• How to convert a C++ program that uses CUDA into MEX

  For work, I am converting the Image Denoising program that comes with the CUDA SDK into a MATLAB program. As far as I know, I have made all the necessary changes required by MATLAB, but when I try to call mex on it, MATLAB returns a bunch of linkage errors that I have no idea how to fix. If anyone has any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it. The command I am giving MATLAB is: mex imageDenoisingGL.cpp -I..\..\common\inc -IC:\CUDA\include -L..\..\common\lib -lglut32 And the output from MATLAB is a bunch of these: imageDenoisingGL.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__cutCheckCmdLineFlag@12 referenced in function "void __cdecl __cutilExit(int,char * *)" (?__cutilExit@@YAXHPAPAD@Z) I am running: Windows XP x32 Visual Studio 2005 MATLAB 2007a

  Define a function replicate which given a list of numbers returns a list with each number duplicated its value. Use a fold, map, and take .. replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2] output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2] I've figure this out using List comprehension and recursion: replicate2 [] = [] replicate2 (n:nn) = take n(repeat n) ++ replicate2 nn but how would you use fold and map to do this? so far I have: replicate n = map (foldl1 (take n(repeat n)) n) n which is obviously wrong, but I think I am close.. so any help would be nice, THANKS!

• jQuery Validation Plugin + equalTo Not Working

  Hey guys, Here is what I am currently using to attempt to validate a form. When I press submit with no values entered into the form, I get the error messages for each of the inputs as expected. However, no matter what I put in newpassword2 or newemail2 they never 'pass' validation. I've tried everything from copy and paste to making them one letter each to no success. Perhaps I am not using the equalTo attribute correctly... I've also verified that all the names of the selectors agree with the input id's on the form. Also, all of the inputs are contained within the form, so there aren't any outside of the form tags (I read that was an issue with someone else). $(document).ready(function() { $("#account_data").validate({ rules: { newpassword1: { required: true }, newpassword2: { equalTo: "#newpassword1" }, newemail1: { required: true, email: true }, newemail2: { equalTo: "#newemail1" } } }); }); Any help would be extremely appreciated! • Syntax error in SWIG using __thread keyword

  I am trying to make some code thread safe for use with pthreads. This code is written in C++, but is linked to using SWIG. g++ compiles this correctly, but when swig tries to create a wrapper, I get: fast_alloc.hh:109: Error: Syntax error in input(3) The original, unsafe code that compiles correctly is: static void *freeLists[Num_Buckets]; and the error occurs when I change it to: static __thread void *freeLists[Num_Buckets]; I have made other parts thread safe adding "__thread", for example, this works: static __thread unsigned newCount[Num_Buckets];

I have a button on the main xml layout which calls control() and sets up my InputControl view, from there I capture user input. I'm now trying to accomplish this and is asking for a bit of advise: I'm basically trying to build a filter with 4 input elements, and 1 output. I have 4 select (drop down) elements in my page. As soon as one of them is changed, I need to build a href and get the partial view with the return values. My questionis now if I should try to build the href in the select element or if I can do it once in jquery, and don't have to have duplicated code. How would I accomplish this?

  I basically have 7 select statement that I need to have the results output into separate columns. Normally I would use a crosstab for this but I need a fast efficient way to go about this as there are over 7 billion rows in the table. I am using the vertica database system. • Is java.util.Scanner that slow?

  Hi guys, In a Android application I want to use Scanner class to read a list of floats from a text file (it's a list of vertex coordinates for OpenGL). Exact code is: Scanner in = new Scanner(new BufferedInputStream(getAssets().open("vertexes.off"))); final float[] vertexes = new float[nrVertexes]; for(int i=0;i<nrVertexFloats;i++){ vertexes[i] = in.nextFloat(); } It seems however that this is incredibly slow (it took 30 minutes to read 10,000 floats!) - as tested on the 2.1 emulator. What's going on? I don't remember Scanner to be that slow when I used it on the PC (truth be told I never read more than 100 values before). Or is it something else, like reading from an asset input stream? Thanks for the help!

• How should platform specific lib files be named?

  Hello, I'm working on a C++ project that produces a lib that other teams use. It's being produced in a few different flavours: Win32 Debug Win32 Debug Static Win32 Release Win32 Release Static x64 Debug x64 Debug Static x64 Release x64 Release Static I'm wondering what the best wisdom is on how to name the dlls and what arguments are for different naming conventions. Do I output the libs into different directories, or do I append some letters on the end of the lib to differentiate them, or something else? One concern is that if I use directories, but don't give all the libs different names, users of the library will have problems where they accidentally use the wrong lib. Are these concerns valid? • Is there a mode for different Paypal IPN?

  I have a donation script at this moment where the user inputs the donation amount on the Paypal website. The problem with this is that some people donate $0.30 which equates to $0 after Paypal fees. I want to put first check the amount donated using an input on my website and then send off the amount to the Paypal website where they can continue to enter their credit card information and what not. How do I do this? Do I have to change to another mode? or am I supposed to send the amount to Paypal and then they'll know how it's handled?

  If I have a notebook with three spreadsheet widgets, what is the best way to have changes to the spreadsheet update a dictionary (or maybe an sqlite file?). Do all wx grid objects come with a built in dictionary related to the SetNumberRows and SetNumberCols?   I am using ruby 1.8.7. p = lambda { return 10;} def lab(block) puts 'before' puts block.call puts 'after' end lab p Above code output is before 10 after I refactored same code into this def lab(&block) puts 'before' puts block.call puts 'after' end lab { return 10; } Now I am getting LocalJumpError: unexpected return. To me both the code are doing same thing. Yes in the first case I am passing a proc and in the second case I am passing a block. But &block converts that block into proc. • Django: Geocoding an address on form submission?

  Trying to wrap my head around django forms and the django way of doing things. I want to create a basic web form that allows a user to input an address and have that address geocoded and saved to a database. I created a Location model: class Location(models.Model): address = models.CharField(max_length=200) city = models.CharField(max_length=100) state = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) postal_code = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) country = models.CharField(max_length=100) latitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) longitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) And defined a form: class LocationForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = models.Location exclude = ('latitude','longitude') In my view I'm using form.save() to save the form. This works and saves an address to the database. I created a module to geocode an address. I'm not sure what the django way of doing things is, but I guess in my view, before I save the form, I need to geocode the address and set the lat and long. How do I set the latitude and longitude before saving?

• My Ruby Code: How can I improve? (Java to Ruby guy)

  Greetings, I get the feeling that I'm using ruby in an ugly way and possibly missing out on tonnes of useful features. I was wondering if anyone could point out a cleaner better way to write my code which is pasted here. The code itself simply scrapes some data from yelp and processes it into a json format. The reason I'm not using hash.to_json is because it throws some sort of stack error which I can only assume is due to the hash being too large (It's not particularly large). • Headless HTML rendering to image on CentOS 5.4

  Hello, I have a project requirement to render HTML and capture the rendered image as a file on a headless CentOS 5.4 server. My specific requirements are: 1) Input will be a URL to the page to render, output will be an image file containing the rendered image of the page 2) CSS must be supported by the renderer up to CSS level-1 3) Static images in the page must be displayed properly in the rendered image, including any transparent color in .GIF files 4) Must be able to run on a headless CentOS 5.4 server. 5) Solution must not depend on any product or component that is not free for commercial use I do not need to do anything with the page other than get the screen capture and save it to an image. The hard part seems to be doing this in a headless environment. Some of the solutions that I've seen discussed need a display in order to work. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Jim

• Google Analytics to track FireFox extension use

  Hi all, I'm developing a Firefox extension and would like to track its use with google analytics, but I can't get it working. I've tried manually calling a funstion from ga.js, but that didn't work for some reason. No error was produced, but neither was any data collected. My last attempt was to have a website that just holds the tracking javascript and then loading it within the extension in an iframe with the URL configured so it contains meaningful data. This way the analytics are getting connected when I visit said webpage with a browser, but not in an extension. I've tried putting some visible javascript ont he site and have confirmed the site's javascript is executing. This method also works with other trackers, but I don't like their output and would prefer Google Analytics. Any ideas what else I could try to accomplish this?

There is no error output to the browser (debug is turned on) and nothing in the launcher's log for my app. Is this possible to do ?
