  Rails routes are great for matching RESTful style '/' separated bits of a URL, but can I match query parameters in a map.connect config. I want different controllers/actions to be invoked depending on the presence of a parameter after the '?'. I was trying something like this... map.connect "api/my/path?apple=:applecode", :controller = 'apples_controller', :action = 'my_action' map.connect "api/my/path?banana=:bananacode", :controller = 'bananas_controller', :action = 'my_action' For routing purposes I don't care about the value of the parameter, as long as it is available to the controller in the 'params' hash

• Validate input parameters in VB?

  Should I validate input parameters on all functions I create? Input isn't passed from a user, but from other routines as part of an automatic process. I use error handling. I'm not sure what more validating input could do for me. If the input isn't valid, that's pretty much the same thing as an error, isn't it?

  I have an ASP.NET 2.0 web method with the following signature: [WebMethod] public QueryResult[] GetListData( string url, string list, string query, int noOfItems, string titleField) I'm running the disco.exe tool to generate .wsdl and .disco files from this web service for use in SharePoint. The following WSDL for the parameters is being generated: <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="url" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="list" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="query" type="s:string" /> <s:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="noOfItems" type="s:int" /> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="titleField" type="s:string" /> Why does the int parameter have minOccurs set to 1 instead of 0 and how do I change it? I've tried the following without success: [XmlElementAttribute(IsNullable=false)] in the parameter declaration: makes no difference (as expected when you think about it) [XmlElementAttribute(IsNullable=true)] in the parameter declaration: gives error "IsNullable may not be 'true' for value type System.Int32. Please consider using Nullable instead." changing the parameter type to int? : keeps minOccurs="1" and adds nillable="true" [XmlIgnore] in the parameter declaration: the parameter is never output to the WSDL at all

  hi, I have a doubt which might be silly for experience Rails developers. I am creating an application which is suppose to embed a video player with URL passed to it. So while displaying i.e in XXX.html.erb file i am writting below code. Now problem is @movie.trailer is my variable in ruby code which has URL value . I want the embedded video to load with URL given by this variable value. • Polymorphic urls with singular resources

  I'm getting strange output when using the following routing setup: resources :warranty_types do resources :decisions end resource :warranty_review, :only => [] do resources :decisions end I have many warranty_types but only one warranty_review (thus the singular route declaration). The decisions are polymorphically associated with both. I have just a single decisions controller and a single _form.html.haml partial to render the form for a decision. This is the view code: = simple_form_for @decision, :url => [@decision_tree_owner, @decision.becomes(Decision)] do |form| The warranty_type url looks like this (for a new decision): /warranty_types/2/decisions whereas the warranty_review url looks like this: /admin/warranty_review/decisions.1 I think because the warranty_review id has no where to go, it's just getting appended to the end as an extension. Can someone explain what's going on here and how I might be able to fix it? I can work around it by trying to detect for a warranty_review class and substituting @decision_tree_owner with :warranty_review and this generates the correct url, but this is messy. I would have thought that the routing would be smart enough to realise that warranty_review is a singular resource and thus discard the id from the URL. This is Rails 3 by the way :)

  Hi, I am working on my first MVC application and am running into a bit of a problem. I have a data table that when a row is clicked, I want to return the detail from that row. I have a function set up as: function rowClick(item) { $("#detailInfo").data("width.dialog", 800); $.ajax({ type: "GET", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "<%= Url.Action("GetDetails", "WarningRecognition")%>", data: "", dataType: "json", success: function(data) {//do some stuff...and show results} } The problem I am running into is the passing of the "item". I calls the Controller function that looks like this: public JsonResult GetDetails(string sDetail) { Debug.WriteLine(Request.QueryString["sDetail"]); Debug.WriteLine("sDetail: " + sDetail); var myDetailsDao = new WarnRecogDetailsDao(); return new JsonResult { Data = myDetailsDao.SelectDetailedInfo(Convert.ToInt32(sDetail)) }; } But it never shows anything as the the "sDetail". It does hit the function but nothing is passed to it. So, I have read where you pass the parameter via the data but I have tried every combination I can think of and it never shows up.   Does anyone know how to change these length parameters in the middle of a latex document? \paperwidth \paperheight I would like to define a page size for a single page (possibly two or three). I tried v5.3 of the geometry package, which just added some new features; like \newgeometry. Unfortunately \newgeometry cannot be used to redefine \paperheight and \paperwidth. Any help would be very appreciated.

• IIS7 Rewrite rule being duplicated across 2 different websites (unwanted)

  We have a IIS7 on Windows Server 2008. It is hosting a handful of sites, on a handful of ip addresses. 2 of those sites are actually wildcards on the domain: *.firstdomain.com *.seconddomain.com However, I am finding that any URL Rewrite rules I add for one of these "websites", is automatically in the URL Rewrite section for the other. Similarly, if I disable the rule in in one, it disables in the other. This doesn't happen with the other sites defined on this server, just these two. I look at the parent (top level, the server as a whole), and the rule is not there. Any idea what's going on here?

• ASP.NET MVC - hiding id in URL?

  I'm building a basic blog application just now, for viewing data I'm just using the default route, i.e. - routes.MapRoute ( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Blog", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); So that when you go to mysite.com/View/12 it displays the blog with id 12. I want to modify the URLs so that they look as follows: mysite.com/View/2010/06/01/this-is-the-title. I could have a URL mapping like - routes.MapRoute( "View", "View/{year}/{month}/{day}/{title}", new { controller = "Blog", action = "View" } ); But then I'm not passing the ID into the Controller action so I would have to search on the date and title which doesn't feel right. On the other hand, if I pass the ID in it will show up in the URL which isn't what I'm aiming for either. Is there any way to redirect to the URL I want in the controller action after passing only the ID in as a paramter, or to pass the ID into the a Map Route but hide it in the URL?   Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

• DotNetOpenAuth getting return_To url as the provider

  I have a provider that I'm upgrading from version 2 to version 3. basically a user comes to one of our sites and we say "if you don't have an openID sign up with this one" They click that and are sent to our in house provider what signs them up for an account and has to verify their email address. In the link I send via Email I included the return to url . This way when they click the link to verify their email (sometimes up to a week later) they are sent to our page that knows to send them back to the returnTo to login. I could not find a good way to do this in version 2 so I used a hack. • passing LIMIT as parameters to MySQL sproc

  I'm creating a paging class and need to pass in two parameters to my MySQL stored procedure for the LIMIT clause. I'm passing them in as INTs and trying something like this SELECT * FROM `MyTable` LIMIT MyFirstParamInt, MySecondParamInt it gives me an error when I try and save the sproc though. Is there a way to do this that I'm just missing? Or am I going to have to EVAL the whole query and EXECUTE it?
