  • Oracle XE + ODP.NET ANNOYING VIEW ERROR

    - by Alex
Sup guys, heres my view: CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW SISTEMA.VWTELA AS SELECT TEL_DLTELA AS Tela, TEL_DLDESCRICAO As Descricao, TEL_DLTABELA As Tabela, CASE WHEN to_char(TEL_STATIVO) = to_char(1) THEN to_char('Yes') ELSE to_char('No') END as Ativo, TEL_IDTELA AS IDTEL FROM SISTEMA.TEL_TELA; When i do a SELECT * FROM SISTEMA.VWTELA it works fine from PL/SQL Developer but when i launch the query from my VB.NET application it throws me a super annoying error ORA-01722. Any ideas? The Application code works perfecty with any query so its not application code error but prolly some "super cool feature" from ODP.NET. Already tried to_number, to_whatever and same error always happens.

  • How can I get an IObservable<T> in Rx from a "non-standard" event?

    - by Dan Tao
Here's what I mean. Suppose I'm working with an API that exposes events, but these events do not follow the standard EventHandler or EventHandler<TEventArgs> signature. One event might look like this, for instance: Public Event Update(ByVal sender As BaseSubscription, ByVal e As BaseEvent) Now, typically, if I want to get an IObservable<TEventArgs> from an event, I can just do this: Dim updates = Observable.FromEvent(Of UpdateEventArgs)( _ target:=updateSource, _ eventName:="Update" _ ) But this doesn't work, because the Update event is not an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs> -- in fact, there is no UpdateEventArgs -- it's basically just its own thing. Obviously, I could define my own class deriving from EventArgs (i.e., UpdateEventArgs), write another class to wrap the object providing the Update event, give the wrapper class its own Update event that is an EventHandler<UpdateEventArgs>, and get an IObservable<UpdateEventArgs> from that. But that's an annoying amount of work. Is there some way to create an IObservable<[something]> from a "non-standard" event like this, or am I out of luck?

  • ASP.Net Architecture Specific to Shared/Static functions

    - by Maxim Gershkovich
Hello All, Could someone please advise in the context of a ASP.Net application is a shared/static function common to all users? If for example you have a function Public shared function GetStockByID(StockID as Guid) as Stock Is that function common to all current users of your application? Or is the shared function only specific to the current user and shared in the context of ONLY that current user? So more specifically my question is this, besides database concurrency issues such as table locking do I need to concern myself with threading issues in shared functions in an ASP.Net application? In my head; let’s say my application namespace is MyTestApplicationNamespace. Everytime a new user connects to my site a new instance of the MyTestApplicationNamespace is created and therefore all shared functions are common to that instance and user but NOT common across multiple users. Is this correct?

  • Using Function return in global variable vb.net

    - by Cold Assassin
Can't seem to figure out how to use a function return variable in global Dims example code: Public Class Main Dim Path As String = FixPath() Dim fixwrongtxt As String = Path & "tryme.txt" Private Sub Main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load FixPath() On_load() End Sub Private Function FixPath() As String Path = "C:\test" MsgBox(Path) //First Message Box' Return Path End Function Sub On_load() MsgBox(fixwrongtxt) //Second Message Box End Sub End Class when I run it all I get the first message box that contains "C:\test" and I click ok and on the second messagebox I get "custom.dll" with out the "C:\test" or "Path Return" What am I doing wrong? I know I can't use // in vb.net. I have also tried adding "FixPath()" under Sub On_load() but got same result. Also the reason I have to have these global is because I have around 30 Subs that refer to "Path" Variable... Thanks

  • .NET Deployment of Interface/Classes for Command Pattern Question

    - by Jonno
In theory I would like to produce 2 projects: 1) Asp.net (Sever A) 2) DAL running (Server B) I would like to utilise command objects to comunicate with the DAL. ASP.net instantiates a command class e.g. CmdGetAllUsers which impliments IMyCommand interface and sends it to the DAL (using ASMX or WCF). My question is: Would the class definition of CmdGetAllUsers need to exist on the DAL server? Or would having the interface definition be enough? My goal is to reduce the need to redeploy the DAL code, and have it as a fairly simple pass-through layer. Many thanks for your time.

  • Need help helping in converting jquery, ajax, json and asp.net

    - by Haja Mohaideen
I am tying out this tutorial, http://www.ezzylearning.com/tutorial.aspx?tid=5869127. It works perfectly. What I am now trying to do is to host the aspx contents as html file. This html file is hosted on my wampserver which is on my laptop. The asp.net code hosted on my test server. When I try to access, I get the following error, Resource interpreted as Script but transferred with MIME type text/html: "http://201.x.x.x/testAjax/Default.aspx/AddProductToCart?callback=jQuery17103264484549872577_1346923699990&{%20pID:%20%226765%22,%20qty:%20%22100%22,%20lblType:%20%2220%22%20}&_=1346923704482". jquery.min.js:4 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < I am not sure how to solve this problem. index.html code $(function () { $('#btnAddToCart').click(function () { var result = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://202.161.45.124/testAjax/Default.aspx/AddProductToCart", crossDomain: true, data: '{ pID: "6765", qty: "100", lblType: "20" }', contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "jsonp", success: succeeded, failure: function (msg) { alert(msg); }, error: function (xhr, err) { alert(err); } }); }); }); function succeeded(msg) { alert(msg.d); } function btnAddToCart_onclick() { } </script> </head> <body> <form name="form1" method="post"> <div> <input type="button" id="btnAddToCart" onclick="return btnAddToCart_onclick()" value="Button" /> </div> </form> aspx.vb Imports System.Web.Services Imports System.Web.Script.Services <ScriptService()> Public Class WebForm1 Inherits Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Session("test") = "" End Sub <WebMethod()> <ScriptMethod(UseHttpGet:=False, ResponseFormat:=ResponseFormat.Json)> Public Shared Function AddProductToCart(pID As String, qty As String, lblType As String) As String Dim selectedProduct As String = String.Format("+ {0} - {1} - {2}", pID, qty, lblType) HttpContext.Current.Session("test") += selectedProduct Return HttpContext.Current.Session("test").ToString() End Function End Class

  • Exposing some live data on a website - New to ASP.NET, need guidelines

    - by Carlos
I have a large .NET based system running within the company intranet, which allows winforms users to see some live calculated numbers and a custom winforms control drawn live (but not real-time). The Forms users can also affect the operation of the system. I would like to just show the live numbers on a website, along with the custom control. Nothing needs to come back from the web user, as the web app is meant to be just for monitoring. All the numbers can be calculated at the server. It's been a long time since I touched ASP.NET, and I need to know how to proceed. What are the steps in building and deploying such a website? Any caveats I need to look out for?

  • .NET make a copy of an embedded file resource to the local drive

    - by Matt H.
Hi, i'm new to the realm to working with Files in .NET I'm creating a WPF application in VB.NET with the 3.5 Framework. (If you provide an example in C#, that's perfectly fine.) In my project I have a Template for an MS Access database. My desired behavior is that when the users clicks File--New, they can create a new copy of this template, give it a filename, and save it to their local directory. The database already has the tables and some starting data needed to interface with my application (a user-friendly data editor) I'm thinking the approach is to include this "template.accdb" file as a resource in the project, and write it to a file somehow at runtime? Any guidance will be very, very appreciated. Thanks!

  • in .net, what programming model would be good for prototyping, but then reusable for production (for

    - by Greg
Hi, In .NET land what would be a good approach for quick prototyping of a concept (i.e. development just on my PC) that could then be extended out to product (users across LAN/WAN), BUT in a fashion that the model/business logic code and data access layer code can be used as is? One thought for example I had as to do: (a) WinForms with business logic and Entity Framework layer to SQL Server Express on my PC, then (b) Go then to ASP.net (using the business logic / data library) with SQL Server/IIS Any comments? Other suggestions?

  • .NET application with an Oracle Database

    - by Pavitar
I have to code a desktop application and some dynamic web content. I'm planning to develop it in .NET with an Oracle database, though my dilemma is that my professor says that if I do so, there would be a lot of support issues later on. He says .NET is more compatible with MS SQL and MS Access, and so is the trend, everyone does it.Is it true? I have learnt Oracle so I know of a few features which I wouldn't be able to implement on SQL comfortably because of lack of knowledge of SQL databases.I would love to learn the new syntax but again, I don't have much time to spare.

  • asp.net mvc 2 multithread

    - by Chris Cap
I'm getting some weird behavior in asp.net MVC2 (at least it's not what I'm expecting). I have a controller httppost action that processes credit cards. I'm setting a session variable on the server to let me know if a user has attempted to process a card. I clear that session variable when I'm done. I am doing some very quick posts to test the process and the session variable is coming back null everytime because I clear the session variable at the end of the process. I have some debug prints that show me that the all requests are processed synchronously. That is...the first attempt occurs, it fails, session variable is cleared, second attempt tries and fails and the variable is cleared, etc... My first thought was that this was a side effect of debugging and that it just lined requests up for debugging purposes using the local webserver. So I put it on a development server and the same thing is occurring. Multiple submits/posts are processed synchronously. I even put a System.Threading.Sleep in there to make sure it would stop right after I set the session variable and it still won't even START the second request until the first is done. Has anyone else seen this behavior? My understanding was that a worker process was spawned for each request and that these actions could happen asychronously. Here's some psuedo code if (Session["CardCharged"] != null) return RedirectToAction("Index", "Problem"); Session["CardCharged"] = false; //starting the process System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000); //charge card here if (!providerResponse.IsApproved) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("failed"); Session["CardCharged"] = null; //have to allow them to charge again since this failed return View(myModel); } Session["CardCharged"] = true; return RedirectToAction("Index", "OrderComplete"); I should mention that my code ALWAYS fails the credit card check for testing purposes. I'm trying to test the situation where processing is STILL occurring and redirect the user elsewhere. I have set a dummy session variable elsewhere to assure that the session id "sticks". So I know the session id is the same for each request. Thanks

  • Problem using GDI+ with multiple threads (VB.NET)

    - by Joe B
I think it would be best if I just copy and pasted the code (it's very trivial). Private Sub Main() Handles MyBase.Shown timer.Interval = 10 timer.Enabled = True End Sub Private Sub Form1_Paint(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs) Handles MyBase.Paint e.Graphics.DrawImage(image, 0, 0) End Sub Private Sub tick() Handles timer.Elapsed Using g = Graphics.FromImage(image) g.Clear(Color.Transparent) g.DrawLine(Pens.Red, 0 + i, 0 + i, Me.Width - i, Me.Height - i) End Using Me.Invalidate() End Sub An exception, "The object is currently in use elsewhere", is raised during the tick event. Could someone tell me why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks.

  • Programação paralela no .NET Framework 4 – Parte II

    - by anobre
Range(1, 10000); var evenNums = from num in source. Range(1, 1000); IEnumerable<int> results = from n in numbers.AsParallel() where IsDivisibleByFive(n) select n; Stopwatch sw = Stopwatch.StartNew(); IList<int> resultsList = results.ToList(); Console.WriteLine("{0} itens", resultsList.Count()); sw.Stop(); Console.WriteLine("Tempo de execução: {0} ms", sw.ElapsedMilliseconds); Console.WriteLine("Fim..."); Console.ReadKey(true); } static bool IsDivisibleByFive(int i) { Thread.

  • Error converting JSON to .Net object in asp.net

    - by Vinni
Hello Guys, I am unable to convert JSON string to .net object in asp.net. I am sending JSON string from client to server using hidden field (by keeping the JSON object.Tostring() in hidden field and reading the hidden field value in code behind file) Json string/ Object: [[{"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"11","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"11","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"11","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"2","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"2","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"67","HostingTypeID":"3"}, {"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"67","HostingTypeID":"3"}], [{"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"99","HostingTypeID":"6"}], [{"OfferId":"1","OrderValue":"10","HostingTypeID":"8"}]] .Net Object public class JsonFeaturedOffer { public string OfferId { get; set; } public string OrderValue { get; set; } public string HostingTypeID { get; set; } } Converstion code in code behind file byte[] byteArray = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(HdnJsonData.Value); MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(byteArray); DataContractJsonSerializer serializer = new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(JsonFeaturedOffer)); object result= serializer.ReadObject(stream); JsonFeaturedOffer jsonObj = result as JsonFeaturedOffer; While converting i am getting following error: Expecting element 'root' from namespace ''.. Encountered 'None' with name '', namespace ''.

  • MS Dynamics CRM trapping .NET error before I can handle it

    - by clifgriffin
This is a fun one. I have written a custom search page that provides faster, more user friendly searches than the default Contacts view and also allows searching of Leads and Contacts simultaneously. It uses GridViews bound to SqlDataSources that query filtered views. I'm sure someone will complain that I'm not using the web services for this, but this is just the design decision we made. These GridViews live in UpdatePanels to enable very slick AJAX updates upon search. It's all working great. Nearly ready to be deployed, except for one thing: Some long running searches are triggering an uncatchable SQL timeout exception. [SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.] at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.ConsumeMetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.get_MetaData() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.FinishExecuteReader(SqlDataReader ds, RunBehavior runBehavior, String resetOptionsString) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReaderTds(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method, DbAsyncResult result) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteReader(CommandBehavior cmdBehavior, RunBehavior runBehavior, Boolean returnStream, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior, String method) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteDbDataReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbCommand.System.Data.IDbCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillInternal(DataSet dataset, DataTable[] datatables, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataSet dataSet, String srcTable) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSourceView.ExecuteSelect(DataSourceSelectArguments arguments) at System.Web.UI.DataSourceView.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments arguments, DataSourceViewSelectCallback callback) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataBoundControl.PerformSelect() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataBoundControl.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridView.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataBoundControl.EnsureDataBound() at System.Web.UI.WebControls.CompositeDataBoundControl.CreateChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureChildControls() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Control.PreRenderRecursiveInternal() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) I found that CRM is doing a server.transfer to capture this error because my UpdatePanels started throwing JavaSript errors when this error would occur. I was only able to get the full error message by using the JavaScript debugger in IE. Having found this error, I thought the solution would be simple. I just needed to wrap my databind calls in try/catch blocks to capture any errors. Unfortunately it seems CRM's IIS configuration has the magic ability to capture this error before it ever gets back to my code. Using the debugger I never see it. It never gets to my catch blocks, but it's clearly happening in the SQL Data Source which is clearly (by the stack trace) being triggered by my GridView bind. Any ideas on this? It's driving me crazy. Code Behind (with some irrelevant functions omitted): protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Initialize some stuff this.bannerOracle = new OdbcConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["OracleConnectionString"].ConnectionString); //Prospect default HideProspects(); HideProspectAddressColumn(); //Contacts default HideContactAddressColumn(); //Default error messages gvContacts.EmptyDataText = "Sad day. • Convert asp.net webforms logic to asp.net MVC

    - by gmcalab
    I had this code in an old asp.net webforms app to take a MemoryStream and pass it as the Response showing a PDF as the response. I am now working with an asp.net MVC application and looking to do this this same thing, but how should I go about showing the MemoryStream as PDF using MVC? Here's my asp.net webforms code: private void ShowPDF(MemoryStream ms) { try { //get byte array of pdf in memory byte[] fileArray = ms.ToArray(); //send file to the user Page.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Page.Response.Buffer = true; Response.Clear(); Response.ClearContent(); Response.ClearHeaders(); Response.Charset = string.Empty; Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; Response.AddHeader("content-length", fileArray.Length.ToString()); Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=TID.pdf;"); Response.BinaryWrite(fileArray); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); } catch { // and boom goes the dynamite... } }

  • Adding a hyperlink in a client report definition file (RDLC)

    - by rajbk
This post shows you how to add a hyperlink to your RDLC report. In a previous post, I showed you how to create an RDLC report. We have been given the requirement to the report we created earlier, the Northwind Product report, to add a column that will contain hyperlinks which are unique per row.  The URLs will be RESTful with the ProductID at the end. Clicking on the URL will take them to a website like so: http://localhost/products/3  where 3 is the primary key of the product row clicked on. To start off, open the RDLC and add a new column to the product table.   Add text to the header (Details) and row (Product Website). Right click on the row (not header) and select “TextBox properties” Select Action – Go to URL. You could hard code a URL here but what we need is a URL that changes based on the ProductID.   Click on the expression button (fx) The expression builder gives you access to several functions and constants including the fields in your dataset. See this reference for more details: Common Expressions for ReportViewer Reports. Add the following expression: = "http://localhost/products/" & Fields!ProductID.Value Click OK to exit the Expression Builder. The report will not render because hyperlinks are disabled by default in the ReportViewer control. To enable it, add the following in your page load event (where rvProducts is the ID of your ReportViewerControl): protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { rvProducts.LocalReport.EnableHyperlinks = true; } } We want our links to open in a new window so set the HyperLinkTarget property of the ReportViewer control to “_blank”   We are done adding hyperlinks to our report. Clicking on the links for each product pops open a new windows. The URL has the ProductID added at the end. Enjoy!

  • Tulsa SharePoint Interest Group – SharePoint 2010 Mini-Launch Event - Review

    - by dmccollough
The Tulsa SharePoint Interest Group set a record for attendance last night at our SharePoint 2010 Mini-Launch Event. Approximately 40+ people showed up to listen to SharePoint MVP Eric Shupps, The SharePoint Cowboy to discuss all of the new features for both administrators and developers. All of the Tulsa SharePoint Interest Group Officers worked very hard to ensure that this event happened. We hosted our event at our local Dave & Busters and it was a great location with good food and great service. All of the officers of the Tulsa SharePoint Interest Group would like to extend a big Thank You to all of our sponsor that helped us in making our SharePoint 2010 Mini-Launch Event a reality.
