  This seems confusing to me - im creating a class library, and adding all the necessary references for the source files contained in it. Now, off the bat, there were over 300 compiler errors complaining about missing namespaces. The library will now compile after i just added all of the System.* references, however this is obviously not the best way. I.e. if a classes needs using System.Web.Script;, there is no System.Web.Script reference, how would i find out which one of these references contained it? System.Web didnt.

• Process for linking static ObjC libraries in XCode

  I'm trying to link to a static library and I keep getting linker errors. I've found a few sites that post examples but I have not been able to see what I am doing wrong. First I create a project that will link to my lib add existing files find my .xcodeproj file select "Copy items into destination groups folder"... Select my host project as Add To Targets. Then I add a direct dependency to my host app expand targets double click MyHost.app click + under direct dependencies select my lib Then I set build flags double click MyHost application icon in Groups and Files. click the build tab then I set the OtherLinerFlag to -ObjC then I set Header Search Paths to my header file location for my static library. I pass the compile stage but any classes in my static lib cause linker error: literal-pointer@_OBJC@_cls_refs@SomeClass in MyHost.o thanks!

  It is fairly well known in JavaScript that declaring variables within the global scope is a bad thing. So code I tend to work on contains namespaced JavaScript. There seems to be two different approaches taken to this - Adding your application specific functions to the libraries' namespace e.g. $.myCarouselfunction Creating your own namespace e.g. MyApplication.myCarouselFunction I wanted to know whether or not there is a 'better' solution or if they tend to meet somewhere close in terms of pros and cons. The reason for me personally deciding not to go with the library is for Seperation / Isolation / Lack of conflict with library code and potential plugins that are likely to share that namespace.   I am looking for a .NET library that is able to decode data from a PDF-417 barcode that is embedded either in an image file or PDF. At this point, I have only been able to find a Java version and a C version. Ideally, this library would be both open-source and free of charge, but I doubt such a decoder exists. I am open to trying out demos of existing products that you may have had experience with - which leads me to the question - have you had any experience reading PDF-417 barcodes embedded in images or PDFs using .NET, and which of the available products would you recommend to do so?

  *Its only Debug-time error, but a very weird one. Problem: While running with Debugger attached and calling a method, exposed in separate Portable library, returning ConfiguredTaskAwaitable, we get InvalidProgramException. Repro: Having 2 projects: PortableClassLibrary (supporting .Net 4.5; Windows Store; Windows Phone 8) with 1 class: public class Weird { public static ConfiguredTaskAwaitable GetConfiguredTaskAwaitable() { return new ConfiguredTaskAwaitable(); } } ConsoleApplication with code: static void Main(string[] args) { Weird.GetConfiguredTaskAwaitable(); } Notes: replacing ConfiguredTaskAwaitable with ConfiguredTaskAwaitable<T> (a generic version) fixes this strange issue consuming this method form WP8 or Win8 app under Debugger works fine. Currently it causes problems cause I cant run my Unit Tests under Debugger. I'm forced to change my "ObjectUnderTest" implementation to return generic ConfiguredTaskAwaitable<T>, which is fine for the real project, but still is only a workaround. The Question is: does anybody knows the reason of this error? It definitely related to Portable Class Library magic.

• Trouble using xib files in libraries

  Hi there, I'm having some trouble working with libraries and included xib files. Let me explain my situation first. I've got a project that's running pretty good. Now I need a part of my project as a library for another customer who want's to use some of the functionality in his app. I've created a library with help of that highly recommended article. My customer should be able to initialize a main view controller like this: LibraryMainViewController *lmvc = [[LibraryMainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LibraryMainViewController.xib" bundle:foo]; That for sure leads to an error when I try to present that view controller modally. I'm not sure what bundle I have to use here. I tried something like [NSBundle bundleForClass:[SomeClassInTheLibrary class]]; but that didn't solve the problem. I would be glad if someone could tell me how to actually use a xib file in that kind of situation. Thanks –f

• Do Portable Class Libraries work with .net 3.5?

  I am running Windows 8 and have both Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate w/sp1 and Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and I am trying to create a Portable Class Library that supports .net 3.5 and greater. When I first try to create a PCL I get a screen like this: I noticed that .net 3.5 is not in the list so I clicked on "Install additional frameworks" and found a Targeting Pack for version 3.5. But when I download and run "dotnetfx35setup.exe" nothing happens. And when I go back into VS and try to create a new Portable Class Library, it lists the same target frameworks as before. I have also turned on the Windows Features for .NET Framework 3.5 and am now out of ideas. Here is a screen shot in case I missed something else. Thanks,

Now I have another singleton class and it should call first singleton class. After this code I got linkers error about undefined references for functions which are used in first singleton. When I remove calling first singleton class from second the errors remove. Maybe there is something wrong?

  I am moving some functions to a shared DLL (I want to have some called as a Windows hook). The actual functions are currently in a unit, and it happens to have some initialization and some finalization code. I was initially thinking on doing a direct transformation from a unit to a library. So I moved the initialization code in between the main begin and end.. But then I realized I had no place to move the finalization code. I should create and register an special DLL entry point, instead. My question is. Can I leave the unit with all the functions and the initialization and finalization codes and just create a library stub that uses the unit? will the finalizationit be called?

  I use jqGrid with many columns contains Boolean information, which are displayed as checkboxes inside of table (see http://www.ok-soft-gmbh.com/VerticalHeaders/TestFixedO.htm as an example). To display information more compact I use vertical column headers. It works very well and works in jqGrid in all browsers (see my discussion with Tony Tomov in jqGrid forum http://www.trirand.com/blog/?page_id=393/feature-request/headers-with-vertical-orientation/), but in IE vertical texts looks not nice enough. I was asked from users why the texted displayed so strange. So I think about using a JavaScript based SVG library like SVG Web ( http://code.google.com/p/svgweb/ ) or Raphaël ( http://raphaeljs.com/ ). SVG is very powerful and it is difficult to find a good example is not very easy. I need only display vertical texts (-90 grad, from bottom to up) and use if possible without working in mode of absolute position. So one more times my question: I need have a possibility to display vertical texts (-90 grad rotation) inside of <td> element of table header. I want use a JavaScript based SVG library like SVG Web or Raphaël. The solution must support on IE6. Have somebody a good reference to example which could help me to do this? If somebody post a whole solution of the problem I would be happy. • How to wrap a thirdparty library COM class for notifications in a C++ project

  A thirdparty vendor has provided a COM interface as an external API to their product, and for sending instructions to it, it's fine with the mechanism of generating class wrappers with visual studio by importing from the dll, then creating instances of the created classes, calling their CreateDispatch(), using the access functions and releasing when done. For return notifications, I'd normally create an EventsListener class derived from IDispatch using the Invoke function to handle events returning from the interface. This vendor has created an Events lass which I have to wrap and expose, then explicitly tell the installation where to look. all the example are given is C# where it's really easy, but I'm struggling on how to do it in C++ in the C# example, the interop dll provided is simply added as a reference and derived into a class like so: using System; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Text; using <THIER INTEROP LIB> namespace some.example.namespace { [ComVisible(true)] public class EventViewer : IEvents //where IEvents is their events class { public void OnEvent(EventID EventID, object pData) //overridden function { //event handled here } } } In broad terms I assume that I must create a COM interface, since they require a ProgID from me to instantiate, but how do I derive that's been wrapped by the import and then expose the created class to COM I'm just not sure where to even start, as all the tutorials I've seen so far talk in terms of creating brand new classes not wrapping a third party one

• Ignore LD_LIBRARY_PATH and stick with library given through -rpath at link time

  I'm sitting in an environment which I have no real control over (it's not just me, so basically, I can't change the environment or it won't work for anyone else), the only thing I can affect is how the binary is built. My problem is, the environment specifies an LD_LIBRARY_PATH containing a libstdc++ which is not compatible with the compiler being used. I tried compiling it statically, but that doesn't seem possible for g++ (version 4.2.3, seems to have been work done in this direction in later versions though which are not available, -static-libstdc++ or something like that). Now I've arrived at using rpath to bake the absolute path name into the executable (would work, all machines it's supposed to run on are identical). Unfortunately it appears as though LD_LIBRARY_PATH takes precedence over rpath (resetting LD_LIBRARY_PATH confirmed that it's able to find the library, but as stated above, LD_LIBRARY_PATH will be set for everyone, and I cannot change that). Is there any way I can make rpath take precedence over LD_LIBRARY_PATH, or are there any other possible solutions to my problem? Note that I'm talking about dynamic linking at runtime, I am able to control the command line at compile and link time. Thanks.

• Linux C debugging library to detect memory corruptions

  When working sometimes ago on an embedded system with a simple MMU, I used to program dynamically this MMU to detect memory corruptions. For instance, at some moment at runtime, the foo variable was overwritten with some unexpected data (probably by a dangling pointer or whatever). So I added the additional debugging code : at init, the memory used by foo was indicated as a forbidden region to the MMU; each time foo was accessed on purpose, access to the region was allowed just before then forbidden just after; a MMU irq handler was added to dump the master and the address responsible of the violation. This was actually some kind of watchpoint, but directly self-handled by the code itself. Now, I would like to reuse the same trick, but on a x86 platform. The problem is that I am very far from understanding how is working the MMU on this platform, and how it is used by Linux, but I wonder if any library/tool/system call already exist to deal with this problem. Note that I am aware that various tools exist like Valgrind or GDB to manage memory problems, but as far as I know, none of these tools car be dynamically reconfigured by the debugged code. I am mainly interested for user space under Linux, but any info on kernel mode or under Windows is also welcome!

  I'm wondering if there are any abstraction frameworks for one of the PHP gui libraries. We have PHP-GTK, a PHP/Tk interface, and seemingly also PHP-QT. (Not tried any.) I know that writing against the raw Gtk+ interface in Python is just bearable, and it therefore seems not very enticing for PHP. I assume it's the same for Qt, and Tk is pretty low-level too. So I'm looking for something that provides a nicer object structure atop any of the three. Primarily TreeViews are always a chore and php-gtk callbacks are weird in PHP, so I'd like a simplification for that. If it eases adding the GUI/View atop my business logic without much control code, that might already help. And so since GUI apps are an area where MVC or MVP would actually make sense, I'd like to know if any library for that exists.   I have a Class Library, which inside just has a DataSet (MySQL connector) and a Connector class. I use this class in multiple projects to connect to the database, and I always had the password embedded in the connection string but now I need to be able to modify this string(for security purposes) so I can have the user connect using their own account. How can I modify this connection string. I have tried the following Properties.Settings.Default.DataBaseConnectionString = "String"; But it seems that the connection string is readonly becase it doesn't appear to have a setter value. I also tried the following with no luck Properties.Settings.Default.DatabaseConnectionString.Insert( Properties.Settings.Default.DatabaseConnectionConnectionString.Length - 1, "Password=dbpassword;");

• Is there a 2d sprite library for webgl?

  I am looking to build a 2d game using WebGL. I want the hardware acceleration that WebGL provides and I cannot get this from the 2D canvas context in the canvas tag. With that said, is there a tutorial on creating 2D sprites using webGL? Or, better yet, is there a 2D sprite library for WebGL? Ideally, I'm looking for something like cocos2d ported to WebGL. Not surprisingly, all of the demos, tutorials and libraries I have found for WebGL focus on 3D manipulation. Are there any WebGL libraries that support 2D sprites?

  In .NET 4 Code Access Security (CAS) is deprecated. Whenever you call a method that implicitly uses it, it fails with a NotSupportedException, that can be resolved with a configuration switch that makes it fall back to the old behavior. We have a common library that's used in both .NET 3.5 and .NET 4, so we need to be able to tell whether or not we should use the CAS method. For example, in .NET 3.5 I should call: Assembly.Load(string, Evidence); Whereas in .NET 4 I want to call Assembly.Load(string); Calling Load(string, Evidence) throws a NotSupportedException. Of course this works, but I'd like to know if there's a better method: try { asm = Assembly.Load(someString, someEvidence); } catch(NotSupportedException) { asm = Assembly.Load(someString); }
