• Export and Import MS Access table defenitions as text files

  How can I export/import MS Access table definitions as text files (in a human readable format like I can with Forms or Reports)? I know how I can export the whole table out into CSV file; however: I don't need the data to go (actually really rather that it didn't) When I import a CSV file (especially without data) there's no guarantee that the data types will be the same as my original database. I'm hoping to store my table definitions in a SVN repository. I don't want to have to house any import specifications in the destination database.

• Table and column naming conventions when plural and singular forms are odd or the same

  In my search I found mostly arguments for whether to use plurality in database naming conventions, and ways to handle it in either case. I have decided I prefer plural table names, so I don't want to argue that. I need to represent an animal's species and genus and so on in a database. The plural and singular form for 'species' are the same, and the plural of 'genus' is 'genera'. I think I can get by with: Table: Genera | Column: Genus But I'm unsure how I should handle: Table: Species | Column: Species If I really wanted to be lazy about this I'd just name them 'species specie' and 'genuses genus', but I would prefer to read them in their correct forms. Any advice would be appreciated.

• Convert XML to table in SQL Server 2005.

  If I pass in an xml parameter to a stored proc which looks like this: <ClientKeys> <ck>3052</ck> <ck>3051</ck> <ck>3050</ck> <ck>3049</ck> ... </ClientKeys> ...and then convert the XML to a temp table like this: CREATE TABLE #ClientKeys ( ClientKey varchar(36) ) INSERT INTO #ClientKeys (ClientKey) SELECT ParamValues.ck.value('.','VARCHAR(36)') FROM @ClientKeys.nodes('/ClientKeys/ck') as ParamValues(ck) ...the temp tbl is populated and everything is good. However the time taken to populate said table is strictly proportionate to the number of 'ck' elements in the xml - which I wasn't expecting as there is no iterative step. And thus the time taken to populate the tbl soon becomes 'too long'. Is there a quicker way to achieve the above?

  i have a problem: Firefox adds <tbody> whether it's there or not, after <table>. I have no problem with this. Nokogiri doesn't add it. I need Nokogiri to emulate Firefox's behavior. How can i add tbody after <table> elements to a given HTML page ? If tbody is already there, then move on to the next <table>....until all <tbody> tags are placed by Nokogiri. Thank you.

  Following problem: I need to get the position of a record in the table. Let's say I have five record in the table: Name: john doe, ID: 1 Name: jane doe, ID: 2 Name: Frankie Boy, ID: 4 Name: Johnny, ID: 9 Now, "Frankie Boy" is in the third position in the table. But How to get this information from the SQL server? I could count IDs, but they are not reliable, Frankie has the ID 4, but is in the third position because the record with the ID '3' was deleted. Is there a way? I am aware of ROW_RANK but it would be costly, because I need to select basically the whole set first before I can rank row_rank them. I am using MS SQL Server 2008 R2.

  I have the following tables: user (userid int [pk], name varchar(50)) action (actionid int [pk], description nvarchar(50)) being referenced by another table that captures the relationship: <user1> <action>'s <user2>. I did this with the following table: userAction (userActionId int [pk], actionid int [fk: action.actionid], **userId1 int [fk ref's user.userid; on del/update cascade], userId2 int [fk ref's user.userid; on del/update cascade]**). However, when I try to save the userAction table i get an error because I have two cascading fk's against user.userid. Is there any way to remedy this or must I use a trigger?

  Hello, i have another (probably unanswered) question about map views. I have a map view inside a table view cell and i want to disable the table view scrolling if the scrolling begins in the map view. Also the zooming gesture does not function normally. It only functions if the zooming gesture is done horizontally on the iphone display. The same thing happens with swiping gestures. It only affects the map if i swipe the map area horizontally. If i swipe vertically the table view scrolls instead, and i want to disable that. Any ides how to do it?

  Hi, I am trying to update a table based on a json request. The first update / draw works fine - but any subsequent changes to the variables (the start and end date) do not show up - even though the json pulled from the server seems to be correct (according to firebug).   I'm using the JQuery validation plug to validate my entire form. I also have a dynamic table on my registration page where the user can register more people. I can validate the rest of the form fine but my goal is to validate the table inputs just the same. Here is my jfiddle code: tables I don't know why the add line won't work there but it definitely works on my page. Anyway, that code ends up validate ONLY the first row of my table, but I want it to validate every single row. Can anyone see any problems with the code?

  Lets say i have a Person table, a Role table with a trel table PersonRoles linking them as many to many. I create a new person and assign them to 2 roles (role 1, role 3). I then want to edit this person; so i retrieve their data and bind their roles to a checkboxes. I change the values (Deselect role 1 and select role 2 instead) I then post this data back through a viewmodel. Can i then get Entity Framework to update these roles for me, as in delete the entry in PersonRoles to role 1 and then add a new entry as role 2? Or do i have to do the logic for this myself? • Javascript Grid that can handle sections in a table

  I am making an ASP.NET MVC application that lets a user design a questionnaire that other users can fill out. Now, questionnaires, rather than just having a list of questions, often have sections or subsections that could have headings and not the other columns that an ordinary row (a question) would have. I want a JS Grid that can handle sections and subsections elegantly. I tried using JQGrid, but there the options I have are limited to a "Grid as Subgrid" structure. The appearance becomes quite complex and unlike a questionnaire. Is there a Javascript Grid or a JQuery plugin that can handle this? I can write my own HTML table as long as the JS app will format the table and will add some user-friendliness to the table.

  I'm using two tables. First (friendlist), which contains users who are on the list of friends and the other table (members) that contains the basic data of the users. Friendlist looks like: id | myid | date | user ----------------------------------------- 001 | 50624 | 2010-01-01 | 32009 002 | 41009 | 2010-05-05 | 50624 003 | 50624 | 2010-03-02 | 23007 The column "myid" contains members who added other users (those from column "user") to their frindlist. I want to get the list of all users that I have added to list and those who add me to their friendlist. In this example, if my id is 50624, the list would look like: | allfriends | --------------- 32009 41009 23007 Then I need to check all users from "allfriend" list with data from the table "members". I want to get only the users with status 1.   I have a table structure like the following: user id name profile_stat id name profile_stat_value id name user_profile user_id profile_stat_id profile_stat_value_id My question is: How do I evaluate a query where I want to find all users with profile_stat_id and profile_stat_value_id for many stats? I've tried doing an inner self join, but that quickly gets crazy when searching for many stats. I've also tried doing a count on the actual user_profile table, and that's much better, but still slow. Is there some magic I'm missing? I have about 10 million rows in the user_profile table and want the query to take no longer than a few seconds. Is that possible?

  I am trying to figure out how to change the color of the table view navigation bar in multiple table views. The table views are all connected to a navigation controller. For example, I want one navigation bar to be blue, but another to be red. I have tried the code below in the AppDelegate.m file, but it just changes all the navigation bars to the same color. Is there anywhere else I could place this code to change the color in specific places.   I've got some data in the following format: -1,-1,-1,-1,701,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,304,390,403,435,438,439,442,455 I need to insert it into a temp table like this: CREATE TABLE #TEMP ( Node int ) So that I can use it in a comparison with data in another table. The data above represents separate rows of the "Node" column. Is there an easy way to insert this data, all in one command? Also, the data will actually being coming in as seen, as a string... so I need to be able to just concat it into the SQL query string. I can obviously modify it first if needed.
