  • Windows 7 Networking Problem

    - by bstorrie
Hello, I'm on a Windows 7 Computer with an additional Win7 computer and an XP computer and I keep getting an error: 0x8007046a: "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" when I try to connect to a share on the Windows XP Computer. The Windows 7 Computers talk fine as far as HomeGroup, etc, but no dice with XP shares. Additionally this is in a workgroup. I have searched countless forums including TechNet, tried IRPStackSize, DhcpNodeType, and Uninstalling/Reinstalling File and Printer Sharing for M$ Networks. Any help is much appreciated.

  • Problem IIS 7.0 Locking files durring upload

    - by viscious
I am running a server 2008 with iis7 and the ftp addon on to iis 7.0 I have the ftp site configured and mostly working Except that about 70% of the time when transferring a file the upload will hang forever. If I disconnect the ftp client and reconnect and try to upload the same file I will get an error on the client saying the file is locked. I have to restart the ftp service to clear the lock. I fired up process explorer and did a search on the file in question and sure enough the ftp service has a lock on the file and it takes around 20 minutes to release the lock on its own (and sometimes longer). This lock stays around even after I disconnect the client. Like I said this only happens about 70% of the time, the other 30% of the time it goes through just fine. Things i have verified. -Not a firewall issue. Server is using passive port range 8000-9000 which is allowed on the firewall. -Not a nat issue, server has a globally rout-able ip address -all recommended/required updates installed I have 5 other servers in a very similar configuration and this is the only one i have problems with.

  • Iptables Forwarding problem

    - by ankit
Hi all, I had initally asked question about sertting up my linux box for natting for my home network and was given suggestions in the thread here. Did not want to clutter the old question so starting a new one here. based on the earlier suggestions, i have come up with the following rules ... :PREROUTING ACCEPT [1:48] :OUTPUT ACCEPT [12:860] :POSTROUTING ACCEPT [3:228] -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE COMMIT *filter :INPUT DROP [3:228] :FORWARD DROP [0:0] :OUTPUT DROP [0:0] -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth0 -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -i eth1 -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -i eth1 -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT -A OUTPUT -j ACCEPT COMMIT If you notice, i do have the proper MASQURADING rule and the proper FORWARD filter rule as well. However i am facing 2 problems On the linux box itself DNS resolving is not working the lan clients connected to the linux box, are still not able to get to internet. when i ping something from them, i see the DROP count in iptables INPUT rule increasing. now my question is, when i am pinging something from the lan client, how come it is being matched by the input chain ?! should it be in the forward chain ? Chain INPUT (policy DROP 20 packets, 2314 bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 99 9891 ACCEPT all -- lo any anywhere anywhere 0 0 ACCEPT icmp -- eth0 any anywhere anywhere 0 0 ACCEPT tcp -- eth0 any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:http 0 0 ACCEPT tcp -- eth0 any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:https 122 9092 ACCEPT tcp -- eth0 any anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:ssh Thanks ankit

    - by jiri
I updated Windows XP on my old laptop to Windows 7. After installing I tried to open internet connection but Win 7 says that it cannot find network adapter because of a missing driver. I tried to find network adapter from device manager but could not find one. My network connection was working fine on Win XP. What has happened, how to update my network adapter driver for Windows 7?

  • Data Recovery needed with a Sector Zero problem on a HDD

    - by Jay Robins
Left my computer (running XP) copying files to an external drive. Came back a few hours later, and the laptop was pretty hot and had frozen (Ironic aint it). Forced a reboot, and the laptop HDD hasnt worked since. Set it up in an external enclosure, but XP cant mount the HDD to a drive letter, but is able to recognize the manufacturer and drive size (Hitachi-320GB). No noise or rattling when the drive is spinning, but I cant get anything off of it, since i cant mount it, or see much of anything. Computer repair shop ran some software tests and says it came back with a "Zero Sector bad" message, and need to send it to a professional data recovery service. Any other options or ideas, before I have to spend thousands of dollars to recover my data? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! I'm desperate and a poor student! Thanks in Advance, -Jay

  • first time setting up ssl, running into a strange problem, tutorials haven't been too helpful

    - by pedalpete
This is my first time trying to set-up an ssl for one a site, and I'm running it on a server that has 3 other sites already hosted. I'm running apache2.?? and the install came with an ssl.conf page. The ssl.conf has the following settings LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so Listen 443 AddType application/x-x509-ca-cert .crt AddType application/x-pkcs7-crl .crl <VirtualHost *:443> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /var/www/html/securesite ServerName securesite.com ErrorLog logs/securesite-error_log CustomLog logs/securesite-access_log common SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile /etc/httpd/ssl.crt/securesite.com.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/httpd/ssl.key/server.key SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/httpd/ssl.crt/gd_bundle.crt </VirtualHost> When I run 'apachectl configtest', I don't get any errors, but running 'apachectl -k restart', I get 'httpd not running, trying to start'. I have two questions 1) Is there an error in the way I'm defining my virtualhost for 443?? the rest of my entries point to <VirtualHost *:80. When I comment out the above entry, apache runs fine. 2) do I need to set-up a redirect from port 80 for secure site? Because most users are going to go to http: or www. , and I need to send them to https: does apache do this automatically? or do i need to create an entry with a redirect?

  • chroot'ing SSH home directories, shell problem.

    - by Hamza
Hi folks, I am trying to chroot my SSH users to their home directories and it seems to work.. in a strange way. Here is what I have in my sshd_config: Match group restricthome ChrootDirectory %h The permissions on the user directories looks like this: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 11 13:45 [user]/ And I can see that the user logs in successfully: May 11 13:49:23 box sshd[5695]: Accepted password for [user] from x.x.x.x port 2358 ssh2 (with no error messages after this) But after entering the password the PuTTY window closes down. This is a wild guess, but could it be because the user's shell is set to /bin/bash and it can't execute because of the chroot? If so, could you give me pointers on how to fix it? Would simply copying the bash binary into user's home directory and modyfying the shell work? How would I deal with the dependencies, ldd shows quite a few of those :) Comments/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • AFXR problem using gradwell secondary DNS

    - by Roaders
Hi All I use Gradwell.com to provide secondary DNS but I keep getting e-mails along the lines of the following saying that it's not working: You have asked us to provide a secondary DNS service for the following domain(s) Unfortunately, the primary DNS server(s) you specified are not permitting the necessary zone transfers from our servers, or they are not answering "SOA" queries for your domain correctly. I have gone through the support procedure and they weren't that helpful. They have suggested the following: Our secondline team have suggested setting the AXFR to use anouther machine. This will ensure that the transfer is not locked down to one machine and should allow any machine to make the request I don't really know what AFXR is and I only have 1 production machine so I can't set the AFXR to use another one! In previous support correspondence we confirmed that I am allowing transfers to the correct IP and that I have the correct ports open on the firewall. I am running Windows Server 2003. What can I do to try and get these zone transfers working? Thanks

  • RAID-0 problem with a Sony sporting a new HDD

    - by redrock
Sony Windows 7 PC. Originally had 2 x 300 Gb HDD. One HDD completely pancaked so have replaced with a new 500 Gb HDD. When both drives are connected the 300GB doesn't appear to be recognized as a 300Gb HDD as a separate entity. BIOS sees it but the operating system only sees a total of 465GB of HD space. When both disks are attached under disk management it shows one 465Gb as RAID 0 and the new drive as STxxxxxx 465Gb. My question I guess is what should I see in total HDD space and is this configured correctly as I thought I would see 2 separate drives 1x500Gb and 1x300Gb. My customer insisted that prior to the HDD crash he saw 2 drives both registering as 300Gb (a c: and d: drive).

  • VPS DNS Resolution problem

    - by fatnic
Hi. I've recently moved from a shared hosting to a VPS at vps.net but I think I might have broken it already! I have domain.com and domain.net. I have setup DNS records for both to point to my server. However, only domain.com pings to the correct IP address. domain.net is pointing to a different IP address. Possibly the old server it was pointing to. This has now been deleted. Is there possibly any way to correct this without having to submit a ticket to VPS.net?

  • IPSec Tunnel to Amazon EC2 - Netkey, NAT, and routing problem

    - by Ernest Mueller
Hey all, I'm working on getting an IPSec VPN working between Amazon EC2 and my on-premise. The goal is to be able to safely administer stuff, up/download data, etc. over that tunnel. I have gotten the tunnel up in openswan between a Fedora 12 instance with an elastic IP and a Cisco router that's also NATted. I think the ipsec part is OK, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to route traffic that way; there's no "ipsec0" virutal interface because on Amazon you have to use netkey and not KLIPS for the vpn. I hear iptables may be required and I'm an iptables noob. On the left (Amazon), I have a 10. network. Box 1 is privately 10.254.110.A, publically IP 184.73.168.B. Netkey tunnel is up. Box 2 is publically 130.164.26.C, privately 130.164.0.D And my .conf is: conn ni type= tunnel authby= secret left= 10.254.110.A leftid= 184.73.168.B leftnexthop= %defaultroute leftsubnet= 10.254.0.0/32 right= 130.164.26.C rightid= 130.164.0.D rightnexthop= %defaultroute rightsubnet= 130.164.0.0/18 keyexchange= ike pfs= no auto= start keyingtries= 3 disablearrivalcheck=no ikelifetime= 240m auth= esp compress= no keylife= 60m forceencaps= yes esp= 3des-md5 I added a route to box 1 (130.164.0.0/18 via 10.254.110.A dev eth0) but that doesn't do it for predictable reasons, when I traceroute the traffic's still going "around" and not through the vpn. Routing table: 10.254.110.0/23 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 10.254.110.A 130.164.0.0/18 via 10.254.110.178 dev eth0 src 10.254.110.A 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link metric 1002 Anyone know how to do the routing with a netkey ipsec tunnel where both sides are NATted? Thanks...

  • CNAME redirect to Wordpress blog not working (.htaccess problem)

    - by Vincent Chan
I have two domains hosting in two different servers: domain1.com & domain2.com I would like to forward "blog.domain1.com" to "blog2.domain2.com" which is a Wordpress blog using CNAME redirect. Before I installed Wordpress. blog.domain1.com (=redirect=) blog2.domain2.com/index.htm (working fine) The browser will keep the URL (http://blog.domain1.com) even the index.htm is on domain2.com server. However, after I installed Wordpress, the browser will change the URL to (http://blog2.domain2.com) This is my current setup: On domain1.com DNS: blog.domain1.com CNAME redirect to domain2.com on domain2.com .htaccess: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^blog\.domain1\.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://blog2.domain2.com/$1 [R=301,L] on blog2.domain2.com .htaccess: DirectoryIndex index.php <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /blog2/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /blog2/index.php [L] </IfModule> blog2.domain2.com is installed under domain2.com/blog2/ All I want to do is keeping the URL (blog.domain1.com) unchanged for the whole Wordpress redirect. Thanks a lot.
