  • DynamicObject and WCF support

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a DynamicObject to serialize and work with WCF? Here’s my little test: [DataContract] class MyDynamicObject : DynamicObject { [DataMember] private Dictionary<string, object> _attributes = new Dictionary<string, object>(); public override bool TryGetMember(GetMemberBinder binder, out object result) { string key = binder.Name; result = null; if (_attributes.ContainsKey(key)) result = _attributes[key]; return true; } public override bool TrySetMember(SetMemberBinder binder, object value) { _attributes.Add(binder.Name, value); return true; } } var dy = new MyDynamicObject(); var ser = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(MyDynamicObject)); var mem = new MemoryStream(); ser.WriteObject(mem, dy); The error I get is: System.Runtime.Serialization.InvalidDataContractException was unhandled Message=Type 'ElasticTest1.MyDynamicObject' cannot inherit from a type that is not marked with DataContractAttribute or SerializableAttribute. Consider marking the base type 'System.Dynamic.DynamicObject' with DataContractAttribute or SerializableAttribute, or removing them from the derived type. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rick

  • Support for nested model and class validation with ASP.NET MVC 2.0

    I'm trying to validate a model containing other objects with validation rules using the System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations attributes was hoping the default MVC implementation would suffice: var obj = js.Deserialize(json, objectInfo.ObjectType); if(!TryValidateModel(obj)) { // Handle failed model validation. } The object is composed of primitive types but also contains other classes which also use DataAnnotications. Like so: public class Entry { [Required] public Person Subscriber { get; set; } [Required] public String Company { get; set; } } public class Person { public String FirstName { get; set;} [Required] public String Surname { get; set; } } The problem is that the ASP.NET MVC validation only goes down 1 level and only evaluates the properties of the top level class, as can be read on digitallycreated.net/Blog/54/deep-inside-asp.net-mvc-2-model-metadata-and-validation. Does anyone know an elegant solution to this? I've tried xVal, but they seem to use a non-recursive pattern (http://blog.stevensanderson.com/2009/01/10/xval-a-validation-framework-for-aspnet-mvc/). Someone must have run into this problem before right? Nesting objects in your model doesn't seem so weird if you're designing a web service.

  • How to use SQL file streaming win32 API and support WCF streaming

    I'm using Sql server file stream type to store large files in the backend. I'm trying to use WCf to stream the file across to the clients. I'm able to get the handle to the file using SQLFileStream (API). I then try to return this stream. I have implemenetd data chunking on the client side to retrive the data from the stream. I'm able to do it for regular filestream and memory stream. Also if i convert then sqlfilestream in to memorystream that also works. The only think that doesn't work is when I try to return sqlfilestream. What am I doing wrong. I have tried both nettcpbinding with streaming enabled and http binding with MTOM encoding. This is the error message am getting : Socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your mesage or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network issue.. Local socket timneout was 00:09:59.... But I require Java 1.6 for a software application to be deployed and I cannot currently upgrade to Websphere 7.0, or use a different application server (WAS 6.1 is the org standard). what are my options?     LinqPad supports WCF Data Services. If you assign an URL, such as http://services.odata.org/Northwind/Northwind.svc/. It will list all available data objects and you can query them. I guess LinqPad generates all available data classes at run time by reflection.Emit. I am wondering who can show me to how to do so. Or maybe someone has done it before. Any feedback are appreciated.   • Need Java Swing HTML canvas with support for integrated swing controls

    I would like to create an application in swing in the style of web 2.0 but have the power and functionality of a thick client. I know substance and some other look and feels help with this some, but I was wondering if there is a way I can actually use some kind of html panel / canvas to create the content in html, embedding swing controls in the rendering so as to still use listeners and get the functionality. Anybody know of a way to do this?

  • Blackberry support for Forms Authentication - ASP.NET MVC app

    I'm writing an ASP.NET MVC application that uses Forms Authentication. The target clients are a variety of mobile web browsers. When I use the BlackBerry 8530 simulator my MVC app authenticates as expected. I can visit pages whose controller methods are decorated with the [Authorize] attribute - no problem - they display and therefore I assume my Forms Authentication is working correctly. Using a physical Windows Mobile device to browse my site, I have the same experience as the BB simulator, the forms authentication works as I would expect. BUT when I try to visit the site using a Blackberry 8900 physical device the Login page keeps on looping back when I click the Login page. The device is not retaining it's "authenticated" status. I added code to verify this and I can see that: Request.IsAuthenticated: False User.Identity.IsAuthenticated: False So my question is what next steps can I take to try and find out why the Blackberry 8900 is losing it's authentication status. Is this cookie related? Anyone have any ideas? Cheers Derek

  • Google Contacts and Mac OS X Address Book

    The sync that Google offers for Google Contacts < Mac OS X Address Book is seriously flawed. It doesn't sync automatically, it doesn't sync all contacts, it doesn't sync all fields. See here for a list of warnings and issues. Is there a better way to sync Google Contacts to Mac Address Book bidirectionally? Preferably free, and preferably without adding extra software. I have tried to do it through Plaxo (which has an excellent Mac Address Book sync, albeit through an extra software install), but Plaxo doesn't handle Google Sync well (no updates). UPDATE: For the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard this shouldn't be an issue. This question is looking for a Leopard answer.

Does anyone know of additional macro/preprocessor abilities added by Clang or side projects to make the macro system more powerful (like turing complete) Thakns! Note: I am asking about macros.   • Is InstallShield 2010 really necessary to support Windows 7 (against using InstallShield 12)

    I have received an e-mail from Flexera containing the following statement: "We understand that many of our customers still using InstallShield 12 maybe having difficulties sending installations to Windows 7 desktops, 64 Bit servers or R2 2008. Therefore we would like to provide this opportunity for you to erase these potential / current problems and upgrade despite InstallShield 12 being End of Life’d some time ago." We have not had any problems ourselves. I am interested to hear if anyone else has had any issues or whether this is a scare to get us to upgrade unnecessarily. I did examine in some detail the differences at the original end-of-life notice but could not see any issues that affected our installations. Interestingly they call this an 'amnesty' - almost implying we are criminals for not upgrading (cf OED).

  • Does Sandcastle support Entity Framework Partial Classes?

    I am attempting to use Sandcastle (and Sandcastle Help File Builder) to do some "auto-documentation" of some classes I am using. The classes that are giving me trouble are some partial classes on Entity Framework items that add methods and properties to those Framework items. The triple slash comments don't appear to come through on the methods and properties created in the partial classes. I have out how to get xml documentation of the base properties using the short summary and long description fields on the .emdx editor, but that doesn't provide a solution for the items in the partial classes. Is this possible? Is it perhaps just settings that I'm not setting correctly to pick up the partial classes? Does Sandcastle do partial classes in non-Entity Framework settings? Is what I'm doing even possible (has anyone else successfully used the xml created from triple slash comments to create documentation on entity framework partial classes, and if so how did you do that)? Any assistance is appreciated

  • Objective C++ support in autotools

    I'm working under Mac OS X 10.6.5 autoconf version 2.68 automake version 1.11.1 In a large project that is built using autoconf, automake, I need to add .mm files to the library sources. When I add them to the library_SOURCES variable they won't compile even after I use AS_IF([test "$with_target" = "quartz"], [AC_PROG_OBJCXX]) in my configure.ac. The test is passed successfully and it event outputs checking whether we are using the GNU Objective C++ compiler... yes and .mm files don't compile. Where can I look to solve this problem?
