• What is the android_metadata table?

  I try to integrate an existing database file into my Android project. I follow the instructions on this blog. They write that I have to add a table android_metadata with a column called locale and put en_US into it. I try to figure out what this table is used for. Because my database content is german. Maybe i then should not put en_US into it? Is this required for localisation of the database content or is the table not needed at all?

  I have two Oracle questions. How can I set the primary key of a table when the table is made up of an object type? e.g. CREATE TABLE object_names OF object_type I have created a Varray type, CREATE TYPE MULTI_TAG AS VARRAY(10) OF VARCHAR(10); but when I try to do SELECT p.tags.count FROM pg_photos p; I get an invalid identifier error on the "count" part. p.tags is a MULTI_TAG, how can I get the number of elements in the MULTI_TAG?

  My program has 4 buttons and each button calls a different table view. That works fine, but my problem is, the view controller I'm using brings up a table view that covers up my navigation bar and my tab bar. I need to replace that coding with something that will bring up a table and not cover up my nav and tab bars. Here is the coding I'm using: -(IBAction)buttonNorthWest { NorthWestViewController *nwController = [[NorthWestViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"NorthWestView" bundle:nil]; self.nwViewController = nwController; [self.view insertSubview:nwViewController.view atIndex:0]; [self presentModalViewController:nwViewController animated:YES]; [nwController release]; } The [self presentModalViewController....] is the problem.   Hi, I would like to construct a hash table that looks up keys in sequences (strings) of bytes ranging from 1 to 15 bytes. I would like to store an integer value, so I imagine an array for hashing would suffice. I'm having difficulty conceptualizing how to construct a hash function such that given the key would give an index into the array. Any assistance would be much appreiated. The maximum number of entries in the hash is: 4081*15 + 4081*14 + ... 4081 = 4081((15*(16))/2) = 489720. So for example: int table[489720]; int lookup(unsigned char *key) { int index = hash(key); return table[index]; } How can I compute hash(key). I'd preferably like to get a perfect hash function.   So I'd like to make a visible table, with a border around each cell and a different background color for the header. I'd like to eventually insert controls into this. For example, put a textfield inside one of the table elements, or some radio buttons, etc. Is there a control for this? I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, but they both seem kind of "meh": use the Grid Control - I like this but is there a way to color the border on the cell (I did not find this) use the DataGrid Control - this control is just way too complicated for what I need. I'm just looking for an html style table in silverlight, any ideas?

• super dealloc error using multiple table view calsses

  I am new to Iphone apps and I am trying to build a tab based app. I am attempting to have a table ontop of an image in both tabs. On tab with a table of audio links and the other tab with a table of video links. This has all gone swimmingly, I have created two viewControllers for the two tables. All the code works great apart from to get it to work I have to comment out the super dealloc in the - (void)dealloc {} in the videoTableViewController for the second tab. If I don't I get the error message: FREED(id): message numberOfSectionsInTableView: sent to freed object please help, i have no idea why it is doing this...

• Entity Framework - Using a lookup (picklist) table with a lookup key

  I'm working on a WPF application that is working well using the Entity Framework (3.5 SP1) for complicated table structures. The problem now is I want to get a list from the EF that includes lookups into a picklist table that has multiple picklists in it. In SQL I would write a sub select as such: SELECT Name, (Select typeName from PickLists where type_id = items.type_id and picklist_key=333) as Type_desc FROM Items There are no Foreign keys for this, and the picklists table is never updated using the EF, so it is read only as far as the EF is concerned. I'm not sure the best method to put this into the model if at all. I'm displaying in a read-only datagrid on a dashboard. Thanks!

  I'm a database newbie designing a database. I'll use SO to ask my question because it's easier to ask it on something that you can see already, but it's not the same, it will just help me understand the right approach. As you can see, there are many questions here and each can have many answers. How should I store the answers in a table? Should I store all the answers in the SAME table with a unique id (make it the key) and just a new field for the question id? What if there are 100,000 answers like there is here? Do I still store them in 1 table? What keys should I use to minimize search time when I want to search for the answers of a specific question? The database is both read and write if that makes any difference in this case.

• UITableView, force to snap to whole UITableViewCell at top of table

  I have a need to make a UITableView only display whole cells at the top of the cell, so when the table is moved or scrolled it should animate to make a whole cell visible at the top of the table if it has happened to stop with a cell partially off the top. This can be easily done using visibleCells and scrollToRowAtIndexPath methods of UITableView, BUT the cell should not always scroll down to move the partial cell into view - if the cell at top is more than 50% gone it should go completely with the next cell (i.e. index 1 in the array returned by visibleCells) moving to the top of the table. I've tried a few things to make this happen but I don't think I am understanding the way frame and bounds work between a UITableView and its UITableViewCells. Any help?

  According to MySQL manual, table comments are limited to 60 characters. I'm designing the schema in MySQL Workbench, which does not enforce this limit, so I end up with writing more than 60 symbols quite often, and this causes the SQL script to fail. To tell the truth I would be quite happy with table comments being internal to my schema (i.e. not exported to the actual database), but Workbench doesn't allow this either. Hence my question: is there a way to increase maximum length of table comment in MySQL to 255?

The problem is that in one field i have values like this: <a href="http://google.com">Google</a> and when i export the table in html format the generated html table for this fields contains: &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com&quot;&gt;Google&lt;/a&gt; which is not a valid html link. Is there way to export the table without mysql to convert the < and > chars? Thanks!

In this relationship table I want to add a column that can tell me what kind of relationship this is; is the customer testdriving the car, do he want to buy the car, ect.   I've recently started to use SQLite and began to integrate it into a C# project I'm working on. However, randomly my project will throw the exception: Input array is longer than the number of columns in this table I'm having a hard time trying the trace the problem because it seems to be thrown on a random basis. • UITableView gives empty table, does not load data

  Hi, Everything works fine when the view that holds my table is the main (first) view. However, when it's not the first view and I switch into that view, my table does not load data and I get an empty table. Using NSLog I can tell that the program is not invoking numberOfRowsInSection and cellForRowAtIndexPath. I have <UITableViewDataSource, UITableViewDelegate>, IBOutlet UITableview *tableView all declared. They are also connected in the InterfaceBuilder. I tried using viewWillAppear and [tableView reloadData] but that did not help. I'm new to iPhone development and your help is appreciated!

  So, the modern concept of the buddy list: Let's say we have a table called Person. Now, that Person needs to have many buddies (of which each buddy is also in the person class). The most obvious way to construct a relationship would be through a join table. i.e. buddyID person1_id person2_id 0 1 2 1 3 6 But, when a user wants to see their buddy list, the program would have to check the column 'person1_id' and 'person2_id' to find all of their buddies. Is this the appropriate way to implement this kind of table, or would it be better to add the record twice.. i.e. buddyID person1_id person2_id 0 1 2 1 2 1 So that only one column has to be searched.
