• Silverlight MVVM conversion from WPF

  I was reading this article - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd419663.aspx And I came across this piece of code in the WPF Demo application that came with the article. This template applies a CustomerView to an instance of the CustomerViewModel class shown in the main window. <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type vm:CustomerViewModel}"> <vw:CustomerView /> </DataTemplate> I substituted the angle brackets for square brackets - not sure how to post them. The code is in the MainWindowResourses.xaml and the code starts on line 19. Anyone know how I can do this in Silverlight ?? We don't have the DataType and I need to be able to tell the app that this View is associated with this ViewModel - so I can create a tab control with different view like the demo app. Cheers, EC

• WPF: HierarchicalDataTemplate ItemsPanel

  I have a TreeView which uses a custom ItemsPanel to show the first level of items in a StackPanel, but I need to show subitems in a StackPanel too. The problem is, the second level of items are shown in a WrapPanel, and as HierarchicalDataTemplate doesn't have an itemsPanel property I'm not sure how to do this. • jQuery/CSS height issues in IE/Chrome

  Hello again, I am back with more problems on my jQuery animated splash / website. You can see the splash which is working in most browsers at voidsync.com/test. The problems I am encountering with IE are the html, body, or #CONTAINER not adjusting to longer content such as in the Services or About pages - you will see the footer does not properly move to the bottom. Refreshing the browser after loading or completing the splash, the pages height adjusts properly to fit the content. Also this works in IE8 with JS disabled, so I know the problem is in there. (except in IE7 or IE8 compatibility mode, where the footer does not move down, period). I can post code here if needed, but im not sure if that is necessary or possible as you may need to see all of the source code to get the right idea. Bonus question The Hosting page has similar problems in Chrome, where the content height does not appear to resize properly on that one page, or the footer becomes overlapped which may be due to the styling used on table elements. • How can I dynamically set the event handler for a TabItem when it is selected?

  In XAML you can do <TabItem Selector.Selected="myEvenHandler"></TabItem> to set the event handler for when that tab is selected. How can I do the exact same thing dynamically. I would prefer not to use the SelectionChanged event of TabControl if I can help it. Clearly there is a Selected event on the TabItem I just cannot seem to get at it in code. Here's what I'd like to do. • Host new WF4 workflows in appfabric

  Hello, I am new to using AppFabric to host WF services. I am trying to write a workflow admin application that will allow users to create xaml workflow definitions using the hosted WF4 designer, and then somehow allow those workflow defitions to be automatically deployed and hosted in AppFabric with the click of a button. I have the designer going, and I have read a couple of tutorials on how to host workflow services in AppFabric such as http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee677238.aspx, but my problem is how to deploy and host the workflow services via code. Does anyone know if this sort of "autodeploy/host" thing can be done with AppFabric? If so, could you point me in the right direction on this? -David

• Assign binding path at runtime in WPF DataTemplate

  I am writing a WPF program in C# in which I have a ListView for which the columns will be populated at runtime. I would like to use a custom DataTemplate for the GridViewColumn objects in the ListView. In the examples I have seen where the number of columns is fixed in advance, a custom DataTemplate is often created using something like the XAML below. <DataTemplate x:Key="someKey"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=FirstName}" /> </DataTemplate> This DataTemplate could also later be assigned to GridViewColumn.CellTemplate in the code-behind by calling FindResource("someKey"). However, this alone is of no use to me, because in this example the Path element is fixed to FirstName. Really I need something where I can set the Path in code. It is my impression that something along these lines may be possible if XamlReader is used, but I'm not sure how in practice I would do this. Any solutions are greatly appreciated.

  I have created a Custom Server Control that renders the SiteMap as a pure UL for CSS styling. At run-time it renders properly but in VS2008 Design View VS shows this error: Error Rendering Control - menuMainAn unhandled exception has occurred. The provider 'AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider' specified for the defaultProvider does not exist in the providers collection. I have 'AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider' specified in web.config as per here : link text While I am happy that the code runs properly, the Designer error is bothersome if the underlying issue might cause the code to break in some circumstances so I need to understand what is going on... The code explicitly references the sitemap in the Render Method with : int level = 1; string ul = string.Format("<div class='{0}' id='{1}'>{2}</div>", CssClassName, this.ID.ToString(), EnumerateNodesRecursive(SiteMap.RootNode, level)); output.Write(ul); and the recursive method called referrences SiteMap.CurrentNode. Otherwise there are no explicit sitemap references in the code. Does anyone have any ideas why Deisgner is complaining?

  I have got an error while trying to upgrade our large project to SL4. I didn't write the original theme and my theme knowlege isn't great. In my demo app I have a Label and a LabelHeader(which i have created and is just a derived class from Label with DefaultStyleKey = typeof(LabelHeader); I am styling lthem like this: <Style TargetType="themeControls:LabelHeader"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <DataInput:Label FontSize="{TemplateBinding FontSize}" FontFamily="{TemplateBinding FontFamily}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="Tahoma"/> <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Red"/> </Style> This works in SL3 but in SL4 I get: Error: Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application Code: 2500 Category: ParserError Message: The property 'Content' was not found in type 'System.Windows.Controls.Control'. File: Line: 9 Position: 168 If I change this: Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" to Content="XXX" Then there is no error but , of course, I get XXX in my label rather than the content I set in XAML on the page Any ideas how I can get this working? • Rotate a feature Image in Open Layers - ReApply StyleMap to layer.

  I have an open layers map. It adds and removes my "imageFeature" every 10secs or so. I have a JSON feed that gives me the rotation that I need, I have a request to get that rotation and set it as a variable of rotationv. Everything works but the fact when the image is recreated it does not update the rotation. My code is as follows: JSON request: var rotationv = (function () { rotationv = null; $.ajax({ 'async': false, 'global': true, 'url': urldefault, 'dataType': "json", 'success': function (data) { rotationv = data.rotation; } }); return rotationv })(); Creating image feature: imageFeature = new OpenLayers.Feature.Vector( new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(mylon, mylat), { rotation: rotationv } ); The image is set in the styling elsewhere. Why does this not rotate my image? Debugging with firebug I now notice that "rotationv" is updating as per it should be. But when the point is destroyed then added again it does not apply the new rotation... Add: I realised that the "image" is applied as per the layer. So I need to figure out how to re apply the stylemap to the layer so it will trigger the "update" on the page. //redefine layer 2 so it can be updated - test.js is just a 0.0 ref// var layer2 = new OpenLayers.Layer.GML("Layer 2", "test.js", { format: OpenLayers.Format.GeoJSON, styleMap: styleMap }); But even if I add the above into my function still no luck. Included map.addLayers([layer2]); into the function as well. • Solve the IE select overlap bug

  When using IE, you cannot put an absolutely positioned div over a select input element. That's because the select element is considered an ActiveX object and is on top of every HTML element in the page. I already saw people hiding selects when opening a popup div, that leads to pretty bad user experience having controls disappearing. FogBugz actually had a pretty smart solution (before v6) of turning every select into text boxes when a popup was displayed. This solved the bug and tricked the user eye but the behavior was not perfect. Another solution is in FogBugz 6 where they no more use the select element and recoded it everywhere. Last solution I currently use is messing up the IE rendering engine and force it to render the absolutely positioned div as an ActiveX element too, ensuring it can live over a select element. This is achieved by placing an invisible iframe inside the div and styling it with: #MyDiv iframe { position: absolute; z-index: -1; filter: mask(); border: 0; margin: 0; padding: 0; top: 0; left: 0; width: 9999px; height: 9999px; overflow: hidden; } Anyone has a even better solution than this one ? EDIT: The purpose of this question is as much informative as it is a real question. I find the iframe trick to be a good solution but I am still looking for improvement like removing this ugly useless iframe tag that degrade accessibility.

Also the ListView.Items doesn't help, because that (of course) contains my bound business objects and no ListViewItems. Neither does myList.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(item), which also returns null.

• Can a ScatterViewItem dynamically resize to fit its content?

  We're hosting a control inside of a ScatterViewItem that dynamically changes its size at runtime as a result of having various sub-elements added, removed, and/or collapsed. We would like to have the hosting ScatterViewItem resize as well to properly fit its child controls, but we're having a hard time making this happen. We've tried a number of different things and the closest we've come is hooking into the child control's SizeChanged event and explicitly setting the ScatterViewItem's Width and Height, but this approach still has issues. When you define a ScatterViewItem and its content in XAML, the ScatterViewItem is sized appropriately. We would like to force the same behavior at runtime when its content changes size. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• Pagination in Joomla!

  Hi every one. I'm a bit new to Joomla! and I'm building my new web site using Joomla! 1.5.8 with a template bought from RocketTheme. The long article in question is a gallery of photos, and I wanted to create a horizontal pagination nav-bar in the footer of the gallery, I just clicked pagebreak where I wanted to paginate in my article in the WYSIWYG editor and thought that it's actually all I have to do. What I got was ugly; a vertically directed navigation bar placed in the top right side of my gallery with the links to each part of the article, the all without the minimum styling. And as I see it's a table! Why not outputting a list instead of a table! (Well this is not actually my concern right now). I can understand CSS and html, but I'm not really a PHP guy, so I don't understand how to use pagination.php or pagenavigation.php! Do I have to customize one of them to have my nav-bar? What I have to do to get that horizontal nav-bar? Really thanks in advance. Wassim

• Magento started showing PHP language errors since I downloaded the blank theme using Connect

  I used the Magento Connect downloader to install the blank theme extension, but I did not switch to it as I was unable to access any-page anymore. Instead, it started showing php errors for front-end and Magento generated security errors for admin. Frontend Error: Fatal error: Call to a member function toHtml() on a non-object in D:\xampp\htdocs\newpinch\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Layout.php on line 529 Admin error on Log-in: There has been an error processing your request Exception printing is disabled by default for security reasons. Error log record number: 1608724822 Link to the theme extension I installed. I didn't even change the theme from the default, can anyone please tell me what am I doing wrong. I just installed the theme and then clicked on "Return to admin" in Magento Connect but it was unable to go instead started refreshed the Magento Connect page, only this time without any CSS styling. The only page that still appears correctly is the admin log-in page. Please help me, I have already tried the forums at magentocommerce.com and their community sucks. 0 views & 0 replies. please help...

The validation is not executed. Can anybody just press me against the place where my error lies?

• IoC and Design Time

  I have a WPF application which I am using to learn MVVM and IoC. The problem is that the Model used by one of the Views expects to pull one of its dependancies in the constructor from an IoC container. When working on this View in the Visual Studio designer it cannot show the design because an exception is being raised in the model. Is there a way around this? Am I pulling my dependancies in the wrong place in code or is there a way I can pass in constructed dependancies, perhaps through Constructor injection. • WPF - expander Collapsed event being triggered by child controls with validation

  I have an expander that contains an ItemsControl. The items in the itemsControl are templated, some have textboxes in them, others have checkboxes. Both have bindings that cause validation. The styling and validation is working as expected. The problem is when I first expand the expander and cause a change to either control, the expander collapses again, this is not what I want. If I repeat this a second time this does not happen. I'm not sure what is triggering this strange behaviour. I've tried setting the focus to the itemsControl when the expander expands with no luck. What is differnt the second time it's expanded? Could it be the validation? Any Ideas? • Having trouble adding jquery to charisma

  I am trying to add some jquery to this Charisma admin panel and have been having nothing but trouble. I am trying to add it to the charisma.js file. This is what I am adding // add multiple select / deselect functionality $("#selectall").click(function () { $('.checkbox').attr('checked', this.checked); }); // if all checkbox are selected, check the selectall checkbox // and viceversa $(".checkbox").click(function(){ if($(".checkbox").length == $(".checkbox:checked").length) { $("#selectall").attr("checked", "checked"); } else { $("#selectall").removeAttr("checked"); } }); I have tried this code wrapped in the anonymous $(function(){ as well as without, and I have inserted it into both $(document).ready(function(){ and docReady() as well as in the head of my code but I am not really "trained" on jquery so I am a bit lost as to what I am doing wrong. My class and div tags are correct for the code, as I have checked them several times for misspellings. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is there a better "check" all code I can use here, or am I just putting this all in the wrong place? UPDATE: I think the actual code may be working, I cannot tell, after I click the select all box it seems that I have to click the other boxes 3 times to get the check mark back into the box, so it seems like it is having trouble actually showing that the box is marked. This may be a problem with styling, but I don't know how to correct it.

• How2 display Image from DB in datagrid?

  Hope it's not yet been answered, but I've googled for quite a long time, and I've not been able to get it working. In brief, I've a SL4 page with a DataGrid filled accordingly to parameters passed from the previous page, so I fill the context in code, with a "RIA" query (w/parameters as well). So far, so good. I get the XAML declared columns as expected but the Photo templated column, which holds just an image control. I think I can use the LoadingRow event, but can some1 give me some code on how to get my goal (image is in in the context from DB)? Thanks in advance
