    I have a class called Level, which is a subclass of NSObject. Then I have a class called Level_1_1 which is a subclass of Level. Is it allowed to type like Level* aLevel = [Level_1_1 alloc]; instead of Level_1_1* theLevel = [Level_1_1 alloc]; ? :) I try it and I don't get any warnings, just wondering if it's okay to do?

    Hi All I have tried using several different parsers as advised by somebody but i don't believe that they'd be of any use for this particular situation.     I really hate asking about anything retarded as Facebook Connect on SO, but their own development forums are horrendous. We're implementing a Facebook share button using this: <fb:share-button class="url" href="http://oursite.com/"></fb:shared-button> This is documented(poorly) here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Fb:share-button I need to be able to change the text from "Share" to something else.     Other team has one legacy system, which is data aggregators. It is implemented as web service using JAVA, SOAP,MTOM,Tomcat and Axis2. They have wsdl files defining functionalities such as search, retrieve data, upload, download. Our team has a new developed website which is developed using RoR with mySQL. It is sort of social networking. Users can register, add friends, upload images, videos. Also, they can search data. We are required to connect the two systems. One possible solution I think is - Adding components into our website. The component invoke services on the aggregators. - Synchronize website database to the aggregators. My doubts are: 1. How to add components in our websites? The components should use Java or Ruby or adapter from java to ruby. It is possible using ruby invoke web service. I think it should work since it is the point of web service. If so, can ruby call those services in wsdl directly? But how to deal with those different data structure? How to synchroinze our database to the aggregators. I think the best way is also through web service invocation such as upload. That means, we have to export the db records into xml files and then write some tools to upload. The web service project support MTOM. So, it is fine to upload huge data. Am I on the right record? Can anybody give me some hint. Thanks.

Now those keywords are shown on every of my 600+ pages as base-keywords, and then I append page specific keywords after them. Is this right or wrong?     Hi all I am trying to build a PHP class to check the username and password in MySql. I am getting "mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in D:\2010Portfolio\football\main.php on line 38" database has errors:" message. When I move my userQuery code out of my Class, it works fine. Only if it is inside my Class. I am not sure if the problem is that I don't build the connection to mysql inside my Class or not.     I'm using Papeclip(2.3.1.1) with Rails(2.3.5). In my view I write so: <%= link_to image_tag(p.attachment.url(:small)), p.attachment.url(:original) %, and it becomes into href="/system/attachments/1/original/1.JPG?1270134617 (for a tag) src="/system/attachments/1/small/1.JPG?1270134617" (for img tag). And when I click on the picture, my browser (Firefox) offers me to save or open picture and I want to just open picture in browser without any dialogs. I think it's because link contains ?1270134617 after file's name. How can I fix it?

    Hi all, I am developing a small web app that uses jquery quite a lot. In my app a user can hover an image, which becomes bigger after a few seconds, giving him more details. The problem is that when the image enlarges the image, it takes over the area of the nearby images as well. Now, if the user goes over the second red square (numbered as 2) I would like the currently enlarged image to disappear and instead enlarge the image pictured below as square two. I am not much of a painter, but I have attached a small image to help illustrate the problem. In short, How can I tell jquery to detect when the mouse is over red square number two, yet not raising the event if the mouse is over green square. [in my demo picture, hovering on point]

  • Question about the benefit of using an ORM

    I want to use an ORM for learning purposes and am try nhibernate. I am using the tutorial and then I have a real project. I can go the "old way" or use an ORM. I'm not sure I totally understand the benefit. On the one hand I can create my abstractions in code such that I can change my databases and be database independent. On the other it seems that if I actually change the database columns I have to change all my code. Why wouldn't I have my application without the ORM, change my database and change my code, instead of changing my database, orm, and code? Is it that they database structure doesn't change that much? I believe there are real benefits because ORMs are used by so many. I'm just not sure I get it yet. Thank you. EDIT: In the tutorial they have many files that are used to make the ORM work http://www.hibernate.org/362.html In the event of an application change, it seems like a lot of extra work just to say that I have "proper" abstraction layers. Because I'm new at it it doesn't look that easy to maintain and again seems like extra work, not less.

    This is my assembly program which is just a function to swap *x *y. So first argument from main is address of x which is in 8(%ebp) and second one is address of y is in 12(%ebp). The program does swap x and y. I need 7 lines for doing this. can you make it 6 lines and there is a condition you can use only %eax, %ecx, and %edx 3 registers. I think about it so much, but I can't make it 6 lines. There must be a way, isn't it?     Would it be possible to do something like the following in c#? Basically TParent and TChildren should be types of the class A but not necessairly have the same types that were passed in. I know this may sound confusing but I want to strongly type the children and parents of a particular object, but at the same time they must be of the same type. Because TParent inherits from A this would imply that it requires type parameters that inherit from A but using potentially different types. public class A<TParent, TChildren> where TParent : A where TControls : A { TParent Parent; List<TChildren> Children; } or more easily seen here: public class A<TParent, TChildren> where TParent : A<?, ?> where TChildren : A<?, ?> { TParent Parent; List<TChildren> Children; } I hope this isn't too confusing. I've used the same code that is shown in the TestHelper samples to set up the TestControllerBuilder _controller = new StarsController(); _builder = new TestControllerBuilder(); _builder.InitializeController(_controller); So that _controller has all the faked/mocked HttpContext inside it, which is really great. But what do I do now to force IsAjaxRequest() on the internally faked Request object to return true?

  • Question about Content Delivery Networks CDN

    I've built a javascript code that my clients will be installing on their website and they will be calling a file from my server. I'm wondering if it would be better to host the javascript file on a CDN, instead of on my server? The benefits would be better response time and a much higher chance that it will always be available. However, In the future, if the CDN was acquired or went out of business I would have a number of clients linking to a file that doesn't exist. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
