To be more precise - I have some java code and then at some point I need to execute a long running operation. What I would like to do is to execute that operation in the background so that the rest of the program can continue executing and when that task is completed just update some specific object which. I found Spreadsheet Gears to be very nice for manipulating and allowing the user to edit Excel files, but on spreadsheets that use VBA for calculations, well, these don't work. • msys+mingw - is there installer or at least .tar.lzma/.zip?

  I try to install n'th time the msys+mingw - however with little success. I need the minimal developer system (standard tools such as sed/awk+autotools+gcc) however each time something is not working (for example currently when I try to run autotools m4 goes into some error loop on AC_INIT). I know they stopped providing installer 'for easy update of components' and they are working on something but maybe there is something unofficial.

However, the onClick event handler on the ClickableSpan is never called, it appears that you can not select individual components on the widget just the whole widget. This approach works fine for a normal app, so what I do I need to change to make this work for a widget?

  I created a TabNavigator with a bunch of NavigatorContent inside it, and want to skin just the buttons of the tabs themselves. So I added a skinClass, but looks like in the documentation, there's no skin part to target the button specifically. Do I have to style the mx:TabNavigator itself to accomplish this? I was hoping not since I don't know how to style mx components and am more comfortable with styling spark. Any other alternatives that I didn't think about?

  Delphi 2011 will allow to compile applications that will run also on MacOS. Is it realistical to think that it will be possible to "migrate to cross platform" a win32 application?   I am using Netbeans 6.1 and Tomcat 6.0.1.6. I made some very minor changes to a project that had been working and now I am getting the following error: com.sun.rave.web.ui.appbase.ApplicationException: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Could not add one or more tag libraries. The only change I made was to a backing bean method, no new UI components, jsp, etc. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  I'm wondering what the current state of art recommendation is regarding user authentication for a web application making use of JSF 2.0 (and if any components do exist) and JEE6 core mechanisms (login/check permissions/logouts) with user information hold in a JPA entity. The Sun tutorial is a bit sparse on this (only handles servlets). This is without making use of a whole other framework, like Spring-Security (acegi), or Seam, but trying to stick hopefully with the new Java EE 6 platform (web profile) if possible. Thanks, Niko
