  • SQL Injection prevention

    - by simonsabin
Just asking people not to use a list of certain words is not prevention from SQL Injection https://homebank.sactocu.org/UA2004/faq-mfa.htm#pp6 To protect yourself from SQL Injection you have to do 1 simple thing. Do not build your SQL statements by concatenating values passed by the user into a string an executing them. If your query has to be dynamic then make sure any values passed by a user are passed as parameters and use sp_executesql in TSQL or a SqlCommand object in ADO.Net...(read more)

  • Validation Meta tag for Bing [closed]

    - by Yannis Dran
Note of the author: I did my research before posting and the old "duplicate" generated over a year ago and things have changed since then. In addition, it was generic question but mine is targeting only ONE search engine machine: BING. FAQ is not clear about how should we deal with these, "duplicate" cases. The "duplicate" can be found here: Validation Meta tags for search engines Should I remove the validation meta tag for the Bing search engine after I validate the website?

  • using lua in kobold2d to control parameters

    - by nycynik
Is there a tutorial on using LUA in Kobold2d? I want to know if its possible to use it to control the game behavior (like max speed decrease of timer, and bonus points) by uploading a new script to the app. I found this link in the FAQ: http://www.kobold2d.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=917888 but it does not mention if I can replace the lua script from within the game, and reload it, is that possible? Should i just have a parameter file instead that i can download and replace?

  • Possible to use Buddypress within an iPhone app?

    - by lostInTransit
Hi I want to create a community for my venture and also an iphone application for the same. I am thinking of using Buddypress for the community. But is it possible to use buddypress with an iPhone app? I'd like that when user posts a message via the iPhone app, it is also posted on buddypress? Or do I have to write custom scripts for editing the buddypress db according to user actions in the iPhone app? Thanks.

  • which collaborative tools do you use to communicate between team members [closed]

    - by john
I work for a small company and would like to set up some sort of a collaborative tool so that team members can share thoughts, upload documents...something like sharepoint maybe, but not that suffisticated. Only good option I've seen so far is joomla CMS. Just want to get an opinion of the community on which tools they have used for these purposes. I know this is not programming related but I thought stackoverflow community would be good to get an opinion on this.

  • Adobe Flex 4.0 vs Silverlight 4.0

    - by Jason Towne
While this not necessarily a technical question, I believe it will help a lot of developers (including myself!). With Silverlight 4.0 and Flex 4.0 both in beta, I thought I would put out an open question to the community and see what everyone likes and dislikes about each framework and why. I've worked with Flex in the past but have decided to take another look at Silverlight with the new version being released. Thoughts anyone? Edit: Made it a community wiki. :)

  • How Have You Implemented Open Source Contributions At Your Company?

    - by Travis
Ok guys, I know others have asked this question in a similar manner in the past, but I want to go beyond the theoretical and find out answers from people who have worked in an environment that relied heavily upon open source technology and never contributed anything back to the open source community, and was able to convince the boss / owner to contribute back to the open source community. I know alot of the standard answers, but I'm looking for some more practical information? What was the key argument, that changed the culture in your company, and how has it changed?

  • Where can I ask questions that aren't IT questions?

    - by Adam Davis
Thank you for your confidence in our abilities But have you read this? FAQ We get a lot of interesting technical questions on here, but Server Fault is meant to be first and foremost a resource for system administrators and IT professionals. In other words, Server Fault isn't meant to cater to every computer problem - just those that only exist in or can best be solved in the IT and sysadmin domain Yes, someone here might be able to help you, but you'll find that other forums more focused on your topic can give you a much better answer than a bunch of IT professionals. It's likely that your question will be downvoted, closed, and in some cases marked "offensive." It's not that we hate you, it's just that we like to keep our corn pops separate from our cocoa puffs. • CopSSH SFTP -- limit users access to their home directory only

    - by bradvido
Let me preface this by saying I've read and followed these instructions at the FAQ many times: http://www.itefix.no/i2/node/37 It does not do what the title claims... It allows every user access to every other user's home directory, as well as access to all subfolders below the copssh installation path. I'm only using this for SFTP access and I need my users to be sandboxed into only their home directory. If you know a fool-proof way to lock users down so they can see only their home directory and its subfolders, stop reading now and reply with the solution. The details: Here is exactly what i tried as I followed the FAQ. My copSSH installation directory is: C:\Program Files\CopSSH net localgroup sftp_users /ADD **Create a user group to hold all my SFTP users cacls c:\ /c /e /t /d sftp_users **For that group, deny access at the top level and all levels below cacls "C:\Program Files\CopSSH" /c /e /t /r sftp_users **Allow my user group access to the copSSH installation directory and its subdirectories For each sftp user, I create a new windows user account, then I: net localgroup sftp_users sftp_user_1 /add **Add my user to the group I've created Open the activate user wizard for CopSSH, choosing the user, "/bin/sftponly" and Remove copssh home directory if it exists **Remains checked Create keys for public key authentication **Remains checked Create link to user's real home directory **Remains checked This works, however, every user has access to every other user's home directory as well as the CopSSH root directory.... So I tried denying access for all users to the user home directory: cacls "C:\Program Files\CopSSH\home" /c /e /t /d sftp_users **Deny access for users to the user home directory Then I tried adding permissions on a user-by-user basis for each users home\username folder. However, these permission were not allowed by windows because of the above deny rule i created at the home directory was being inherited and over-riding my allow rule. The next step for me would be to remove the deny rule at the home directory and for each user folder, add a deny rule for every user it doesn't belong to, and add an allow rule for the one user it does belong to. However, as my user list gets long, this will become very cumbersome. Thanks for the help!
