  • Capture node.js crash reason

    I have a script written in node.js, it uses 'net' library and communicates with distant service over tcp. This script is started using 'node script.js log.txt' command and everything in that script that is logged using console.log() function gets written to log.txt but sometimes script dies and I cannot find a reason and nothing gets logged in log.txt around the time script crashed. How can I capture crash reason?

    I need to write a daemon that supposed to have one TCP socket and one named pipe. Usually if I need to implement a multi IO server with "pure" sockets, the select based multi-IO model is always the one I will choose. so does anyone of you have ever used named pipe in select or you can just tell me it is impossible. thanks in advance.

    Hi, Is it possible to hold an open TCP connection with a client, while the IP address of the client is externally changed? For example, the connection is establishes against address X, but somewhen while the connection is open, the client-side user asks for IP renew and gets another IP address.     Hi all, I don't know how CookieHandler works system wide, I did view the source of CookieHandler but found no more information except the get/set methods. Where do TCP/HTTP connections use instance of CookieHandler, which I set by CookieHandler.setDefault(...) Which source file I should refer to?     I'm developing an app in which i need the TCP connection to stay alive. I've implemented a kind of ping/pong system to do this. It works perfectly when the screen is on, but when it goes of the phone stops responding to the pings after a while. I've created a Wi-Fi wake lock but i'm still experiencing still the same problem..     The idea is to have a windows service, that clients can connect to (tcp, wcf, remoting), and when the data changes in the windows service, send the changes to the clients. An example of this would be a stock pricing server, and when the price changes for instruments, send the changes to the client. Wcf does have streaming, but is that just for streaming one big message response or can it be used for lots of small messages ? Is sockets the only way to achieve this ?

    Is there a way to only close "one end" of a TCP socket to cleanly indicate one side of a connection is done writing to the connection? (Just like you do with a pipe in every Unix pipe tutorial ever.) Or should I use some in-band solution like a sentinel value or some such? I only found shutdown() in the libc documentation and that doesn't seem like it does what I want.

    Hello. I'm working with Microchip's TCP/IP stack and the host name of my device is not being broadcasted, although I can access it using its DHCP assigned IP. So the question is, what is the protocol that a network device uses to broadcast its host name, so that when I see a list of devices in a network I can identify it by name?
