  • Code Igniter Update Engine

    - by tarnfeld
Hey, I am planning to develop a pretty awesome new web app that has a one time fee including free updates of 1.X updates (X being the update). I don't want to get people to download a new version and install it manually as it can be a real pain for some people, also it's bad if there is an important bug that needs fixing and people don't update. The app will be built with Code Igniter so I was looking for some kind of integrated system that allowed me to send out updates for the web app? All suggestions are very much appreciated!

  • Is it possible to use jquery to add numbers taken from mysql?

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys quick question. I have a div that gets assigned a number to its id that is taken from the database on page load. I am trying to use jquery to add 1 to that number but for example if the number was 70 to begin with it just becomes 701. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? echo "<div class=\"total\" id=\"$total\">$total</div>"; var total=$(".total").attr("id"); var newtotal=total+1; $('.total').html(newtotal);

  • Why must I rewind IteratorIterator

    - by chris
$arrayIter = new ArrayIterator( array(1, 2) ); $iterIter = new IteratorIterator($arrayIter); var_dump($iterIter->valid()); //false var_dump($arrayIter->valid()); //true If I first call $iterIter-rewind(), then $iterIter-valid() is true. I'm curious why it requires that rewind() be called. I imagine there's good reason for it, but I would have expected it to simply start iteration at whatever state it's inner iterator is in, and leave it as an option to rewind before beginning iteration. calling next() also seems to put it in a "valid" state(although it advances to the next position, suggesting it was previously at the first position). $arrayIter = new ArrayIterator(array(1,2)); $iterIter = new IteratorIterator($arrayIter); $iterIter->next(); var_dump($iterIter->valid()); Again, I'm curious why I need to call rewind(), despite the inner iterator being in a valid state.

  • Validate a date range within MySQL query

    - by fishcracker
(This question may seem easy or kind of noobish, by that I pardon my ignorance.) I used PDO query to use SELECT then fetch some values, it comes to a point that I need to fetch only some entries that within its start date and end date. My database +----------+-----------------+----------------------+--------------------+ | id (INT) | title (VARCHAR) | start_date (VARCHAR) | end_date (VARCHAR) | +----------+-----------------+----------------------+--------------------+ | 1 | buddy | 2012-11-26 | 2012-11-30 | | 2 | metro | 2012-12-05 | 2012-12-20 | | 3 | justin | 2012-11-28 | 2012-12-01 | +----------+-----------------+----------------------+--------------------+ My query is as follows: $query = "SELECT title, start_date, end_date FROM debts WHERE start_date >= CURDATE() AND end_date >= CURDATE()"; What I want to achieve is whenever the start_date is today or greater but not exceeding the end_date it will be valid. This will return the row for id 1, however if I change the start_date to 2012-11-25, it will fail due to the first condition on AND. I'm really confuse on this since I am new to this, is there any built-in function to handle this kind of situation?

  • How to hide div serverside by reading cookie

    - by user338109
I am using following a tutorial from here: http://www.shopdev.co.uk/blog/cookies-with-jquery-designing-collapsible-layouts/ This is the script I use: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(function() { // SETUP: // When the info banner is clicked: $('#setup').click(function() { $('#intro').css("display","none"); $.cookie('intro', 'collapsed'); }); // COOKIES // Info banner state var intro = $.cookie('intro'); // READ THE COOKIES if (intro == 'collapsed') { $('#intro').css("display","none"); }; }); </script> The script hides the following div as the cookie is read: <div class="feedback attention" id="intro"> Text goes here <a id="setup" href="#">Ok I get it, please hide this</a> </div> Everything work great but when the page loads the div is shown for a split second. I guess the solution is to present two different pieces of markup serverside according to the cookie info. I have no idea how to go about this.

  • Codeigniter Form Validation - how to unset form values after success?

    - by BrynJ
I realise this request goes against the example provided in the CI documentation (which advises a separate 'success' page view), but I would like to reutilise a given form view after a form has been successfully submitted - displaying a success message then displaying a blank form. I've tried a few ways unsuccessfully to clear the validation set values (unsetting $_POST, setting rules / fields to an empty array and rerunning validatio). I could redirect to the same page, but then I'd have to set a session variable to display a success message - which is a messy approach. Any ideas how to achieve the above?

  • preg_match basics question.

    - by Yo-L
Hi all. Got some trouble with my preg_match. The code. $text = 'tel: 012 213 123. mobil: 0303 11234'; $regex_string = '/(tel|Tel|TEL)[\s|:]+(.+)[\.|\n]/'; preg_match($regex_string , $text, $match); And I get this result in $match[2] "012 213 123. mobil: 023 123 123" First question. I want the regex to stop at the .(dot) but it doesent. Can someone explain to why it isnt? Second question. preg_match uses () to get their match. Is it possible to skip the parentheses surrounding the different "Tel" and still get the same functionality? Thnx all stackoverflow is great :D

  • Proper error handling in a custom Zend_Autoloader?

    - by Pekka
I'm building a custom autoloader based on Zend Framework's autoloading (related question here). The basic approach, taken from that question, is class My_Autoloader implements Zend_Loader_Autoloader_Interface { public function autoload($class) { // add your logic to find the required classes in here } } and then binding the new autoloader class to a class prefix. Now what I'm unsure about is how to handle errors inside the autoload method (for example, "class file not found") in a proper, ZF compliant way. I'm new to the framework, its conventions and style. Do I quietly return false and let the class creation process crash? Do I output an error or log message somehow (which would be nice to pinpoint the problem) and return false? If so, what is the Zend way of doing that? Do I trigger an error? Do I throw an exception? If so, what kind?

  • minifying final html output using regex with codeigniter

    - by Aman
Google pages suggest you to minify html i.e. remove all the un-necessary spaces. Codeigniter does have feature of giziping output or it can be done via .htaccess. But still I also would like to remove un-necessary spaces from final html output as well. I played a bit with this peace of code to do it, and it seem to work. This does indeed result in html that is without excess spaces and removes other tab formatting. class Welcome extends CI_Controller { function _output() { echo preg_replace('!\s+!', ' ', $output); } function index(){ ... } } Now the problem with this is there may be tag like <pre>,<textarea>, etc.. which may have space in it and regx should remove them. So, how do I remove excess space from final html, without effecting spaces or formatting for these certain tags using regx? Thanks to @Alan Moore got the answer, this worked for me echo preg_replace('#(?ix)(?>[^\S ]\s*|\s{2,})(?=(?:(?:[^<]++|<(?!/?(?:textarea|pre)\b))*+)(?:<(?>textarea|pre)\b|\z))#', ' ', $output); @ridgerunner here did very good job of analyzing this regx, ended up using his solution. Cheers to ridgerunner.

  • How to load mysql data on separate forms

    - by user225269
    I used this code to add the data in the mysql table. But I do not know how to separate them because they are only stored in one column: $birthday = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['yyyy'] . '-' . $_POST['mm'] . '-' . $_POST['dd']); How do I load them in here, so that the month, day, and year will be separated: <tr> <td><font size="2">Birthday</td> <td> <select title="- Select Month -" name="mm" id="mm" class="" > <option value="" >--Month--</option> <option value="1" >Jan</option> <option value="2" >Feb</option> <option value="3" >Mar</option> <option value="4" >Apr</option> <option value="5" >May</option> <option value="6" >Jun</option> <option value="7" >Jul</option> <option value="8" >Aug</option> <option value="9" >Sep</option> <option value="10" >Oct</option> <option value="11" >Nov</option> <option value="12" >Dec</option> </select> <input title="Day" type="text" onkeypress="return isNumberKey(event)" name="dd" value="" size="1" maxlength="2" id='numbers'/ > <input title="Year" type="text" onkeypress="return isNumberKey(event)" name="yyyy" value="" size="1" maxlength="4" id='numbers'/> </td> </tr> Please help.
