Adoption of Cloud and Windows Azure will get big attention on next year. The Windows Azure platform is a flexible cloud–computing platform that lets you focus on solving business problems and addressing customer needs. No need to invest upfront on expensive infrastructure. Pay only for what you use, scale up when you need capacity and pull it back when you don’t. We handle all the patches and maintenance — all in a secure environment with over 99.9% uptime. Silverlight 5 Silverlight is becoming a common technology for variety of development platforms. You can develop Silverlight applications for web, desktop and windows phone. The new Silverlight 5 beta will be available during the starting quarter of the next year with new capabilities and lot of new features. Silverlight 5 will be powerful development platform for both web-based business apps and rich media solutions. We can expect final version of Silverlight 5 on end of 2011. Windows Phone 7 Development Tools Mobile application development will be very hot in year 2011 and Windows Phone 7 will be one of the hottest technologies of next year. EF Code First I am a big fan of Entity Framework’s Code First approach and hope that Code First approach will attract more people onto Entity Framework 4. The Entity Framework 4 now supports three types of approaches and these will attract different types of developer audience. ASP.NET MVC 3 The ASP.NET MVC 3 will be the hottest technology of Microsoft web stack on the next year. ASP.NET developers will widely move to the ASP.NET MVC Framework from their WebForms development. The new Razor view engine is great and it will increase the adoption of ASP.NET MVC 3. Razor the will improve the productivity when working with ASP.NET MVC 3 Views. You can build great web applications using ASP.NET MVC 3 and jQuery with better maintainability, generation of clean HTML and even better performance. In my opinion, the best technology stack for web development is ASP.NET MVC 3 and Entity Framework 4 Code First as ORM. RavenDB NoSQL and Document databases will get more attention on the coming year and RavenDB will be the most notable document database in the .NET stack.   • Unknown C# keywords: params

    Often overlooked, and (some may say) unloved, is the params keyword, but it’s an awesome keyword, and one you should definitely check out. What does it do? Well, it lets you specify a single parameter that can have a variable number of arguments. You what? Best shown with an example, let’s say we write an add method: public int Add(int first, int second) { return first + second; } meh, it’s alright, does what it says on the tin, but it’s not exactly awe-inspiring… Oh noes! You need to add 3 things together??? public int Add(int first, int second, int third) { return first + second + third; } oh yes, you code master you! Overloading a-plenty! Now a fourth… Ok, this is starting to get a bit ridiculous, if only there was some way… public int Add(int first, int second, params int[] others) { return first + second + others.Sum(); } So now I can call this with any number of int arguments? – well, any number > 2..? Yes! int ret = Add(1, 2, 3); Is as valid as: int ret = Add(1, 2, 3, 4); Of course you probably won’t really need to ever do that method, so what could you use it for? How about adding strings together? What about a logging method? We all know ToString can be an expensive method to call, it might traverse every node on a class hierarchy, or may just be the name of the type… either way, we don’t really want to call it if we can avoid it, so how about a logging method like so: public void Log(LogLevel level, params object[] objs) { if(LoggingLevel < level) return; StringBuilder output = new StringBuilder(); foreach(var obj in objs) output.Append((obj == null) ? Windows are then created from that point onwards of the size you specified in your code.  If a window contains no events they are not produced by the engine to the output.  This is why window start times can be before the first event is created.

  • How to use wget with an input file and filenames

    i have a text file that contains 10,000 url's with a unique number i want to save the file as. Each line has a 10 character code, then the URL of the image to retrieve. How can I make the input file use the first 10 characters as the wget filename? this is an example of the input file: input.txt x100083590http://image.allmusic.com/13/adg/cov200/drt200/t291/t29123q8m19.jpg b200149548http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41DoH%2BAWKEL.jpg z100151855http://image.allmusic.com/13/amg/cov200/dri400/i450/i45035hxdrb.jpg p400171646http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61cH4n34IhL.jpg wget -i input.txt would get the file but not with the preceding unique number. I want t29123q8m19.jpg (the first line) to be saved as x100083590.jpg If there is a better way to write out the input file, say with the URL first, then I can do that too, but I will never know the length of the first field. Right now the first 10 characters will always be what I want to save the wget image as. Edit This is being done in a windows environment.

    Is there a way in which I can find out if a user arrived at my site via a redirect? Here's an example: There are two sites, first.com & second.com. Any request to first.com will do a 302 redirect to second.com. When the request at second.com arrives, is there anyway to know it was redirected from first.com? Note that in this example you have no control over first.com. (In fact, it could be something bad, like kiddieporn.com.) Also note, because it is a redirect, it will not be in the HTTP referrer header.

  • Basic collision direction detection on 2d objects

    I am trying to develop a platform game for Android by using ANdroid GL Engine (ANGLE). And I am having trouble with collision detection. I have two objects which is shaped as rectangular. And no change in rotation. Here is a scheme of attributes of objects. What i am trying to do is when objects collide they block each other's movement on that direction. Every object has 4 boolean (bTop, bBottom, bRight, bLeft). For example when bBottom is true object can't advance on that direction. I came up with a solution but it seems it only works on one dimensional. What that means in the long run is much debated, though, as analysts aren't sure whether pricing competition might cut into profit or what other issues might develop in the fast-emerging cloud software field. But the database leader, which is either No. 1 or 2 to SAP (SAP) in business apps overall, simply has the size and scope to overtake current cloud business-app leader, Salesforce.com (CRM), analysts say. Oracle rolled out its first full suite of cloud applications on June 6. Cloud computing lets companies store data and apps on the Internet "cloud" and access it quickly and easily. The applications run the gamut of customer relationship management software to social networking sites for employees, partners and customers. For longtime software giants like Oracle, the cloud is a big switch. They get the great bulk of revenue from companies and other enterprises buying or licensing software that the customers keep on their own computer systems. Vendors also get annual maintenance fees. Analysts estimate Oracle is taking in a mere $1 billion or so a year from cloud-based software sales and services now. But while that's just a sliver of the company's $37 billion in sales last year, it's already about a third of the total sales for Salesforce, which is expected to end this year with some $3 billion in revenue. Operates In 145 Countries Oracle operates in more than 145 countries vs. about 70 for Salesforce. And Oracle has far more apps than Salesforce. Revenue doesn't equate to profit, but it's inevitable that huge Oracle will become the largest seller of cloud applications, says Trip Chowdhry, an analyst for Global Equities Research. "What Oracle has is global presence," he said. "They have two things driving the revenue: breadth of the offering and breadth of the distribution. You put those applications in those sales reps' hands and you get deployments not in just one country but several countries." At the June 6 event, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison emphasized that his company could and would beat Salesforce.com in head-to-head battles for customers. Oracle makes software to help companies manage such tasks as customer relationships, recruiting, supply chains, projects, finances and more. That range gives it an edge over all rivals, says Michael Fauscette, an analyst for research firm IDC.

  • Installer hangs at blinking dots

    I've got a problem. I've tried booting it from a 4gb FlashDrive many times and yet, it'll just show me blinking dots. I've tried the options (booting from first drive, trying ubuntu without installing, help, test memory). I cant! I've also tried Ubuntu 11.10 but the turns out the same. Additional specs: First HDD, 2 partitions, C: and E: by Windows. Second HDD, 2 partitions, F: and G: by Windows. First HDD: 40Gb, Second HDD: 32Gb. I've made the Second HDD blank and plan to install Ubuntu there. Any help will do. I've tried both of the ISO images of both Linux Distros, but it didn't work. Both of them results to these. HELP "Registered protocol family 1", then "_", Boot from first hard drive Cannot load a ramdisk with an old kernel image.

  • PC won't boot up after installing 11.10

    I have a HP/Compaq s1010z (AMD64) desktop and installed 11.10 from a CD (using the entire disk). So it formatted the entire drive, went through installation and then it ejected the CD and asked me to click the Restart button, which I did. It rebooted fine the first time, but any time thereafter, it fails. Meaning, after the initial BIOS screen, the monitor seems to be stuck in limbo with a text cursor blinking on the top left corner, as if it can't find anything to boot from. At first I tried reinstalling (reformat entire drive again) - no improvement. Then I did an in-place re-installation (leave home dirs in place, just redo the OS), nothing there either. Then I put in the 11.04 CD, changed the boot order to CD first, and got the CD menu, chose 'Boot from first hard disk' and it booted fine. The problem is that I can't boot without the 11.04 CD, how ironic! Any ideas?

    I have two HDDs. First HDD has four partitions with Windows XP in the first partition Second has two partitions and 15GB unallocated space. I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS in the second HDD by using Unallocated space. I tried for 6 times. Each time it got installed, but after first restart, it directly boots Windows XP in the first HDD and no boot options appear. Every time I found that the Ubuntu installation used unallocated space and made two partitions one EXT3 and other Linux swap. I don't know what went wrong. During Installation, Ubuntu detected Windows XP. Can anybody help me?

  • How to embed woff fonts for iframe source pages?

    I am trying to make and embed a slideshow (of text, photo, audio, video, etc) in my site (HTML5) by loading webpages consecutively inside an iframe embedded in my first page. Most or all of the frame source pages, i.e. pages loaded inside first iframe are mine, but located in many different places. All of these pages are in an Indic language. Although I can use UTF-8 charset and lang="" declaration and that's probably enough functionally, but I also want to embed my preferred Indic unicode font in WOFF format via CSS3 @font-face rule , so the size and look of the text is uniform and the way I want it - throughout the slideshow. Problem is, there are many many pages in the slideshow all located in various places with many more linked pages, and it is next to impossible, or at least would be extremely tedious, to embed my custom WOFF font in every single page (which will also require separate css and uploading of fonts in every single instance). Besides, this may make the slideshow very heavy, sluggish and cumbersome for the user, since it will have to load the custom Indic font again and again everytime a new page is loaded in the iframe. I am not sure about this though. Is that how it works? I ask this, because I noticed that when I embedded my custom WOFF font in the 'first' page, it did not have any effect on the pages loaded inside the iframe. If I embed the font in some of the pages in the iframe, the next pages still don't get my font. Is there a way to embed my custom WOFF font only once, preferably in the first page where the first iframe is, and pass its effect on to all the pages embedded / loaded through the iframe and make their text show up as per my initially embedded woff font - without embedding my font in every single of them? Please help!

Case 3 When I Google for my site in Google Chrome and I click the first link Google will redirect me to a spam site. Case 4 When I Google for my site in FireFox and I click the first link Google will redirect me to a spam site. Case 5 When I Google for my site in Internet Explorer and I click the first link Google will redirect me a page that tells me the site is offline. HELP WHAT TO DO? I checked the .htaccess but this file is correct. I checked the index.php file but this one is also correct. What can I do? Hacked or does Google has trouble?

  • SQL Server 2008 Running trigger after Insert, Update locks original table

    Hi Folks, I have a serious performance problem. I have a database with (related to this problem), 2 tables. 1 Table contains strings with some global information. The second table contains the string stripped down to each individual word. So the string is like indexed in the second table, word by word. The validity of the data in the second table is of less important then the validity of the data in the first table. Since the first table can grow like towards 1*10^6 records and the second table having an average of like 10 words for 1 string can grow like 1*10^7 records, i use a nolock in order to read the second this leaves me free for inserting new records without locking it (Expect many reads on both tables). I have a script which keeps on adding and updating rows to the first table in a MERGE statement. On average, the data beeing merged are like 20 strings a time and the scripts runs like ones every 5 seconds. On the first table, i have a trigger which is beeing invoked on a Insert or Update, which takes the newly inserted or updated data and calls a stored procedure on it which makes sure the data is indexed in the second table. (This takes some significant time). The problem is that when having the trigger disbaled, Reading the first table happens in a few ms. However, when enabling the trigger and your in bad luck of trying to read the first table while this is beeing updated, Our webserver gives you a timeout after 10 seconds (which is way to long anyways). I can quess from this part that when running the trigger, the first table is kept (partially) in a lock untill the trigger is completed. What do you think, if i'm right, is there a easy way around this? Thanks in advance! Cheers, Koen

  • Dropdown menu disappears in IE7

    A weird problem with a dropdown menu in IE7: http://screenr.com/SNM The dropdown disappears when the mouse moves to a part that hovers above other layers. The HTML structure looks like this: <div class="header"> <ul class="nav> <li><a href="">item</a> <ul><li><a href="">sub-item</a></li></ul> </li> </ul> </div><!-- /header--> <div class="featured"></div> <div class="content"></div> The sub-menu is positioned absolutely and has visibility:hidden, then it's set to visible using jQuery, like so: $(".header ul.nav li").hover(function(){ $(this).addClass("hover"); $('ul:first',this).css('visibility', 'visible'); }, function(){ $(this).removeClass("hover"); $('ul:first',this).css('visibility', 'hidden'); }); I had a problem with the dropdown hiding under other content in IE7, fixed easily by giving the z-index to its parent and other divs: *:first-child+html .header { position: relative; z-index: 2 !important; } *:first-child+html .content, *:first-child+html .main, *:first-child+html .primary *:first-child+html .featured { position: relative; z-index: 1 !important; } Now, I have no idea why the menu disappears when hovered over other divs, you can view the site live here: http://dev.gentlecode.net/ama/ubezpieczenia.html I would love any help, been staring at this code for ages now without any solution.   • Sudden issues reading uncompressed video using opencv

    I have been using a particular pipeline to process video using opencv to encode uncompressed video (fourcc = 0), and opencv python bindings to then open and work on these files. This has been working fine for me on OpenCV 2.3.1a on Ubuntu 11.10 until just a few days ago. For some reason it currently is only allowing me to read the first frame of a given file the first time I open that file. Further frames are not read, and once I touch the file once with my program, it then cannot even read the first frame. More detail: I created the uncompressed video files as follows: out_video.open(out_vid_name, 0, // FOURCC = 0 means record raw fps, Size(640, 480)) Again, these videos worked fine for me until about a week ago. Now, when I try to open one of these I get the following message (from what I think is ffmpeg): Processing video.avi Using network protocols without global network initialization. Please use avformat_network_init(), this will become mandatory later. [avi @ 0x29251e0] parser not found for codec rawvideo, packets or times may be invalid. It reads and displays the first frame fine, but then fails to read the next frame. Then, when I try to run my code on the same video, the capture still opens with the same message as above. However, it cannot even read the very first frame. Here is the code to open the capture: self.capture = cv2.VideoCapture(filename) if not self.capture.isOpened() print "Error: could not open capture" sys.exit() Again, this part is passed without any issue, but then the break happens at: success, rgb = self.capture.read() if not success: print "error: could not read frame" return False This part breaks at the second frame on the first run of the video file, and then on the first frame on subsequent runs. I really don't know where to even begin debugging this. Please help!

Generics always confuse me, so I wrote some code to exercise the sample. Pair thePair = new Pair(new String("1"), new String("1")); // Compare a new pair to previous pair by generating a second pair. if (thePair.Equals(new Pair(new string("1"), new string("1")))) System.Console.WriteLine("Equal"); else System.Console.WriteLine("Not equal"); } } The compiler complains: "Using the generic type 'ManningListing36.Paie' requires 2 type argument(s) CS0305" What am I doing wrong ?
