I am using the code from MS to print a form however it looks like the form needs to be visible with a Show/ShowDialog() to work.
I am trying to use the code for a form that I don't want to show.
Any ideas?

I want to setup values for a combobox in vb.net through code. But I don't know what's the code for setting it up. please help.

I have used Java, C++, .Net. (in that order). When asked about by-value vs. by-ref on interviews, I have always done well on that question ... perhaps because nobody went in-depth on it. Now I know that I do not see the whole picture.
I was looking at this section of code written by someone else:
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
AppendX(doc); // Real name of the function is different
AppendY(doc); // ditto
When I saw this code, I thought: wait a minute, should not I use a ref in front of doc variable (and modify AppendX/Y accordingly? it works as written, but made me question whether I actually understand the ref keyword in C#.
As I thought about this more, I recalled early Java days (college intro language). A friend of mine looked at some code I have written and he had a mental block - he kept asking me which things are passed in by reference and when by value. My ignorant response was something like: Dude, there is only one kind of arg passing in Java and I forgot which one it is :). Chill, do not over-think and just code.
Java still does not have a ref does it? Yet, Java hackers seem to be productive. Anyhow, coding in C++ exposed me to this whole by reference business, and now I am confused.
Should ref be used in the example above?
I am guessing that when ref is applied to value types: primitives, enums, structures (is there anything else in this list?) it makes a big difference. And ... when applied to objects it does not because it is all by reference. If things were so simple, then why would not the compiler restrict the usage of ref keyword to a subset of types.
When it comes to objects, does ref serve as a comment sort of? Well, I do remember that there can be problems with null and ref is also useful for initializing multiple elements within a method (since you cannot return multiple things with the same easy as you would do in Python).
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm making a game in Flash for school. I have a few dialog boxes that work just fine! Now I need a bigger one with more buttons and with the same code, I can't even get a trace reaction...
My code:
On the button itself:
okButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,MovieClip(parent).clickMyButton);
In the AS file:
public function clickMyButton(event:MouseEvent) {
trace("Halloooo");
}
Another question:
How can I close (remove from stage) a child dialog box (movie clip)

I'm using VS 2008 to debug C# program with source code access.
The expected behavior happened as long as the debugger attached to the running program, but when the program ran without debugger attached the exception threw.
What are the common reasons for this to happen, and how can I tell the code difference behind this?
Thanks,
Hi, if I'm using the sizeof operator and making use of size_t in my code, do I have necessarily have to include the preprocessor directive stddef.h ? I haven't included the stddef.h and my code compiles without warning with both MVS2008 and with Borland C++ BuilderX.
Thanks a lot...
After executing this code:
var runtime = IronRuby.Ruby.CreateRuntime();
var engine = IronRuby.Ruby.CreateEngine();
var scrope = engine.CreateScope();
engine.ExecuteFile("libtest.rb");
How can I get all the methods of a ruby class in c# code?
I'm getting datetime in JSON format as -
"\/Date(1261413600000+0530)\/"
From code behind, I'm using DataContractJsonSerializer.ReadObject method to deserialize data.
Converted data time is not correct.
How to parse correct JSON date time from code behind?
In C#, is it possible to have same parameters yet override each other(they are different in the return types)
public override Stocks[] Search(string Field,string Param){ //some code}
public override Stocks Search(string Field, string Param){//some code}
C# returns compilation error
After the page has loaded a piece of javascript set focus on window and on a specific input field. I want to prevent this focus on the input field how can I do that with javascript in greasemonkey? Maybe this is not possible because greasemonkey don't execute the code until the entire page has loaded? Then let's say I can run my code at any time how can I prevent the focusing?
I am trying to test a controller method with the following code:
it "should set an approved_at date and email the campaign's client" do
@campaign = Campaign.create(valid_attributes)
post :approve, id: @campaign.id.to_s
@campaign.reload
@campaign.approved_at.should_not be(nil)
end
However, when I run this test, I get the following error:
Failure/Error: @campaign.reload
ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound:
Couldn't find Campaign without an ID
When I run the analagous lines in the rails console, the reload works and the value is set as I need it to be. Why isn't reload working for me when I run the code in an rspec test?
I'm running lots of cron job and once in a while there is a MYSQL has gone away error.
I've now written some code to handle the error, but how do I simulate the error on my localhost so that the code can be tested thoroughly?

Hello, I have a php-file which includes another html-file:
<? virtual("../top.html");?>
The problem is that any code before this include compiles and runs well, after - nothing. There aren't any errors etc. After commenting this line, everything works.
Code was written under local computer with ArchLinux + LAMP. Now I have ubuntu 10.04 with the same configuration.
What could it be?
I work in Windows and often find the need to code some script that manipulates files or basic string manipulation. Currently, I'm doing this using PHP but having a LAMP stack for this seems overkill. I've tried things like autoHotkey but the syntax and functionality is horrific.
So I'm looking for a scripting with:
a) a sane syntax
b) lots and lots of built-in libraries, functions, etc
c) minimal setup. Preferably, I would like to code and run the script from my app launcher of choice, Executor
Hello,
I'm not able to understand the following multi-dimensional code. Could someone please clarify me?
int[][] myJaggedArr = new int [][]
{
new int[] {1,3,5,7,9},
new int[] {0,2,4,6},
new int[] {11,22}
};
May I know how it is different from the following code?
int[][] myArr = new int [][] {
{1,3,5,7,9},
{0,2,4,6},
{11,22} };
I'm making a bookmarklet, but I've encountered some wierd behaviour in IE8. The code causing the problem is this:
var els = document.getElementById("my_id").getElementsByTagName("*");
for(var i in els)
{
alert(i+","+els[i])
}
The first thing that is alerted is "length, n". This isn't the case in chrome: just in IE8.
Interestingly, it seems to behave differently depending on whether the code goes in the console/address bar or the page itself.
Is this standard behaviour?
I use cnPack Uses cleaner, but in general which are the downsides of having useless units?
I know some of them:
1) of course if the unit is never used across the full project there will be useless resource consuption
2) the code insight will give useless results
3) the code insight will be slower
But imagine a simple case:
I have a project with 2 forms, I use StrUtils in one of them but I declared StrUtils in both of them... Is there any downside in temrs of memory consumption in this case or not?
In one of my HTML page dynamically loading some file field while clicking a button like follows
$('#add').click(function(){
$('#files').append('<input type="file" class="myfile" name="myfile" />');
});
My question is how to "bind" newly added element to HTML page so that I can access like
$('.myfile').change(function(){
// Code Here
});
I am asking this because
$('.myfile').live('change',function(){
// Code here
});
not working in all browsers , expecially IE
Please help thanks
I have followed the code example here
toupper c++ example
And implemented it in my own code as follows
void CharString::MakeUpper()
{
char* str[strlen(m_pString)];
int i=0;
str[strlen(m_pString)]=m_pString;
char* c;
while (str[i])
{
c=str[i];
putchar (toupper(c));
i++;
}
}
But this gives me the following compiler error
CharString.cpp: In member function 'void CharString::MakeUpper()':
CharString.cpp:276: error: invalid conversion from 'char*' to 'int'
CharString.cpp:276: error: initializing argument 1of 'int toupper(int)'
CharString.cpp: In member function 'void CharString::MakeLower()':
This is line 276
putchar (toupper(c));
I understand that toupper is looking for int as a parameter and returns an int also, is that the problem? If so how does the example work?
I often saw this code in jQuery.
$('div').action1().delay(miliseconds).action2();
I could realize it in one level action in the following code.
function $(id) {
var $ = document.getElementById(id);
$.action1 = function() {
};
return $;
}
How to write the method delay() and action2() so that I could use them this way?
$('div').action1().delay(miliseconds).action2();
