  • Is there a way to group 2 or 3 gui windows so that they don't get lost behind other open windows?

    For instance floating panels and main window in Gimp are independent windows. If I change focus to a full window (e.g. Firefox by doing Alt-Shift) and go back to the main Gimp window I don't get back the floating panels also (I have to change to them as well in order to see them). It would be great if the 3 windows can be "tied" (or linked) together in order that they don't get lost behind other open windows when I change back to (make active window) any of them? I think this configuration (if it exists) should show itself more obviously in the gnome environment. This question seems to address the same problem but it doesn't seem to be accurately answered.

    I would like to export a 3D model with each part having a name or a label if you will. For example i would like to export a model of an human body and name each part in specifics vertex groups like: left hand, right hand, right foot, head, ears, ... and you got the idea; so i can have a single 3D model that i can explode in various parts if needed. If there is a better technique about how to mark vertex groups in a 3D file please share your solution. As 3D editor i use Blender.

  • Best way to determine surface normal for a group of pixels?

    One of my current endeavors is creating a 2D destructible terrain engine for iOS Cocos2D (See https://github.com/crebstar/PWNDestructibleTerrain ). It is in an infant stages no doubt, but I have made significant progress since starting a couple weeks ago. However, I have run into a bit of a performance road block with calculating surface normals. Note: For my destructible terrain engine, an alpha of 0 is considered to not be solid ground. The method posted below works just great given small rectangles, such as n < 30. Anything above 30 causes a dip in the frame rate. If you approach 100x100 then you might as well read a book while the sprite attempts to traverse the terrain. I considered doing a cache of all surface normals, but this lead to issues of knowing when to recalculate the surface normals and these calculations also being quite expensive (also how large should the blocks be?). Another smaller issue is I don't know how to properly treat the case when length is = 0. So I am stuck... Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated! Is my method the best possible one? Or should I rethink the algorithm? I am new to game development and always looking to learn new tips and tricks.

  • How to rotate a group of objects around a common center?

    I've made a model in 3D Studio Max 9. It consists of a variety of cubes, clyinders etc. In XNA I've imported the model okay and it shows correctly. However, when I apply rotation, each component in the model rotates around it's own centre. I want the model to rotate as a single unit. Translating the object also causes the objects to get moved independently of each other rather than as a single model and each piece becomes spread around the scene. The model is in .X format.

We have much higher expectations from CDI 2 (projected to be included in Java EE 8) under the new leadership of Antoine Sabot-Durand. Much like we conducted the Java EE 8 survey to solidify future direction for the platform, CDI 2 is now undergoing the same effort. Towards this goal the CDI 2 leadership is now soliciting feedback on some very specific items via an open survey.   • Need to Remove Exchange 2003 Server That Crashed During Transition to 2010

    As the title stated, we were running an Exchange 2003 server that we knew was going down soon so we purchased a second server and installed Exchange 2010 into the AD. We managed to move all of the mailboxes off of 2003 and also managed to get the Offline Address Book setup on 2010. At this point the 2003 server bit the dust and will no longer boot. Therefore we were unable to properly uninstall Exchange and remove the last 2003 server so it still exists in AD. As far as the clients are concerned, everything is working properly. However, when I run the Microsoft Exchange Profile Analyzer, I still see the old server and its Administrative Group. I am going to guess that since the old server is showing up in AD, I will not be able to raise Exchange or AD functionality (as the 2003 server was also the only AD DC) levels. I have forced the 2003 DC out of AD so that is no longer an issue. Old Setup: Windows 2003 Server Enterprise & Exchange 2003 Standard New Setup: Windows 2010 Server Enterprise & Exchange 2010 Standard Two Questions: How do you go about manually forcing the 2003 server and its administrative group out of AD? When that is finished, where do you raise the Exchange mode (can't find this for the life of me)?

  • Creating Active Directory on an EC2 box

    So I have Active Directory set up on a Windows Server 2008 Amazon EC2 server. Its set up correctly I think, I never got any errors with it. Just to test that I got it all set up correctly, I have a Windows 7 Professional virtual machine set up on my network to join to AD. I set the VM to use the Active Directory box as its DNS server. I type in my domain to join it, but I get the following error: DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain "ad.win.chigs.me": The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.ad.win.chigs.me The following domain controllers were identified by the query: ip-0af92ac4.ad.win.chigs.me However no domain controllers could be contacted. Common causes of this error include: - Host (A) or (AAAA) records that map the names of the domain controllers to their IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses. - Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running. It seems that I can talk to Active Directory, but when I'm trying to contact the Domain Controller, its giving a private IP to connect to, at least thats what I can make out of it.   • One email user keeps disconnecting from our exchange server

    I have one user who keeps reporting that Outlook keeps disconnecting from our email server. All other users are fine. Our email server is running Exchange 2010 and the client is running Outlook 2003. The disconnection only lasts a moment. I have checked for logs on the client and Exchange server and can not see any reason for the disconnect, On the Client I get EventId 26 telling me Outlook has disconnected and reconnected but no reason why. Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to try and track down where the problem could be? --Update-- I have found the following log file C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access which suggests that it is a problem with RPC sessions.     If I have a cube divided into 8 smaller cubes, each of which may be subdivided into a further 8 cubes, ad infinitum, what is the name of my system? I know that it's a special case of a tree, where each brance contains exactly 8 other leaves/branches. I remember the name starting with "Oct", and there was a wikipedia article on it, but I honestly can't find it! Does anyone know what such a data structure is actually known as?

  • How do I use long names to refer to Group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA)?

    Commonly domain user accounts are used as service accounts. With domain user accounts, the username can easily be as long as 64 characters as long as the User Principal Name (UPN) is used to refer to the account, eg [email protected]. If you still use the legacy pre-Windows 2000 names (SAM) you have to truncate it to ~20 characters, eg mydomain\truncname. When using the New-ADServiceAccount PowerShell cmdlet to create a new Group Managed Service Account (gMSA) and a name longer than 15 characters is specified, an error is returned. To specify a longer name, the SAM name must be specified separately, eg: New-ADServiceAccount -Name longname -SamAccountName truncname ... To configure a service to run as the new gMSA, I can use the legacy username format mydomain\truncname$ but using usernames with a maximum of 15 characters in 2013 is a smell. How do I refer to a gMSA using the UPN-style format instead? I tried the longname$@domainfqdn approach but that didn't work. It also seems that the gMSA object in AD doesn't have a userPrincipalName attribute value specified.

    Hello, guys, I need to get and filter the linux users list like: username1 username1_group username2 username2_group ... usernameN usernameN_group I've tried, but only that I've found is: cat /etc/passwd | grep /home | cut -d: -f1 It gives me the list of users in /home folder. But how can I add the group name to each of them? Thanks in advance!
