• problem in opening a link to .rar file

  Hi all, In my jsp, I have a hyperlink linking to a .rar file in the system. Somehow when I clicked on the link, it does not ask users to 'save file' or 'open file' nor using 7zip to open the .rar file. Instead, it just displays some junk characters on the web page. I thought it might be the problem with mime-mapping. So I put an mime-mapping to web.xml with mime-type=application/x-rar-compressed. But it still doesn't work. Do you have any idea what the problem is and how to solve it? Thanks a lot in advance. Other file types have no problem. Kenneth

  I have an ASP.NET web page that displays a variety of fields that need to be updated best on certain conditions, button clicks and so on. We've implemented AJAX, using the ASP.NET Update Panel to avoid visible postbacks. Originally there was only one area that needed this ability ... that soon expanded to other fields. Now my web page has multiple UpdatePanels. I am wondering if it would be best to just wrap the entire form in a single UpdatePanel, or keep the individual UpdatePanels. What are the best practices for using the ASP.NET UpdatePanel?

• iPhone image distortion

  Are there any reasons why the simulator will display UIImageViews properly, but incorrectly on the iPhone? My Process: An image in a PNG file Start a UIGraphicsBeginImageContext() Draw the PNG in a CGrect Draw text in the CGRect Create an UIImage from the context Set the image of a UIImaveView to the UIImage Set the frame of the UIImageView to the size of the PNG Add as a subview Outcome: The image does not display correctly. The rightmost 1-3 pixels of the image is just a vertical white line. This occurs only on the device and not on the simulator. I can fix the problem, but only by increasing the size of the UIImageView. If I increase the size.height of the UIImageView by 1 pixel, it displays the UIImage correctly. Of course, these leaves the iPhone to scale my image before drawing it on screen which is not desirable. Any ideas why this occurs or any fixes for it? (I will post my code if needed)

• Dinamically creating a member ID card as pdf using PHP?

  I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birth day along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP librarys out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas? • Viewing HTML inside Applet without using JEditorPane

  Hello, I have a small (500kb) swing applet that displays very simple/limited set of small HTML page(s) inside it with JEditorPane, however this does not seem to work 100% fluently, some customers get a blank page displayed without any java exceptions. The page works OK from my machine. I need a more reliable way to show HTML page to all our users.   I have a combo box in which I set up an ItemTemplate that looks something like this: <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Piece.NoPiece}" Width="50" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Piece.Description}" Width="170" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Piece.Categorie.NomCategorie}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> As you can see, I got three columns that let the user see different piece of information. However, I would like the selected item in the combo to display only the second column. In other word, is there a way to have an ItemTemplate that displays items in a different manner when you scroll down versus when it's closed and you only see the selection?

  Hello, looking for some help with images referenced within the stylesheet. I have no problems with these from non secure locations within the site but only from https. The stylesheet loads fine and displays everything correctly except for the images. example: body { margin: 0; padding: 0; background: url(/img/background_tile.gif) top left repeat-x; text-align: center; background-color: #fff; } All my css files and other image paths inside the code use relative urls to images. How can I make sure they all work fine without hard coding my image paths with https or http? I want the code to work fine with http and https. Thanks

• How Do I Intercept Banner in WordPress?

  My client wants me to make a plugin that intercepts the banner on a WordPress blog so that the existing one displays, but right beneath it, above the content and the sidebar, another banner appears. And he needs it such that it works in most themes and isn't theme-specific. I found I could use add_action('loop_start','interceptMe') to put something at the top before posts or a single post, but it still left the sidebar on the right. I have tried using add_action('all','test') to dump out different intercepts to see if I could figure this out, but I just can't seem to get it yet. I'm thinking I may have to intercept all esc_html calls and contextually inspect that until I find one used for the banner. Does anyone know how to intercept the banner to add another one right beneath it?

• Works using Django development server, but throws import error with Apache using mod_wsgi

  I have a Django project that works fine with the development server that comes with it. No errors are produced at all when I use "django manage.py runserver" and the app works fine, but when I try to use it with mod_wsgi and Apache the browser displays "Internal Server Error" with a 500 error code and it generates an import error in the Apache error log. Here's the error in the log: ImportError: No module named registration I'm using the Django registration module which is located in a path like this: /opt/raj/photos/registration I know that the registration app is in the path because I can fire up a Python shell, import sys, and get a list of paths using sys.path. Here are some of the paths output from Python shell: sys.path ['', '/opt/raj/pyamf', '/opt/raj', '/opt/raj/pictures', '/opt/raj/pictures /registration', '/usr/lib/python2.6',....] Any thoughts would be appreciated.

• how should I order my divs?

  Here's the basic layout of a page I'm working on: What would be the best/easiest way to order the divs? C may or may not be visible (it's a news alert that only displays when there is news). A = Header, B = Menu, E&F = standard content columns, D = latest blog post. I'm thinking ABCEFD might make the most sense, but I could also see ABCDEF. Either of those should be fairly easy to do right using floats... is there a better way? Maybe put CEF inside a "middle column" div?

  When creating a web application that some how displays the display of a unique identifier for a recurring entity (videos on YouTube, or book section on a site like mine), would it be better to use a uniform length identifier like a hash or the unique key of the item in the database (1, 2, 3, etc). Besides revealing a little, what I think is immaterial, information about the internals of your app, why would using a hash be better than just using the unique id? In short: Which is better to use as a publicly displayed unique identifier - a hash value, or a unique key from the database? Edit: I'm opening up this question again because Dmitriy brought up the good point of not tying down the naming to db specific property. Will this sort of tie down prevent me from optimizing/normalizing the database in the future? The platform uses php/python with ISAM /w MySQL.

• On-screen keyboard not appearing when editing text fields in a UIWebView

  I have a web view which displays a simple login form, containing username and password fields. However when the user clicks in one of the text fields, although the cursor appears in the text field, the on-screen keyboard does not appear. I've tried registering for UIKeyboardWillShowNotifications notifications and I see this notification arrive, however the keyboard doesn't actually appear on the screen. I've also tried sending the web view to the back of the view hierarchy and changing it's frame so it doesn't occupy the whole screen. However neither of these measures have solved the problem. What would people recommend trying next?

  Hello, I'm currently developing an application to allow students to manage their courses, and I don't really know how to design the database for a specific feature. The client wants, a lot like Facebook, that when a student displays the list of people currently in a specific course, the people with the most mutual courses are displayed first. As an additional feature, I would like to add a search feature to allow students to search for another one, and displaying first in the search results the people with most mutual courses. I currently use MySQL, I plan to use Cassandra for some other features, and I also use Memcached for result caching. Thanks.

I need to do something like this I need to have an separate UI for all the products that have came from that bulk action, and then put them into the selected categories, but I am not able to do that.   I'd like to display a colorbar representing an image's raw values along side a matplotlib imshow subplot which displays that image, normalized.   When running our Silverlight 3 application out-of-browser, startup takes a little time, but it's long enough to be noticeable. During this startup, the background of the window hosting the application displays an ugly white background color. When running in-browser, we have a splash screen, but that's loaded via JavaScript of course. How can I get a splash screen working for an out-of-browser Silverlight 3? Or if that's not possible, is there a way I can at least change the background color of the window?

• codeigniter site, swfobject not fully loading swf

  I am having a strange problem. I have a view that is supposed to load a swf. The swf was compiled with Flex and the mxml preloader displays but it loads a blank screen. When I path directly to the file it loads fully and works fine.   There are so many lightboxes to choose from, I'm looking for a very lightweight one to use in an embedded javascript widget that would be used on a number of different web sites. This would work in a similar way to the GetSatisfaction/UserVoice feedback tab. Here are the requirements for the lightbox: Very small javascript download (animation not needed) Self contained, not dependent on any libraries such as jquery, etc. Works in major browsers Lightbox displays HTML content from a given URL Close button (like GetSatisfaction or UserVoice) Dims background Avoids javascript namespace conflicts (or can easily be made to avoid them) CSS styling of lightbox does not interfere with site styling Have you used an existing lightbox scripts for this same purpose with similar requirements? • ShowDialog won't run

  I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

• How do I include 2 tables in LocalStorage?

  I've got a table that you can edit, and I've got a simple code saving that list when you're done with editing it. (the tables have the contenteditable on) The problem I've stumbled upon is that if I double click on enter, the table gets divided into two separate tables with the same ID. This causes the code I'm using to set the localStorage to only store one of the tables (I assume the first).. I've thought of different solutions and I wonder if someone could point out the pro's and con's (if the solutions even works that is). Make a loop that checks the page after tables and stores them into an array of localStorage-items.. I'd have to dynamically create a localStorage item for each table. Take the whole div that the tables are in, and store that in the localStorage, when a user revisits the page, the page checks after the items in storage and displays the whole divs. Any suggestions you have that can beat this :).. (but no cache, it has to be with the localStorage!) Thanks

• Unable to display data in a WPF datagrid that has a DataView instance as the items source

  I am using a DataGrid object from the WPF toolkit. I am binding the DataGrid object to the default view of a DataTable instance as declared in the following code: WeatherGrid.ItemsSource = weatherDataTable.DefaultView; weatherDataTable has three columns. The first column is defined to contain a string data type. The other two columns are defined to contain double data types. When the application exits the function that calls the binding as expressed in the declaration, The DataGrid object displays data for the first column, but not the other columns. When I type the following in the immediate window in the debugger: ((DataRowView)WeatherGrid.Items[0]).Row[1] I get a number, but this doesn't correspond with what is being displayed. Why is only the first column visible, and how can I get all of the data to be visible? • How do I display a local html file in a UIWebView?

  I have a relatively simple question that I cannot seem to find the answer for. While doing the Google Maps Java API Tutorials, I ran into a problem. I can load an HTML file from the web, but when I try it locally, it just displays the contents of the file instead of running the script. Here's what works: NSString *url = @"http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/v3/examples/geocoding-simple.html"; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; [webView loadRequest:request]; I want to store the HTML file locally and run it from the device itself, so I tried: [webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"geocoding-simple" ofType:@"html"]isDirectory:NO]]]; and it just displayed the contents of the file.
