My thoughts: put the servers in separate (sub)networks the servers are forced to go through the firewall but no NAT is required assign more IP addresses to the internal interface of the server choosing gateway addresses from the clients and servers IP address ranges split DNS Netfilter/{iptables, ipset} could be heavily involved, I'm talking about Linux servers.     i have a biztalk - window service tied middleware application which talks to other system. recently we had a request to test for scenarios which relates to the date. as we have a lot of places in the application which uses the .net Datetime.Now value, we don't really want to go into the code level and change all these values. so we're looking at the simplest way to test which is to just change the OS time. but what we notice is that sometimes when we change the system date time, we will get account lock out due to Active Directory. So my question is what's a good and safe way that i can test for future dates, etc by changing the windows OS system date time but without causing any issues with the Active Directory. And where can i find out more about AD and how it issues token and what's the correlation with the system date time changes. Thanks! ~m

  • How to detect non-graceful disconnect of Twisted on Linux?

    I wrote a server based on Twisted, and I encountered a problem, some of the clients are disconnected not gracefully. For example, the user pulls out the network cable. For a while, the client on Windows is disconnected (the connectionLost is called, and it is also written in Twisted). And on the Linux server side, my connectionLost of twisted is never triggered. Even it try to writes data to client, but the connection is lost. Why Twisted can't detect those non-graceful disconnection (even write data to client) on Linux? How to makes Twisted detect non-graceful disconnections? Because the feature Twisted can't detect non-graceful, I have lots of zombie user on my server. Thanks. Victor Lin.

The problem is that the proxied objects can only intercept virtual methods and will return the return type's default value for non-virtual methods. I can tell whether a class is proxied or not based whether the class or any of it's method has an interception attribute, e.g. [Transaction] Is it possible to write a ReSharper 5 structural search that would warn if any non-virtual public methods are defined on a class with an interception attribute. E.g. Ok public class InterceptedClass { [Transaction] public virtual void TransactionalMethod() { ... } public virtual void AnotherMethod() { ... } } Bad public class InterceptedClass { [Transaction] public virtual void TransactionalMethod() { ... } public void AnotherMethod() // non-virtual method will not be called by proxy { ... } } Many Thanks.

    I'm new to modeling star schemas, fresh from reading the Data Warehouse Toolkit. I have a business process that has clients and non-clients calling into conference calls with some of our employees. My fact table, call it "Audience", will contain a measure of how long an attending person was connected to the call, and the cost per minute of this person's connection to the call. The grain is "individual connection to the conference call". Should I use my conformed Client dimension and create a non-client dimension (for the callers that are not yet clients) this way (omitting dimensions that are not part of this questions): Or would it be OK/better to have a non-conformed Attending dimension related to the conformed Client dimension in this manner: Or is there a better/standard mechanism to model business processes like this one?

The problem I have is that there are behind-the-scenes model validations being performed that are not tied to any specific attribute. An example of this in the above model is that the Age property needs to be an int. If you try to enter a non-integer value on the form, it will error with the following (non-localized) message: The field Age must be a number. How can these non-attribute validation messages be localized? Is there a full list of these messages available so I can make sure they are all localized?

    I have noticed that Google Toolbox for Mac replaces several SQLite built-in functions (LOWER/UPPER, LIKE, GLOB) with its own versions that handle string locales better. So, question to everyone who has SQLite experience: have you ever had any problems with non-English locales in SQLite? Does one really have to do something to properly handle non-English alphabets? What kinds of problems are expected if I use SQLite APIs as-is? (I'm going to use SQLite on the iPhone, but I guess it's the same across all platforms. I've been using Core Data previously and never had any problems, but this time I want to switch to non-ORMed db access.)

    I just came across a query that does an inner join on a non-distinct field. I've never seen this before and I'm a little confused about this usage. Something like: SELECT distinct all, my, stuff FROM myTable INNER JOIN myOtherTable ON myTable.nonDistinctField = myOtherTable.nonDistinctField (WHERE some filters here...) I'm not quite sure what my question is or how to phrase it, or why exactly this confuses me, but I was wondering if anyone could explain why someone would need to do an inner join on a non-distinct field and then select only distinct values...? Is there ever a legitimate use of an inner join on a non-distinct field? What would be the purpose? And if there's is a legitimate reason for such a query, can you give examples of where it would be used?

  • Problem with files consists of spaces and single quotes?

    I'using the following code to create thumbnails using ffmpeg but it was working fine for the files which have no spaces or any quotes.. But when the file has a space (like 'sachin knock.flv') or files which have quotes (like sachin's_double_cent.mp4) it doesn't work.. What can i do to get those files work accurately? One restriction is that i can't rename files as they are lump some.. GPL and similar licenses are not non-commercial, but I don't want end up competing against software I wrote, so I can't use them. Are there non-commercial software licenses? Preferably some that are at least somewhat known. For know I thinking to use Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0. But Creative Commons don't recommend using their licenses for software, but using software specific licenses instead.

    i spent some time with the environment variable CA_COLOR_OPAQUE = 1 and have my findings to share. things that make a CALayer non-opaque (slow, more memory, ...): * contents with alpha (like an NSImage with an icon) * NSImage/CGImage from a pdf as contents (even when the pdf does not contain any alpha and opaque=YES) * backgroundColor = nil * CATextLayer with text in a (because it is contents with alpha) * rounded corners? maybe/sometimes * masksToBounds? not necessarily as we scale most of tree with CATransform3DScale on sublayerTransform i found also these rather irritating non-opaque: * CAGradientLayer that is somewhere down in this scaled tree (even when set all the gradient colors without alpha) * edgeAntialiasingMask != 0 of a layer that is somewhere down in this scaled tree the last two do not make sense to me. why should it be non opaque? what do i see? if anyone has any thoughts on these findings, i'm happy to learn as i couldn't find such a list yet.

  • jQuery e.stopPropagation() - how to use without breaking dropbox functionality altogether?

    Short story: stopPropagation() prevents a dropdown menu from closing - which is good. But it also prevents the dropbox from opening next time around - which is bad. So I've tried with the e.stopPropagation(), which does indeed prevent the dropdown from closing. Then, when I press enter in the searchbox, I'm closing the dropdown with a .toggle() - also seems to work fine. The PROBLEM arises when I want to to it all again, because the e.stopPropagation() has now disabled the dropdown alltogether - ie. when I press the dropdown menu, it doesn't open anymore!     After the introduction of Java Memory Model, the Swing guidelines were changed to state that any Swing components need to be instantiated on the EDT in order to avoid non-published instance state. What I could not find anywhere is whether the classloading is also mandated to be on the EDT or can we pre-load key Swing classes in a background thread? Is there any official statement from Sun/Oracle on this? Are there any classes that are known to hold non-threadsafe static state, hence need to be loaded on EDT?

    Valgrind tells me function xxx allocated memory which was not freed. Fine. It's proving more difficult than usual to trace however. To this end I have created numerous: #ifdef DEBUG fprintf(stderr, "something happening:%lx\n", (unsigned long)ptr); #endif So I just need to match these ptr addresses that are displayed with the addresses of non-freed memory. How can I get valgrind to tell me the address of each non-freed block of memory?
