  • Best way to get ints from a string with whitespace?

    - by befall
    Hey all, I know this is simple, I just can't recall the best way to do this. I have an input like " 5 15 " that defines the x and y of a 2D vector array. I simply need those two numbers into int col and int row. What's the best way to do this? I was attemping stringstreams, but can't figure out the correct code. Thanks for any help!

  • Fluid iPhone Animation ala Plants vs Zombies

    - by RyJ
    If you've played Plants vs Zombies, you've seen how fluid and remarkable the character animation is. Can anyone assume how they are doing this? They don't seem to simply be animating bitmaps; the animation is too crisp, even as characters rotate and scale. The artwork looks vector, but I can't imagine that everything is drawn out using Core Graphics. Any ideas?

  • Error compiling / linking e text editor on Linux

  • Macro doesn't work in the function.

    - by avp
    I have problems with following code: http://lisper.ru/apps/format/96 The problem is in "normalize" function, which does not work. It fails on the fifth line: (zero-p a indexes i) (defun normalize (a &optional indexes i) "Returns normalized A." (pragma (format t "Data=~A ~A ~A" a indexes i) (if (zero-p a indexes i) a ;; cannot normalize empty vector (let* ((mmm (format t "Zero?=~a" (zero-p a indexes i))) (L (sqrt (+ (do-op-on * a :x a :x indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :y a :y indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :z a :z indexes i indexes i)))) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L)) (L (/ 1D0 L)) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L))) ; L=1/length(A) (make-V3 (* (ref-of a :x indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :y indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :z indexes i) l)))))) in function "normalize" I call the macro "zero-p", which in turn calls macro "ref-of", which is the last in the chain. (defmacro zero-p (v &optional indexes index) "Checks if the vector is 'almost' zero length." `(and (< (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (> (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min-*))) Here is ref-of: (defmacro ref-of (values coordinate &optional indexes index) "Please see DATA STRUCTURE for details." (if indexes (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values (aref ,indexes ,index))) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values (+ 1 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values (+ 2 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))) (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values 0)) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values 1)) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values 2)) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))))) Also, in "normalize" I call the macro "do-op-on", which calls "ref-of" as well. (defmacro do-op-on (op name1 coord1 name2 coord2 &optional is1 i1 is2 i2) "Example: (do-op-on * A :x B :y i n) == A[i[n]].x*B.y" `(,op (ref-of ,name1 ,coord1 ,is1 ,i1) (ref-of ,name2 ,coord2 ,is2 ,i2))) As a result, instead of having this: (aref some-array 0) I have (aref NIL NIL) which is created in "ref-of". I suppose that I lose the symbol A from the call (normalize A). I just feel that the symbol does not survive the macroexpanson. The thing is, macroexpansoin works in REPL for each macro independently. Can anyone explain where is the mistake?

  • creating objects from trivial graph format text file. java. dijkstra algorithm.

    - by user560084
    i want to create objects, vertex and edge, from trivial graph format txt file. one of programmers here suggested that i use trivial graph format to store data for dijkstra algorithm. the problem is that at the moment all the information, e.g., weight, links, is in the sourcecode. i want to have a separate text file for that and read it into the program. i thought about using a code for scanning through the text file by using scanner. but i am not quite sure how to create different objects from the same file. could i have some help please? the file is v0 Harrisburg v1 Baltimore v2 Washington v3 Philadelphia v4 Binghamton v5 Allentown v6 New York # v0 v1 79.83 v0 v5 81.15 v1 v0 79.75 v1 v2 39.42 v1 v3 103.00 v2 v1 38.65 v3 v1 102.53 v3 v5 61.44 v3 v6 96.79 v4 v5 133.04 v5 v0 81.77 v5 v3 62.05 v5 v4 134.47 v5 v6 91.63 v6 v3 97.24 v6 v5 87.94 and the dijkstra algorithm code is Downloaded from: http://en.literateprograms.org/Special:Downloadcode/Dijkstra%27s_algorithm_%28Java%29 */ import java.util.PriorityQueue; import java.util.List; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Collections; class Vertex implements Comparable<Vertex> { public final String name; public Edge[] adjacencies; public double minDistance = Double.POSITIVE_INFINITY; public Vertex previous; public Vertex(String argName) { name = argName; } public String toString() { return name; } public int compareTo(Vertex other) { return Double.compare(minDistance, other.minDistance); } } class Edge { public final Vertex target; public final double weight; public Edge(Vertex argTarget, double argWeight) { target = argTarget; weight = argWeight; } } public class Dijkstra { public static void computePaths(Vertex source) { source.minDistance = 0.; PriorityQueue<Vertex> vertexQueue = new PriorityQueue<Vertex>(); vertexQueue.add(source); while (!vertexQueue.isEmpty()) { Vertex u = vertexQueue.poll(); // Visit each edge exiting u for (Edge e : u.adjacencies) { Vertex v = e.target; double weight = e.weight; double distanceThroughU = u.minDistance + weight; if (distanceThroughU < v.minDistance) { vertexQueue.remove(v); v.minDistance = distanceThroughU ; v.previous = u; vertexQueue.add(v); } } } } public static List<Vertex> getShortestPathTo(Vertex target) { List<Vertex> path = new ArrayList<Vertex>(); for (Vertex vertex = target; vertex != null; vertex = vertex.previous) path.add(vertex); Collections.reverse(path); return path; } public static void main(String[] args) { Vertex v0 = new Vertex("Nottinghill_Gate"); Vertex v1 = new Vertex("High_Street_kensignton"); Vertex v2 = new Vertex("Glouchester_Road"); Vertex v3 = new Vertex("South_Kensignton"); Vertex v4 = new Vertex("Sloane_Square"); Vertex v5 = new Vertex("Victoria"); Vertex v6 = new Vertex("Westminster"); v0.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v1, 79.83), new Edge(v6, 97.24)}; v1.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v2, 39.42), new Edge(v0, 79.83)}; v2.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v3, 38.65), new Edge(v1, 39.42)}; v3.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v4, 102.53), new Edge(v2, 38.65)}; v4.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v5, 133.04), new Edge(v3, 102.53)}; v5.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v6, 81.77), new Edge(v4, 133.04)}; v6.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v0, 97.24), new Edge(v5, 81.77)}; Vertex[] vertices = { v0, v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, v6 }; computePaths(v0); for (Vertex v : vertices) { System.out.println("Distance to " + v + ": " + v.minDistance); List<Vertex> path = getShortestPathTo(v); System.out.println("Path: " + path); } } } and the code for scanning file is import java.util.Scanner; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; public class DataScanner1 { //private int total = 0; //private int distance = 0; private String vector; private String stations; private double [] Edge = new double []; /*public int getTotal(){ return total; } */ /* public void getMenuInput(){ KeyboardInput in = new KeyboardInput; System.out.println("Enter the destination?   • Sequence reduction in R

    - by drknexus
    Assume you have a vector like so: v <- c(1,1,1,2,2,2,2,1,1,3,3,3,3) How can it be best reduced to a data.frame like this? v.df <- data.frame(value=c(1,2,1,3),repetitions=c(3,4,2,4)) In a procedural language I might just iterate through a loop and build the data.frame as I go, but with a large dataset in R such an approach is inefficient. Any advice?

  • [C++] Index strings by other strings

    - by mcco
    Hello, I need to index specific strings with other strings and I can't really find a good way to do so. I tried to use tr1::unordered_map, but I'm having some difficulties using it. If someone could tell me what is the best way to do that I'd be really grateful :) I also need to index objects by a number (numbers are not in order so I can't use a vector)

  • MATLAB: vectorized array creation from a list of start/end indices

    - by merv
    I have a two-column matrix M that contains the start/end indices of a bunch of intervals: startInd EndInd 1 3 6 10 12 12 15 16 How can I generate a vector of all the interval indices: v = [1 2 3 6 7 8 9 10 12 15 16]; I'm doing the above using loops, but I'm wondering if there's a more elegant vectorized solution? v = []; for i=1:size(M,1) v = [v M(i,1):M(i,2)]; end

  • Converting .eps to .jpg

    - by Slinky
    Our print team saves raster images as .eps files. We need to convert about 11000 .eps to .jpg. We are using ImageMagick (with Ghostprint) on Linux. The conversion occurs but the resulting .jpg is not the same size as the source .eps - It's about 1/2 the size. Probably a problem converting a vector to a raster. Any way to solve this?

  • How to fit the paper-size to the content in LaTeX

    - by mef
    Hi, I'd like to create a pdf/ps/eps that contains only one single formula. I thought the easiest way would be to use latex. Unfortunately, I found no option to specify, that the paper-size should automatically be set to fit the contents. I found that dvipng has a "-T tight" option, that actually does the trick, but... I want it in vector-graphics format. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • I need help with this ogre dependent header (Qgears)

    - by commodore
    I'm 2 errors away from compiling Qgears. (Hacked Version of the Final Fantasy VII Engine) I've messed with the preprocessors to load the actual location of the ogre header files. Here are the errors: ||=== qgears, Debug ===| /home/cj/Desktop/qgears/trunk/project/linux/src/core/TextManager.h|48|error: invalid use of ‘::’| /home/cj/Desktop/qgears/trunk/project/linux/src/core/TextManager.h|48|error: expected ‘;’ before ‘m_LanguageRoot’| ||=== Build finished: 2 errors, 0 warnings ===| Here's the header file: // $Id$ #ifndef TEXT_MANAGER_h #define TEXT_MANAGER_h #include <OGRE/OgreString.h> #include <OGRE/OgreUTFString.h> #include <map> struct TextData { TextData(): text(""), width(0), height(0) { } Ogre::String name; Ogre::UTFString text; int width; int height; }; typedef std::vector<TextData> TextDataVector; class TextManager { public: TextManager(void); virtual ~TextManager(void); void SetLanguageRoot(const Ogre::String& root); void LoadTexts(const Ogre::String& file_name); void UnloadTexts(const Ogre::String& file_name); const TextData GetText(const Ogre::String& name); private: struct TextBlock { Ogre::String block_name; std::vector<TextData> text; } Ogre::String m_LanguageRoot; // Line #48 std::list<TextBlock> m_Texts; }; extern TextManager* g_TextManager; #endif // TEXT_MANAGER_h The only header file that's in include that's not a ogre header file is "map". If it helps, I'm using the Code::Blocks IDE/GCC Compiler in GNU/Linux. (Arch) I'm not sure even if I get this header fixed, I think I'll have build errors latter, but it's worth a shot. Edit: I added the semicolon and I have one more error in the header file: error: expected unqualified-id before ‘{’ token

  • Do any JS implementations currently support (or have support on the roadmap for) fast, vectorized op

    - by agnoster
    I'd like to do a bit of matrix/vector arithmetic in JavaScript, and was wondering if any browsers or other JS implementations actually have support for vectorized operations, for instance for quickly summing the entries of two Arrays (or summing, or whatever). Even if that currently doesn't mean it compiles down to vectorized operations, at least some language support would be nice for when it does get implemented - I'd take the existence of functions or syntax to support it as a step in the right direction. (Understandably, "vectorization javascript" searches are pretty much all about graphics and SVG.)

  • Real time complex raster image morphing in Flash CS4

    - by cosmorocket
    Is there a way to load an image from some url or a local folder and then make some complex morphing to it in real time? For example, I have a vector animated pseudo 3D paper in my project that, for example, is being flipped different ways. Then I want to place some image inside that paper box and want to morph that image accordingly to the box form changes or at least make it look more realistically, not exactly the same as the paper box. Thanks.

  • Why is my boot loader's stack segment at 0x3FF (end of Real Mode IVT)?

To me the most intuitive place for SP would be right below 0x7c00. Thanks.

  • wrapping boost::ublas with swig

    - by leon
    I am trying to pass data around the numpy and boost::ublas layers. I have written an ultra thin wrapper because swig cannot parse ublas' header correctly. The code is shown below #include <boost/numeric/ublas/vector.hpp> #include <boost/numeric/ublas/matrix.hpp> #include <boost/lexical_cast.hpp> #include <algorithm> #include <sstream> #include <string> using std::copy; using namespace boost; typedef boost::numeric::ublas::matrix<double> dm; typedef boost::numeric::ublas::vector<double> dv; class dvector : public dv{ public: dvector(const int rhs):dv(rhs){;}; dvector(); dvector(const int size, double* ptr):dv(size){ copy(ptr, ptr+sizeof(double)*size, &(dv::data()[0])); } ~dvector(){} }; with the SWIG interface that looks something like %apply(int DIM1, double* INPLACE_ARRAY1) {(const int size, double* ptr)} class dvector{ public: dvector(const int rhs); dvector(); dvector(const int size, double* ptr); %newobject toString; char* toString(); ~dvector(); }; I have compiled them successfully via gcc 4.3 and vc++9.0. However when I simply run a = dvector(array([1.,2.,3.])) it gives me a segfault. This is the first time I use swigh with numpy and not have fully understanding between the data conversion and memory buffer passing. Does anyone see something obvious I have missed? I have tried to trace through with a debugger but it crashed within the assmeblys of python.exe. I have no clue if this is a swig problem or of my simple wrapper. Anything is appreciated.

  • R: How to plot data grouped by a factor, but not as a boxplot

    In R, given a vector casp6 <- c(0.9478638, 0.7477657, 0.9742675, 0.9008372, 0.4873001, 0.5097587, 0.6476510, 0.4552577, 0.5578296, 0.5728478, 0.1927945, 0.2624068, 0.2732615) and a factor: trans.factor <- factor (rep (c("t0", "t12", "t24", "t72"), c(4,3,3,3))) I want to create a plot where the data points are grouped as defined by the factor. So the categories should be on the x-axis, values in the same category should have the same x coordinate. Simply doing plot(trans.factor, casp6) does almost what I want, it produces a boxplot, but I want to see the individual data points.

  • c++ stl priority queue insert bad_alloc exception

    - by bsg
    Hi, I am working on a query processor that reads in long lists of document id's from memory and looks for matching id's. When it finds one, it creates a DOC struct containing the docid (an int) and the document's rank (a double) and pushes it on to a priority queue. My problem is that when the word(s) searched for has a long list, when I try to push the DOC on to the queue, I get the following exception: Unhandled exception at 0x7c812afb in QueryProcessor.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::bad_alloc at memory location 0x0012ee88.. When the word has a short list, it works fine. I tried pushing DOC's onto the queue in several places in my code, and they all work until a certain line; after that, I get the above error. I am completely at a loss as to what is wrong because the longest list read in is less than 1 MB and I free all memory that I allocate. Why should there suddenly be a bad_alloc exception when I try to push a DOC onto a queue that has a capacity to hold it (I used a vector with enough space reserved as the underlying data structure for the priority queue)? I know that questions like this are almost impossible to answer without seeing all the code, but it's too long to post here. I'm putting as much as I can and am anxiously hoping that someone can give me an answer, because I am at my wits' end. The NextGEQ function is too long to put here, but it reads a list of compressed blocks of docids block by block. That is, if it sees that the lastdocid in the block (in a separate list) is larger than the docid passed in, it decompresses the block and searches until it finds the right one. If it sees that it was already decompressed, it just searches. Below, when I call the function the first time, it decompresses a block and finds the docid; the push onto the queue after that works. The second time, it doesn't even need to decompress; that is, no new memory is allocated, but after that time, pushing on to the queue gives a bad_alloc error. struct DOC{ long int docid; long double rank; public: DOC() { docid = 0; rank = 0.0; } DOC(int num, double ranking) { docid = num; rank = ranking; } bool operator>( const DOC & d ) const { return rank > d.rank; } bool operator<( const DOC & d ) const { return rank < d.rank; } }; struct listnode{ int* metapointer; int* blockpointer; int docposition; int frequency; int numberdocs; int* iquery; listnode* nextnode; }; void QUERYMANAGER::SubmitQuery(char *query){ vector<DOC> docvec; docvec.reserve(20); DOC doct; //create a priority queue to use as a min-heap to store the documents and rankings; //although the priority queue uses the heap as its underlying data structure, //I found it easier to use the STL priority queue implementation priority_queue<DOC, vector<DOC>,std::greater<DOC>> q(docvec.begin(), docvec.end()); q.push(doct); //do some processing here; startlist is a pointer to a listnode struct that starts the //linked list cout << "Opening lists:" << endl; //point the linked list start pointer to the node returned by the OpenList method startlist = &OpenList(value); listnode* minpointer; q.push(doct); //more processing here; else{ //start by finding the first docid in the shortest list int i = 0; q.push(doct); num = NextGEQ(0, *startlist); q.push(doct); while(num != -1) cout << "finding nextGEQ from shortest list" << endl; q.push(doct); //the is where the problem starts - every previous q.push(doct) works; the one after //NextGEQ(num +1, *startlist) gives the bad_alloc error num = NextGEQ(num + 1, *startlist); q.push(doct); //if you didn't break out of the loop; i.e., all lists contain a matching docid, //calculate the document's rank; if it's one of the top 20, create a struct //containing the docid and the rank and add it to the priority queue if(!loop) { cout << "found match" << endl; if(num < 0) { cout << "reached end of list" << endl; //reached the end of the shortest list; close the list CloseList(startlist); break; } rank = calculateRanking(table, num); try{ //if the heap is not full, create a DOC struct with the docid and //rank and add it to the heap if(q.size() < 20) { doc.docid = num; doc.rank = rank; q.push(doct); q.push(doc); } } catch (exception& e) { cout << e.what() << endl; } } } Thank you very much, bsg.
