  • SQLCMD Restore works in Management Studio but not from DOS prompt

    Any idea why my Restore command works fine when run in Management Studio 2008 but not when run from the dos prompt? Shown below is the error when running from the dos prompt. I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

    Hello, In an application I'm designing, the user has to be able to specify rather complex event scheduling (continuous time-block vs. daily time-blocks, exception date/times, recurrence patterns etc.) Does anyone know of a good design page for such a thing online? For example, I was highly impressed with this page's description of how to do database audit trails, and would love something similar. Thanks.

    We are using a dedicated hosting provider to host several of our public websites. There are two development teams/divisions within our company who each maintain public websites on these same servers. Is there a way through ACLs or some sort of rights management (e.g. individual logins) that I would only be able to see and maintain only my public sites and the other development team could only see and maintain their sites?     Hello everyone! I'm trying to create annual, all-day events with VBA in outlook 2007. I use the following code, but no matter which conbination of Start, StartDate, End, etc I use, it won't create a whole-day event. Either it gives it default start/end times, or it remove the all-day attribute... Dim Birthday As Date 'Get the birthday '... Dim BDay As AppointmentItem Dim Pattern As Outlook.RecurrencePattern Set BDay = Application.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem) Set Pattern = BDay.GetRecurrencePattern Pattern.RecurrenceType = olRecursYearly Pattern.DayOfMonth = Day(Birthday) Pattern.MonthOfYear = Month(Birthday) Pattern.PatternStartDate = Birthday Pattern.NoEndDate = True BDay.AllDayEvent = True BDay.Subject = Contact.FullName BDay.Save When created directly in outlook, entries start on the birth day and end 24 hours later. Yet trying to set Start and End this way results in errors. Plus, entries created outlook have no start/end time in the recurrence pattern (well, they are all-day entries...) Ideas, anybody? Thanks!

    I am using Joda Time library to convert my String dates to a real date, because this seemed like the easiest solution to do this. I see a number of tutorials about doing this, but the ones I've seen don't have any input parameters going into the SP. My SP has several, and an output parameter as well.     I'm considering building a Church Management System (ChMS), essentially a CRM, but specifically tailored for churches. I've looked at several existing CRM and open source ChMS solutions but have not been satisfied with any of them. Before I start writing something from the ground up - I was wondering if anyone was aware of an open source asp.net application that might be a good fit for this project? Particularly, the application needs to perform CRUD and optimally allow for dynamic user-based creation/editing of fields associated with contacts etc.

  • Representing a schedule in a database

    I have the interesting problem of representing complex schedule data in a database. I need to be able to represent the entirety of what the iCalendar (ics) format can represent, but in my database. I don't care about insertion efficiency but query efficiency is critical. The operation I will be doing most often is providing either a single date/time or a date/time range, and trying to determine if the defined schedule matches any part of the date/time range. Other operations can be slower. For those unfamiliar, ics allows representation of a single event or a reoccuring event based on multiple times per day, days of the week, week of a month, month, year, or some combination of those. For example, the third Thursday in November, or the 25th of December, or every two weeks starting November 2nd and continuing until September the following year. Any suggestions?

  • Web-Frameworks for Education Management Systems?

    So, I'm working on an idea and I'll go into a brief overview of that but my question is, What are some good web frameworks for this situation? I have some experience in the following languages: C# Python I have considerably more experience in C# than Python, however I am expecting to learn new things. My idea is this, a completely web-based community-oriented Education Management System that focuses on making students and teachers day-to-day lives easier. For students it will provide a centralized place for them to do homework, study for tests, and reinforce concepts learned previously in class. For teachers it will give them a centralized place to handle assignments, attendance, homework, tests, and all other major parts of classroom management. All of that, but in a community-oriented fashion. Everything a teacher does is shared and open to constructive criticism, allowing other teachers to use their assignments/tests and for students or other teachers to comment, rate and criticize their assignments. This encourages an environment of openness that will allow teacher's to focus on teaching and student's to focus on learning. And that community wouldn't be limited to one school or school-district, this system would be completely school-independent. Please note that I have no problem with hearing constructive criticism on this idea, however I would prefer if this post was more focused on my question. I have somewhat explored about the following options: Django ASP.NET Ruby on Rails Silverlight (1) I have Django installed and I played with it for a little bit, I really like how easy setting up databases are and how it handles the database completely for you. I don't really know how to use it very well and I don't quite understand the Model-View-Controller paradigm(?) for it yet but I haven't thought about it much. I also like the fact that it uses Python. (2) I don't really like Visual Studio for developing in ASP.NET, I hate the way the web-designer works and it just feels clunky and old. I like the server-side development part though. I don't like how expensive ASP.NET and overall Visual Studio is, even if I do get it for free for now using DreamSpark (3) I haven't been able to explore much with this, I could not get Rails (or maybe Ruby) properly installed. I first installed it within RadRails and that didn't work so I uninstalled RadRails and then installed the latest version of Ruby off the official Windows Installer and then installed Ruby on Rails through gem and even after all that it still didn't work, so I installed Netbeans and attempted to use it there but it still did not work (4) I like Silverlight in some extents, I've played with this one the most, it's very similar to WPF (which I've used the most) in a lot of ways but I don't like how database connectivity works, at least in comparison to Django. I also dislike how expensive everything with Microsoft is, even if I get it for free for now with DreamSpark. I would like to hear some suggestions from experienced web-developers as to what I should use and why, or at least what some good options are for my scenario Your help would be very appreciated

    I am creating a event using Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_EDIT); intent.setType("vnd.android.cursor.item/event"); And invoking the intent using startActivityForResult(intent, Constants.LINK_CALENDER); There is nothing returned to call in onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) It always returns data=null ie., returned intent result is always null. I am trying to retrieve the "Done/Revert" state of calender event just created and some identity so that i can open the event again in future from elsewhere in code.
