Using Ribbon as tab control

I would like to create application with ribbon interface that looks and behaves like this: application have one main form with ribbon ribbon has multiple tabs when user switches tab on ribbon, panel below ribbon changes and displays content related to ribbon panel. That way, ribbon tab acts as if it is tab over whole window. For example, ribbon have two tabs: people and tasks. When current ribbon panel is "people", below ribbon is displayed grid with people data. Ribbon contains command for manipulating people data. When user switches to "tasks" tab on ribbon, application should display form with tasks below ribbon. Question is can ribbon be used in this scenario? I read "OFFICE FLUENT™ USER INTERFACE DESIGN GUIDELINES" that describe what you can and cannot do with ribbon, but I could not find anything about this.

lwjgl applets 101: How can I write them?

I have a working app in lwjgl. It doesn't do much yet; I've just started, but it does compile and run like it's supposed to. I want to make it into an applet. I've followed the guide here, and I have an applet that runs nicely and displays text and such in the applet area and can access the functions of lwjgl (like Sys.alert), but I can't figure out how to get opengl to actually render. I've tried extending an AWTGLCanvas and calling this.add(myAWTGLCanvas), where this is the Applet that I'm using, but... nothing. The initGL() and paintGL() methods never get called. I wonder if I'm supposed to be doing something with Display, but that's not for applets, right? Help? Also: This counts as a "beginner" question, right?

How to Redirect Visual Studio F12 Shortcut Key to Object Browser in C# Project

For C# projects, I would like to have the F12 "Go to Definition" shortcut key to open the Object Browser and select the type under the cursor position. This is the behavior for VB.NET projects, which I really like. I think the Object Browser is more helpful than IntelliSense in some cases. I really do not need a text representation of the metadata. How do I duplicate the F12 / "Go to Definition" functionality in a C# project? Is there a different shortcut key for C#? I am not talking about the Alt+Ctrl+J shortcut key that displays the Object Browser.

UIImages not displaying in TableView on iPhone, but working in Simulator

Hi, I have a UITable View that displays an image in the left hand side of the table cell, and it works fine in the simulator. Only problem is, once I ran it on my device no images appear. It's just a blank white space. Have checked that images are added to resource folder for build (which they are) and that capitals etc. match (which they do). Any ideas? Thanks. I have main UIView where I display different data. Then I put a button, which displays subview like this: - (IBAction) buttonClicked: (id) sender { UIView *newView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(25,25,50,20)]; UILabel *newLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(25,25, 50,25)]; newLabel.text = @"some text"; [newView addSubview: newLabel]; [self.view addSubview: newView]; [newLabel release]; [newView release]; } newView appears fine, but it doesn't animate itself any way, it just appears immediately. How can I add some kind of animation when newView appears? Like zoom or slide down or something like that. Is there some simple code?

eclipse debugger: attaching source-code of maven managed libraries

I'd like to use the source code of maven-managed dependencies when debugging our webapp in eclipse. I have managed to attach the sources to the libraries in the "Maven Managed Depedencies" classpath container, i.e. when I open a class file from a depedency (e.g. using Ctrl-Shift-T), I see the source code. However, when I launch the tomcat within eclipse, and execution halts on a breakpoint in that same class, the editor pane only displays the text "source not found", and a button to edit the "source lookup path". I have attempted to manually add the "Maven Managed Dependencies" classpath container, only to be told "Use maven project settings to configure depedency resolution". However, I see no useful setting in that property pane ... How can I attach those sources?

PHP exec() on windows not working

Hey, I'm trying to execute a program on windows through PHP, the command is posted below. This doesn't seem to be running through the script at all, even though it works when the command is manually entered into the command prompt. exec('C:\\ffmpeg -i ' . $movedfile . How to return model state from child action handler in ASP.NET MVC

In my blog engine, I have one controller action that displays blog content, and in that view, I call Html.RenderAction(...) to render the "CreateComment" form. When a user posts a comment, the post is handled by the comment controller (not the blog controller). If the comment data is valid, I simply return a Redirect back to the blog page's URL. If the comment data is invalid (e.g. comment body is empty), I want to return the ViewData with the error information back to the blog controller and through the blog view to the CreateComment action/view so I can display which fields are bad. I have this working fine via AJAX when Javascript is enabled, but now I'm working on the case where Javascript might be disabled. If I return a RedirecToAction or Redirect from the comment controller, the model state information is lost. Any ideas?

multicolumn sorting of WinForms DataGridView

I have a DataGridView in a windows form with 3 columns: Serial number, Name, and Date-Time. The Name column will always have either of the two values: "name1" or "name2". I need to sort these columns such that the grid displays all the rows with name values in a specific order (first display all the "name1" rows and then all the "name2" rows). Within the "name1" rows, I want the rows to be sorted by the Date-Time. Please note programmatically, all the 3 columns are strings. For example, if I have the rows: 01 |Name1 | 2010-05-05 10:00 PM 02 |Name2 | 2010-05-02 08:00 AM 03 |Name2 | 2010-05-01 08:00 AM 04 |Name1 | 2010-05-01 11:00 AM 05 |Name1 | 2010-05-04 07:00 AM needs to be sorted as 04 |Name1 | 2010-05-01 11:00 AM 05 |Name1 | 2010-05-04 07:00 AM 01 |Name1 | 2010-05-05 10:00 PM 03 |Name2 | 2010-05-01 08:00 AM 02 |Name2 | 2010-05-02 08:00 AM I am not sure how to go about using the below: myGrid.Sort(.....,ListSortDirection.Ascending)

jQuery ajax doesn't seem to be reading HTML data in Chromium

I have an HTML (App) file that reads another HTML (data) file via jQuery.ajax(). It then finds specific tags in the data HTML file and uses text within the tags to display sort-of tool tips. StringLengthValidator - localization not working

I am validating input to my ASP.NET application using StringLengthValidators, and using the ValidationSummary control to display the error messages. To localize the application, the StringLengthValidators have the MessageTemplateResourceName and MessageTemplateResourceType attributes set. The first time the validator runs, it picks up the correct error message based on the current culture setting. If I change the language setting while running the app, the next time the validator runs, the ValidationSummary it still displays the error message for the old culture. The text for all other controls is being updated correctly. Any ideas, folks?

Fb:photo not rendering anything

I'm trying to display a photo on my facebook connected website. From Facebook's documentation you just need to use valid XFBML and a fb:photo tag as such: <div id="myPhoto"> <fb:photo pid="12345"></fb:photo> </div> My problem is that doesn't render anything when I call: FB.XFBML.Host.parseDomElement(document.getElementById("myPhoto")); If I call the same XFBML on a regular facebook page, it displays without problem, the bug is only on a separated website using facebook connect. Also, I don't get any JS errors. Any help would be appreciated

WPF listbox : problem with selection

In my XAML file, I have a ListBox declared like this : <ListBox x:Name="lstDeck" Height="280" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Deck}" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem Content="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> In my view model, Deck is an ObservableCollection, so that binding directly displays the content of my collection. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?

Hi, I am trying to create a very basic\ minimalistic playlist application for http://www.google.co.in/music. Basically Google music displays links to song and when clicked it opens flash based player. Using my application i am collecting music links into a list box, when an song is clicked it opens the link in a separate webbrowser and it starts playing. As of now to achieve playlist functionality i also collect the time for each song and based on that i create a timer, once the time is over it switches to other song. My Question here is that, is it possible to detect when the flash player is done playing music. Currently the timer functionality that i have built is not reliable. How to solve/hack fading semi-transparent PNG bug in IE8?

As you know, IE6 has bug that can't display semi-transparent PNG file without using non-standard style like filter. In IE7, this problem is fixed. But It still has some bug about PNG file. It can't correctly display fading semi-transparent PNG file. You can clearly see it when you use show/hide function in jQuery with semi-transparent PNG file. The background of image is displayed with non-transparent black color. Do you have any idea for solve this question by using jQuery. Update Let's see my testing As you see, IE8 always incorrectly displays PNG-24 image. Moreover, IE8 still correctly display PNG-8 image when I fade(jQuery.fadeOut function) it only. Resharper doesn't play well with XAML?

I've been noticing a pattern with ReSharper (both 4.5 and 5). Very often (almost always) when I have solution-wide analysis turned on, and WPF code in my solution, ReSharper will mark a number of the .xaml.cs files as being broken. When I navigate to the file, sometimes it magically updates and displays no errors, and other times I have to open other files that are not being correctly read and close them again to force resharper to correctly analyze them. I assume it has something to do with the temporary .cs code that is generated with XAML, but does anyone know why this is actually happening, and if there is a work around? Should I just file a bug report with JetBrains? Does anyone else experience this?

Why is LOGON_USER Server Variable is blank on New Windows / New Tab?

We are noticing some very strange behavior on an installation of a .NET2-based webapp on Server 2008. Our app uses "old school" Integrated Windows Authentication and simply reads the LOGIN_USER server variable from the request collection. There's a good reason for this, but that's somewhat irrelevant to the question, since the underlying WindowsAuthentication code from ASP.NET does the same thing. Anyway... When you enter the URL in the browser, it loads up just fine and displays the username (from LOGIN_USER) no problem. When you click on a link within the web app, it loads the page just fine and authenticates without any problems. When you "hard refresh" (Ctrl-F5) it also works just fine. However, when you click "open in a new window" or "open in a new tab", the LOGON_USER variable is blank Any ideas? Am I missing some IIS7 setting somewhere? Tested clients are Windows 7 with IE8 or Windows XP with IE6.

How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now. How can I customise Zend_Form regex error messages?

I have the following code: $postcode = $form-createElement('text', 'postcode'); $postcode-setLabel('Post code:'); $postcode-addValidator('regex', false, array('/^[a-z]{1,3}[0-9]{1,3} ?[0-9]{1,3}[a-z]{1,3}$/i')); $postcode-addFilters(array('StringToUpper')); $postcode-setRequired(true); It creates an input field in a form and sets a regex validation rule and works just fine. The problem is that the error message it displays when a user enters an invalid postcode is this: 'POSTCODE' does not match against pattern '/^[a-z]{1,3}[0-9]{1,3} ?[0-9]{1,3}[a-z]{1,3}$/i' (where input was POSTCODE) How can I change this message to be a little more friendly?

Web Site in solution where "Rebuild Solution" compile succeeds cannot launch debugger

I have a solution that includes a Web Site (created using the web site template not the web app project template - converting isn't an option, btw). When I rebuild all, the compile succeeds, but strangely displays 3 errors, all of which are "Could not get dependencies for project reference 'PROJNAME'". When I try to launch the debugger, I get the "There were build errors." dialogue. Two questions: If I choose the 'Yes' option in the debug error dialogue to run the last successful build, will it run on the code that my Rebuild All just compiled? How do I resolve this issue? I checked this post and am disheartened by my prospects. What is strange, though, is that I added these same projects to a separate web site solution that compiled/debugged fine, removed the test web site and re-added the target website I would like to debug, and it failed in the same manner.
