  • Working with images (CGImage), exif data, and file icons

    - by Nick
What I am trying to do (under 10.6).... I have an image (jpeg) that includes an icon in the image file (that is you see an icon based on the image in the file, as opposed to a generic jpeg icon in file open dialogs in a program). I wish to edit the exif metadata, save it back to the image in a new file. Ideally I would like to save this back to an exact copy of the file (i.e. preserving any custom embedded icons created etc.), however, in my hands the icon is lost. My code (some bits removed for ease of reading): // set up source ref I THINK THE PROBLEM IS HERE - NOT GRABBING THE INITIAL DATA CGImageSourceRef source = CGImageSourceCreateWithURL( (CFURLRef) URL,NULL); // snag metadata NSDictionary *metadata = (NSDictionary *) CGImageSourceCopyPropertiesAtIndex(source,0,NULL); // make metadata mutable NSMutableDictionary *metadataAsMutable = [[metadata mutableCopy] autorelease]; // grab exif NSMutableDictionary *EXIFDictionary = [[[metadata objectForKey:(NSString *)kCGImagePropertyExifDictionary] mutableCopy] autorelease]; << edit exif >> // add back edited exif [metadataAsMutable setObject:EXIFDictionary forKey:(NSString *)kCGImagePropertyExifDictionary]; // get source type CFStringRef UTI = CGImageSourceGetType(source); // set up write data NSMutableData *data = [NSMutableData data]; CGImageDestinationRef destination = CGImageDestinationCreateWithData((CFMutableDataRef)data,UTI,1,NULL); //add the image plus modified metadata PROBLEM HERE? NOT ADDING THE ICON CGImageDestinationAddImageFromSource(destination,source,0, (CFDictionaryRef) metadataAsMutable); // write to data BOOL success = NO; success = CGImageDestinationFinalize(destination); // save data to disk [data writeToURL:saveURL atomically:YES]; //cleanup CFRelease(destination); CFRelease(source); I don't know if this is really a question of image handling, file handing, post-save processing (I could use sip), or me just being think (I suspect the last). • iPhone - UIViewController not rotating when device orientation changes

    - by Ryu
I have got my own custom UIViewController, which contains a UIScrollView with an UIImageView as it's subview. I would like to make the image to auto rotate when device orientation changes, but it doesn't seem to be working... In the header file, I've got; @interface MyViewController : UIViewController <UIScrollViewDelegate> { IBOutlet UIScrollView *containerView; UIImageView *imageView; } These components are initialised in the loadView function as below; containerView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://..."]]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:data]; imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; [image release]; [containerView addSubview:imageView]; And I have added the following method, assuming that's all I need to make the view auto-rotate... -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } MyViewController loads fine with the image I've specified to grab from the URL, and the shouldAutorotate... function is being called, with the correct UIInterfaceOrientation, when I flip the device too. However, didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation method do not get called, and the image doesn't seem to rotate itself... Could someone please point out what I need to add, or what I have done wrong here? Thanks in advance!

  • [three20] dynamically add Items to TTLauncher

    - by choise
Hi guys, in my app i got a TTLauncher Object with some TTLauncherItems in it. Now i want to add some Items dynamically inside my App by pressing a button. Is there a simple way to do that or do i have to create my own methods? In the original facebook application there is already something like that implemented. (You can add your Friends to the Launcher) If not, what would be the best thing to do something like that? Store all "extra items" in a plist oder even in a database and query them, each time TTLauncher object is initialized? Thanks for help :)

  • Why is my NSMutableArray returning nill?

    - by lampShade
    I have a very simple task: add the contents of a textField to an NSMutableArray.The Problem is the array is returning nill. I believe that it has something to do with the fact that the array I'm using is declared as an instance variable. /* IBOutlet NSTextField *textField; IBOutlet NSTabView *tableView; IBOutlet NSButton *button; NSMutableArray *myArray; */ #import "AppController.h" @implementation AppController -(IBAction)addNewItem:(id)sender { NSString *string = [textField stringValue]; NSLog(@"%@",string); [myArray addObject:string]; NSLog(@"%d",[myArray count]);//this outputs 0 why is that? }

  • NSTableView Drag and Drop not working

    - by macatomy
Hi, I'm trying to set up very basic drag and drop for my NSTableView. The table view has a single column (with a custom cell). The column is bound to an NSArrayController, and the array controller's content array is bound to an NSArray on my controller object. The data displays fine in the table. I connected the dataSource and delegate outlets of the table view to my controller object, and then implemented these methods: - (BOOL)tableView:(NSTableView *)aTableView writeRowsWithIndexes:(NSIndexSet *)rowIndexes toPasteboard:(NSPasteboard *)pboard { NSLog(@"dragging"); return YES; } - (NSDragOperation)tableView:(NSTableView*)tv validateDrop:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)info proposedRow:(NSInteger)row proposedDropOperation:(NSTableViewDropOperation)op { return NSDragOperationEvery; } - (BOOL)tableView:(NSTableView *)aTableView acceptDrop:(id <NSDraggingInfo>)info row:(NSInteger)row dropOperation:(NSTableViewDropOperation)operation { return YES; } I also registered the drag types in -awakeFromNib: #define MyDragType @"MyDragType" - (void)awakeFromNib { [super awakeFromNib]; [_myTable registerForDraggedTypes:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:MyDragType, nil]]; } The problem is that the -tableView:writeRowsWithIndexes:toPasteboard: method is never called. I've looked at a bunch of examples and I can't figure out anything I'm doing wrong. Could the problem be that I'm using a custom cell? Is there something I'm supposed to override in the cell subclass to enable this functionality? EDIT: Confirmed. Switching the custom cell for a regular NSTextFieldCell made dragging work. Now, how do I make drag and drop work with my custom cell?

  • Scripting Bridge generates error creating a new playlist in iTunes on 10.5, but not 10.6

    - by Simone Manganelli
    I'm having a problem with the Scripting Bridge framework in 10.5. Specifically, I use this code to create a new user playlist in iTunes: NSDictionary *propertiesDict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:@"playlistName" forKey:@"name"]; playlistToReturn = (iTunesUserPlaylist*)[[[iTunesApp classForScriptingClass:@"user playlist"] alloc] initWithProperties:propertiesDict]; SBElementArray *sourcesArray = [iTunesApp sources]; iTunesSource *librarySource = [sourcesArray objectAtIndex:0]; SBElementArray *userPlaylistsArray = [librarySource userPlaylists]; [userPlaylistsArray addObject:playlistToReturn]; This code works fine in 10.6. The playlist is created correctly, and I can add songs to it later. However, on 10.5, an error is generated: Apple event:'core'\'crel'{ 'kocl':'cUsP', 'insh':'insl'{ 'kobj':'obj '{ 'want':'cUsP', 'from':'obj '{ 'want':'cSrc', 'from':'null'(), 'form':'ID ', 'seld':42 }, 'form':'indx', 'seld':'abso'($206C6C61$) }, 'kpos':'end ' }, 'prdt':{ 'pnam':'utxt'("playlistName") } }; Error Domain=SBError Code=-10014 UserInfo=0x152c8cb0 "Operation could not be completed. (SBError error -10014.)" Why?

  • trying to draw scaled UIImage in custom view, but nothing's rendering

    - by Ben Collins
I've created a custom view class and right now just want to draw an image scaled to fit the view, given a UIImage. I tried just drawing the UIImage.CGImage, but as others have attested to on this site (and in the docs), that renders the image upside down. So, at the suggestion of an answer I found to another question, I'm trying to draw it directly, but nothing is rendering in the view and I'm not sure why. Here's my drawing code: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code [super drawRect:rect]; if (self.originalImage) { [self drawImage]; } } - (void) drawImage { if (CGSizeEqualToSize(originalImage.size, self.frame.size) == NO) { CGFloat scaleFactor = 1.0; CGFloat scaledWidth = 0.0; CGFloat scaledHeight = 0.0; CGPoint thumbPoint = CGPointMake(0.0, 0.0); CGFloat widthFactor = self.frame.size.width / originalImage.size.width; CGFloat heightFactor = self.frame.size.height / originalImage.size.height; if (widthFactor < heightFactor) { scaleFactor = widthFactor; } else { scaleFactor = heightFactor; } scaledWidth = originalImage.size.width * scaleFactor; scaledHeight = originalImage.size.height * scaleFactor; if (widthFactor < heightFactor) { thumbPoint.y = (self.frame.size.height - scaledHeight) * 0.5; } else if (widthFactor > heightFactor) { thumbPoint.x = (self.frame.size.width - scaledWidth) * 0.5; } UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(self.frame.size); CGRect thumbRect = CGRectZero; thumbRect.origin = thumbPoint; thumbRect.size.width = scaledWidth; thumbRect.size.height = scaledHeight; [originalImage drawInRect:thumbRect]; self.scaledImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); } else { self.scaledImage = originalImage; } } My understanding (after studying this a bit) is that the UIGraphicsBeginImageContext function creates an offscreen for me to draw into, so now how do I render that context on top of the original one?

  • How to encrypt the mobile configuration profiles in iOS (in OTA deployments)?

    - by user1353477
I am trying to sign and encrypt .mobileconfig profiles for iOS devices. Signing works perfectly using openssl::pkcs7 sign function in ruby, however using encrypt function, I get an encrypted data but Safari fails to install the profile saying "Invalid Profile". There are two questions in this regard: Which data from the .mobileconfig profile is actually encrypted that goes into the .. section of the EncryptedPayloadContent ? Is the data in binary format (.der) or base64 encoded? Any help in this regard would be helpful as APPLE severly lacks any documentation in encrypting the profiles.

  • Animating resizing and moving UIView at the same time

    - by chouchou
I'd like to "Stretch" a UIView to the right side, meaning increase it's frame.size.width by foo pixels and at the same time decreasing it's frame.origin.x by foo pixels, using [UIView beginAnimations] syntax. However, if I do that, when the animation begins the view immediately resizes, and then starts the animation for the origin. CGRect currFrame = someView.frame; currFrame.size.width += 100; currFrame.origin.x -= 100; [UIView beginAnimations:@"Anim1" context:nil]; someView.frame = currFrame; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.7]; [UIView commitAnimations]; I've also tried breaking the animation down to 2 parts but then I can't keep the right position in place. Any help is much appreciated!

  • Localizing concatenated or dynamic strings

    - by SooDesuNe
I'm familiar with using NSLocalizedString() to localize strings, but the problem I have today requires a little more finesse. My situation is like this: NSString *userName; //the users name, entered by the user. Does not need localized NSString *favoriteFood; //the users favorite food, also entered by user, and not needing localized NSString *summary = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@'s favorite food is %@", userName, favoriteFood]; This works fine for english, but not every language uses the same word ordering as English, for example, a word-by-word translation of the same sentance from Japanese into English would read: UserName's favorite food pizza is Not to mention that 's is doesn't make a possessive in every language. What techniques are available for localizing this type of concatenated sentence?

  • Custom TableViewCell with TextField and first responder

    - by Robb
I have a custom TableView cell that contains a TextField and I want it to become the first responder as soon as the view is shown but [textcell.textfield becomeFirstResponder] does not work. I know it's because it's a custom cell in another class and I even tried it there and it didn't work. Anyone know how to pull this off? Thanks...

  • Interface Builder error: IBXMLDecoder: The value for key is too large to fit into a 32 bit integer

    - by stdout
I'm working with Robert Payne's fork of PSMTabBarControl that works with IB 3.2 (thanks BTW Robert!): http://codaset.com/robertjpayne/psmtabbarcontrol/. The demo application works fine on 64-bit systems, but when I try to open the XIB file in Interface Builder on a 32-bit system I get: IBXMLDecoder: The value (4654500848) for key (myTrackingRectTag) is too large to fit into a 32 bit integer Building the app as 32 bit works, but then running it gives: PSMTabBarControlDemo[9073:80f] * -[NSKeyedUnarchiver decodeInt32ForKey:]: value (4654500848) for key (myTrackingRectTag) too large to fit in 32-bit integer Not sure if this is a generic IB issue that can occur when moving between 64 and 32 bit systems, or if this is a more specific issue with this code. Has anyone else run into this?

  • Dismissing UIImagePickerController from UITabBarController

    - by Dave
    I have a tab bar application whereby one tab uses a navigation controller to move through a series of views. On the final view, there is a button to add a photo, which presents a UIImagePickerController. So far, so good - however when I finish picking the image, or cancel the operation, the previous view is loaded, but without the tab bar. I'm sure I'm missing something elementary, but any suggestions on how to properly release the UIImagePickerController would be much appreciated. The code is as follows: ImagePickerViewController *aController = [[ImagePickerViewController alloc]; initWithNibName:@"ImagePickerViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self presentModalViewController:aController animated:YES]; [aController release]; //viewDidLoad self.window = [[[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]] autorelease]; imagePickerController = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePickerController.delegate = self; if([UIImagePickerController isSourceTypeAvailable: UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera]){ imagePickerController.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; } else { imagePickerController.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; } [window addSubview:imagePickerController.view]; //ImagePickerViewController imagePickerControllerDidCancel - FinalViewController is the last view in the stack controlled by a navigation controller which contains the button to present the UIImagePickerController [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; FinalViewController *aController = [[FinalViewController alloc initWithNibName:@"FinalViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [picker presentModalViewController:aController animated:YES]; [aController release];

  • iPhone – How to import/drawing UI graphic elements? CGContextDrawPDFPage?

    - by Ross
Hello, What is the best way to use the custom UI graphics on the iPhone? I've come across CGContextDrawPDFPage and Panic's Shrinkit. Should I be using storing my vector ui graphics as PDF's and loading them using CGContextDrawPDFPage to draw them. I did previously asked what way Apple store their UI graphics and was answered crushed png. The options as I see it, but I would really want to know what technique other people use. This question is for vector graphics only. Looking for what is standard / most effective / most efficient. PNG (bitmapped image) Custom UIView drawing code (generated from Opacity) PDF (I've not used this method, is it with CGContextDrawPDFPage?) Many thanks Ross

  • How to change a grouped UITableView cell's background to black (or non-white)?

    - by Meltemi
Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious... It seems like it should be trivial to set the background color (black is fine) of a UITableView's cell to something other than white or completely transparent so that you can display your data with white text. However, with my attempts I lose the corners on my grouped table view and it all looks like crap. I've seen & understand the methods described by Matt Gallagher about customizing TableView cells with exotic gradients, etc. but wanted to be certain before heading down that path...

  • PhoneGap iPad lauch screen does not fit

    - by powtac
Hi, I created an App which is compatible to iPhone and iPad. Because it is based on HTML (PhoneGap) the App itself is the same for both devices (HTML scales well!). But the launch screen image does not fill out the display on the iPad upon launch. In my Ressorces folder there is only the iPhone launch image which is to small for the iPad, how can I add an other one for the iPad?

  • Why does my NSWindow only receive mouseOver events the first time?

    - by DanieL
I have an application where a borderless window is shown and hidden, using orderOut and orderFront. When it is visible, I want the it to become the key window when the mouse moves over it. So far I've done this: In awakeFromNib I have set its first responder to itself. In the window's constructor I set accepts mouse events to YES. In the mouseMoved method, I use makeKeyAndOrderToFront. My problem is, that this only works the first time I move the mouse over the window. After that, it doesn't receive any mouseOver events. I've tried checking the firstResponder but as far as I can tell it never changes from the window. Any ideas what I can do to get this working?

  • Adding help button for each window

    - by Miraaj
Hi all, I have found that user can associate help with his application using Help Viewer. Users typically launch Help Viewer by choosing the application help item from the Help menu, or by typing a query in the Spotlight For Help text field in the Help menu. I have some different requirement: I want to associate component specific help to my application, means that there will be a small '?' marked icon at bottom left corner of a window and when user clicks it, appropriate help page will open. This case is similar to 'print' panels where there is a small '?' icon. Can anyone suggest me some way to accomplish it, if it is possible? Thanks, Miraaj

  • String munging in Objective-C with NSAttributedString.

    - by dreeves
I have an NSAttributedString s and an integer i and I'd like a function that takes s and i and returns a new NSAttributedString that has a (stringified) i prepended to s. It looks like some combination of -stringWithFormat:, -initWithString:, and -insertAttributedString: would do it but I'm having trouble piecing it together without a lot of convolution and temporary variables. More generally, pointers to guides on making sense of NSAttributedString and NSMutableAttributedString would be awesome.

  • How do I use a modalViewController Identically in Two Controllers?

    - by Theory
I'm using the Three20 TTMessageController in my app. I've figured out how to use it, adding on a bunch of other stuff (including TTMessageControllerDelegate methods and ABPeoplePickerNavigationControllerDelegate methods). It works great for me, after a bit of a struggle to figure it out. The trouble I'm having now is a design issue: I want to use it identically in two different places, including with the same delegate methods. My current approach is that I've put all the code into a single class inheriting from NSObject, called ComposerProxy, and I'm just having the two controllers that use it use the proxy, like so: ComposerProxy *proxy = [[ComposerProxy alloc] initWithController:this]; [proxy go]; The go method constructs the TTMessageController, configures it, adds it to a UINavigationController, and presents it: [self.controller presentModalViewController: navController animated: YES]; This works great, as I have all my code nicely encapsulated in ComposerProxy and I need only the above two lines anywhere I want to use it. The downside, though, is that I can't dealloc the proxy variable without getting crashes. I can't autorelease it, either: same problem. So I'm wondering if my proxy approach is a poor one. How does one normally encapsulate a bunch of behaviors like this without requiring a lot of duplicate code in the classes that use it? Do I need to add a delegate class to my ComposerProxy and make the controller responsible for dismissing the modal view controller in a hypothetical composerDidFinish method or some such? Many TIA!

  • iPhone ASIHttpRequest - can't POST variables asynchronously

    - by Eamorr
Greetings, I'm trying to simply POST data to a url using ASIHttpRequest. Here is my code: __block ASIHTTPRequest *request=[ASIHTTPRequest requestWithURL:url]; [request setPostBody:[NSMutableData dataWithData:[@"uname=Hello" dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]]]; [request setDelegate:self]; [request setCompletionBlock:^{ NSString *response=[request responseString]; UIAlertView *msg=[[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Response" message:response delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [msg show]; [msg release]; }]; [request setFailedBlock:^{ NSError *error =[request error]; }]; [request startAsynchronous]; Basically, my url is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/login.php, when I dump the PHP $_POST variable, I just get an empty array - i.e. no POST parameters are sent! The rest of the PHP is tested and working fine. I've looked through the allseeing-i.com documentation and examples and can't seem to resolve this problem. Any insight greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance,
