  • MySQL: 4 Table "has-many-through" Join?

    Let's say I have the following 4 tables (for examples' sake): Owners, Trucks, Boxes, Apples. An owner can have many trucks, a truck can have many boxes and a box can have many apples. Owners have an id. Trucks have an id and owner_id. Boxes have an id and truck_id. Apples have an id and box_id. Let's say I want to get all the apples "owned" by an owner with id = 34. So I want to get all the boxes that are in boxes that are in trucks that owner 34 owns. There is a "hierarchy" if you will of 4 tables that each only has reference to its direct "parent". How can I quickly filter boxes while satisfying conditions across the other 3 tables? I hope that made sense somewhat. Thanks.

  • Fitting Text into an Image

    Hello all, I have a function which takes in a font (ttf or otf file) and generates an image of text in different fonts. The problem I have is trying to work out how I can make the text fit in the image regardless of the font-size, type of font, and amount of text. I have tried to make the image rectangle variable so that it contains the text of different fonts without cutting a bit of the text since the image is not long or wide enough.     Hi, I know ZF well, and a little bit of Magento, but I'm new to E-commerce, and I'm sure there are best practice to follow when designing a cart model. How would go to design a cart?   • Cleaner way of using modulus for columns

    I currently have a list (<ul>) of people that I have divided up into two columns.   • Resize an image and maintain quality?

    Hi, I have a problem with resizing images. What happens is that if you upload a file larger than the stated parameters, the image is cropped, then saved at 100% quality. So if I upload a large jpeg which is 272Kb. The image is cropped by 100 odd pixels. The file size then goes up to 1.2Mb. We are saving images at a 100% quality. I assume that this is what is causing the problem. The image is exported from Photoshop at 30% quality which reduces the file size. Resaving the image at 100% quality creates the same image but I assume with a lot of redundant file data. Has anyone encountered this before? Does anyone have a solution?   • Use Zip to Pre-Populate City/State Form with jQuery AJAX

    I'm running into a problem that I can solve fine by just submitting a form and calling a db to retrieve/echo the information, but AJAX seems to be a bit different for doing this (and is what I need). Earlier in a form process I ask for the zip code like so: <input type="text" maxlength="5" size="5" id="zip" /> Then I have a button to continue, but this button just runs a javascript function that shows the rest of the form. When the rest of the form shows, I want to pre-populate the City input with their city, and pre-populate the State dropdown with their state. I figured I would have to find a way to set city/state to variables, and echo the variables into the form. But I can't figure out how to get/set those variables with AJAX as opposed to a form submit. Here's how I did it without ajax: $zip = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['zip']); $q = " SELECT city FROM citystatezip WHERE zip = $zip"; $r = mysql_query($q); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($r); $city = $row['city']; Can anybody help me out with using AJAX to set these variables? Looks like everything should be hooked with the wordpess to get it run and moreover are there all the global variables that i need to use. I am making a video plugin and designed some of the forms and display page, but didn't went through the templates, is it compulsory to follow the template structure or we can design our on layout.   • Proper error handling in a custom Zend_Autoloader?

    I'm building a custom autoloader based on Zend Framework's autoloading (related question here). The basic approach, taken from that question, is class My_Autoloader implements Zend_Loader_Autoloader_Interface { public function autoload($class) { // add your logic to find the required classes in here } } and then binding the new autoloader class to a class prefix. Now what I'm unsure about is how to handle errors inside the autoload method (for example, "class file not found") in a proper, ZF compliant way. I'm new to the framework, its conventions and style. Do I quietly return false and let the class creation process crash? Do I output an error or log message somehow (which would be nice to pinpoint the problem) and return false? If so, what is the Zend way of doing that? Do I trigger an error? Do I throw an exception? If so, what kind?

Besides the foreach loop, I don't know of any other way to iterate through the array. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks!

I would like to: use google's compiler.jar to minify my JS use yahoo's yui-compressor.jar to minify my CSS access a file and change a string so that header files like "global.css?v=21" get served the correct version deploy the app (sftp, mercurial or rsync?) omitting certain directories like "/userfiles" Can you guys put me on the right track to solve this?
