  • How can I add Outlook Office to Add or Programs\Set Program Access and Defaults\Custom options?

    I have recreated a new email user on a Windows SBS 2003 Active Directory via Advanced Management. I need to enable Outlook Office access on the user's PC but Microsoft Outlook Office does not show in the Add Programs\Set Program Access\Custom section. There are tools that allow you to hide the icon for Set program access but I need to add content, specifically Outlook Office. Outlook Express is enabled but I don't need it.

  • Is it possible to run multiple instances/windows of Finder in Mac OS X?

    Mac OS X's Finder seems to be the equivalent to Windows Explorer. In Windows, I enjoy having multiple instances of Explorer open to move/copy files from one folder in a window, to another folder in another window. How can I achieve this in Snow Leopard? I'd like to have shortcut key, as well as a dock icon solution. Or maybe there's a better program than Finder out there that does this?

    I have Chrome associated with .xlsx file on windows 8.1 machine In Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations it is not possible to remove association only to change it to another program. In Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations , .xlsx is not present in Chrome. I removed all keys from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.xlsx Still Chrome remains associated with that extension in Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations, Windows Explorer shows the Chrome icon with the .xlsx file.

  • Gedit opens on all workspaces?

    Im using Fedora 10 with XFCE. Every time I open Gedit, it opens a instance on every workspace. The circle icon on my window border is selected (meaning, enabled on all workspaces). When I disable it to appear on one workspace, then close and restart, Gedit opens normal (current workspace). Question is: How to keep this current configuration? If I restart my system, and start up Gedit, it appears on all workspaces again.

    I am a new Mac user and have an iMac. Coming from the Windows world where everything is installer based, OS X seems to mount .dmg files and run them. I've seen this happen prior to an install and later it requests us to move an icon to the Applications folder. Could someone help me unclutter the install process on OS X. What or how does it work?   • OS X wants to back up Macintosh HD to itself

    From time to time, OS X (10.6) will ask me if I want to perform a backup of my Macintosh HD, but the backup destination is obviously the HD itself. I have not plugged in any external device, nor is there a Time Capsule network share. A message like this will appear: Moreover, the Macintosh HD will suddenly have a Time Machine icon in Finder. Has somebody experienced the same and could help me identify how to stop OS X from using its own disk as the backup destination?

    In windows 7, I have a wifi network that shows up with a warning icon overlay and the "No internet access" description as shown in this image: The other network shown there is a VirtualBox VM, and is expected to show that way. Plainly, this notice is wrong as I have been browsing with that connection all afternoon and used it to post this question.     Can you suggest a good battery meter utility for Windows? Battery status being graphically displayed in the taskbar is the (obvious) minimum requirement. Anything else the utility can inform or do is a plus. (If the battery meter taskbar icon is turned off by an admin it does not appear for non-admin users. That could be another reason to look for a battery meter utility apart from the one which comes with Windows.)

    I downloaded garageband from mac app store but something happend with my internet connection - probably connection crashed - and downloading (or installing) stopped. When apps instalation didnt start, then I cklicked on install button at Mac AppStore. In Launchpad was created new icon of garageband which was downloaded again and internet connection crashed again.     Foxit PDF, doesn't have a shell extension to display thumbnails of PDF files in Windows Explorer (the thumbnails are shown instead of PDF document icons). Is there a shell extension that do that? i.e to see thumbnails instead of PDF icon. BTW, PDFXchange and Adobe have a shell extension such that the thumbnails are shown instead of PDF document icons.

    I can't seem to find a guide or reference on how to configure the 'indicator-applet' (aka MessagingMenu) that came about in the 9.04 release of Ubuntu. It's that little mail icon that lists messaging apps. I can find docs about what it should do, people complaining about how it works, references that the API changed in 9.10, but not much on how to change the configuration. The MessagingMenu design spec page says that the config file should be at $HOME/.config/indicators/messages/applications/, but there's nothing there on my install (9.10).

  • How to get files that are dragged on Aquamacs (or opened via Quicksilver) to open in the same frame

    In Aquamacs 2.0 preview 6, when opening new files externally (e.g., via Quicksilver or via dragging files on the Aquamacs icon) they always open in new frames (i.e., new windows). I would prefer new files to be opening in the same frame, just in a new buffer (possibly with tabs turned on). I already unchecked the option "Show Buffers in new Frames", but that only seems to affect the behavior of the built-in open command (Command-o). Are there any options for this or some other way to modify this behavior?

  • Run client applications from VMWare Workstation Host.

    Does anyone know how to run applications hosted on a client VM from an icon created on the host computer. For example I want to run IE8 installed on the client VM on my host XP computer running IE6. I cant update to IE6 on the host because of compliance issues. I'm trying to do this with VMWare Workstation 7. I'll post the solution if I can figure this out before I get your assistance. Thanks!!!

  • Samba share not accessible from Win 7 - tried advice on superuser

    I have an old Red Hat Linux box that I use, amongst other things, to run Samba. My Vista and remaining Win XP PC can access the p/w-protected Samba shares. I just set up a new Windows 7 64-bit Pro PC. Attempts to access the Samba shares by clicking on the Linux box's icon in 'Network' from this machine gave a Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. message when I gave the correct credentials. So I followed the suggestions in Windows 7, connecting to Samba shares (also checked here but found LmCompatibilityLevel was already 1). This got me a little further. If click on the Linux box's icon in 'Network' from this machine I now see icons for the shared directories. But when I click on one of these, I get \\LX\share is not accessible. You might not have permission... etc. I tried making the Win 7 password the same as my Samba p/w (the user name was already the same). Same result. The Linux box does part of what I need for ecommerce - the in-house part, it's not accessible to the Internet. As my Linux Fu is weak, I have to avoid changes to the Linux box, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what to do to Win 7 to make it behave like XP and Vista when accessing this share. Help please!? I had set 'Network security: LAN Manager authentication level' to Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated based on the advice in Windows 7, connecting to Samba shares and had restarted the machine, but that didn't work for me. I'll try playing with other Network security values. I have now tried the following: Network security: Allow Local System to use computer identity for NTLM: changed from Not Defined to "Enabled". Restarted machine Still says "\LX\share is not accessible. You might not have permission..." etc. Network security: Restrict NTLM: Add remote server exceptions for NTLM Authentication (added LX) Restarted machine Still says "\LX\share is not accessible. You might not have permission..." etc. I can't see any other Network security settings that might affect this. Any other ideas please? Thanks Roy

  • Mac OS X Sub Folders of Applications?

    Quite a hard question to phrase but I know there is an Applications folder in the Dock, above that being programs pinned to the dock, with a dot showing that they are open. Is there a way to organise these pinned applications into folders on the dock (such as 'Word Processing', 'Development' etc) so clicking the folder shows the apps inside and gives it focus when its open and the window is minimised the icon within that folder? So instead of having like 20 apps on the dock, you have 3 folders, with the apps inside?
