• What's the best way to convert a .eps (CMYK) to a .jpg (RGB) with Image Magick

  Hi All, I have a bunch of .eps files (CMYK) that I need to convert to .jpg (RGB) files. The following command sometimes gives me under or over saturated .jpg images, when compared to the source EPS file: $cmd = "convert -density 300 -quality 100% -colorspace RGB ".$epsURL." -flatten -strip ".$convertedURL; Is there a smarter way to do this such that the converted image will have the same qualities as the source EPS file? • Flex datagrid - determining when grid has completed renderering?

  hi, i have a datagrid which contains a number of itemrenderers, it is populated each time a user does a search. Is there an event which can tell me when the datagrid has completed rendering all new rows and item renderers? I need to trigger an event once everything has been created so that i can resize then container which holds the grid. Currently im using DataGridEvent.HEADER_RELEASE and CollectionEvent.COLLECTION_CHANGE events to manage this however the problem with these events is that they get called as each new row is being added to the datagrid. therefore the whole process is becoming sluggish. Does anyone have any suggestions?

• ASP.NET - Themes and Relative Referencing

  Hello, I have an ASP.NET application that uses themes. Let's pretend I have a theme named "MySkin". I have a page that is in a sub-directory of my application. When I reference a page that uses "MySkin", I noticed that ASP.NET renders a link element that walks up to the root of the site and then down into the App_Themes directory. Here is an example link element I found in a rendered ASP.NET page: <link href="../../App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is there a reason that the rendered link element does not use the following instead: <link href="/App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is this a browser compatibility issue or is there another reason? The reason I am asking is because I am rendering my ASP.NET page using Server.Execute and storing the result in a different directory. Because of this, I would prefer to use the second way to reference my theme's css. Thank you!

• OpenGL: Textured Primitives + High Framerate

  Short version: What's the best practice going forward for efficiently rendering large numbers of independent texture-mapped, lighted 2D/3D primitives (circles, rects, etc.) in OpenGL? For example: a typical particle system using billboarded quads/triangles, point sprites, or whatever other technique, with blending. Because after reading this thread on the messiness of OpenGL versioning/deprecation I'm starting to have my doubts. My specific question is not the ABCs of displaying primitives in OpenGL, but rather how to do so efficiently in post-deprecation (or pre-deprecation) OpenGL, in a way that's going to be compatible with a wide range of commodity hardware and in a way that's not going to break or itself get deprecated, five years down the line. • Attributed strings in UITableViewCells without WebView?

  Hello, does anyone know if there's a way in with 3.0+ to display attributed strings within a UITableViewCell without using a UIWebView for that? I need to display a string with linked, tappable substrings as the typical detailTextLabel. I wouldn't mind exchanging this UILabel against another type of view, but I think a UIWebView could be just too slow when rendering a table with hundrets of cells. Or does someone have opposite experiences here? So my question is: what's the best way to achieve mixed strings in a very large table without a great performance hit? I searched for this almost a whole day now, but I can only find old posts mentioning that there's no attributed string on the iPhone (outdated, as this was pre-3.0) and/or saying that they use a UIWebView for that. But really, I don't think this would perform very well on large tables, would it? Many, many thanks in advance Arne

• Django admin output extra HTML in ModelSite

  Ultimately, I want to add an <iframe> to the display of a particular model on Django's admin page. Django is already rendering the form for this model correctly, but I want to add this <iframe> in addition to Django's form. The src attribute needs to involve the primary key for the currently-displayed record. I've learned how to properly override the change_form.html template through Django's documentation, and I can add markup to the right block, but I can't figure out how to access the primary key value. (No amount of determined Googling has helped at all.) Alternatively, is there a direct way to specify that I want to produce extra output in my ModelSite definition?

• Is there a decent vector / spline library for php?

  Does anyone know of the best way to render clean vectors into a php image and then serve it as a jpeg/png? Specifically I want to draw lines, polygons and splines which are anti-aliased and then serve them up as jpegs. Preferably also with an alpha option when rendering. What would be spectacular is a php library with a similar API to Raphael (without the animation) - not only because Raphael has a great API but also because I'm already using it on my website for the dynamic bits but also need to bake jpeg's in parallel for static consumption.

Or will the iframe request get processed concurrently while rest of the document is downloaded and rendered?

• FOP Encoding issue

  Hi Guys, I have a similar issue.. I have HTML stored in DB clob. I am retrieving that and converting to XHTML using TIDY.jar. Once i got XHTML then using FOP i am converting to XSL-FO. Finally XSL-FO is rendering in PDF. Previously everything is working fine with Linux-WAS5-java1.4. Recently we migrated the apps to Linux-WAS6-Java1.5. Now XHTML to XSL-FO is messing up everything. XSL-FO contains ???(Question marks) in the place of Euro, spase(nbsp), Agrave, egrave ..etc. I tried changing the JVM encoding to UTF-8 and also i have modified my servlet request and response to support UTF-8. I am helfless and unable to figure where exactly the issue is coming out. Can someone please check this and suggest me some solution. Thanks in advance

• Loading textures in an Android OpenGL ES App.

  I was wondering if anyone could advise on a good pattern for loading textures in an Android Java & OpenGL ES app. My first concern is determining how many texture names to allocate and how I can efficiently go about doing this prior to rendering my vertices. My second concern is in loading the textures, I have to infer the texture to be loaded based on my game data. This means I'll be playing around with strings, which I understand is something I really shouldn't be doing in my GL thread. Overall I understand what's happening when loading textures, I just want to get the best lifecycle out of it. Are there any other things I should be considering?

• WPF: Turning off animations, data binding temporarly for invisible objects?;)

  I have a window that contains a tab control - basically multiple sheets with visualizations on them. The visualtizations are: possible very resource intensive during rendering relying on constant data updates to update their underlying models Obviously only one sheet can be visible every time ;) Anyone knows of a good way to turn off all visualization, animations, data binding for a control / panel and it's contained controls? If I would find a way to do that, I could simply turn off all the invisible sheets and reactivate them as needed. The models must be kept running - some of the visual stuff is pretty complex and really relies on constant data updates, and recalculating it when someone switches tabs would be too hard.

• Workaround for Outlook 2007 for wrapping text around image with margin?

  As we all know, Outlook 2007 uses the Word 2007 rendering engine, causing endless grief when designing HTML email message. [Insert rant here] In particular, float, margin, and padding are - shall we say? - poorly supported. To simulate float so that text wraps around an image, apparently we can simply use: <img src="foo.png" align="right"> The issue is padding/margin. Without padding/margin, the wrapped text butts up against the image which looks goofy. One workaround is to edit the image and add transparent framing that simulates margin. Does anyone know any other workarounds?

• IHTMLTxtRange.execCommand("Copy",false,null) fails due to IE settings

  We have a .Net application that is used for editing/rendering customized HTML documents. It is hosted in IE using the AxSHDocVw.AxWebBrowser controls. We proceed with navigating to "about:blank" page initially then we change the Document by writing our custom values into it. The problem we are facing is the call to IHTMLTxtRange.execCommand("Copy",false,null) is failing if we don't enable the IE Security Settings in the Internet Security zone (Scripting-Allow Programmatic Access to Clipboard ). In order to bypass the security setting ,I tried to point to a local html file initially while navigating. But this fails as soon as I modify the Document. I want to use the IHTMLTxtRange.execCommand("Copy",false,null) command so that I can customize our Copy/Paste operations. Is there any other way I can do this. Please share your ideas inorder to overcome this situation. Thanks. Sriram

• ValidatorEnable is not defined when rolled with AJAX

  I have some webforms which have been working fine with various static and dynamically generated validators. For some reason now that I have implemented UpdatePanels on the forms, when I manually call the ValidatorEnable() method on one of them (when I click a checkbox) I get the "ValidatorEnable is not defined" error message. I am passing the same clientID etc into the method that I was using before I implemented the AJAX.net controls It would seem .net isnt rendering the /WebResource.axd?d=aUu4P3dfjWWyw3KQ9t2ZdqxnzYhrtq9uWWiRZduXE-g1 script to the page, adding it manually I get other missing JS objects. So how can I force it to register the relevant scripts? N.B. The validators in question are being rendered in a repeater

• How do I add Polylines in gmaps4rails v2

  I upgraded to the latest version of gmaps4rails (v2) and am having some issues getting polylines drawing. I can get markers working with the sample code on the wiki, but if I change the addMarkers to addPolylines, nothing renders in the map. • ASP.NET: CSS friendly calendar control

  I'm using the built-in Calendar control. It works, but in a few places the way the HTML is rendered is broken or not CSS-friendly and unfortunately cannot be changed (it's hard coded). I was hoping they would fix this in .NET 4.0, but as far as I can tell the Calendar control hasn't been changed at all. Also, as far as I know, there's no CSS adapter for the Calendar control. So, I would need a control that would: Allow me to customize the content of each cell (like OnDayRender works) Allow me to assign CSS classes to any HTML it may render Not render anything automatically that cannot be turned off, except layout code No auto-postback or auto-JS code (I can handle these by hand using simple links or custom JS calls) Basically a simple calendar view control that would give me full rendering control. Should I be keeping the variables around after I call glDrawArrays?

• Font-face, Raphael and IE8

  I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael). • Which jsPerf-test should I consider as standard for checking the performance of javascript template-engines

  I am on a search for a javascript template engine that has good performance when used in large js applications and is also very suitable for mobile applications. So I have gone through the various jsPerf-tests for these. There seems to be a lot which show different results and it is confusing to find out which is the standard test. Can some one guide me a standard jsPerf that I can refer to and that should also include following templates dust, underscore, hogan, mustache, handlebars. From what I have observed dot.js is a constant performer with good rendering speed, but is it mature enough for larger applications ? What is this "with" and "no with" that is shown in the jspref tests? Can some one explain. In all the tests I have seen popular templates like mustache, handlebars, dust, hogan,etc seems to be behind performance than other templates, so why people are using them leaving out the top performers,is it because of maturity of these template engines? • How to tile a UIWebView?

I tried to find some info in Google but it seems that there are no examples or technical info about this subject. I am doing some test with CATiledLayer class without luck...   I started getting into reading design blogs a little while ago, and it seemed that @font-face got really popular sometime late last year, or something like that, because I was under the impression that it was a new emerging feature of the web. But then I saw that Internet Explorer has had it since IE4 (with some conversion). So is it common to see @font-face online nowadays? Sould I have anything in mind with respect to accessibility, legality, or rendering before I do something like this? I saw that Hulu.com renders fonts with Canvas and a javascript called "cufon."

• require_owner code to limit controller actions not recognizing current user as owner

  I am trying to restrict access to certain actions using a before_filter which seems easy enough. Somehow the ApplicationController is not recognizing that the current_user is the owner of the user edit action. When I take the filter off the controller correctly routes the current_user to their edit view information. Here is the code. • jQuery Validation 1.10 and MVC server-side errors

  This feature used to work just fine on my website. If I added a custom error to ModelState, the input on the page would be marked as "input-validation-error" and the Html.ValidationMessage() would take care of rendering a span with the error message inside it. Due to incompatibility reasons we had to upgrade our jQuery Validation to 1.10: Now when I add a custom error to ModelState, I can debug and see that the HTML elements being rendered correctly, but as soon as the page load is completed, jQuery Validation removes the error message and set the "class" attribute of the input to "valid"! Has any one else come across this issue? UPDATE Testing further shows that the error message is shown on the screen until the field gains focus. As soon as the field gains focus jQuery Validation removes the customer server-side error message and marks the field as good.

• Cocoa Touch: Why doesn't UINavigationController render 'Back' button?

  When I push a view controller it animates properly and slides in, the only problem is that no 'Back' button is rendered up top.The back button is still there, I can still tap it, it just doesn't render on the screen. This behavior is identical in both the simulator and on multiple devices. Is this a known issue or bug? Using 3.1.3 of the iPhone SDK. More information: It renders it for further levels, just not on the second level of nav controller. So Main Page (No back button - OK). Second level page (back button, but doesn't render - not OK). Third level page (Back button there and rendering - OK).
