class' => theme_get_post_class(), 'title' => theme_get_meta_option($post->ID, 'theme_show_page_title') ? get_the_title() : '', 'heading' => theme_get_option('theme_single_article_title_tag'), 'before' => theme_get_metadata_icons('date', 'header'), 'content' => theme_get_content() ) ); And the instruction says that all you got to do is insert or remove 'date' in the 'before' line. I've done it back and forth with my content files and nothing changes on the output. I can't find the actual code that prints it all, wordpress used to be so simple before everything was dug down 10 levels deep and you now have to look through millions of different functions to find the simplest things... As you can probably tell, I usually don't work with WP =) But this is on my table now and I haven't stayed up to date with WP for a couple of years... Any input as to where I can find the variables is appreciated... I had expected to at some point find 'posted at '.echo($date).' in category '.echo($category) or something at least remotely similar...

    i am making a simple javascript login form for wordpress. i have the form submitting to the following bit of php to handle the login: <?php get_header(); global $user_ID; if (!$user_ID) { if($_POST){ //We shall SQL escape all inputs $username = $wpdb->escape($_REQUEST['username']); $password = $wpdb->escape($_REQUEST['password']); $remember = $wpdb->escape($_REQUEST['rememberme']); if($remember) $remember = "true"; else $remember = "false"; $login_data = array(); $login_data['user_login'] = $username; $login_data['user_password'] = $password; $login_data['remember'] = $remember; $user_verify = wp_signon( $login_data, false ); //wp_signon is a wordpress function which authenticates a user.   • Worpress WorkFlow Modfications

    - by blgnklc
Hi All WordPress Lovers, I would like to ask a help about Zensor which is a plugin that you publish a post then a moderator approves the post to be published on the wordpress blog site. When a post is awating for approval, each awaiting post is appearing "waiting moderation". But, I dont want any link appears before moderator approval. Actually I found the joing sentence below; 1- Must be added to the end of JOIN part of any query: LEFT JOIN wp_zensor ON ID = wp_zensor.post_id 2- Must be added to the end of WHERE condition : AND wp_zensor.moderation_status = 'approved' Could you please show me; where should I add these modification on the category link presentation below: <h2>Politics</h2> <?php $recent = new WP_Query("cat=31&showposts=1"); while($recent->have_posts()) : $recent->the_post();?> <b><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></b> <?php the_content_limit(140, "devami &raquo;"); ?> <div class="hppostmeta"> <p><?php the_time('j F Y, H:i'); ?> | <?php the_author_posts_link(); ?></p> </div> <?php endwhile; ?> Or any general solutions will be welcomed. • PHP download page: file_exists() returns true, but browser returns 'page not found'

    - by Chris
I'm using PHP for a file download page. Here's a snippet of the problem code: if (file_exists($attachment_location)) { header($_SERVER["SERVER_PROTOCOL"] . " 200 OK"); header("Cache-Control: public"); // needed for i.e. header("Content-Type: application/zip"); header("Content-Transfer-Encoding: Binary"); header("Content-Length:".filesize($attachment_location)); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=file.zip"); readfile($attachment_location); die("Hooray"); } else { die("Error: File not found."); } This code works absolutely fine when testing locally, but after deploying to the live server the browser returns a 'Page not found' error. I thought it might be an .htaccess issue, but all .htaccess files on the live server are identical to their local counterparts. My next guess would be the live server's PHP configuration, but I have no idea what PHP setting might cause this behaviour. The file_exists() function always returns true - I've checked this on the live server and it's always correctly picking up the file, its size etc., so it does have a handle on the file. It just won't perform the download! The main site is a Wordpress site, but this code isn't part of a Wordpress page - it's in a standalone directory within the site root. UPDATE: is_file() and is_readable() are both returning true for the file, so that's not the problem. The specific line that is causing the problem is: readfile($attachment_location) Everything up until that point is super happy.

  • Can notes/to-dos in code comments sent to code-reviews result in an effective refactoring process?

    - by dukeofgaming
I want to start/improve a culture of collective code ownership at my company but at a geographically distributed level... I'd say there is some current collective code-ownership mentality, but only at single geographical sites. This is a follow-up to this question: What is the politically correct way of refactoring other's code? I'm just wondering if submitting *just code comments* for code reviews (we have ReviewBoard, possibly upgrading to Crucible) could actually be an effective mechanism to get the conversation started on improving code, without having others feel territorial about their code. For example, if I add: //ToDo: Refactor this code and that code because of reasons X and Y Then, submit it for code review, and it gets accepted... it could be considered as an agreement (which I think is sometimes harder to get with new code up front). At the same time, the author (and others) might have an easier time digesting and accepting the proposal; rejecting a proposal because it might break things will not longer be a valid reason and therefore the fear of making a change is lost... and at the same time, do not invest 10 hours optimizing something that no one thinks it is worth it and opposes to it just out of fear. This is all conjecture, but I'm feeling something like this (submitting refactoring notes in code comments at the code-review process) would work. Has anyone done something like this in practice?, if so, what have been the results?

  • Sending wordpress title-value across PHP-pages

    - by VoodooBurger
I recently made this wordpress blog, where you can sign up a team for an event, when clicking a link under the event post. This link takes you to a sign-up form on another php-page. The link is added in the loop of the events-template like this: <?php query_posts('cat=8');?> <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <div class="post" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>"> <h2><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></h2> <div id="tilmeldknap"><?php wp_list_pages("title_li=&depth=1&include=63"); ?></div> <?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/inc/meta.php' ); ?>... So every upcoming event will have the same sign-up button. All I need now is to somehow send the specific event-post-title along to the sign-page, so that the following form-submit action will contain that title aswell. But since I'm not very good at php it seems like a mystery, altho I bet it's very simple! I'm guessing it's something like: $event=$_POST['single_post_title()'] But how to get the value to the next php-page I have no idea... please help, anyone :) An eksample can be seen throught this link: http://gadebold.dk/events/ The link sais: 'Tilmeld Hold'

  • Building a survey to put in a WordPress website using Python/Django

    - by chiurox
So I've been given a task to build a survey to get data regarding time slot preferences of prospective students for a particular course. I know there are really quick solutions to this like Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, but since it's not unusually hard, I want to implement the survey myself in a totally new language as an opportunity to get started with it and also be able to customize and provide dynamic info to the users who are voting. Although I have done some stuff in PHP, C++, javascript, etc, I'm pretty new to Python+Django framework but it's something I've been meaning to get into since a long time ago. Initially, what I want is to make a grid with the days of the week as columns and time-durations as rows. In each cell I want to provide users a way to choose how strong (high/medium/low) their preference for this particular day+time is. I also want to show how many "votes" have already been cast for this particular preference because this will influence a lot in their decisions and as a result make this process easier when we are going to define the classes. I'll probably store the data in MySQL. Could anyone point me to some really good Python+Django tutorials for my particular purpose? Does anyone think I'm wasting my time with this trivial task by choosing new tools and that I should just use something I already know (like PHP) or a free service or plugin for Wordpress? Thanks!

  • current_user and Comments on Posts - Create another association or loop posts? - Ruby on Rails

    - by bgadoci
I have created a blog application using Ruby on Rails and have just added an authentication piece and it is working nicely. I am now trying to go back through my application to adjust the code such that it only shows information that is associated with a certain user. Currently, Users has_many :posts and Posts has_many :comments. When a post is created I am successfully inserting the user_id into the post table. Additionally I am successfully only displaying the posts that belong to a certain user upon their login in the /views/posts/index.html.erb view. My problem is with the comments. For instance on the home page, when logged in, a user will see only posts that they have written, but comments from all users on all posts. Which is not what I want and need some direction in correcting. I want only to display the comments written on all of the logged in users posts. Do I need to create associations such that comments also belong to user? Or is there a way to adjust my code to simply loop through post to display this data. I have put the code for the PostsController, CommentsController, and /posts/index.html.erb below and also my view code but will post more if needed. class PostsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate auto_complete_for :tag, :tag_name auto_complete_for :ugtag, :ugctag_name def index @tag_counts = Tag.count(:group => :tag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @ugtag_counts = Ugtag.count(:group => :ugctag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @vote_counts = Vote.count(:group => :post_title, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes unless(params[:tag_name] || "").empty? conditions = ["tags.tag_name = ? • how do i set index priorty on nginx in order to load index.html before wordpress' .php files

    - by orbitalshocK
hello there, gents. I'm an absolute beginner in linux, the CLI, as well as nginx and wordpress. i'm trying to make a 'coming soon' landing page that will take priority over the main wordpress installation i just set up. I want to make .html load before php, or get information on the Best Practices approach to this. I just now realized i could easily use the wordpress' generic "under construction" page and modify it. I'm sure it has one; i'm sure there's a plugin. Stats linode 1024 ubuntu 12.04 nginx 1.6.1 single wordpress installation (for now) set up using easyengine, but going to restart and configure nginx for my linode specifically probably. I managed to find one piece of instruction on how to change the httpd file to specify priority for apache 2, but did not find the same documentation for nginx. If it's not on the first page of google, then serverfault needs the question answered! Viva la Server Fault first page results!

  • How to enable commenting on the Facebook Like Button

    - by digitaldreamer
I'm integrating the Facebook Like Button into a site. The likeing functionality is working fine except that you cannot add comments to your like after you've clicked the like button. Several sites including CNN has this working so this should be possible. The docs mention that you need to use the JavaScript SDK to get commenting to work, which I am doing; however I cannot get commenting to show up. A fuller-featured Like button is available via the XFBML tag and requires you use the new JavaScript SDK. The XFBML version allows users to add a comment to their like as it is posted back to Facebook. I cannot find details on which options are available for this more "fully-featured" XFBML like button. I'm wondering if there is a setting that I need to add, an option that I'm not passing in, or anything that I've overlooked. I am on a dev server, and I'm linking back to the live site for now. Perhaps the ContactURL and the base URL of the liked page need to be the same in order to get commenting to work? Here's how I'm embedding the facebook like button: <!-- facebook --> <div id="fb-root"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({appId: 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXX', status: true, cookie: true, xfbml: true}); }; (function() { var e = document.createElement('script'); e.async = true; e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'; document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e); }()); </script> <!-- facebook --> ... <fb:like href="example.com" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="100" colorscheme="dark"></fb:like>

  • Using JQuery to traverse DOM structure, finding a specific <table> element located after HTML 'comme

    - by Shadow
I currently have a website source code (no control over the source) which contains certain content that needs to be manipulated. This would be simple on the surface, however there is no unique ID attribute on the tag in question that can uniquely identify it, and therefore allow for further traversal. Here is a snippet of the source code, surrounding the tag in question. ... <td width="100%"> <!--This table snaps the content columns(one or two)--> <table border="0" width="100%"> ... Essentially, the HTML comment stuck out as an easy way to gain access to that element. Using the JQuery comment add-on from this question, and some help from snowlord comment below, I have been able to identify the comment and retrieve the following output using the 'dump' extension. $('td').comments().filter(":contains('This table snaps the content columns(one or two)')").dump(); returns; jQuery Object { 0 = DOMElement [ nodeName: DIV nodeValue: null innerHTML: [ 0 = String: This table snaps the content columns(one or two) ] ] } However I am not sure how to traverse to the sibling element in the DOM. This should be simple, but I haven't had much selector experience with JQuery. Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Is it rude to add "TODO: wtf?" in source code?

    - by mafutrct
I encountered something ... well, you know TDWTF... something like that in an international project I'm working on. The code was written by a team mate. For a second I was tempted to add // TODO: wtf? to the infringing code but restrained myself. The project is indeed on a professional level, but for internal conversation, more colloquial language is used - but still no "bad" words as in "wtf". Usually, I'd surely not add such a comment, but I believe there are a few factors that allow consideration still: 1. It is not visible except as a comment in the source code (of course). 2. It is internal to our team - other developers may happen see it but it is not their code. 3. Comments in source code are usually accepted to be more colloquial, since it is "kept between us developers". Would you totally advise to never add such a comment? Or do you regard it as an edge case? Did you possibly add something similar yourself?

This Wordpress site works fine in Firefox and Safari. However viewing in Explorer 7 (don't care about 6) breaks the header/navigation area. Weirdly enough, refreshing the page fixes the alignment issue, but then hides the header. http://anothersideof.me Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Blog: How does Lifehacker implement their comment system?

    - by NickT
I really like how Lifehacker.com (and Gawker.com) implements their comment system. I believe, but am not certain, they use Movable Type as the platform for their blog. What I like about their comment system is that it's a simple open text field and once you click "Share" it then asks you to register. Question: Anyone know how to accomplish this same functionality with either Wordpress or Movable Type?

How do I get around this?
