  • samplerCubeShadow and texture offset

    - by Irbis
    I use sampler2DShadow when accessing a single shadow map. I create PCF in this way: result += textureProjOffset(ShadowSampler, ShadowCoord, ivec2(-1,-1)); result += textureProjOffset(ShadowSampler, ShadowCoord, ivec2(-1,1)); result += textureProjOffset(ShadowSampler, ShadowCoord, ivec2(1,1)); result += textureProjOffset(ShadowSampler, ShadowCoord, ivec2(1,-1)); result = result * 0.25; For a cube map I use samplerCubeShadow: result = texture(ShadowCubeSampler, vec4(normalize(position), depth)); How to adopt above PCF when accessing a cube map ?

  • How to show other characters in online 2D rpg

    - by Loligans
I have Player 1 and Player 2 I am using Json to send and retrieve player data between the client and the server, but when another player logs in, and is in the same map, how would I send that data to both players to update the graphics engine to show there are 2 Players on the map? About my game it is a 2D RPG tile based game it is 24x15 Tiles it is Real time Action it should interact anywhere between 10-150 ping players interact with each other when in the same map and can see each other moving around the game world is persistent, and is saved when the server shuts down Right now the server just sends the player Only their information which is inside a Json Object Here is an example of what I am talking about If you notice there are 2 separate characters in 2 separate clients, but they are running on the same server. I am trying to get them to show up on both clients, but I don't know how I should accomplish this. Should I send it as an added value in the Json object? Also what is the name of this process so I can look it up and find more info on it?

  • How to modify VBO data

    - by Romeo
I am learning LWJGL so i can start working on my game. In order to learn LWJGL I got the idea to implement the map builder so I can get comfortable with graphics programming. Now, for the map creation tool I need to draw new elements or draw the old one's with different coordinates. Let me explain this: My game will be a 2D scroller. The map will be consisting of multiple rectangles ( 2 strip triangles). When I click my left-mouse button i want to start the rectangle and when I release it I want to stop the rectangle bottom-right at that position. As I want to use VBOs I want to know how to modify data inside the VBO based on user input. Should i have a copy of a vertex array and then add the whole array to the VBO at each user input? How is usually implemented the VBO update?

  • GLSL, all in one or many shader programs?

    - by stjepano
I am doing some 3D demos using OpenGL and I noticed that GLSL is somewhat "limited" (or is it just me?). Anyway I have many different types of materials. Some materials have ambient and diffuse color, some materials have ambient occlusion map, some have specular map and bump map etc. Is it better to support everything in one vertex/fragment shader pair or is it better to create many vertex/fragment shaders and select them based on currently selected material? What is the usual shader strategy in OpenGL or D3D?

  • Draw Bug 2D player Camera

    - by RedShft
    I have just implemented a 2D player camera for my game, everything works properly except the player on the screen jitters when it moves between tiles. What I mean by jitter, is that if the player is moving the camera updates the tileset to be drawn and if the player steps to the right, the camera snaps that way. The movement is not smooth. I'm guessing this is occurring because of how I implemented the function to calculate the current viewable area or how my draw function works. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this. This camera system was entirely of my own creation and a first attempt at that, so it's very possible this is not a great way of doing things. My camera class, pulls information from the current tileset and calculates the viewable area. Right now I am targettng a resolution of 800 by 600. So I try to fit the appropriate amount of tiles for that resolution. My camera class, after calculating the current viewable tileset relative to the players location, returns a slice of the original tileset to be drawn. This tileset slice is updated every frame according to the players position. This slice is then passed to the map class, which draws the tile on screen. //Map Draw Function //This draw function currently matches the GID of the tile to it's location on the //PNG file of the tileset and then draws this portion on the screen void Draw(SDL_Surface* background, int[] _tileSet) { enforce( tilesetImage != null, "Tileset is null!"); enforce( background != null, "BackGround is null!"); int i = 0; int j = 0; SDL_Rect DestR, SrcR; SrcR.x = 0; SrcR.y = 0; SrcR.h = 32; SrcR.w = 32; foreach(tile; _tileSet) { //This code is matching the current tiles ID to the tileset image SrcR.x = cast(short)(tileWidth * (tile >= 11 ? (tile - ((tile / 10) * 10) - 1) : tile - 1)); SrcR.y = cast(short)(tileHeight * (tile > 10 ? (tile / 10) : 0)); //Applying the tile to the surface SDL_BlitSurface( tilesetImage, &SrcR, background, &DestR ); //this keeps track of what column/row we are on i++; if ( i == mapWidth ) { i = 0; j++; } DestR.x = cast(short)(i * tileWidth); DestR.y = cast(short)(j * tileHeight); } } //Camera Class class Camera { private: //A rectangle representing the view area SDL_Rect viewArea; //In number of tiles int viewAreaWidth; int viewAreaHeight; //This is the x and y coordinate of the camera in MAP SPACE IN PIXELS vect2 cameraCoordinates; //The player location in map space IN PIXELS vect2 playerLocation; //This is the players location in screen space; vect2 playerScreenLoc; int playerTileCol; int playerTileRow; int cameraTileCol; int cameraTileRow; //The map is stored in a single array with the tile ids //this corresponds to the index of the starting and ending tile int cameraStartTile, cameraEndTile; //This is a slice of the current tile set int[] tileSetCopy; int mapWidth; int mapHeight; int tileWidth; int tileHeight; public: this() { this.viewAreaWidth = 25; this.viewAreaHeight = 19; this.cameraCoordinates = vect2(0, 0); this.playerLocation = vect2(0, 0); this.viewArea = SDL_Rect (0, 0, 0, 0); this.tileWidth = 32; this.tileHeight = 32; } void Init(vect2 playerPosition, ref int[] tileSet, int mapWidth, int mapHeight ) { playerLocation = playerPosition; this.mapWidth = mapWidth; this.mapHeight = mapHeight; CalculateCurrentCameraPosition( tileSet, playerPosition ); //writeln( "Tile Set Copy: ", tileSetCopy ); //writeln( "Orginal Tile Set: ", tileSet ); } void CalculateCurrentCameraPosition( ref int[] tileSet, vect2 playerPosition ) { playerLocation = playerPosition; playerTileCol = cast(int)((playerLocation.x / tileWidth) + 1); playerTileRow = cast(int)((playerLocation.y / tileHeight) + 1); //writeln( "Player Tile (Column, Row): ","(", playerTileCol, ", ", playerTileRow, ")"); cameraTileCol = playerTileCol - (viewAreaWidth / 2); cameraTileRow = playerTileRow - (viewAreaHeight / 2); CameraMapBoundsCheck(); //writeln( "Camera Tile Start (Column, Row): ","(", cameraTileCol, ", ", cameraTileRow, ")"); cameraStartTile = ( (cameraTileRow - 1) * mapWidth ) + cameraTileCol - 1; //writeln( "Camera Start Tile: ", cameraStartTile ); cameraEndTile = cameraStartTile + ( viewAreaWidth * viewAreaHeight ) * 2; //writeln( "Camera End Tile: ", cameraEndTile ); tileSetCopy = tileSet[cameraStartTile..cameraEndTile]; } vect2 CalculatePlayerScreenLocation() { cameraCoordinates.x = cast(float)(cameraTileCol * tileWidth); cameraCoordinates.y = cast(float)(cameraTileRow * tileHeight); playerScreenLoc = playerLocation - cameraCoordinates + vect2(32, 32);; //writeln( "Camera Coordinates: ", cameraCoordinates ); //writeln( "Player Location (Map Space): ", playerLocation ); //writeln( "Player Location (Screen Space): ", playerScreenLoc ); return playerScreenLoc; } void CameraMapBoundsCheck() { if( cameraTileCol < 1 ) cameraTileCol = 1; if( cameraTileRow < 1 ) cameraTileRow = 1; if( cameraTileCol + 24 > mapWidth ) cameraTileCol = mapWidth - 24; if( cameraTileRow + 19 > mapHeight ) cameraTileRow = mapHeight - 19; } ref int[] GetTileSet() { return tileSetCopy; } int GetViewWidth() { return viewAreaWidth; } }

  • When to use an Array vs When to use a Vector, when dealing with GameObjects?

    - by user32465
I understand that from other answers, Arrays and Vectors are the best choices. Many on SE claim that Linked Lists and Maps are bad for video game programming. I understand that for the most part, I can use Arrays. However, I don't really understand exactly when to use Vectors over Arrays. Why even use Vectors? Wouldn't it be best if I simply always used an Array, that way I know how much memory my game needs? Specifically my game would only ever load a single "Map" area of tiles, such as Map[100][100], so I could very easily have an array of GameObjectContainer GameObjects[100][100], which would reserve an entire map's worth of possible gameobjects, correct? So why use a Vector instead? Memory is quite large on modern hardware.

  • How can I perform a masked erase in SDL2?

    - by Kvisle
I'm trying to implement some shadow/lighting effects in my 2D-project, and I've concluded that if there is an easy way to perform a masked erase on an SDL_Texture, it would make the drawing operations quite cheap. Let's say I have a texture of the part of the level where light is not meant to be rendered. I also have a texture with my "light map"; I want to use this to just draw omni lights from my light sources. Then I want to use the first image to 'subtract' the portions of the light map that are not to be rendered on the final scene. Then I draw my "light map" texture on top of my scene, with additive blending enabled. This sounds like a good theory in my head, but I can't see any functions in the SDL2 API that let me do masked erase from a texture. Am I overlooking something? Does anything like this exist?

  • Removing/Adding a specific variable from an object inside javascript array? [migrated]

    - by hustlerinc
I have a map array with objects stuffed with variables looking like this: var map = [ [{ground:0, object:1}, {ground:0, item:2}, {ground:0, object:1, item:2}], [{ground:0, object:1}, {ground:0, item:2}, {ground:0, object:1, item:2}] ]; Now I would like to be able to delete and add one of the variables like item:2. 1) What would I use to delete specific variables? 2) What would I use to add specific variables? I just need 2 short lines of code, the rest like detecting if and where to execute I've figured out. I've tried delete map[i][j].item; with no results. Help appreciated.

  • Release roadmap with scrum

    - by SyBer
I need to prepare an internal product release road-map for product being built via scrum methodology, and have some difficulty correlating sprints to the road-map. The main problem is that as I don't have effort estimations for every story, because these prepared immediately before each sprint, so I don't know what will make into which sprint. I'm fine with changing the road-map as the development goes on, but need it to give at least some indication when things planned to be released. So what would be the best way to do this, other then guestimating the whole backlog? Thanks for any idea.

  • how should I change the representation (not mimetype) of a resource?

    - by xenoterracide
I'm looking at how I can change the representation of a payload at runtime for varied potential advantages, but I'm not sure how to do it. Specifically collections. Array of Pairs [{ <resource_uri> : { <entity> }, ...}] Array of Objects [<entity>,...] Array of Resources [<resource_uri>] Map of entities { <resource_uri> : { <entity> }, ... } My problem is, I'm not sure if I should put these different representations of the sets at different URI's, give them slightly varied mime types, e.g. application/foomap+json or perhaps use an optional query parameter ?format=map, or resource /entities/map. The UI is going to hide this, this is for programmatic web service access only (which the "UI's JS will have to call).

  • Creating dynamic breadcrumb in asp.net mvc with mvcsitemap provider

    - by Jalpesh P. Vadgama
I have done lots breadcrumb kind of things in normal asp.net web forms I was looking for same for asp.net mvc. After searching on internet I have found one great nuget package for mvpsite map provider which can be easily implemented via site map provider. So let’s check how its works. I have create a new MVC 3 web application called breadcrumb and now I am adding a reference of site map provider via nuget package like following. You can find more information about MVC sitemap provider on following URL. https://github.com/maartenba/MvcSiteMapProvid So once you add site map provider. You will find a Mvc.SiteMap file like following. And following is content of that file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <mvcSiteMap xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://mvcsitemap.codeplex.com/schemas/MvcSiteMap-File-3.0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://mvcsitemap.codeplex.com/schemas/MvcSiteMap-File-3.0 MvcSiteMapSchema.xsd" enableLocalization="true"> <mvcSiteMapNode title="Home" controller="Home" action="Index"> <mvcSiteMapNode title="About" controller="Home" action="About"/> </mvcSiteMapNode> </mvcSiteMap> So now we have added site map so now its time to make breadcrumb dynamic. So as we all know that with in the standard asp.net mvc template we have action link by default for Home and About like following. <div id="menucontainer"> <ul id="menu"> <li>@Html.ActionLink("Home", "Index", "Home")</li> <li>@Html.ActionLink("About", "About", "Home")</li> </ul> </div> Now I want to replace that with our sitemap provider and make it dynamic so I have added the following code. <div id="menucontainer"> @Html.MvcSiteMap().Menu(true) </div> That’s it. This is the magic code @Html.MvcSiteMap will dynamically create breadcrumb for you. Now let’s run this in browser. You can see that it has created breadcrumb dynamically without writing any action link code. So here you can see with MvcSiteMap provider we don’t have to write any code we just need to add menu syntax and rest it will do automatically. That’s it. Hope you liked it. Stay tuned for more till then happy programming.

  • BizTalk&ndash;Mapping repeating EDI segments using a Table Looping functoid

    - by Bill Osuch
BizTalk’s HIPAA X12 schemas have several repeating date/time segments in them, where the XML winds up looking something like this: <DTM_StatementDate> <DTM01_DateTimeQualifier>232</DTM01_DateTimeQualifier> <DTM02_ClaimDate>20120301</DTM02_ClaimDate> </DTM_StatementDate> <DTM_StatementDate> <DTM01_DateTimeQualifier>233</DTM01_DateTimeQualifier> <DTM02_ClaimDate>20120302</DTM02_ClaimDate> </DTM_StatementDate> The corresponding EDI segments would look like this: DTM*232*20120301~ DTM*233*20120302~ The DateTimeQualifier element indicates whether it’s the start date or end date – 232 for start, 233 for end. So in this example (an X12 835) we’re saying the statement starts on 3/1/2012 and ends on 3/2/2012. When you’re mapping from some other data format, many times your start and end dates will be within the same node, like this: <StatementDates> <Begin>20120301</Begin> <End>20120302</End> </StatementDates> So how do you map from that and create two repeating segments in your destination map? You could connect both the <Begin> and <End> nodes to a looping functoid, and connect its output to <DTM_StatementDate>, then connect both <Begin> and <End> to <DTM_StatementDate> … this would give you two repeating segments, each with the correct date, but how to add the correct qualifier? The answer is the Table Looping Functoid! To test this, let’s create a simplified schema that just contains the date fields we’re mapping. First, create your input schema: And your output schema: Now create a map that uses these two schemas, and drag a Table Looping functoid onto it. The first input parameter configures the scope (or how many times the records will loop), so drag a link from the StatementDates node over to the functoid. Yes, StatementDates only appears once, so this would make it seem like it would only loop once, but you’ll see in just a minute. The second parameter in the functoid is the number of columns in the output table. We want to fill two fields, so just set this to 2. Now drag the Begin and End nodes over to the functoid. Finally, we want to add the constant values for DateTimeQualifier, so add a value of 232 and another of 233. When all your inputs are configured, it should look like this: Now we’ll configure the output table. Click on the Table Looping Grid, and configure it to look like this: Microsoft’s description of this functoid says “The Table Looping functoid repeats with the looping record it is connected to. Within each iteration, it loops once per row in the table looping grid, producing multiple output loops.” So here we will loop (# of <StatementDates> nodes) * (Rows in the table), or 2 times. Drag two Table Extractor functoids onto the map; these are what are going to pull the data we want out of the table. The first input to each of these will be the output of the TableLooping functoid, and the second input will be the row number to pull from. So the functoid connected to <DTM01_DateTimeQualifier> will look like this: Connect these two functoids to the two nodes we want to populate, and connect another output from the Table Looping functoid to the <DTM_StatementDate> record. You should have a map that looks something like this: Create some sample xml, use it as the TestMap Input Instance, and you should get a result like the XML at the top of this post. • Openlayers - Redraw() layer. Add / Remove layer.

    - by Ozaki
TLDR: I have an Openlayers map with a layer called 'track' I want to remove track and add track back in. I have an image 'imageFeature' on a layer that rotates on load to the direction being set. I want it to update this rotation that is set in 'styleMap' on a layer called 'tracking'. I set the var 'stylemap' to apply the external image & rotation. The 'imageFeature' is added to the layer at the coords specified. 'imageFeature' is removed. 'imageFeature' is added again in its new location. Rotation is not applied.. As the 'styleMap' applies to the layer I think that I have to remove the layer and add it again rather than just the 'imageFeature' Layer: var tracking = new OpenLayers.Layer.GML("Tracking", "coordinates.json", { format: OpenLayers.Format.GeoJSON, styleMap: styleMap }); styleMap: var styleMap = new OpenLayers.StyleMap({ fillOpacity: 1, pointRadius: 10, rotation: heading, }); Now wrapped in a timed function the imageFeature: map.layers[3].addFeatures(new OpenLayers.Feature.Vector( new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(longitude, latitude), {rotation: heading, type: parseInt(Math.random() * 3)} )); Type refers to a lookup of 1 of 3 images.: styleMap.addUniqueValueRules("default", "type", lookup); var lookup = { 0: {externalGraphic: "Image1.png", rotation: heading}, 1: {externalGraphic: "Image2.png", rotation: heading}, 2: {externalGraphic: "Image3.png", rotation: heading} } I have tried the 'redraw()' function: but it returns "tracking is undefined" or "map.layers[2]" is undefined. tracking.redraw(true); map.layers[2].redraw(true); Heading is a variable: from a JSON feed. var heading = 13.542; But so far can't get anything to work it will only rotate the image onload. The image will move in coordinates as it should though. So what am I doing wrong with the redraw function or how can I get this image to rotate live? Thanks in advance -Ozaki Add: I managed to get map.layers[2].redraw(true); to sucessfully redraw layer 2. But it still does not update the rotation. I am thinking because the stylemap is updating. But it runs through the style map every n sec, but no updates to rotation and the variable for heading is updating correctly if i put a watch on it in firebug.

  • jqtouch / google maps api v3 issue

    - by Rigo Vides
Hi everyone, I'm having a hard time triying to make jQtouch and Google Maps api V3 together. I've tried almost everything. It seems that the only source of information is here I checked every single post. I'm starting with jQuery and css... so there's a lot of stuff I don't understand. First of all, I'm using jQtouch framework to build a web app with google maps integration, the problem is that whenever I pan the map, strange flickering occurs. It's like jQtouch and the map are trying to fight for a callback. I'm using the latest revision out there. And have several bugs, regarding transition/animation functionality (since I don't wrap the map and all the element's divs within the #jqt wrapper) and css issues with some styling. Anyone has successfully achieve a functional setup build for this scenario? (google maps api v3 & jqtouch), I think is not necessary to paste you some code (But if you think is necessary please let me know and I'll do it), If you paste me a minimal example with a map (detailing jqtouch version, and modification to the styles/.js files), and some transition back and forth from the map to another div/section/page, you'll get the bounty. Thanks a lot in advance. And please, let me know if this is kind of 'legal' here, I mean, there's too loose information on the official wiki, and like 13 'solutions' but nothing concrete... I'm just triying to help anyone who step on in this problem in the future.

  • trying to convert rails 2.3.4 app to rails 3 but views not appearing

    - by kgrad
I have a simple rails 2.3.4 application I am trying to get running with rails 3.0.0-beta2. I have the server running and all my links and navigation showing, however for some reason the content of my views is not displaying. When I navigate to Site/index the html in my index.html.erb in my site view is completely ignored. There are no errors in the server log. My template is rendered properly (where all the links and navigation are being created) within application.html.erb however all of my actual view files are being ignored. Has anyone experienced this? I am using old style routing with map.connect, could this be the issue? Does anyone have a tutorial on how to convert old routes to new ones? I couldn't figure it out. my current routes look like this: map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' map.root :controller => :site, :action => :index

  • Using Google Maps v3, PHP and Json to plot markers

    - by bateman_ap
    Hi, I am creating a map using the new(ish) v3 of the Google Maps API I have managed to get a map displaying using code as below: var myLatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(50.8194000,-0.1363000); var myOptions = { zoom: 14, center: myLatlng, mapTypeControl: false, scrollwheel: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("location-map"), myOptions); However I now want to add a number of markers I have stored in a PHP array. The Array currently looks like this if I print it out to screen: Array ( [0] => Array ( [poiUid] => 20 [poiName] => Brighton Cineworld [poiCode] => brighton-cineworld [poiLon] => -0.100450 [poiLat] => 50.810780 [poiType] => Cinemas ) [1] => Array ( [poiUid] => 21 [poiName] => Brighton Odeon [poiCode] => brighton-odeon [poiLon] => -0.144420 [poiLat] => 50.821860 [poiType] => Cinemas ) ) All the reading I have done so far suggests I turn this into JSON by using json_encode If I run the Array though this and echo it to the screen I get: [{"poiUid":"20","poiName":"Brighton Cineworld","poiCode":"brighton-cineworld","poiLon":"-0.100450","poiLat":"50.810780","poiType":"Cinemas"},{"poiUid":"21","poiName":"Brighton Odeon","poiCode":"brighton-odeon","poiLon":"-0.144420","poiLat":"50.821860","poiType":"Cinemas"}] The bit now is where I am struggling, I am not sure the encoded array is what I need to start populating markers, I think I need something like the code below but not sure how to add the markers from my passed through JSON var locations = $jsonPoiArray; for (var i = 0;i < locations.length; i += 1) { // Create a new marker };

  • Good examples of MapServer / OpenLayers

    - by MarkJ
I want to convince some clients to use MapServer and OpenLayers. Please can anyone suggest attractive websites to show off the possiblities! The clients will be impressed by: A density map (otherwise known as a heat map, colour-shaded grid coverage, contour plot...). The ability for the user to download the underlying data for the density map, restricted to the area being viewed, in some format such as netCDF. Standard OpenLayers stuff. Zooming, panning, scale bar, overview map... Different base layers. Could be WMS, Google, Bing... Searching for a placename, map is panned to display the place. MapServer.org seems to be down right now :( But from memory their examples didn't have the "wow" factor. The OpenLayers examples demonstrate only one or two features per example - I want something to wow the clients by showing all the capabilities in one example. PS If you have good examples that use some other open source tools, post them by all means. But just JavaScript please: customer says no rich client.

I have a sqlite3 table that I'm trying to map to an object in objective-C. One attribute of the table is 'completed_at' which is stored as a DATETIME. I want to create a property on my objective-C class (which inherits from NSObject) that will map well to the 'completed_at' attribute. Objective-C has an NSDate type but I'm not sure if that will map directly?

    - by baron
I am trying to build a webservice that manipulates http requests POST and GET. Here is a sample: public class CodebookHttpHandler: IHttpHandler { public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { if (context.Request.HttpMethod == "POST") { //DoHttpPostLogic(); } else if (context.Request.HttpMethod == "GET") { //DoHttpGetLogic(); } } ... public void DoHttpPostLogic() { ... } public void DoHttpGetLogic() { ... } I need to deploy this but I am struggling how to start. Most online references show making a website, but really, all I want to do is respond when an HttpPost is sent. I don't know what to put in the website, just want that code to run. Edit: I am following this site as its exactly what I'm trying to do. I have the website set up, I have the code for the handler in a .cs file, i have edited the web.config to add the handler for the file extension I need. Now I am at the step 3 where you tell IIS about this extension and map it to ASP.NET. Also I am using IIS 7 so interface is slightly different than the screenshots. This is the problem I have: 1) Go to website 2) Go to handler mappings 3) Go Add Script Map 4) request path - put the extension I want to handle 5) Executable- it seems i am told to set aspnet_isapi.dll here. Maybe this is incorrect? 6) Give name 7) Hit OK button: Add Script Map Do you want to allow this ISAPI extension? Click "Yes" to add the extension with an "Allowed" entry to the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list or to update an existing extension entry to "Allowed" in the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions list. Yes No Cancel 8) Hit Yes Add Script Map The specified module required by this handler is not in the modules list. If you are adding a script map handler mapping, the IsapiModule or the CgiModule must be in the modules list. OK edit 2: Have just figured out that that managed handler had something to do with handlers witten in managed code, script map was to help configuring an executable and module mapping to work with http Modules. So I should be using option 1 - Add Managed Handler. See: http://yfrog.com/11managedhandlerp I know what my request path is for the file extension... and I know name (can call it whatever I like), so it must be the Type field I am struggling with. In the applications folder (in IIS) so far I just have the MyHandler.cs and web.config (Of course also a file with the extension I am trying to create the handler for!) edit3: progress So now I have the code and the web.config set up I test to see If I can browse to the filename.CustomExtension file: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map. So in IIS7 I go to Handler Mappings and add it in. See this MSDN example, it is exactly what I am trying to follow The class looks like this: using System.Web; namespace HandlerAttempt2 { public class MyHandler : IHttpHandler { public MyHandler() { //TODO: Add constructor logic here } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { var objResponse = context.Response; objResponse.Write("<html><body><h1>It just worked"); objResponse.Write("</body></html>"); } public bool IsReusable { get { return true; } } } } I add the Handler in as follows: Request path: *.whatever Type: MyHandler (class name - this appears correct as per example!) Name: whatever Try to browse to the custom file again (this is in app pool as Integrated): HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error Handler "whatever" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler" in its module list Try to browse to the custom file again (this is in app pool as CLASSIC): HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler.

  • ASP.NET MVC Consume JSONResult in Bing Maps API

    - by rockinthesixstring
I know there are a few topics on this, but I seem to be fumbling my way through with no results. I'm trying to use a controller to return JSON results to my Bin Maps functions. Here's what I have for my controller (yes it is properly returning JSON data. Function Regions() As JsonResult Dim rj As New List(Of RtnJson)() rj.Add(New RtnJson("135 Bow Meadows Drive, Cochrane, Alberta", "desc", "title")) rj.Add(New RtnJson("12 Bowridge Dr NW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada", "desc2", "title2")) Return Json(rj, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet) End Function Then in my script I have this, but it's not working. <script type="text/javascript"> var map = null; var centerLat = 51.045 ; var centerLon = -114.05722; var json_object = $.getJSON("<%: Url.Action("Regions", "Events")%>"); function LoadMap() { map = new VEMap('bingMap'); map.LoadMap(new VELatLong(centerLat, centerLon), 10); $.each(json_object, function () { alert(this.address); //this alert is returning "address is undefined" StartGeocoding(this.address, this.title, this.desc); }); } function StartGeocoding(address, title, desc) { map.Find(null, // what address, // where null, // VEFindType (always VEFindType.Businesses) null, // VEShapeLayer (base by default) null, // start index for results (0 by default) null, // max number of results (default is 10) null, // show results? (default is true) null, // create pushpin for what results? (ignored since what is null) true, // use default disambiguation? (default is true) false, // set best map view? (default is true) GeocodeCallback); // call back function } function GeocodeCallback(shapeLayer, findResults, places, moreResults, errorMsg) { var bestPlace = places[0]; // Add pushpin to the *best* place var location = bestPlace.LatLong; var newShape = new VEShape(VEShapeType.Pushpin, location); var desc = "Latitude: " + location.Latitude + "<br>Longitude:" + location.Longitude; newShape.SetDescription(desc); newShape.SetTitle(bestPlace.Name); map.AddShape(newShape); } $(document).ready(function () { LoadMap(); }); </script>

  • “if” statement vs OO Design - 2

    - by hilal
I encountered similar problem “if” statement vs OO Design - 1 but it is slightly different. Here is the problem that open the popup (different objects/popups) onValueChange of listbox Popup1 p1; // different objects Popup2 p2; // different objects Popup3 p3; ... listbox.add("p1"); listbox.add("p2"); listbox.add("p3"); ... listbox.addChangeHandler() { if(getSelectedItem().equals("p1")){ p1 = new Popup1(); p1.show(); } else if() {...} .... } I don't want to write "if" that if p1 then p1 = new Popup1(); p1.center(); How I can handle this situation? Any design-pattern? Here is my solution but it is so costly map() { map.put("p1", new Popup1()); map.put("p2", new Popup2()); map.put("p3", new Popup3()); } onValueChange() { map.get(selectedItem).show(); } One drawback is initialization all the popups. but it is require only when valueChange

  • Using PHP/MySQL with Google Maps

    - by Anders Kitson
Hiya, I followed this tutorial below http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlajax_v3.html#outputxml I ran into trouble, near then end, I am hoping someone else here has got this working and can help me discover my problem. Simply there are 4 steps to this tutorial Creating the Table Populating the Table Outputting XML with PHP Creating the Map I successfully have completed all the steps, however the outputted xml isn't read by the google map I created. The files are all on the same directory, and I didn't change any of the file names from the tutorial. The tutorial has a step to test if the php file called phpsqlajax_genxml.php is outputting the xml and I successfully tested it and it was. The problem is that the map isn't rendering the items I have in the database, that should be converted to xml for the map to read. Any help, or pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
