  • Load properties file in JAR?

    I'm having trouble when one of the jars that my web app depends on tries to load a properties file from within the jar. Here is the code in the jar. static { Properties props = new Properties(); try { props.load(ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("someProps.properties")); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } someProperty = props.getProperty("someKey"); } The properties file is in my "src/main/resources" directory of the Maven project. When I run this code from my junit test in Eclipse, it executes just fine. When the project is built with Maven into a jar, and included as a dependency in my webb app, it fails to locate the properties file. I know that the properties file is at the base directory of the depended on jar, I don't know how to fix this. Please help!

    Hi All, I have a java application for exaple see below. myProject | |----src | | | |--main | | | |--resources | | | |--userConfig.properties | |--log4j.properties | |---target I am using Maven to build my project .I am using maven command to build jar file. mvn package -DMaven.test.skip=true I want to exclude userConfig.properties file from my jar file so i have mentioned in pom.xml as below. <excludes> <exclude>**/userConfig.properties</exclude> </excludes> but it will exclude from the target folder in which compile code resides.   • How do I set a dependency on Spring Web Services in my POM.xml

    I get this on a lot of Maven dependencies, though current source of pain is Spring. I'll set a Spring version and include it like so: <spring-version>3.0.0.RELEASE</spring-version> <!-- Spring framework --> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-core</artifactId> <version>${spring-version}</version> </dependency> Which works as expected. I am however having problems setting my dependency on spring-ws-core for web services. The latest I can find in any repo is 2.0.0-M1. http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.springframework.ws/spring-ws-core Any clues on what I need to include in my maven POM to get Spring 3 web services to work :)

    I'm trying to install a JBI component inside ServiceMix 4.3 from a Java class. This JBIComponent is packed as .jar. I wanted to know if the jbi.xml descriptor is mandatory in .jar package like in .zip. I searched a lot of info and I'm not quite sure but as it looks like for the java classes that install the component is necessary this descriptor but when my maven project creates two files, one .zip and one .jar. The zip one has a jbi.xml descriptor inside META-INF. But the .jar that is generated doesn't have this descriptor. http://grepcode.com/file/repo1.maven.org/maven2/org.apache.servicemix.nmr/org.apache.servicemix.nmr.bundle/1.5.0/org/apache/servicemix/jbi/deployer/impl/AdminCommandsImpl.java This is the class that I'm using to install it.     Hello everyone, I am just switching from Ant to Maven and am trying to figure out the best practice to set up a EAR file based Enterprise project? Lets say I want to create a pretty standard project with a jar file for the EJBs, a WAR file for the Web tier and the encapsulating EAR file, with the corresponding deployment descriptors. How would I go about it? Create the project with archetypeArtifactId=maven-archetype-webapp liek a war file and extend from there? What is the best project structure (and POM file example) for this? Where do you stick the ear file related deployment descriptors, etc? Thanks for any help.

    I am making my first foray into scala for a production app. The app is currently packaged as a war file. My plan is to create a jar file of the scala compiled artifacts and add that into the lib folder for the war file. My enhancement is a mysql-backed app exposed via Jersey & will be integrated with a 3rd party site via HttpClient invocations. I know how to do this via plain java. But when doing it in scala, there are several decision points that I am pussyfooting on. scala 2.7.7 or 2.8 RC ? JDBC via querulous Is this API ready for production ? sbt vs maven. I am comfortable with maven. Is there a scala idiomatic wrapper for HttpClient (or should I use it just like in java) ? I'd love to hear your comments and experiences on starting out with scala.   • Update Nexus repository with local artifacts

    Hi, i recently downloaded some maven artifacts directly to my local repository (.m2/repository). Now i installed the Nexus Repository Manager and need to fill its storage without to download all the artifacts again. Is there a way to update the Nexus repository with the local one. I don't want to simply copy them because Nexus separate artifacts concerning their public servers (central, codehaus, etc.) and the local repository structure doesn't. Update: Meanwhile i copied the the artifacts from the local repository to the Nexus storage (public repository). I can browse to the artifacts via the Nexus webapp, but Maven somehow can't resolve the artifacts from Nexus. Do i need to register them particularly? I re-indexed the public repository and restarted Nexus multiple times - no changes.

  • How to include NetBeans Platform Source code into module dependencies

    I am debugging a NetBeans Platform application. I have downloaded the NetBeans Platform source code .zip file. I would really really like to attach the source code to the debugger so that I can seamlessly jump to internal NB source code. Normally I would edit the Library configuration to tell NB where to find the source code, and it would just work. However this is not possible for NetBeans Modules; when I look at the Utilities API module dependency it does not look like a normal NB library and there is nowhere to add in the source code. I suspect that if I were to rebuild my project using Maven this would work automatically. But thats a terrible reason to switch to maven. How can I get the NB Platform Source code included into my Module Dependencies ?

  • Cucumber works on Eclipse but not on Jenkins

    I am successfully running Cucumber test on my java/maven eclipse project. But when I add my project do Jenkins I always get the following error "cucumber.runtime.CucumberException: No features found at []". I read in this thread Setting cucumber-jvm options in Maven from the command line that: ...tests are running in separate JVM, so you need to specify that system property in the test plugin configuration (i.e. surefire or failsafe plugin config in your pom.xml) But I am not quite sure how to do this. Can anyone help me? PS: I am using "cucumber-java" and "cucumber-junit" dependencies.

    Hello. I created several web applications that use the same static files (css, js, images). When I use svn for version control, I use an external repository (svn: externals) to add files to the current project. For example: - Project_1 ---- Webapp -------- Static (external to static's repo) - Project_2 ---- Webapp -------- Static (external to static's repo) I could easily use it in their web pages by adding a link like /static/ ... But now our company has moved to perforce. How can I support the current structure? We also use maven, I think to pack these files as a jar and use as a dependency, but then my editor (idea) does not see that this dependence are js-scripts and styles. And i need to repackage and deploy jar file when create minor changes. How to use maven correctly?

    [I'm sure this is not odd at all, but I need just a bit of help] I have two retain properties @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *listContent; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *filteredListContent; and in the viewDidLoad method I set the second equal to the first (so now the retainCount is two, I think): self.filteredListContent = self.listContent; and then on every search I do this self.filteredListContent = [listContent filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]; I thought I should do a release right above this assignment -- since the property should cause an extra retain, right? -- but that causes the program to explode the second time I run the search method. The retain counts (without the extra release) are 2 the first time I come into the search method, and 1 each subsequent time (which is what I expected, unfortunately). Some guidance would help, thanks! Is it correct to not release?

    I am new to Eclipse so I am having a hard time troubleshooting this problem. I have a new installation of Eclipse Java EE - Galileo on Windows, and I am unable to see any changes made in the IDE after installing plugins. I have verified that the plugins are installed via installation details, but see no changes made. For example, after installing the maven integration plugin m2eclipse I go to File-New-Project ... and I have no option for maven. After installing the QuickRex plugin I have no view for it etc. I have tried re-installing the plugins, re-installing Eclipse, and starting Eclipse with the -clean option, but nothing has resolved the issue. Any ideas? Thanks!

    I've taken over a code base that has subtle flaws - audio player goes mute, unlogged crashes, odd behavior, etc. I found a way to provoke one instance of the problem and tracked it to this code snippet: NSURL *soundURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[[soundsToPlay objectAtIndex:count] description] ofType:@"mp3"]]; self.audioPlayer = nil; self.audioPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:soundURL error:nil]; self.audioPlayer.delegate = self; AudioSessionSetActive(YES); [audioPlayer play]; When I comment out the 2nd line (nil) and add a release to the end, this problem stops. [self.audioPlayer release]; Where do I go from here? Nils are used in a similar fashion throughout the code (and may cause similar problems) - is there a safe way to remove them? I'm new to memory management - how can I discern proper nil usage from bad nil usage?

  • TFS no release folder in build folder

    I have a tfs build that works fine on the client, but when executed on the server, no actual binaries get created. When I go to the folder: \[MyServer]\builds[BuildName], I see BuildLog.txt ErrorsWarningsLog.txt Release.txt I expect to see a big \Release folder full of my dlls, but I get nothing. The error log reports no problems up until we ask the build to copy the binaries to our staging server. If I comment those out, I get no errors. CustomizableOutDir is true, DropLocation is set to something sensible BuildDirectoryPath is set to something sensible But no matter what, I just don't get any dlls built. Our local TFS guy is baffled too. Any suggestions?

    I'm using Hudson to build my application. I have several branches that come and go. Whenever there's a new branch, I have to set up the following builds for it: a continuous build that runs after every change in SVN a nightly build a nightly site generation (I'm using Maven under the hood) and a weekly integration build for some branches currently this means I need to copy four template configurations and set them up with the branch URL. I don't like this for two reasons: It's redundant, so modifying something is error-prone and takes a lot of time. I need four full checkouts of the product per branch on every build slave, plus four separate private Maven repository, not to mention the built artifacts. This is a lot of space wasted. What I'd like instead is to have one workspace and one configuration for allthese builds. Is this possible with Hudson?

    I am trying to decide between the Zend Framework and Ruby On Rails for my web application. If I go with ZF, I need the following: A way to incrementally track changes to my database, as with RoR's migration feature (001_something.sql, 002_something_else.sql). A place to put SQL for the next release of my software. At work in our custom PHP solution, we just have release.sql, which gets run, archived, and blanked out upon release. ZF has Zend_Db_Schema_Manager, which does the same thing, but I'm not interested as its not official, complete, or maintained. Is there an official mechanism that ZF provides for doing something similar to what I described? EDIT I ended up going with Rails. Nothing compares.

  • Does Msbuild recognise any build configurations other than DEBUG|RELEASE

    I created a configuration named Test via Visual Studio which currently just takes all of DEBUG settings, however I employ compiler conditions to determine some specific actions if the build happens to be TEST|DEBUG|RELEASE. However how can I get my MSBUILD script to detect the TEST configuration?? Currently I build <MSBuild Projects="@(SolutionsToBuild)" Properties="Configuration=$(Configuration);OutDir=$(BuildDir)\Builds\" /> Where @(SolutionsToBuild) is a my solution. In the Common MsBuild Project Properties it states that $(Configuration) is a common property but it always appears blank? Does this mean that it never gets set but is simply reserved for my use or that it can ONLY detect DEBUG|RELEASE. If so what is the point in allowing the creation of different build configurations?

  • Missing archetype.xml in new archetype created from project.

    Hi, I am using Maven 2.2.1. and am new to Maven. I am trying to create an archetype based on an existing project. I have been using this blog post as a guide: http://blog.inflinx.com/category/m2eclipse/ Step 7 says "The next step is to verify that the generated archetype.xml (located under srcmainresourcesMETA-INFmaven (sic)) has all the files listed and they are located in the right directories." My generated archetype does not have an archetype.xml. It does have an archetype-metadata.xml file though. There aren't any errors in the output from calling archetype:create-from-project, just a couple of warnings about using platform encoding (Cp1252). Any thoughts on why this file wasn't generated? Thanks in advance!
