• Using property file in hibernate mapping

  Hi, I have a two nodes environment using the same database. In the database there is a resource table like RESOURCE_ID, CODE, NODE The content of the NODE column can be 1 or 2 depending on which node can use it. As I need to deploy the same ear to the two nodes, I would like to map this table like this: <hibernate-mapping> <class name="ResourceVO" table="RESOURCE" dynamic-update="true" optimistic-lock="dirty" where="NODE=${node.value}" > I would like to store the node.value property on the file system, so the instances could identify which resource to use. Is it possible in hibernate?

• Trouble using genericra to integrate activemq and glassfish when using failover protocol

  Hi, I'm attempting to use activemq in glassfish using the genericra resource adapter provided with glassfish 2.1. I have found a few pages with helpful information including http://activemq.apache.org/sjsas-with-genericjmsra.html. I have actually had success and been able to get MDBs to use activemq as their JMS provider, but I'm running into an issue as I'm trying to do some more complicated configuration. I want to set up a master-slave configuration, which would require my clients to use a brokerURL of failover:(tcp://broker1:61616,tcp://broker2:61616). In order to do this, I set the following property when calling asadmin create-resource-adapter-config (I have to escape '=' and ':'): ConnectionFactoryProperties=brokerURL\=failover\:(tcp\://127.0.0.1\:61616,tcp://127.0.0.1\:61617) However, I am now getting a StringIndexOutOfBoundsException when my application starts up. I suspect the comma in between the two URLs is the culprit, since this works fine: brokerURL\=failover\:(tcp\://127.0.0.1\:61616) Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this issue before. Also wondering if there is a better way to integrate with glassfish than using the generic resource adapter.

  I have a website (not a web application- in visual studio you get two options-create a website/project) running on IIS 6.0. Now I want to develop few features in MVC architecture. So I created one MVC application in visual studio and everything is working fine on localhost as a separate application. Now I want to host this MVC app also inside the website I have already deployed. I created a virtual directory(MVCDir) inside the default website in IIS 6.0. The global.asax file which was in root folder I added the routing function- Shared Sub RegisterRoutes(ByVal routes As RouteCollection) routes.Ignore("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}") routes.Ignore("{resource}.aspx/{*pathInfo}") routes.MapPageRoute("Default4", "{controller}/{action}/{id}", "~/MVCDir", False, New RouteValueDictionary(New With {.controller = "Home", .action = "Index", .id = Mvc.UrlParameter.Optional})) End Sub * NOTE- If I write routes.ignoreRoute instead of routes,ignore it says- IgnoreRoute is not a member of System.Web.RoutingCollection* I called this routing function inside application_start function now when I run domain.com/home/index How to solve this problem? it says resource not found

• Lock Question - When is an Update (U) lock issued?

  We are trying to resolve a deadlock problem. The transaction that is getting rolled back is attempting to issue an Update (U) lock on a resource that another transaction has an Exclusive (X) lock on. According to Books Online (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175519.aspx), an Update lock is supposed to prevent deadlocks, not cause them. So, my question is, why/when is an Update lock applied to a resource? We're a little confused about this because the resource that is attempting to have the Update lock applied to will not be updated by the process that is having the transaction rolled back. • Getting Path (context root) to the Application in Restlet

  I am needing to get the application root within a Restlet resource class (it extends ServerResource). My end goal is trying to return a full explicit path to another Resource. I am currently using getRequest().getResourceRef().getPath() and this almost gets me what I need. This does not return the full URL (like http://example.com/app), it returns to me /resourceName. So two problems I'm having with that, one is it is missing the schema (the http or https part) and server name, the other is it does not return where the application has been mounted to. So given a person resource at 'http://dev.example.com/app_name/person', I would like to find a way to get back 'http://dev.example.com/app_name'. I am using Restlet 2.0 RC3 and deploying it to GAE.

  It seemed a trivial matter at the beginning but so far I had not managed to get unique identifier for a given resource using SPARKQL. What I mean is given, let say, rdf:Description rdf:about="http://..." and then some properties identifying this resource, what I want to do is to first find this very resource and then retrieve all the triples given some uri. I have tried naive approaches by writing statements in a WHERE clause such as ?x rdf:about ?y and ?x rdfs:about ?y. I hope I am being precise.

• Handling multiple exceptions

  Hi there, I have written a class which loads configuration objects of my application and keeps track of them so that I can easily write out changes or reload the whole configuration at once with a single method call. However, each configuration object might potentially throw an exception when doing IO, yet I do not want those errors to cancel the overall process so that the other objects are still given a chance to reload/write. Therefore I collect all exceptions which are thrown while iterating over the objects and store them in a super-exception, which is thrown after the loop, since each exception must still be handled and someone has to be notified of what exactly went wrong. However, that approach looks a bit odd to me. Someone out there with a cleaner solution?   Hello, when I have the fallowing code to read a binary file: NSString* file = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:fileName]; NSString* filePath = resource ? [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:file ofType:nil] : [[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0] stringByAppendingPathComponent: file]; NSData* fileData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; Where "fileName" and resource are load function parameters. "resource" is used to know if the file is located in application bundle or in Documents. Sometimes this code works well and sometimes it doesn't. As far I saw this problem is random. I can run the code 10 times in a row and it works fine and after that it gives me nil data without any modification. Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Could it be related with file extension or file name? Thank you. PS: I use this code on iPhone Simulator and the file exists in application bundle.

• root path for multiple controllers on rails routes

  I have two resource controllers where I am using a slug to represent the ID. (friendly_id gem). I am able to have the show path for one resource on the route but not for two at the same time. ie. root :to => 'home#index' match '/:id' => "properties#show" match '/:id' => "contents#show" Basically I want urls like, # Content domain.com/about-us domain.com/terms # Property domain.com/unique-property-name domain.com/another-unique-property-name Whatever resource I put on top works.   I am working with UIWebView project and I want to load an HTML file from a project resource. It is working fine when I run from the URL, but when I view the HTML file locally, JS files are not loaded. Loading the local HTML local file doesn't refer to js files in UIWebView. • How can I get the "Latency" of a process that has a TCP connection open?

  Hello, I am looking to get the "Latency" field of a TCP connection. I notice windows Resource Monitor has this field, and I was wondering if there was a way I can find it. Preferrably without using WMI. If you are unsure what field I am talking about, open Task Manager, goto the Performance tab and hit the Resource Monitor button. Once Resource Monitor is open, expand the TCP Connections area and you will see a Latency field. Is there anyway to access this programatically? Thanks!

  Hello. I have a weird problem with global resources in my asp.net mvc web application. I have some resources in separate project(not a web app project). Those resources have following settings: Build action: Embedded Resource, Copy To Output Directory: Do not copy, Custom Tool: ResXFileCodeGenerator. When I change an existing value in resource file, build solution in release mode and upload neccesary dll files back to server, the previous values in resources are still shown. However, when I add a new key into resource file, the value of this key is shown properly. I do not have this problem during debugging on localhost. Thanks

• Deadlock Problem because of an Update Lock.

  We have a deadlock issue we're trying to track down. I have an deadlock graph (xdl) generated from Profiler. It shows the losing SQL statement as a simple Select statement, not an Update, Delete or Insert statement. The graph shows the losing Select statement as requesting a Shared lock on a resource **but also owning an Update lock on a resource**. This is what is baffling me. Why would a Select statement that is not part of an Insert, Update or Delete ever hold an Update lock on a resource? I should add that the Update lock it owns is on the table being selected against by the losing Select statement.

  I noticed that .NET framework uses formatting functions, generated the same way localizable string are. There is a resource file Resources.resx with resource string TestString. So you may use it in code like this: string localizableValue = Resources.TestString; Now, imagine you need a formattable localizable string, to use it in string.Format function. So everytime you use it, you have to write something like this: string localizableFormattedValue = string.Format(Resources.TestFormatString, someParam1, someParam2); The observation says that in .NET framework generated resource classes already include the above construction. So instead of string property, a string function is generated. The resulting code looks like this: string localizableFormattedValue = Resources.TestFormatString(someParam1, someParam2); The question is - how do they do this? Is it some custom Microsoft feature (resx generator) or I'm missing something obvious?

  Hi, My understanding of Resources is that I can combine resources i.e. images and my program into single executable. Let's say I have image pic1.png and I put it into Resource of my project, and is accessible with Properties.Resource.pic1. For example, PictureBox pb = new PictureBox(); pb.Image = Properties.Resource.pic1; What I want to do is for that my program will be able to replace this image at runtime. For example, my program runs, and locate newPicture.png, and use this new image to replace pic1.png that was originally used. Maybe my question is better reworded as "Can I include new image into Resources at runtime?" Please help. Thanks.

• Should an edit of a comment be sent through POST or PUT?

  I have the following URI: Posts/{postId}/Comments/{commentId} I would like to enable users to edit a comment through my API, should the edit be done with POST or PUT? One one hand, POST updates the contents of a resource so that makes sense but on the other hand PUT replaces it with a new one. So if I understand correctly with POST I need to send only what needs to be updates and with PUT I send the whole resource. Usually in edit forms, the whole resource is loaded anyway so what's the point of using POST? If I take one approach or the other, what are the differences?
