• CruiseControl failing view compilation with Asp.net MVC 2 RTM

  Tehnologies: - CruiseControlNet - Asp.net MVC 2 RTM - enabled view compilation The problem is UrlParameter.Optional setting. I can't seem to make it work when I use this setting inside a view. When I compile inside Visual Studio, everything works fine, but when CCNet uses MSBuild to compile it it fails with following error: errorCS0103: The name 'UrlParameter' does not exist in the current context pointing to the line inside my view where this parameter is set on: Html.RenderAction(...) that sets certain route parameter(s) to optional. I tried adding <%@ Assembly name="System.Web.Mvc" %> at the top of my view, but it didn't work either. It works of course when I disable view compilation, but that's not really an option. And I also don't want to set my optional parameters to string.Empty. Anyone has any hint on this?

• ASP.Net Count Download Clicks

  Hello, I thought that this was easier… I have a asp:hyperlink control, with target=”_blank”, pointing to the file I want the user to download. My plan is to track the number of times, the users click on this link. I thought in placing it in ajax update panel, to catch the postback and avoid full page refresh. However, hyperlink doesn’t have a onClick method. On the other hand I could use a linkbutton, which has a onClick built in. But It’s harder to make the file open in a new window… and I would also have to do something like: Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=myImage.jpg"); But I heard that the above approach has some problems with PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX… What is you'r opinion on this? How and why, would you do it?

• Many RewriteBase in one .htaccess file?

  Hello I have a domain and a wordpress-blog on same server. Now I have a problem (surprise). The wordpress is located on /httpdocs/blog/ and domain is pointing to /httpdocs/ and I'm trying to redirect it to /httpdocs/domain/. But, obvisiously, I have permalinks in Wordpress. Here's my current .htaccess: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /blog/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L] RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} domain.com RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/domain RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/cgi-bin RewriteRule ^(.*)$ domain/$1 [L] But as you already propably assumed, this doesn't work.   I am writing some Selenium tests and I need to be able to find an ancestor of a WebElement that I have already found.   I'm making some tedious calls to a bunch of functions, but the parameters will be determined at runtime. I wrote a simple function to keep my code DRY but giving it a name is unnecessary. I don't use this function anywhere else. I'm trying to do it the way I would in Scheme, but I get a void-function error: (let ((do-work (lambda (x y z) (do-x x) (do-y y) ;; etc ))) (cond (test-1 (do-work 'a 'b 'c)) (test-2 (do-work 'i 'j 'k)))) I could stick it all into an apply (e.g., (apply (lambda ...) (cond ...))) but that isn't very readable. Is there a better way?

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the Visual Studio 2010 Express editions to set up an ASP.NET MVC 2 Web Application using SqlExpress + Entity Framework as the data access. I have both the "C# Edition" and "Web Developer Edition" installed. If I try to add a data source using the "C# edition", I'm missing the "Microsoft SQL Server" data source type. but Visual Studio 2008 Professional has it. as noted by another StackOverflow question, the "Web Developer Edition" has this. However, the Web Developer Edition doesn't support the Entity Framework items: . I'd want to stick with only the Express Editions. Is my use case one that Microsoft forgot about? What can I do here to use SqlExpress + MVC 2 + Entity Framework? Thanks! -Mike

• NO-SQL reliable for small bussines app?

  I'm deciding between go for a NON-SQL engine or a regular SQL one for a document managment system for small bussines. I have experience with firebird/sql server and found a good track of reliability (specially with firebird). This market is full of crappy "servers" (clon-made PC, the mayority), cheap harddisk, rarely use of RAID or anything like that, some are in locations where a power-off is normal, some not have a UPS, etc... (I will include off-site auto-backup to external servers, but that no change the internal setup). (I know about end-user education about such proper setups, but is stupid depend on that, so stick to te point) From the desing point of view, a schema-less database is the way to go for my system, but, I worry if any of the actual solutions (MongoDb, Tokyo Cabinet, etc) are like firebird and survice crash, malfunctions & abuse so data corruption is very rare. The plan is store the office documents there & provide a central repository.

• How can I de-install a Perl module installed via `cpan`?

  I am using Perl running in user space (not installed via root) and installing modules via the command-line cpan. I would like to know if there is a simple way to remove a module without having to do a lot of work deleting individual files. I searched for this question on the internet and found some answers, but the answers I've found seem to either discuss using the Perl package manager (specific for Microsoft Windows), otherwise operating-system specific (BSDpan), suggesting using cpanplus (which I've had several bad experiences with), or ended by pointing to a dead link as follows: http://www.cpan.org/misc/cpan-faq.html#How_delete_Perl_modules. My question is specifically whether there is a clean way to remove a module installed via cpan.

• How do i write a sql query with user input and wildcards

  Usually i write my where statements as WHERE key=@0 then add a param. Now i would like the user to specific a few letters such as 'oat' and would like to stick wildcards around it %oat% which matches 'coating'. So how do i write the query so wildcards are around the user input (the 'seachword'). Now lets take it a step further. I would not like the user to write % so he cannot do blah%ing. Perhaps % is part of the sentence (or it could be flat out illegal but i prefer it be part of the sentence). How do i put my wildcards around a word or sentence and disallow the user from putting the wildcard between his words? (and preferably make % part of the sentence) C# ado.net sql/sqlite

  Hello, I'm trying to pass the user on to the interface based on their cell selection in the UITableView, ie, if the user selects cell 1, they are taken to view model 2, containing UIWebView. UIWebView then displays local file, cell1.html. Currently, I've manage to get placeholder using: selectedCellText.text = selectedCell; to display the name of the cell selected. How do I get it to directly pass to the UIWebView, stick UIWebView in the interface and link it using: UIWebView *myWebView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; NSBundle *mainBundle = [NSBundle mainBundle]; NSString *stringUrl = [mainBundle pathForResource:@"selectedCell" ofType:@"html"]; NSURL *baseUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:stringUrl]; NSURLRequest *urlRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:baseUrl]; [myWebView loadRequest:urlRequest]; My other issue is that some of the cell names have spaces in them, and for simplicity, I'd like to ensure that there are no spaces (actually, will it even work with spaces in the name, I assume with %20 ? • AD-Integrated DNS failure: "Access was Denied"

  I have a single Windows 2008 R2 server configured as a domain controller with Active Directory Domain Services and DNS Server. The DNS Server was recently uninstalled and reinstalled in an attempt to fix a (possibly unrelated) problem; the event log was previously flooded with errors (#4000, "The DNS Server was unable to open Active Directory...") which reinstalling did not fix. However, while before it was at least showing and resolving names from the local network (slowly), now it's showing nothing at all. (The original error started with a #4015 error "The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory," followed by a long string of #4000 and a few #4004. This may have been caused when a new DNS name was recently added, but I can't be sure of the timing.) Attempting to manage the DNS through Administrative Tools > DNS brings up an error: The server SERVERNAME could not be contacted. The error was: Access was denied. Would you like to add it anyway? Selecting yes just puts a SERVERNAME item on the list, but with all the configuration options grayed out. I attempted editing my hosts file as per this post but to no avail. Running dcdiag, it does identify the home server properly, but fails right away testing connectivity with: Starting test: Connectivity The host blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda could not be resolved to an IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc. Got error while checking LDAP and RPC connectivity. Please check your firewall settings. ......................... SERVERNAME failed test Connectivity Adding the blahblahblahyaddayaddayadda address to hosts (pointing at 127.0.0.1), the connectivity test succeeded but it didn't seem to solve the fundamental problem (Access was denied) so I hashed it out again. Primary DNS server is properly pointing at 127.0.0.1 according to ipconfig /all. And the DNS server is forwarding requests to external addresses properly (if slowly), but the resolving of local network names is borked. The DNS database itself is small enough that I am (grudgingly) able to rebuild it if need be, but the DNS Server doesn't seem willing to let me work with (or around) it at all. (and yes before you ask there are no system backups available) Where do I go from here?   Let's say I have a Model, for example User, and I want to merge two instances of this Model, say merge User2 into User1. Explicitly this is what I mean: If a field is already filled in User1, it should remain the same If a field is missing in User1 but is present in User2, it should be copied If SomeModel BelongsTo User, every instance of SomeModel pointing to User2 should be modified to point to User1 Same if SomeModel HasAndBelongsToMany User If SomeModel HasMany User, and SomeModel1 Has User2 but no other instance Has User1, it should be modified so that SomeModel1 has User1 instead If SomeModel HasMany User, SomeModel1 Has User1 and SomeModel2 Has User2... well, I'm not sure here, I guess the only solution is to discard SomeModel2, since User1 can BelongTo only one SomeModel. Finally User2 should be removed. Is there a way to automate this? Maybe a Behaviour? If not, I may consider creating it, since I will need it a lot.

  I've got a vertical market Dot Net Framework 1.1 C#/WinForms/SQL Server 2000 application. Currently it uses ADO.Net and Microsoft's SQLHelper for CRUD operations. I've successfully converted it to Dot Net Framework 4 C#/WinForms/ SQL Server 2008. What I'd like to do is also offer my customers the ability to use SQL Azure as a backend storage for their data instead of local/LAN SQL Server. If I know SQL Azure is in my application's future, should I: A. Switch to LINQ to SQL B. Swith to Entity Framework C. Stick with ADO.Net and SQLHelper Thanks !

• Unable to read .rtf file in VS.NET 2008 Setup

  Hello All I have created a simple windows application in .NET 2008. Im packaging the same into a setup file using .NET Setup and Deployment. Also i am customizing it to include a License Agreement UI. And i am pointing the License Agreement window to read the license.rtf file which is being included in the Application folder. After successful build, if i run the setup file i can see the License Agreement window but i cannot see the content of my file. Any ideas what is the issue behind this ? Regards CL

• Trying to integrate Jeditable+MarkItUp and Thickbox/Lightbox

  I've managed to successfully integrate MarkItUp with Jeditable based on the instructions on those two sites. What I would really like to do, however, is to have the Jeditable/MarkItUp editing window appear in a Thickbox or Lightbox overlay. So far my attempts to do this have not been successful. So, at the moment, I have the standard code: $.editable.addInputType('markitup', { element : $.editable.types.textarea.element, plugin : function(settings, original) { $('textarea', this).markItUp(settings.markitup); } }); $(".editme").editable("/content/save", { event : 'dblclick', type : 'markitup', submit : 'OK', cancel : 'Cancel', width : 640, height : 'auto', tooltip : 'Double-click to edit...', onblur : 'ignore', markitup : mySettings }); I've found other posts here that show how to trigger the edit box by clicking on a link rather than the object itself, and I've tried integrating that with the Thickbox calls, to no avail.   I would like to setup a fault-tolerant web-service. I will build the web-service with Erlang/OTP. At the beginning the web-service will be hosted on a few VPS. Each VPS has its own IP-address, and I can use more if IPs if I need. I would like to have the domain name pointing to a single IP-address. How can setup my Erlang/OTP-application to be fault-tolerant behind a single IP-address? Do I need to use VLAN? Is there a way my Erlang/OTP-application can use heartbeats and handle virtual IP-addresses to route the traffic? or how should I solve this problem?

  New to MVVM so please excuse my ignorance. I THINK i'm using it right but I find my ViewModel has too many of these: RaisePropertyChanged("SomeProperty") Every time I set a property I have to raise that damned property changed. I miss the days where I could just go: public int SomeInteger { get; private set;} These days I have to stick the "RaisePropertyChanged" in everywhere or my UI does not reflect the changes :( Am I doing it wrong or are other people getting annoyed with the excessive number of magic strings and old school property setters? Should I be using dependency properties instead? (I doubt that would help the code bloat anyway) Despite these problems I still think MVVM is the way to go so I guess that's something.

• Multilingual support using gettext with codeigniter, best practice?

  I know how to create .po files and how to generate .mo files and then use them for translation on my Codeigniter powered site. However, I'm not quite sure on how to change language from the site GUI. I want to stick to codeigniter's default url calling schema: www.domain.com/controllername/method/param1/param2. Calling the server like this is a no-brainer: www.domain.com/controllername?lang=en Doing that for every controller using the default url schema, requires me to implement the same method in every controller, just to pass the lang parameter to the setlocale() function and then bind to my .po domain name. Feels awkward... ANy ideas how you guys work with gettext in codeigniter? And yes, I do want to work with gettext.

• Android Custom View to Activity communication

  I have a custom control/view that observes the direction of a gesture within its bounds. I would like to send a different message back to the Activity hosting the View depending on the direction of the gesture. I'm having a hard time determine what the right way to do this is. I would think I could raise a custom event in the control and then stick a listener on the control in the activity, but I cannot find any information on custom events in Android.   Hi, Our client enironment recently migrated from word 2000 to 2003, we use the below code in one of the templates to show the word's default insert file dialog box. Word is integrated with another third party application Hummingbird docspen. With Dialogs(wdDialogInsertFile) .Name = "q:*.*" .Show End With In old environment it opens up the default insertfile dialog box pointing to my documents folder, where as in word 2003, it opens up the Docsopen insertfile dialog box. I have compared the settings of word 2000 and 2003 it seems to be same. Any suggestions on this please.

My client is a .net application targetting .Net 1.1, using visual studio I have created the proxy( Added a new web reference pointing to my WCF service) I am able to call methods in the WCF service but not able to pass the data in message header. Tried to override "GetWebRequest" and added custom headers in the proxy but for some reason when I tried to access the header using "OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageHeaders.FindHeader" it is not thier. Any idea how to solve this prob? • Changing a Container while using Visitor

  Hi everyone, I implemented the Visitor pattern in C++ using a STL-like iterator for storing the Visitor's current position in the container. Now I would like to change the container while I iterate over it, and I'm especially interested in deleting items from the container, even the one I'm currently visiting. Now obviously this will invalidate the Visitors internal iterator, because it was pointing to exactly this item. Currently, I store a list of all iterators in the container and update them, as soon as anything is added to or removed from the list. So in a way this is similar to the Observer pattern applied to the iterator (as Observer) and the list (as Observable). Alternatively I considered having the visitor() methods return some hint to the Visitor about what happend to the current item and how to proceed iterating, but that doesn't sound like such a good idea either, because the visit() implementation shouldn't really care about finding the next item. So, my question is: What's the best way to keep a visitor working, even when items are added to the container or removed from it. Regards, Florian

• Sharepoint and SQL server Endpoint

  I created a LinkedServer on MS SQL Server 2005 pointing to my Active Directory. Nothing too fancy. Simple LinkedServer with ReadOnlyAdmin Account assigned to CONNECTAS Property. Then I created some storedprocedures to retreive some data from the LinkedServer. Again nothing too fancy. Just a few simple LDAP Queries. Then I created a SQL Endpoint to expose these stored procedures as Web services. Using Visual Studio 2008, everything is fine and dandy. It finds the endpoint, gets the list of the methods available and runs smoothly. Cool. But the Sharpeoint Add Web Service somehow doesn't work! It finds the WSDL file no prob. Retrieves the list of functions and parameterss n all but just simply doesn't run them! Any advice or where I should start checking?
