• PHP - advice for java HashMap alternative in php?

  I know it is super noob and will be answered in no time, but I could not figure.. sorry for any inconvenience.. Here is the thing: ID colA colB Length 1 seq1 seq11 1 2 seq1 seq11 11 3 seq3 seq33 21 4 seq3 seq33 14 I have a db with this kind of a table, has more than 10M rows. I want to loop though colA first, get the relevant colB value, and check if there are any other occurrences of the same value. For example in colB (seq11) there are 2 occurrences of colA(seq1), this time I have to combine those and output the sum of the length. Similar to this: ID colA colB Length 1 seq1 seq11 12 2 seq3 seq33 35 I am a bit java guy, but because my colleague has written everything in php and this will be just an adding, i need a php solution. With java i would have used hashmap, so that I would have the colA data once and just increment the value of "Length Column".. I know it is not a proper question, but.. • How the websocket bi-directional concept work?

  I think the main difference between websocket and http streaming (I am not refering to polling and long polling) is websocket allows bi-directional communication which is similar to usual raw socket programming. (above is my understanding, could be wrong, feel free to correct me.) My question is how the web client (browser) continue to send another request in the already-opened websocket? Usual http request will treat another request as new socket connection, but websocket does not, that is why I am confused, how it achieve that? It should be handled in Server side or Client (browser) side?

  Suppose I have a STL map where the values are pointers, and I want to delete them all. How would I represent the following code, but making use of std::for_each? I'm happy for solutions to use Boost. for( stdext::hash_map<int, Foo *>::iterator ir = myMap.begin(); ir != myMap.end(); ++ir ) { delete ir->second; // delete all the (Foo *) values. } (I've found Boost's checked_delete, but I'm not sure how to apply that to the pair<int, Foo *> that the iterator represents). (Also, for the purposes of this question, ignore the fact that storing raw pointers that need deleting in an STL container isn't very sensible).

• Extracting the most duplicate value from an array in JavaScript (with jQuery)

  I have several array to deal with. I need to extract the most duplicate value from each array. From [3, 7, 7, 7], I need to find the value 7. Each array size is 4. For now, I don't have to think about when the most duplicate values are more than one such as [3, 7, 7, 7]. All the values are a number. I looked around the web. I found several ways to make an array to become uniq(). But I haven't found a way to get the duplicate value. I am using jQuery, but raw JavaScript is fine for this task.

• How access Ajax generated source ?

  Hello everyone, I created a php file that return dynamically generated text. This text is returned with a div id. When I retrieve that text using Ajax as responseText. I would like to access the properties of that div using javascript, which is impossible since that new text is not added to the DOM. My question is, how can i access that div using either raw javascript or frameworks (am somewhat familiar with jQuery) ? It may be useful to note that the div can be accessed using CSS. Thank you.

• preg_match_all confusing failing

When parsing a Google Contact file I exported it weirdly fails. But when I simply copy the string that is echo'd and paste that instead of the file_get_contents result, it parses and works. Any idea why it is refusing to take the file_get_contents string, but if I paste in the raw data myself, it works?

• Facebook Open Graph Debugger Error

  Hi I am new to programming and have tried to make a facebook app with open graph beta tutorial. I have done exactly as described in the tutorial but when i try to use the debug tool it gives me an error: Extraneous Property: Objects of this type do not allow properties named og:app_id. I have noticed and searched that its doing this because the tag needs to be <fb:app_id>. I checked my file it says fb:app_id only, but the raw data that pulls up on the debug tool shows meta property="og:app_id" content="267029796703617" even though i have changed and uploaded with fb:app_id. I have checked my page several times and tried some possible solutions but have had no success. Can someone help me fix this.

• Possible to exclude or reorder a column from `*` ?

  Is it possible to exclude a column from a select * from table statement with SQL Server? I have a need for this and this is my only option other than parsing a raw SQL string to get out the required field names (I really don't want to do that). Just to be bold. When the query is made I do not have access to the list of fields needed from the table but I do know which field I do not need. This is part of a complex multi-part query. Surely there must be some way even if it's "hackish" such as using table variables or views My other option is to reorder the columns. My problem is with ExecuteScalar SQL functions which get the first row and first column.

• Android Loading & Playing Sound Based on String

  I'm currently working on a simple Android app, and right now I am trying to get it to load in and play sounds. The problem I am faced with is that I want the sound it uses to be based on a string (With the same name as the sound file). The reason for this is simplicity in both the code and adding on to it. Now unfortunately I can't just slap a string in place of referencing the actual sound, but is there some way for me to compare a string to the entire raw folder to find the matching sound, or some other alternative short of defining every sound manually? Basically I am making a editor for certain elements in a web.config and I extract them as XElements and my View binds to a Collection of DataItems which has a property that contains my XElement. When I do Text="{Binding Path=Data, Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnSourceUpdated=True}"/> I get all the text of the Element, but If I try Text="{Binding Path=Data.Elements[], Mode=OneWay, NotifyOnSourceUpdated=True}"/> It doesn't work the TextBox is empty. I am trying to find a way to Template different sections dynamically to make them easier to edit instead of editing raw XMl.

• How to replicate Google "Hangouts On Air" stream combining functionality?

  I've been researching this one for quite a bit but haven't found any solid leads. I have a Wowza/Flash app with video chatroom functionality and would like to combine the streams server-side into one video/audio stream in order to be sent to a live Youtube channel. I've found a couple projects such as jMixer and some helpful keywords such as "vision mixer" to help with my search but looking for any previous experience or new ideas. The other option is building something like it myself with a commercial video decoding/encoding library to raw frames, stitching the frames together, then encoding it. I was originally going down this route but put project on hold. What are some ideas, keywords, or existing software (open source preferred) to take those live streams and combine them into one in real-time? Or is coding it myself the required route? Thanks!

  I have a string that is read from a usb apogee camera that is a 12-bit grayscale image with the 12-bits each occupying the lowest 12 bits of 16-bits words. I want to create a 8-bit png from this string by ignoring the lowest 4 bits. I can convert it to a 16-bit image where the highest 4 bits are always zero using PIL with import Image imageStr is the image string imageSize is the image size img=Image.fromstring("I", imageSize, imageStr, "raw", "I;16", 0,1) img.save("MyImage.png", "PNG") Anyway I can do something similar to create a 8-bit image without completely unpacking the string doing arithmetic and making a new string?

• Dump Hibernate activity to sql script file

  Hi, I'm trying to log hibernate activity (only dml operations) to an sql script file. My goal is to have a way to reconstruct the database from a given starting point to the current state by executing the generated script. I can get the sql queries from log4j logs but they have more information than the raw sql queries and i would need to parse them and extract only the helpful statements. So i'm looking for a programatic way, maybe by listening the persist/merge/delete operations and accessing the hibernate-generated sql statements. I don't like to reinvent the wheel so, if anybody know a way for doing this i would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance

  Suppose I'm trying to run a script of unknown origin, and one of the functions is from a package that is not loaded by the script (an oversight, maybe it was loaded in the .Rprofile of the person who wrote it). How can I find in which package this function resides? There's some information compiled on CRAN, that doesn't require the user to download/install all R packages locally; however as far as I could tell it only gives access to the DESCRIPTION files. RSiteSearch, and its web equivalent, seem to access an online database of all CRAN packages, where presumably a list of all functions would be available. Is there some way of accessing this information? Thanks. Edit: I know sos::findFn, utils::RSiteSearch and search.r-project; what I would like is to get the raw data that these tools use.

• How do you send an extended-ascii AT-command (CCh) from Android bluetooth to a serial device?

  This one really has me banging my head. I'm sending alphanumeric data from an Android app, through the BluetoothChatService, to a serial bluetooth adaptor connected to the serial input of a radio transceiver. Everything works fine except when I try to configure the radio on-the-fly with its AT-commands. The AT+++ (enter command mode) is received OK, but the problem comes with the extended-ascii characters in the next two commands: Changing the radio destination address (which is what I'm trying to do) requires CCh 10h (plus 3 hex radio address bytes), and exiting the command mode requires CCh ATO. I know the radio can be configured OK because I've done it on an earlier prototype with the serial commands from PIC basic, and it also can be configured by entering the commands directly from hyperterm. Both these methods somehow convert that pesky CCh into a form the radio understands. I've have tried just about everything an Android noob could possibly come up with to finagle the encoding such as: private void command_address() { byte[] addrArray = {(byte) 0xCC, 16, 36, 65, 21, 13}; CharSequence addrvalues = EncodingUtils.getString(addrArray, "UTF-8"); sendMessage((String) addrvalues); } but no matter what, I can't seem to get that high-order byte (CCh/204/-52) to behave as it should. All other (< 127) bytes, command or data, transmit with no problem. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. -Dave

How would I go about doing this if it's even possible? Raw sql queries are good answers too because they're pretty easy to turn into DQL.

• How do I switch the table that is queried with linq-to-sql

  We have two tables with the same set of columns; depending on the “type” of object the value is stored in one of the two tables. I wish to use common code to access these two tables. If I was using “raw sql” I could just use String.Format() to change the table name. (Likewise for updates etc) The two separate tables are needed as the data access patterns are very different for the common queries on the two tables and therefore different indexes are needed. “Views” and “instead of triggers” etc to make the tables look like a single table are not liked here. A lot of our customers use low end version of SqlServer so we cannot use partition tables.

• HTTP server that handles requests through IO devices?

  This question can probably only be answered for Unix-like systems that follow the "everything is a file" idiom. Would it be hard to create a web server that mounts local devices for handling http traffic? It would enable a program to read raw http requests from /dev/httpin (for example) and write the responses to /dev/httpout. I think this would be nice because it would allow me to create a web server from any programming language that is capable of handling IO streams. I don't really know where to start on this. Any suggestions on how to setup such a system?

• Guidance on E-commerce in a Python Framework

  I am looking for guidance in making decisions on using Python for E-commerce. My reasoning to use Python in the first place is i do a lot of 3D so it's a real help to use Python for web server side as well as 3D so I do not need to learn a new language. When I say E-commerce i mean the logic behind displaying products and a check out system that is Robust....and yes I really want to build this myself so I can change it. I do not want to use an out the box solution that costs a lot of money every month. I want control of server side, data bases, e-commerce etc. My questions are: What Frameworks are out there? I looked at previous questions on stackoverflow but only found old posts about Sachmo and Get paid. What is the learning path, I do not want to make a mistake that costs six months of studying? Python then Django? How long if I spent 10 hours a day studying this would it take to get up and running? I write javaScript badly, so I am not a complete noob, I understand the basics of programming languages. many thanks in advance

  Hi all, Im writing an app which reads an RSS feed and places items on a map. I need to read the lat and long numbers only from this string: http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk/map.aspx?isTrafficAlert=true&lat=53.647351&lon=-1.933506 .This is contained in link tags Im a bit of a programming noob but im writing this in C#/Silverlight using Linq to XML. Im going to try and do a regex on this this is where I need to integrate the regex somewhere in this code.   How are people handling the use of templates in their Go-based AppEngine applications? Specifically, I'm looking for a project structure that affords the following: Hierarchical (directory) structure of templates and partial templates Allow me to use HTML tools/editors on my templates (embedding template text in xxx.go files makes this difficult) Automatic reload of template text when on dev server Potential stumbling blocks are: template.ParseGlob() will not traverse recursively. For performance reasons it has been recommended not to upload your templates as raw text files (because those text files reside on different servers than executing code). Please note that I am not looking for a tutorial/examples of the use of the template package. This is more of an app structure question. • Securing database keys for client-side processing

  I have a tree of information which is sent to the client in a JSON object. In that object, I don't want to have raw IDs which are coming from the database. I thought of making a hash of the id and a field in the object (title, for example) or a salt, but I'm worried that this might have a serious effect on processing overhead. SELECT * FROM `things` where md5(concat(id,'some salt')) = md5('1some salt'); Is there a standard practice for obscuring IDs in this kind of situation?
