can you customize adobe acrobat reader "security warning"

We need to insert a web beacon (i know taboo) in to adobe PDFs to know when they are opened, as one of our clients is moving to a model of "giving" their documents away and following up repeat viewers for subscriptions. Its not enough to be able to provide a download, they want to attach the PDF to an email and "blast" to directed recipients (double-opt-in etc). Adding the javascript to the pdf is easy enough: (iText) and the "openAction" event. However the security box pops up and displays: "Security Warning" "Document is trying to connect to 'xxxx.yyy.com' if you trusty the site choose Allow. If do not trust the site choose Block" [help] [allow] [block] I don't think we need to completley overhaul the dialogue box, I just think we need to change the middle text to be more descriptive of why we are doing it. Loaded AS2 SWF into AS3 SWF as AVM1Movie doesn't run any actionscript in the AS2 SWF

I appreciate loading AS2 into AS3 is never going to be fun, but unfortunately I have to on this one. I'm using the Loader Class in AS3 to load an external AS2 SWF onto the stage as a AVM1Movie Object. Anything that is placed on the stage in the AS2 FLA displays fine, but no ActionScript runs at all. The loaded AS2 SWF has one layer, one frame and a few images in the library but nothing heavy. I've tried stripping everything out of the script other than a simple call to change the text on a dynamic textfield on the stage - still nothing. I have a listener in AS3 waiting for Event.INIT rather than Event.COMPLETE - but neither works. Am I missing something? Anyone else experienced anything similar? It's like it loads but doesn't run.

Hey MVC experts. I two database entities that i need to represent and i need to output them in a single page. I have something like this Views Def ViewA ViewB Test ViewC I want to ViewC to display ViewA, which displays ViewB. Right now i'm using something like this: // View C  <% Html.RenderPartial(Url.Content("../Definition/DefinitionDetails"), i); %> // View A  <% Html.RenderPartial(Url.Content("../Definition/DefinitionEditActions")); %> Is there a better to do this? I find that linking with relative pathnames can burn you. Any tips? Any chance I can make somehtiing like... Html.RenderPartial("Definition","DefinitionDetails",i); ? Thanks for the help

Facebook Graph Api doesn't redirect to my callback

I am following the steps to do the authorization as described here, but I am not redirected to my callback url. If I log in, or I am already logged in I am presented with the home page. I use my application key, and the connect url of the app I've setup in FB Developers page. What I am doing wrong, why I am not redirected to my url?

How to turn off particular monitor in C#?

OK, I know there are quite a few posts on this topic. However, none of them provide the solution to my issue: I don't want just to turn off my monitor(s), I wish my code to turn off a specific monitor. The URL the most people refer to, http://fci-h.blogspot.com/2007/03/turn-off-your-monitor-via-code-c.html, doesn't help here, as it turns off all the displays. So, I have my laptop screen and an additional external monitor. While I'm watching movies, I switch the display to the external monitor and my laptop screen goes black, however, it's still on and glowing in the dark. I wish to turn it off. Could anyone help please? Thanks.

How to prevent non-admin user from disabling the Outlook 2007Addin?

As per the MSDN documentation with the Office 2007 system, office Addins are registered under HKCU and not under HKLM. I have an Outlook 2007 addin which is also registered under HKCU. But the problem is that, even non admin users can also disable the addin since it is in HKCU. However with Outlook2003 addin this was not possible because it got registered in HKLM. I also see some of the Outlook 2007 addins that are registered under HKLM like Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin, Microsoft outlook Mobile service. When a non admin user tries to disable it, outlook displays a pop up message saying that these addins are registered in HKLM and user does not have the permission to disable it. So How can I register my Outlook 2007 addin under HKLM like these?

Show CMFCRibbonStatusBar

Hi, I'm creating a simple SDI app using the new VS2008 service pack. I added ribbon support but all I want on the ribbon are the Open & Close buttons. I commented out all the code that creates the other default buttons and categories but doing this also gets rid of the status bar (CMFCRibbonStatusBar). I can't find what member function is called when I click the checkbox that displays the statusbar in the default generated code. I've tried the following but it doesn't work: m_wndStatusBar.ShowWindow( SW_SHOWNORMAL ); How do I have the status bar showing without having to have the 'Home' category and 'View' panel (with the 'Show status bar' checkbox) being generated? ASP.NET ReportViewer Google Chrome CPU usage

Hello, We have found an interesting issue between ASP.NET 3.5 and ReportViewer with Google Chrome. Our set of pages work fine until a ReportViewer control displays a report. Google Chrome then eats up 50% of the CPU doing nothing it seems. I've extracted the ReportViewer control to a blank Web Forms project to confirm its that control and not a rogue bit of my code. I'm using ReportViewer in local mode (RDLC file) so I presume its the 2005 version? Anyone seen this before and have a solution? jQuery .post gets null data

Hey everyone. This is my first post here, so I hope I'm doing it appropriately. I have several jQuery $.post calls that work just fine. They send data to a PHP script that modifies a database and returns some data. No problem. But this one doesn't work. The returned data is just NULL. $.post("act_addTaskLog.php", {description: $("#logFormDescription").val(), complete: $("#logFormComplete").is(':checked'), taskId: $("#logFormTaskId").val(), user: <?php echo $_SESSION['user']; ?>}, function(data) { alert("data: " + data); } ); I've tried everything I can think of, to no avail. I've even tried just one line in my PHP script: die("true"); Firebug shows that the script is being executed, but it's not completing. The alert message displays just with the label "data:" in it, no actual data. Thanks in advance for your help!

Where these OFX API's are available? Are they free or we need to pay and get access to those API? What is data format ( xml, xml/atom, json) ? Any article or document to understand this requirement and start developing? Any open source software where I can download the code and customize it? FYI : I am working on C#.Net. NetBeans behaves differently if project is run via "Run Project" or build.xml>run

I slightly modified the build-impl.xml file of my NetBeans project. (Specifically, I made it to insert build time into program code). If I run project via build.xml "run" target, I get behavior I expect - the program displays build time and date. But if I run project using standard (and most obvious, used it always) button "Run Main Project", I get totally another result (no build date). Moreover, if I insert any code into build.xml, I still get result if I run the target explicitly and no result if it is run simply by NetBeans. And this leads me to conclusion, that this button uses another method to run my application. My question is: what does that button do? What method does it call? And can it be configured to run the needed target of make file?

iPad Simulator WebView/Google Maps API Issue

I've only recently updated XCode to 3.2.2 and started to play with the iPad simulator. I am having an issue with a WebView. I am using it to load a url with a Google Maps API implementation. The map loads and displays properly but when I try and click and drag on it to pan the map around instead of the map being panned the whole webview is scrolled vertically, revealing the dark grey background. When I release it it bounces back into place. Also when I hold the option key down to pinch the map it does not respond. If I load the map.google.com page the map pans just fine and is responsive, but not my one. No special code here, just the usual NSUrlRequest. It works fine in the iPhone simulator, but not the iPad simulator. User Interaction Enabled is also checked. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

DataAnnotations Automatic Handling of int is Causing a Roadblock

Summary: DataAnnotation's automatic handling of an "int?" is making me rethink using them at all. Maybe I'm missing something and an easy fix but I can't get DataAnnotations to cooperate. I have a public property with my own custom validation attribute: [MustBeNumeric(ErrorMessage = "Must be a number")] public int? Weight { get; set; } The point of the custom validation attribute is do a quick check to see if the input is numeric and display an appropriate error message. The problem is that when DataAnnotations tries to bind a string to the int? is automatically doesn't validate and displays a "The value 'asdf' is not valid for Weight." For the life of me I can't get DataAnnotations to stop handling that so I can take care of it in my custom attribute. This seems like it would be a popular scenario (to validate that the input in numeric) and I'm guessing there's an easy solution but I didn't find it anywhere.

AJAX get data from large HTML page as the large HTML page loads

Not entirely sure whether this has a name but basically I have a large HTML page that is generated from results in a db. So viewing the HTML page (which is a report) in a browser directly does not display all contents immediately but displays what it has and additional HTML is added as the results from the DB are retrieved... Is there a way I can make an AJAX request to this HTML page and as opposed to waiting until the whole page (report) is ready, I can start processing the response as the HTML report is loaded? Or is there another way of doing it? Atm I make my AJAX response it just sits there for a minute or two until the HTML page is complete... If context is of any use: The HTML report is generated by a Java servlet and the page making the AJAX call is a JSP page. Unfortunately I can't very easily break the report up because it is generated by BIRT (Eclipse reporting extension). Thanks in advance.

Character Encoding, UTF or ANSI?

I'm using Eclipse in Ubuntu to edit PHP files. But, unfortunately, some of these PHP files were created in Notepad++ in Windows XP, with ANSI encoding defined. Also, these files generates HTML codes with charset=ISO-8859-1. When I configured Eclipse to ISO-8859-1, many special characters were lost and changed to '???', and when I try to save a file with ISO enconding, Eclipse displays an error that was not possible to save the file because some characters aren't compatible with the charset. How can I save these files without changing the encoding, or how can I change the encoding without lose characters.

XFBML fb:login_button only loading 20% of the time

I have a fb:login-button that is working but the button only displays about 20% of the time I load the page. Have a look here to see what I mean, bearing in mind I have never had to refresh the page more than 20 times before I finally turns up. Coerce Windows to show a thumbnail for my custom file type.

Hi, I want to use the windows OpenFileDialog class in C# to browse files for my application. I would then like the files to show up with previews in Windows' "thumbnails" view. Is there a simple way to make this happen? I'm thinking there should be a way to encode the files so that Windows simply reads and displays the thumbnail information, even though it's an unsupported file type? I know Windows Vista has a different interface (IThumbnailProvider as opposed to IExtractImage) than Windows XP, but I need it to work across platforms. Thanks! / Jakob

ASP.NET Charting Control no longer working with .NET 4

I've just upgraded to .NET 4 and my ASP.NET Chart Control no longer displays. For .NET 3.5, the HTML produced by the control used to look like this: <img id="20_Chart" src="/ChartImg.axd?i=chart_5f6a8fd179a246a5a0f4f44fcd7d5e03_0.png&g=16eb7881335e47dcba16fdfd8339ba1a" alt="" style="height:300px;width:300px;border-width:0px;" /> and now, for .NET 4, it looks like this (note the change in the source path): <img id="20_Chart" src="/Statistics/Summary/ChartImg.axd?i=chart_5f6a8fd179a246a5a0f4f44fcd7d5e03_0.png&g=16eb7881335e47dcba16fdfd8339ba1a" alt="" style="height:300px;width:300px;border-width:0px;" /> The chart is in an MVC partial view that is in an MVC Area folder called "Statistics" and a MVC Views folder called "Summary" (i.e. "/Areas/Statistics/Views/Summary"), so this is obviously where the change of path is coming from. All I've done is to switch the System.Web.DataVisualization assembly from, 3.5 to 4.0. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi to all, I keep my Process Documents on SVN and I want to create a Wiki page includes the information about these files. We use SharePoint in the company for basic document sharing and team sites. As it is mentioned in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/256407/what-are-your-biggest-complaints-about-sharepoint SharePoint Wiki lacks of usability. I need an easy to use wiki tool which is capable of showing the content like WikiPedia contents and it would be great if I could have the SharePoint tree view and Active Directory authentication also. I googled it and found Atlassian's Confluence and it seems that this product is capable of the requirements. We use Jira for issue tracking, so we can use it's reporting in dashboards. I need and it has a Wiki part which displays wiki pages in tree view. It should be like Does anyone used Confluence or have an idea for other products which meets my requirements

UIScrollView and UIImage in it with paging enabled

Hello guys! I need to display 10 - 1000 images on a UIScrollView. Paging is enabled. So every page of the scrollview is an image, it is an uiimage. I can load 10 images to 10 uiimages which stays in the memory, but with 1000 images I have problems on the iPhone or on the iPad. I am trying to unload and then load the images when I am doing scrolling. I every time displays 3 images. The current page image, and the -1 and +1 pages. When I am scrolling I unload the image and then load the next. With this method I have two problems. The scrolling is laggy and if I scroll very fast the images don't appear. Maybe is there any good solution for these problems? Can you suggest me one?

iPhone: launch image for tab app?

I have a tab-based iPhone app where I want to increase the perceived start-up speed with a launch image. As defined by the iPhone HIG, the launch image is a screenshot of your app (called Default.png) that is displayed immediately and looks very similar to the app's first screen (e.g., the screenshot of an empty table when the app displays a table first). Now the problem with a tab-based app is that users can rearrange the order of tabs so that any of the tabs may be the first tab to show upon launch. I think I read somewhere that you can't change the Default.png programmatically in your app, but I couldn't find that in the HIG (and the "Clock" app seems to do exactly that - having one launch image per tab). So, how do provide a launch image for a tab-based app?

How do I replace a modal view controller?

I'm using a modal view controller to allow a user to select an address book entry and email address. The ABPeoplePickerNavigationController object is displayed via presentModalViewController:animated: [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; What I want to do is keep the modal dialog up, but when the user selects the email address, it should cross-fade to a different controller that displays a message composition window. I've tried various approaches in peoplePickerNavigationController:shouldContinueAfterSelectingPerson:property:identifier: to dismiss the picker and set my custom composition controller as the modal view. I can do it any number of ways, but never does it fade smoothly from the picker to the composition controller -- unless I make the composition controller a modal dialog of the picker, in which case the picker re-appears when I dismiss the composition controller. I don't want that, either. There must be some way to smoothly replace one controller and its view with another controller and its view, all within the context of a modal dialog, and preferably with a cross fade. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Firefox extension that overlays persistent iFrame?

Is it possible to build a Firefox extension that displays a floating, persistent iFrame over the page content? I know it's possible to add iFrames using XUL. For instance, you can add an iFrame to a persistent sidebar. However, I want the iFrame to float over the page content, not cause the content to shrink. So far, my only option is to add the iFrame to the DOM, then use CSS "fixed" positioning to float the iFrame. The iFrame must also persist across page loads, exactly as the sidebar does. Adding an iFrame to the DOM, unfortunately, causes the iFrame to vanish when the browser renders a new page (e.g., after clicking a link). Any clues? Thanks!
