• Force column order, Excel data table

  I have a Excel Workbook that I use as a report template. I change the datasource on each pivot and datatable in a C# app. When I change the datatable datasource it tweeks the columns. • tk: how to invoke it just to display something, and return to the main program?

  Sorry for the noob question but I really don't understand this. I'm using python / tkinter and I want to display something (say, a canvas with a few shapes on it), and keep it displayed until the program quits. I understand that no widgets would be displayed until I call tkinter.tk.mainloop(). However, if I call tkinter.tk.mainloop(), I won't be able to do anything else until the user closes the main window. I don't need to monitor any user input events, just display some stuff. What's a good way to do this without giving up control to mainloop? • CSS not displayed depending on page

  I have a friend that has a really strange issue with my website. When he clicks on http://www.copeo.fr/ the page displays fine but when he clicks on a link like www.copeo.fr/user/ the CSS is not applied even after a refresh. The raw html does display. I asked him to display the CSS that is hosted on amazon S3 hcopeoressources.s3.amazonaws.com/style/futurvert/style.css and it displays fine. The code validates on W3C validator so does the CSS. I am lost what could be the origin of the issue. Could it be its enterprise cache? configuration of IE7 on his machine? If it happens to someone else who could explain the issue to me, I am all hears. Thanks

If not, then what class should handle persistence and how should the persistence class fit into the client-side architecture overall? • MS Access vs SQL Server and others ? Is it worth taking a db server when less than 2 Gb and only 20

  After my experiment with MSAccess vs MySQL which shows MS Access hugely overperforming Mysql odbc insert by a factor 1000% before I would do the same experiment with SQL Server I searched for some other's people and found this one: http://blog.nkadesign.com/2009/access-vs-sql-server-some-stats-part-1/ which says "As a side note, in this particular test, Access offers much better raw performance than SQL Server. In more complex scenarios it’s very likely that Access’ performance would degrade more than SQL Server, but it’s nice to see that Access isn’t a sloth." So is worth bother with some db server when data is less than 2 Gb and users are about 20 (knowing that MS Access theorically supports up to 255 concurrent users though practically it's around a dozen concurrent users only). Are there any real world studies that really compare MS Access with other db in these specific use case ? Because professionaly speaking I keep hearing people systematically recommend DB server from people who have never used Access just because they think DB Server can only perform better in every case which I used to think myself I confess.

• Why does SQLAlchemy with psycopg2 use_native_unicode have poor performance?

  I'm having a difficult time figuring out why a simple SELECT query is taking such a long time with sqlalchemy using raw SQL (I'm getting 14600 rows/sec, but when running the same query through psycopg2 without sqlalchemy, I'm getting 38421 rows/sec). After some poking around, I realized that toggling sqlalchemy's use_native_unicode parameter in the create_engine call actually makes a huge difference. This query takes 0.5secs to retrieve 7300 rows: from sqlalchemy import create_engine engine = create_engine("postgresql+psycopg2://localhost...", use_native_unicode=True) r = engine.execute("SELECT * FROM logtable") fetched_results = r.fetchall() This query takes 0.19secs to retrieve the same 7300 rows: engine = create_engine("postgresql+psycopg2://localhost...", use_native_unicode=False) r = engine.execute("SELECT * FROM logtable") fetched_results = r.fetchall() The only difference between the 2 queries is use_native_unicode. But sqlalchemy's own docs state that it is better to keep use_native_unicode=True (http://docs.sqlalchemy.org/en/latest/dialects/postgresql.html). Does anyone know why use_native_unicode is making such a big performance difference? And what are the ramifications of turning off use_native_unicode?

• SSRS Issue: Rounding to nearest .25

  I have an SSRS (2008) report that takes in a raw transactions, then groups and totals them. At the "Total" level, I would like to round the final numbers to the nearest .25, however I cannot find a method to do this. According to what I've read, the Round() function in SSRS only rounds to integers. I have found a couple ways to do it in SQL, but the problem is, I want to do all the calculations with the REAL numbers and just round the result so that I don't introduce a significant amount of error from the real numbers. Here's the best SQL solution I could find: dec(round(number * 4, 0)/4,11,2) as Nearest_Qtr Anyone know how I could do the equivalent in the actual SSRS report? Thanks in advance for the help!

  I'm trying to debug some auto-generated code, but I am a mySQL noob. Everything goes fine ultil the "prepare" line below, and then for some reason $mysqli_stmt is false, yielding the stated error. Could it have something to do with the SQL_MODE = 'ANSI'? The failure seems to have something to do with the string 'xxx' below, but it still happens no matter what I change it to. • Merging tables in MySQL - sum up columns

  I have an interesting problem, that i am sure has a simple answer, but i can't seem to find it in the docs. I have two separate database tables, on different servers. They are both identical table schema with the same primary keys. I want to merge the tables together on one server. But, if the row on Server1.Table1 exists in Server2.Table2 then sum up the totals in the columns i specify. Table1{ column_pk, counter }; "test1", 3 "test2", 4 Table2{ column_pk, counter }; "test1", 5 "test2", 6 So after i merge i want: "test1",8 "test2",10 Basically i need to do a mysqldump but instead of it kicking out raw INSERT statements, i need to do a INSERT..ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE statements. • Cocoa button won't display image

  Just started exploring Cocoa so pretty much a total noob. I've written a very simple game. Set it up in Interface Builder and got it working fine. It contains a number of buttons and I'm now trying to get the buttons to display images. To start with I'm trying to get an image displayed on just one of the buttons which is called tile0 . The image file (it's nothing but a green square at the moment, but I'm just trying to get that working before I attempt anything more exotic) is sitting in the same directory as the class file which controls the game. I have the following code sitting in my wakeFromNib method: NSString *myImageFileName = [[NSString alloc] init]; myImageFileName = @"greenImage.jpg"; NSImage *myImage = [[NSImage alloc] initByReferencingFile:myImageFileName]; [tile0 setImage: myImage]; Trouble is, the game runs fine, but the image isn't appearing on my button.   I'm calling a method of my WebAPI sending a json that I would like to match (or bind) with a model. In the controller I have a method like: public Result Post([ModelBinder(typeof(CustomModelBinder))]MyClass model); 'MyClass', wich is given as a parameter is an abstract class. I would like that at, depending of the type of json passed, the correct inherited class is instantiated. To achieve it, I'm trying to implement a custom binder. The problem is that (I don't know if it's very basic but I can't find anything) I don't know how to retrieve the raw Json (or better, some kind of serialization) that comes in the request. I see: actionContext.Request.Content But all methods are exposed as async. I don't know who this fits with passing the generate model to the controller method... Thanks a lot!

• Including Data From DropDownList Into Gridview

  I feel a little embarassed posting two questions relating to the same problem, but the first one ended up answering a question that I believe is unrelated to the solution so I'm leaving it up and outlining what I'm trying to accomplish with the hopes that someone can help out a .Net noob. What I need to be able to do is create a field in my gridview that contains a link that passes two variables. One is pulled from within the gridviews datasource and the other needs to be pulled from a textbox control outside the gridview. From what I've read so far you cannot use a hyperlinkfield for this as the datanavigateurlfields cannot be set to pull from anything but the gridview's data source. What I attempted to do was create a template field where in the itemtemplate I called: <a href="example.aspx?e=<%# Eval(ExampleList.SelectedItem.Value) %>">Test</a> That comes back with an error like this: DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the value 'TestData' Any clues to make this happen would be appreciated, like I said I'm pretty new to .Net so please be gentle. I tried to do my homework before posting this.

  When I'm debugging my Silverlight Appliction and I'm using a list internally I cannot hover over the list and see the items inside the list. I just see the RAW view of the list. If I want to see the items I have to write my own code which is tedious. Is this something normal to Silverlight?   I have to store a complex type in the application settings. I thought that storing it as XML would work best. The problem is I don't know how store XML. I prefer to store it as a managed XML rather than using just a string of raw XML having to parse it on each access. I managed to set the Type column of the setting to XDocument, but I was unable to set its value. Is there a way to use XDocument or XML in application settings? Update I found a way, simply by editing the .settings file with the xml editor. I changed it to a custom serializable dictionary, but I get the following error when I try to access the setting-property (I set it to a serialized representation of the default value). The property 'Setting' could not be created from it's default value. Error message: There is an error in XML document (1, 41). Any ideas will be appreciated.
