• Something is making my page perform an Ajax call multiple times... [read: I've never been more frust

  NOTE: This is a long question. I've explained all the 'basics' at the top and then there's some further (optional) information for if you need it. Hi folks Basically last night this started happening at about 9PM whilst I was trying to restructure my code to make it a bit nicer for the designer to add a few bits to. I tried to fix it until 2AM at which point I gave up. Came back to it this morning, still baffled. I'll be honest with you, I'm a pretty bad Javascript developer. Since starting this project Javascript has been completely new to me and I've just learn as I went along. So please forgive me if my code structure is really bad (perhaps give a couple of pointers on how to improve it?). So, to the problem: to reproduce it, visit http://furnace.howcode.com (it's far from complete). This problem is a little confusing but I'd really appreciate the help. So in the second column you'll see three tabs The 'Newest' tab is selected by default. Scroll to the bottom, and 3 further results should be dynamically fetched via Ajax. Now click on the 'Top Rated' tab. You'll see all the results, but ordered by rating Scroll to the bottom of 'Top Rated'. You'll see SIX results returned. This is where it goes wrong. Only a further three should be returned (there are 18 entries in total). If you're observant you'll notice two 'blocks' of 3 returned. The first 'block' is the second page of results from the 'Newest' tab. The second block is what I just want returned. Did that make any sense? Never mind! So basically I checked this out in Firebug. What happens is, from a 'Clean' page (first load, nothing done) it calls ONE POST request to http://furnace.howcode.com/code/loadmore . But every time you load a new one of the tabs, it makes an ADDITIONAL POST request each time where there should normally only be ONE. So, can you help me? I'd really appreciate it! At this point you could start independent investigation or read on for a little further (optional) information. Thanks! Jack Further Info (may be irrelevant but here for reference): It's almost like there's some Javascript code or something being left behind that duplicates it each time. I thought it might be this code that I use to detect when the browser is scrolled to the bottom: var col = $('#col2'); col.scroll(function(){ if (col.outerHeight() == (col.get(0).scrollHeight - col.scrollTop())) loadMore(1); }); So what I thought was that code was left behind, and so every time you scroll #col2 (which contains different data for each tab) it detected that and added it for #newest as well. So, I made each tab click give #col2 a dynamic class - either .newestcol, .featuredcol, or .topratedcol. And then I changed the var col=$('.newestcol');dynamically so it would only detect it individually for each tab (makin' any sense?!). But hey, that didn't do anything. • Can't seem to get C TCP Server-Client Communications Right

  Ok i need some serious help here. I have to make a TCP Server Client. When the Client connects to server using a three stage handshake. AFterwards... while the Client is running in the terminal, the user enters linux shell commands like xinput list, ls -1, ect... something that uses standard output. The server accepts the commands and uses system() (in a fork() in an infinite loop) to run the commands and the standard output is redirected to the client, where the client prints out each line. Afterward the server sends a completion signal of "\377\n". In which the client goes back to the command prompt asking for a new command and closes its connection and exit()'s when inputting "quit". I know that you have to dup2() both the STDOUT_FILENO and STDERR_FILENO to the clients file descriptor {dup2(client_FD, STDOUT_FILENO). Everything works accept when it comes for the client to retrieve system()'s stdout and printing it out... all i get is a blank line with a blinking cursor (client waiting on stdin). I tried all kinds of different routes with no avail... • XP, how can I copy permissions from one partition to another, had no permssions and getting access denied trying to fix ?

  For some reason, I'm not sure why, I have no permissions in the security tab/advanced tab for one partition. I'm trying to add them back by copying them manually from another partition. However when I try to replace permissions entries on some files it says access denied, then I have to click continue. I haven't much clue what this is all about, but I'd like to fix this as some folders in my partition aren't accessible in shares from other machines.

  I get this two Exchange 2010 Global Address book related event IDs: Event ID 9331 MSExchangeSA OABGen encountered error 80004005 (internal ID 50101f1) accessing the public folder database while generating the offline address list for address list '/'. -\Default Offline Address List and Event ID 9335 MSExchangeSA OABGen encountered error 80004005 while cleaning the offline address list public folders under /o=xxxxx xxxx/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List. Please make sure the public folder database is mounted and replicas exist of the offline address list folders. No offline address lists have been generated. Please check the event log for more information. -\Default Offline Address List It is Exchange 2010 SP2 sitting on Windows 2008 enterprise edition. Essentially the issue is that the global address book is not being updated on Outlook clients. We are using Outlook 2007 and 2010. So far I have tried running the following command: Update-FileDistributionService -Identity ExchangeServer -Type "OAB" And I tried this solution as well: 1) Make sure the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant is running. It will be set to start automatically by default, but it doesn't. This is a known issue. Start this service manually. When running, you will not get an error when trying to update the GAL. 2) "Apply" any changes made to any address lists before the GAL will update Outlook properly. In Organization Configuration - Mailbox in EMC, view the properties of the Default Global Address Book in the Offline Address Book tab. In the properties window, select the Address Lists tab. This shows which address lists makes up the GAL. 3) Close the properties window and select the Address Lists tab in the Organization Configuration - Mailbox. Right-click each address list used by the Def GAL and click "Apply" (make sure the "Immediately" radio button is checked). 4) Last, go back to the Offline Address Book tab, right-click the GAL and select "Update". After a few send/receives in the Outlook clients, their Glogal Address List should update to show the latest changes. Neither one of those solutions helped. So I am not really sure what to do here. Also, I am aware of changing registry on each local computers, but it would be close to impossible as we have 8 offices in 3 different countries. Any suggestions? EDIT 7.XII.2012 @ 10.35 I forgot to mention that we did rebuild the address book and that didn't help.

• Why does Chromium run so slow in portable mode?

  I am using Chromium on a flash drive through LiberKey and it does everything I want it to do as far as syncing my Chrome bookmarks from home, etc. But it's soooooo slow. If I open more than 1 tab, or if a tab is heavy with code such as Gmail or GMaps, then the entire program hangs for about 5-10 seconds. I don't exactly know how portable apps work when run from a flash drive, so is there a way to speed up load times?

I'm looking for a way to allow different programs to act differently when clicking hyperlinks. For example, if I click a hyperlink in Microsoft Outlook I'd prefer it to open a new tab in the current window (option 2) but if I click a link out of an instant messenger program I'd prefer it to open in the current tab or window (option 3).
