I have a bunch of MACROS in c++ code that expand into some functions. And I am debugging something. Just want to see what the code ends up looking like”
Any ideas?
Hello,
I'm not able to understand the following multi-dimensional code. Could someone please clarify me?
int[][] myJaggedArr = new int [][]
{
new int[] {1,3,5,7,9},
new int[] {0,2,4,6},
new int[] {11,22}
};
May I know how it is different from the following code?
int[][] myArr = new int [][] {
{1,3,5,7,9},
{0,2,4,6},
{11,22} };
I have used Java, C++, .Net. (in that order). When asked about by-value vs. by-ref on interviews, I have always done well on that question ... perhaps because nobody went in-depth on it. Now I know that I do not see the whole picture.
I was looking at this section of code written by someone else:
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();
AppendX(doc); // Real name of the function is different
AppendY(doc); // ditto
When I saw this code, I thought: wait a minute, should not I use a ref in front of doc variable (and modify AppendX/Y accordingly? it works as written, but made me question whether I actually understand the ref keyword in C#.
As I thought about this more, I recalled early Java days (college intro language). A friend of mine looked at some code I have written and he had a mental block - he kept asking me which things are passed in by reference and when by value. My ignorant response was something like: Dude, there is only one kind of arg passing in Java and I forgot which one it is :). Chill, do not over-think and just code.
Java still does not have a ref does it? Yet, Java hackers seem to be productive. Anyhow, coding in C++ exposed me to this whole by reference business, and now I am confused.
Should ref be used in the example above?
I am guessing that when ref is applied to value types: primitives, enums, structures (is there anything else in this list?) it makes a big difference. And ... when applied to objects it does not because it is all by reference. If things were so simple, then why would not the compiler restrict the usage of ref keyword to a subset of types.
When it comes to objects, does ref serve as a comment sort of? Well, I do remember that there can be problems with null and ref is also useful for initializing multiple elements within a method (since you cannot return multiple things with the same easy as you would do in Python).
Thanks.
I am developing Javascript app that will wrap every line of text entered inside iframe (designmode) with P (or div) like it happens by default in IE.
For now I am not pasting my code because I just started, the first problem is when i type some text in firefox and even before I click enter or calling any function firebug inserts
<br _moz_dirty="">
under the entered text.
Why? How can I prevent it?
If you still need my code please tell.

Hi !
I'm working with web2py and for some reason web2py seems to fail to notice when code has changed in certain cases. I can't really narrow it down, but from time to time changes in the code are not reflected, web2py obviously has the old version cached somewhere.
The only thing that helps is quitting web2py and restarting it (i'm using the internal server).
Any hints ? Thank you !
I have the follwoing code:
$("input:checkbox").live('click', function() {
alert($(this).val());
});
True is shown if the checkbox is checked. However, if the checkbox is checked and I uncheck it, the value shown is still true. How can I correct that? What is wrong with the code? Thanks
Given the size of the code of the main function in bytes passed as a parameter to a function, what is the best way to get to the base address for the main code and retrieve the first char * in the argv array?

Hi All,
I am using the following code to show confirmation dialog box after finishing some update process in database. but it is not working for me.
code:
string javaScript = "<script language=JavaScript>\n " + "if(confirm('Do you want to update
the files?'))window.location.href = \"Upload.aspx?ID=" + ID +
"&pt=Gm&page=Gms\"; else return false;\n" + "</script>";
RegisterStartupScript("imbtnUpdate_Click", javaScript);
as we "No keyword should be used as an Identifier in java". But there will be some words like asser or enum or any other which have been added as keyword in version 1.4, 1.5 resp. So if any older version code is used to compile with new javac, what happens if that code contains these words as an identifier?
I wonder if syntax as follows would be helpful in your opinion as a code readability improvent and self-commenting of code:
std::map<std::string name, std::vector<int> scores> myMap;
In this example it clearly says and no other comment is needed, what for we are using myMap variable.
Looking forward to your opinions.
I have been trying to build a user control with some custom properties set in the designer. However the control involves some interop code and settings which shouldn't be adjusted at runtime. Is there a way to stop the values being changed after they have been initially set by the designer code?
hi,
I'm loading from my main page an external js file, with a function.
I have a flash file in the main page invoking the javascript function.
Everything worked very well until when the javascript code was in the main file, but when I moved javascript to an external file the function seems not called anymore.
So... there is no way to move the javascript code to an external file ? Or any other solution ?
thanks
Hello
How can I demonstrate for students the usability of likely and unlikely compiler hints (__builtin_expect)?
Can you write an sample code, which will be several times faster with these hints comparing the code without hints.
In Bash script, what is the difference between the following snippets?
1) Using single brackets:
if [ "$1" = VALUE ] ; then
# code
fi
2) Using double brackets:
if [[ "$1" = VALUE ]] ; then
# code
fi
I have made a string vector
vector actor_;
and then added elements in it using push_back.
I now want to display all of them, for which I need to run a loop according to the number of elements in the vector. For that, I need to run the following loop:
for (int i = 0; i < (int)actor_.size; i++)
{
}
but this returns the following error:
error C2440: 'type cast' : cannot convert from 'unsigned int (__thiscall std::vector<_Ty::* )(void) const' to 'int'
1 with
1 [
1 _Ty=std::string
1 ]
1 There is no context in which this conversion is possible
Why doesn't the compiler automatically put break statements after each code block in the switch? Is it for historical reasons? When would you want multiple code blocks to execute?
No, I'm not talking about making a slideshow of pictures. How can I make the actual file that windows (at least windows 7) uses for screensavers?
It is a .scr format, and when I opened it in Notepad, I got a bunch of symbols, with a few words scattered throughout, but that was expected. It looks like it was made with directx, xml, and even assembly (for the shaders) based on the recognizable code there.
I just went on to a site-hosting place and made this:
Link to ribbons.scr code
I have an app with a tab bar, and nav controllers in each tab. When user shakes the device, a UIImageView appears as a child view in the nav controller. But the UIImageView must contain a special image, depending on the device's current orientation.
If I write just
- (void)willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)
if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait|| interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown) {
//Code
}
else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight||interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) {
//Code
}
}
The view just goes crazy if user rotated the device before shaking. Is there a method to get iPhones current orientation?
Hi,

I have a strange error. I'm debugging an asp.net site and suddenly it stops. Visual Studio stays in debug mode and my web application stays on running just fine. I found this post on, but I don't think a background thread is causing the problem. There's even a try catch around the code where it usually stops debugging, but the catch is not triggered... Everytime I try it, it stops at a different place in the code.
I want example.com/23-45 be transformed to example.com?id=23-45
Could you please post the code I should add to .htaccess file to make this work
(Is this everything I should do to make this work - add a piece of code to .htaccess file ???)
Thanks a lot!
my pattern is the following:
{(code)}
where code is a number (up to 6 digits), or 2 letter followed by a number.
For example:
{(45367)}
{(265367)}
{(EF127012)}
I want to find all occurrences in a long string, I can't just use pure regex , because I need to preform some action when i find a match (like logging the position and the type of the match).
