  • Should I buy Obout? Help, Please.

    - by Ramiz Uddin
We started a new project and the nature of the project is very interactive and a Rich UI is required. We would need a set of controls that would require for Rich UI development. I found Obout while googling. I never heard about them and never seen fellow members telling me such name except Telerik, ComponentOne, NetAdvantage. These are the famous names we heard but no this one. But, the controls give a positive feeling. But as two things matter always when you are buying some services: How good are their customer support? and How much feasible their price is? Another, How quickly they release patches/updates? As, what if we find a bug or an error during development what will gonna happen? Do they provide a quick solution for this? I hope you understand my query. I'm bit confused making a decision here. I need your assistance, experience and feedback. Please, assist! Thanks.

  • How to build the rpm package with SHA-256 checksum for files?

    - by larrycai
In standard alone RHEL 6.4 rpm build environment, the rpm packages is generated with SHA-256 check sum, which is gotten by command rpm -qp --dump xxx.rpm [user@redhat64 abc]$ rpm -qp --dump package/rpm/abc-1.0.1-1.x86_64.rpm .. /opt/company/abc/abc/1.0.1-1/bin/start.sh 507 1398338016 d8820685b6446ee36a85cc1f7387d14537d6f8bf5ce4c5a4ccd2f70e9066c859 0100750 user abcc 0 .. • What is the most Word-like ASP.NET custom control that you can buy?

    - by rtemp
We are looking to implement a rich-text box in an ASP.NET application and our requirements are specific to using the "Track Changes" features of Microsoft Word. The closest thing we found in the RadEditor by Telerik. This is a nice control that has a "Track Changes" button and will give you the ability to track the changes from the text in the box to now. It does not let you track your changes from the two previous versions. We have used CVSWeb in the past and the display was not great but it did have the ability (in a web page) to diff two different versions of text (source code in this case). Does anyone have any experience or know of any web-based diff tools that work nicely with a rich-text editor in the web?

  • How to force the build to be out of date, when a text file is modified?

    - by demoncodemonkey
The Scenario My project has a post-build phase set up to run a batch file, which reads a text file "version.txt". The batch file uses the information in version.txt to inject the DLL with a version block using this tool. The version.txt is included in my project to make it easy to modify. It looks a bit like this: @set #Description="TankFace Utility Library" @set #FileVersion="0.1.2.0" @set #Comments="" Basically the batch file renames this file to version.bat, calls it, then renames it back to version.txt afterwards. The Problem When I modify version.txt (e.g. to increment the file version), and then press F7, the build is not seen as out-of-date, so the post-build step is not executed, so the DLL's version doesn't get updated. I really want to include the .txt file as an input to the build, but without anything actually trying to use it. If I #include the .txt file from a CPP file in the project, the compiler fails because it obviously doesn't understand what "@set" means. If I add /* ... */ comments around the @set commands, then the batch file has some syntax errors but eventually succeeds. But this is a poor solution I think. So... how would you do it?

  • Can one build a single disk RAID 1 array?

    - by Core Xii
I have an Nvidia hardware RAID 1 array and need to reformat. But I don't have any spare storage media, so I need to get along with the 2 disks in the array. I figured I'd do as follows: Delete the array, so I have 2 separate but identical disks, A and B, with my files Put disk B aside Reformat disk A, build RAID 1 array with it, install Windows XP Put disk B back in Boot to Windows on disk A, copy my files from disk B to disk A Add disk B to the RAID 1 array, rebuild array And now I'd have a new RAID 1 array, fresh install and all my files intact (the ones I copied). Here are the parts I'm unsure about: Can I build a RAID 1 array using just one disk, then add the other one later? Can Windows on disk A see disk B and allow me to copy my files over?

I have a button like this: Button donate = (Button)findViewById(R.id.donate); donate.setOnClickListener(new Button.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { // But what do I do here? :) } }); And when it is called, what do I need to do to actually go to the pay screen on android store? Thanks!

On the network we want to create a folder for each Useraccount. Also we must have add a few groups (Admin,Customer,Manager). We must be able to connect to our network via the school Wi-Fi. We want to build a safe and secure network, with an easy way to access the network. Do you have any tips on how to approach this?

  • Which data structures and algorithms book should I buy?

    - by Hei
I know C and C++ and I have some experience with Java, but I don't know too much about Algorithms and Data Structures. I did a search on Amazon, but I don't know what book should I choose. I don't want a book which put its basis only on the theoretic part; I want the practical part too (probably more than the theoretical one :) ). I don't want the code to be implemented in a certain language, but if is in Java, probably I would happier. :)

  • How to build a setup package for a desktop application using SQL CE 3.5 and Entity Framework?

    - by Emad
I am having a WPF desktop application that uses SQL CE (compact edition 3.5 ) and using the Entity Framework as a Datalayer. As It turned out in (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;958478&sd=rss&spid=2855 ) and (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlce/thread/b6bac277-cf66-4c74-a0b3-e48abedbd161/ ) There Is some problem with the Entity Framework and SQL CE and I had to get the hotfix (basically a new build of the SQL CE called 3.5.1) My problem now is how to build a setup package in order to make it work in case some users already had the SQL CE 3.5 installed on their machines? I have included the DLLs directly in the application but when the sql ce is installed, its DLLs are in the GAC and have precedence over the local ones and the application crashes. I need the build a setup that would work "even if" the user already had the old buggy version.

  • Jasper Reports - Do I need to add all libraries to my Build Path?

    - by Jonas
I want to use Jasper Reports in my Java application. I use Eclipse. I have added jasperreports-3.7.2.jar to my Build Path in Eclipse, but when compiling I get many NoClassDefFoundError-exceptions, so I have to add those libraries too to my Build Path. Do I really need to copy all jar-libraries that Jasper Reports are using to my lib-directory and then add them to my Build Path in Eclipse, or is it any easier way to solve this? The libraris I'm talking about are those in Jaspers Report's lib-directory, i.e. commons-digerster-1.7.jar, commons-logging-1.0.4.jar and so on...

  • How to inline a function for only release build.

    - by Benjamin
// common.h // This is foo funtion. It has a body. __inline void foo() { /* something */ } // a.cpp #include "common.h" // for foo function // Call foo // b.cpp #include "common.h" // for foo function // Call foo I would like to inline the foo function only when I build for release. -I dont want to inline functions for Debug build. I tried it but linker errors annoyed me. In this case, foo function's body is defined in common.h header file. so if I just do //common.h #if !defined(_DEBUG) __inline #endif void foo() { /* something */ } I will be met a link error in DEBUG build. Because two modules try to include common.h. I have no idea to solve it. Is it possible?

  • How do I move the location of an xcodeproj file without breaking external build target?

    - by petFoo
I have an Xcode project with a directory structure like this: MasterProjectDir/projectname.xcodeproj MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/whatever.c MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/etc.c MasterProjectDir/ProjectSubDir/Makefile My xcodeproj uses an external build target to point to the Makefile using these settings: Build Tool: /usr/bin/make Arguments: $(ACTION) Directory: ./ProjectSubDir For various reasons, I need to change the project directory structure to look like this: MasterProjectDir/projectname.xcodeproj MasterProjectDir/whatever.c MasterProjectDir/etc.c MasterProjectDir/Makefile I copied the .xcodeproj file into the ProjectSubDir and the project somehow still knows where to look for the files (?!?! - this is odd because their location is set as "relative to group" and I've just moved the xcodeproj file). It won't build. I get the following error: make: * No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Command /usr/bin/make failed with exit code 2 I could use a little help on this. There must be a setting I need to change somewhere.

  • Can Android Applications ( using libraries build from NDK ) be used on both x86 & ARM platform?

    - by Vibgyor
I am going to build an Android application in which I want to use a C library. So, I am planning to use NDK along with the SDK. NDK supports ARMv5, ARmv7 and x86 instruction set. Now, if I build an Android application using ARMv5 , will it run on Android phones based on Intel ( x86 ) platform (am I missing something ?)? If not, then what is the way by which I can build an ANdroid application ( which uses some C libraries underneath ) that can run on all the Android phones irrespective of the underneath platform? • Can't build and run an android test project created using "ant create test-project" when tested proj

    - by Mike
I have a module that builds an app called MyApp. I have another that builds some testcases for that app, called MyAppTests. They both build their own APKs, and they both work fine from within my IDE. I'd like to build them using ant so that I can take advantage of continuous integration. Building the app module works fine. I'm having difficulty getting the Test module to compile and run. Using Christopher's tip from a previous question, I used android create test-project -p MyAppTests -m ../MyApp -n MyAppTests to create the necessary build files to build and run my test project. This seems to work great (once I remove an unnecessary test case that it constructed for me and revert my AndroidManifest.xml to the one I was using before it got replaced by android create), but I have two problems. The first problem: The project doesn't compile because it's missing libraries. $ ant run-tests Buildfile: build.xml [setup] Project Target: Google APIs [setup] Vendor: Google Inc. I'm not sure it's the right thing to do, but I copied the missing libraries (roboguice and gson) from the MyApp/libs directory to the MyAppTests/libs directory and everything seems to compile fine. But that leads to the second problem, which I'm currently stuck on. The tests compile fine but they won't run: $ cp ../MyApp/libs/gson-r538.jar libs/ $ cp ../MyApp/libs/roboguice-1.1-SNAPSHOT.jar libs/ 0 10:23 /Users/mike/Projects/myapp/android/MyAppTests $ ant run-testsBuildfile: build.xml [setup] Project Target: Google APIs [setup] Vendor: Google Inc. • Maven Ant BuildException with maven-antrun-plugin ... unable to find javac compiler

    - by robsbobs
Im trying to make Maven call an ANT build for some legacy code. the ant build builds correctly through ant however when i call it using the maven ant plugin it fails with the following error: [ ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-antrun-plugin:1.6:run (default) on project CoreServices: An Ant BuildException has occured: The following error occurred while executing this line: [ERROR] C:\dev\projects\build\build.xml:158: The following error occurred while executing this line: [ERROR] C:\dev\projects\build\build.xml:62: The following error occurred while executing this line: [ERROR] C:\dev\projects\build\build.xml:33: The following error occurred while executing this line: [ERROR] C:\dev\projects\ods\build.xml:41: Unable to find a javac compiler; [ERROR] com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath. [ERROR] Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK. [ERROR] It is currently set to "C:\bea\jdk150_11\jre" My javac exists at C:\bea\jdk150_11\bin and this works for all other things. Im not sure where Maven is getting this version of JAVA_HOME. JAVA_HOME in windows envionrmental variables is set to C:\bea\jdk150_11\ as it should be. The Maven code that im using to call the build.xml is <build> <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-antrun-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.6</version> <executions> <execution> <phase>install</phase> <configuration> <target> <ant antfile="../build/build.xml" target="deliver" > </ant> </target> </configuration> <goals> <goal>run</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> </plugins> </build>

  • How might maven's buildNumber metadata become inconsistent across multiple build agents?

    - by Brian Laframboise
We recently added a second build machine to our build environment and began experiencing very odd occasional build failures. I have two separate Maven build machines, A and B, each running Maven 2.2.1 and communicating to a shared Nexus 1.5.0 repository manager. My problem is that builds on B will occasionally fail because it refuses to download a newer version of a common dependency 'acme-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT' previously built by A and uploaded to Nexus. Looking inside the local repositories on both machines I noticed some oddities in the repository metadata. Machine A's acme\1.0.0-SNAPSHOT\maven-metadata-nexus.xml: <metadata> <groupId>acme</groupId> <artifactId>acme</artifactId> <version>1.0.0-SNAPSHOT</version> <versioning> <snapshot> <buildNumber>1</buildNumber> </snapshot> <lastUpdated>20100525173546</lastUpdated> </versioning> </metadata> Machine B's acme\1.0.0-SNAPSHOT\maven-metadata-nexus.xml: <metadata> <groupId>acme</groupId> <artifactId>acme</artifactId> <version>1.0.0-SNAPSHOT</version> <versioning> <snapshot> <buildNumber>2</buildNumber> </snapshot> <lastUpdated>20100519232317</lastUpdated> </versioning> </metadata> In Nexus's acme/1.0.0-SNAPSHOT/maven-metadata.xml: <metadata> <groupId>acme</groupId> <artifactId>acme</artifactId> <version>1.0.0-SNAPSHOT</version> <versioning /> </metadata> If I'm interpreting the metadata files correctly (documentation online is scant), it appears machine B believes it has a newer version of the acme dependency (based on buildNumber) despite the fact that machine A last built it 6 days after machine B did (based on timestamp). Nexus also appears to be unaware of a universally correct buildNumber. How could this situation possibly arise? What could I do to prevent my builds from failing due to inconsistent metadata? Have you experienced anything similar? Important notes: Both build machines have settings.xml files where the updatePolicy is "always". Nexus does indeed have the newer version of acme that was built by A. B simply refuses to download it. A and B are the only machines uploading to Nexus. Both servers share the same system time. All processes involved have write privileges to the metadata files so that they can be updated as necessary. I was unable to find any open Maven or Nexus issues describing this behaviour. Our CI server (Atlassian Bamboo) prevents builds of the same artifact from happening concurrently, so some race condition while uploading to Nexus is rather unlikely.

  • How Many LEGO Bricks Would It Take to Build Your House?

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Curious how many bricks and how many bucks it would take to recreate your house out of LEGO bricks? LEGO My House is more than happy to do the calculations for you. Courtesy of Movoto, a real-estate search engine, the calculator takes the square footage and story count of your home and generates an estimate of how many LEGO bricks it would take to create the same space. It would appear that our dreams of building a LEGO home might need to be put on hold for awhile.
