  • Is there a way to create my own "push pins" for a image without using Google Maps API?

    I am interested in working with friends via the internet on a fantasy world map. One of the things I want to do is host an image of the map online and allow us to insert push pins into the image that would then be associated with infoboxes. I don't want to resort to using the Google Map APIs mainly because this is something I want to just share among friends and not publicly. Terms of usage for the APIs state we would need to make the implementation available for everyone. This seems simple enough yet I've no idea how to do this. I looked into image maps, but that requires constant updates to the html markup itself. I just want to insert/delete/edit pushpins and infoboxes on the image and through our site itself. Can someone help me get started?

  • MySQL Query Where Column Like Column

    I'm working on a small project that involves grabbing a list of contacts which are stored for each group. Essentially, the database is set up so that each group has a primary and secondary contact stored as, unsurprisingly, Group.Primary and Group.Secondary. The objective is to pull every Primary and Secondary contact for each Group and display them in a sortable table. I have the sortable table all worked out, but I have come across a small problem. Each primary and secondary field can have more than one contact separated by a comma. For instance, if Primary contained 123,256 , it would need to pull both Contacts with IDs 123 and 256. I had intended to use a query formatted like this: SELECT * FROM Group G, Contacts C WHERE G.Primary LIKE %C.ID% OR G.Secondary LIKE %C.ID% so that I could just skip the comma part, but I can't seem to find a working query for this. My question to you is, am I just overlooking something here? Is there a simple query that would let me do this? Or am I better off getting the groups and contacts separately, and combine the two later. I think the former is a little easier to understand when read, which is a plus as this is a shared project, but if that is not possible I will do the latter. This code is simplified, but it gets the point across.

    I have multidimensional array which is a query returning the info from a table named 'users'. In another part of my code I need to get the records of only one certain user and I want to take it using the array I mentioned above. It's of type: array(24) { [0]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "1" ... } [1]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "2" ... } [2]=>array(9) { ["id"]=>string(1) "5" ...} I'll use foreach compairing by ["id"] to find the record I need, but when I get a match I'm not sure how to extract only this array from the parent one.   • What is the best way to log a user in programatically in ExpressionEngine

    I'm building an app that allows the app to hit an ACT url which then triggers a module method to create a new entry using the ExpressionEngine API. However, as there is no user logged in / loggin in, it is not allowed to submit an entry to a channel. What is the best way to do this. Bypass the EE api and submit the entry manually, or log a user in progamatically..but then how would that work with sessions etc etc? If the answer is to "log a user in" it would be great to see a code sample if possible. Thanks!

If user name already exists, do not insert into the database and notify user to create a different name. if the username is unique and password is not null, return the username to the user. As of now it always returns "Please enter a different user name." I believe the issue has to do with the database query but I am not sure.     Is there a better way than using array-walk in combination with unserialize? I have two arrays which contain objects. The objects can be same or can be different. I want to merge both arrays and keep only unique objects. This seems to me like a very long solution for something so trivial.   • Where to start with the development of first database driven Web App (long question)?

    Hi all, I've decided to develop a database driven web app, but I'm not sure where to start. The end goal of the project is three-fold: 1) to learn new technologies and practices, 2) deliver an unsolicited demo to management that would show how information that the company stores as office documents spread across a cumbersome network folder structure can be consolidated and made easier to access and maintain and 3) show my co-workers how Test Drive Development and prototyping via class diagrams can be very useful and reduces future maintenance headaches. I think this ends up being a basic CMS to which I have generated a set of features, see below. 1) Create a database to store the site structure (organized as a tree with a 'project group'-project structure). 2) Pull the site structure from the database and display as a tree using basic front end technologies. 3) Add administrator privileges/tools for modifying the site structure. 4) Auto create required sub pages* when an admin adds a new project. 4.1) There will be several sub pages under each project and the content for each sub page is different. 5) add user privileges for assigning read and write privileges to sub pages. What I would like to do is use Test Driven Development and class diagramming as part of my process for developing this project. My problem; I'm not sure where to start. I have read on Unit Testing and UML, but never used them in practice. Also, having never worked with databases before, how to I incorporate these items into the models and test units?     I am setting values in my database for tourneyID,Selected,Paid,Entered,date then separating each selection with a colon So I have a string that may look like this 187,S,,,09-21-2013:141,S,,,06-21-2013:144,S,,,05-24-2013 but it also could look like this 145,S,,,07-12-2013:142,S,,,05-24-2013:187,S,,,09-21-2013 and some times is looks like this 87,S,,,07-11-2013:125,S,,,06-14-2013 I am trying to find this sequence: 187,S,,,09-21-2013 I have data stored like that because I paid a programmer to code it for me. Now, as I learn, I see it was not the best solution, but it is what I have till I learn more and it is working. My problem is when using LIKE it returns both the 187 and 87 values $getTeams = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM teams WHERE (team_tourney_vector LIKE '%$tid,S,P,,$tourney_start_date%' OR team_tourney_vector LIKE '%$tid,S,,,$tourney_start_date%') AND division='$division'"); I tried this using FIND_IN_SET() but it would only return the the team id for this string 187,S,,,09-21-2013:141,S,,,06-21-2013:144,S,,,05-24-2013 and does not find the team id for this string 145,S,,,07-12-2013:142,S,,,05-24-2013:187,S,,,09-21-2013 SELECT * FROM teams WHERE FIND_IN_SET('187',team_tourney_vector) AND (team_tourney_vector LIKE '%S,,,09-21-2013%') Any thoughts on how to achieve this?
