  • Using dot To Access Object Attribute and Proper abstraction

    - by cobie
I have been programming in python and java for quite a number of years and one thing i find myself doing is using the setters and getters from java in python but a number of blogs seem to think using the dot notation for access is the pythonic way. What I would like to know is if using dot to access methods does not violate abstraction principle. If for example I implement an attribute as a single object and use dot notation to access, if I wanted to change the code later so that the attribute is represented by a list of objects, that would require quite some heavy lifting which violates abstraction principle.

  • BSOD Before Windows Will Loads - Graphics Related

    - by Brian
Alright deep breath here: (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit btw) Today I installed Star Craft 2 Beta. After trying to log in, it had some issues where it said my device stopped working (referring to my video device I have to imagine). After I force quit the game there were some random "hot" (various colors if i remember correctly) pixels on the screen. I decided to reboot and try again with similar results. I figured that maybe my display drivers could stand to be updated (I don't frequently update them as I don't often run into problems). I went out to nVidia's website and grabbed the latest drivers for Windows 7 64 bit GeForce 9 series. (I have SLi-ed 9800 GTs). Everything seemed to install fine and I performed the restart. This is when things went from bad (can't play SC2 beta ;) ) to worse (can't boot into windows!). Initially the very first splash screen - I think it's the bios splash screen - had lines of colored pixels covering it. It then displayed a screen that had lots of "(" on it. After that it showed the normal windows 7 splash screen as if it were going to load into Windows. Before getting much further, it BSODed on me. It was a 0x0000003B stop error. At nvlddmkm.sys. A little digging let verified that this was a problem with an nVidia graphics device, not a real shocker. Windows decided it would try to help me diagnose the problem, which it's only answer to was a System Restore, which did nothing to alleviate the problem. I was able to boot up fine in safe mode and was not able to roll back the driver, however I did uninstall the driver and reboot. I still had the graphical anomalies during the first two screens (same colored "."'s and weird "("'s), but there was NOT a stop error. Windows loaded up, found a default driver for the device and installed it and I restarted to let it load - and had yet another BSOD Stop error. Repeat driver uninstall, this time I reloaded the same version (I think it's possible that I was running a 32 bit version or a vista versus windows 7 version, but I don't have that information handy) of the nVidia driver from their website. Restart, same anomalies, same Stop Error. I am at a loss - At this point all I can think is that the firmware for the Video cards got fried or there's actual damage to the cards which I sincerely hope is not the case but the sooner I know the better. Any insight into what I might be able to do to troubleshoot/fix this problem would be most helpful. Attached below is a dump from DxDiag. I am trying to integrate IBMMQ v6.0.2 with jbossESB. we have local Queue available on IBMMQ on one of our QA QUEUEMANAGER. I am able to listen to the QUEUE using JMSprovider of jboss ESB. As soon as a message (of type jms_text ) is dropped , esb listen to it and pick it up and before it hit the next action it throws following error message. • Twitter status id conundrum

    - by jamiet
I have an interest, a slightly perverse one some might say, in using online services and trying to figure out what the underlying (logical) data model is and in this day and age Twitter is one that lends itself very well to scrutiny. Consider this recent tweet of mine: The URL that enables you to see that tweet is http://twitter.com/jamiet/status/12154647354. We can interpret that URL to mean "a tweet by jamiet with an id of 12154647354" and hence we might further assume that the unique identifier for the tweet is {jamiet,12154647354}. However, its well-known that Twitter gives each status a unique ID regardless of who tweeted it so we might expect we could reach that tweet just by using a URL of http://twitter.com/status/12154647354 however (at the time of writing) that only redirects to Twitter's homepage. That seems strange to me especially given that we can use Twitter's API to access information about that tweet using only the id of the status. Witness http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/show/12154647354.xml: [We can also access a JSON version of that information using http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/show/12154647354.json] I'm puzzled as to why a tweet can't be accessed using on the main twitter website using the id alone. Anyone have any suggestions? @jamiet Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

  • Is there a way to make a serialized member to serialize as an attribute?

    - by Shimmy
Is there a way to make a serialized member to serialize as an attribute: <Serializable> Public Class Person Public Property Name As String End Class I want than when this class is xml-serialized, it should produce: <Person Name="John Doe" /> And what I mean is that instead of the Name property should be serialized as an element, it should be serialized as an xml attribute.

  • C# XmlSchemaSet - Resolving included schemas to enumerate attribute groups

    - by satixx
    Hi, I currently have a compiled XmlSchemaSet from which I get possible elements/attributes for each specific "parent" element defined in the schema. I have a single "master" xsd schema which includes another schema and uses attributeGroup references for some "common" elements. Here is a sample: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attributeGroup ref="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> (SourceAttributeGroups.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="SourceAttributeGroups" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:attributeGroup id="BindingSourceAttributeGroup" name="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </attributeGroup> </xs:schema> I would like to create an XmlSchemaSet in C# which would resolve, compile and "merge" every references of the MasterSchema so it would finaly look like this: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> This way, I could traverse each XmlSchemaParticle of the compiled schema to get every single attribute for a specific element, even when its attributes are defined in an external schema. At the moment, when I get the possible attributes for a "Binding" element, I only get the "Name" attribute since it is originally defined in the "master" schema. What would be the possible solutions to this problem? Thanks! Satixx

  • XmlException - inserting attribute gives "unexpected token" exception

    - by Anders Svensson
Hi, I have an XmlDocument object in C# that I transform, using XslTransform, to html. In the stylesheet I insert an id attribute in a span tag, taking the id from an element in the XmlDocument. Here is the template for the element: <xsl:template match="word"> <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> </xsl:template> But then I want to process the result document as an xhtml document (using the XmlDocument dom). So I'm taking a selected element in the html, creating a range out of it, and try to load the element using XmlLoad(): wordElem.LoadXml(range.htmlText); But this gives me the following exception: "'598' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 10." And if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see the tags for the element, and the "id" shows without quotes, which confuses me (i.e.SPAN id=598 instead of SPAN id="598"). To confuse the matter further, if I insert a blank space or something like that in the value of the id in the stylesheet, it works fine, i.e.: <span> <xsl:attribute name="id"><xsl:text> </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="@id"></xsl:value-of></xsl:attribute> <xsl:apply-templates/> </span> (Notice the whitespace in the xsl:text element). Now if I move the cursor over the range.htmlText, I see an id with quotes as usual in attributes (and as it shows if I open the html file in notepad or something). What is going on here? Why can't I insert an attribute this way and have a result that is acceptable as xhtml for XmlDocument to read? I feel I am missing something fundamental, but all this surprises me, since I do this sort of transformations using xsl:attribute to insert attributes all the time for other types of xsl transformations. Why doesn't XmlDocument accept this value? By the way, it doesn't matter if it is an id attribute. i have tried with the "class" attribute, "style" etc, and also using literal values such as "style" and setting the value to "color:red" and so on. The compiler always complains it is an unvalid token, and does not include quotes for the value unless there is a whitespace or something else in there (linebreaks etc.). I hope I have provided enough information. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Basically, what I want to accomplish is set an id in a span element in html, select a word in a webbrowser control with this document loaded, and get the id attribute out of the selected element. I've accomplished everything, and can actually do what I want, but only if I use regex e.g. to get the attribute value, and I want to be able to use XmlDocument instead to simply get the value out of the attribute directly. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if so please tell me. Regards, Anders

  • How to xkill an application by its id?

    - by Hanynowsky
I need to simulate the behavior of the keyboard shortcut (ALT+F4) using Terminal for a given application. If I open for example gedit and click ALT + F4 , then GEDIT will be xkilled. If I want to achieve same thing using Terminal, how should I proceed? The command export PIDTOKILL=pidof gedit | grep [^*]; xkill -id $PIDTOKILL does not work and gives the following error: xkill: killing creator of resource 0x3f38 X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 113 (X_KillClient) Value in failed request: 0x3f38 Serial number of failed request: 8 Current serial number in output stream: 9 I think I am confusing application id and process id here

  • Issue with changing an attribute with jquery

    - by rshivers
Hello, I'm having an issue with changing the attribute for an id and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I guess it doesn't help that I'm new to this also. I have a function that tests to make sure that I am pulling the correct id from the row in my form that I have dynamically created. It goes something like this: myFunction() { var id = $(id).attr("id"); alert("This is my id " + id); } This works with no problem and when I click the button assigned to alert me of my id it will give give me the id of the dynamic row in my form. The issue is now when I try to change the id with this: changeId() { var newId = $(id).attr("id", "x"); alert("This is my new id " + newId); } What happens in this case is that it will alert saying "This is my new id [object Object]" instead of giving me the new id. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help with this.

  • Event ID 17890 (A significant part... paged out.) with SQL Server 2008

    - by Godeke
I have a machine that has SQL Server 2008 Standard installed. Periodically (about once an hour) I am getting Event ID 17890 several times in a row. An example: 6:28:54 "A significant part of sql server process memory has been paged out. This may result in a performance degradation. Duration: 0 seconds. Working set (KB): 10652, committed (KB): 628428, memory utilization: 1%%. 6:34:27 "A significant part of sql server process memory has been paged out. This may result in a performance degradation. Duration: 332 seconds. Working set (KB): 169780, committed (KB): 546124, memory utilization: 31%%." 6:38:55 "A significant part of sql server process memory has been paged out. This may result in a performance degradation. Duration: 600 seconds. Working set (KB): 245068, committed (KB): 546124, memory utilization: 44%%." This pattern repeated at 7:26 - 7:37, 8:26 - 8:36, 9:24 - 9:35 and so with the same increasing working set and memory utilization pattern. I don't have any (known) background tasks running at this time. Backups run at 2:00 This subsided from 11:00 at night until it resumed at 4:00 in the morning and has been continuing the intermittent 10 minute glitch periods. As this server has plenty of RAM (the commit charge has peaked at 2,871,564 of 4,194,012 physical) I disabled the paging files after reading several items I dug up searching Google and not finding any of them changing the situation. This pattern I am documented is after removing the paging files, so I'm not even sure where we are paging the SQL process could be going. I also changed the SQL process memory to have a minimum of 500MB and a maximum of 2GB of RAM (as this is a light duty database server serving only a small workgroup). Has anyone encountered this? Prior to disabling the page files this error would cause 5 minutes of disk thrashing that disabled access to the databases, files, IIS webs and so on. Since disabling the page files it just logs strange things, but I'm not seeing a performance drop at least. Any suggestions would be welcome.

  • Active Directory and Apple's Workgroup Manager

    - by qbn
I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share. I hope I save someone a couple of hours. # ================================================================== # # This file should be imported with the following command: # ldifde -i -u -f Apple AD Schema Changes.ldf -s server:port -b username domain password -j . -c "cn=Configuration,dc=X" #configurationNamingContext # LDIFDE.EXE from AD/AM V1.0 or above must be used. # This LDIF file should be imported into AD or AD/AM. • Created new account instead of alias for original ID

    - by Mahesha999
Hi I had Live ID for many years. To try Outlook.com I created a new ID. However now I want to use that same ID as an alias in my original Live account, which is also now upgraded to new Outlook Experience. When I went creating alias for that ID, it obviously showed message saying ID is in use. So I searched if I can delete an account altogether. But did not found anyway to delete that newly created account. Then I renamed my newly created ID. It got renamed, but that old ID is now made alias in that new account. So, still I am not able to create an alias with the same ID in my original Live account. What can I do?

  • How to get attribute value using SelectSingleNode in C#?

    - by Nano HE
    Hello. I am parsing a xml document, I need find out the gid (an attribute) value (3810). Based on SelectSingleNode(). I found it is not easy to find the attribute name and it's value. Can I use this method or I must switch to other way. Attached my code. How can I use book obj to get the attribute value3810 for gid. Thank you. My test.xml file as below <?xml version="1.0"?> <root> <VersionInfo date="2007-11-28" version="1.0.0.2"/> <Attributes> <AttrDir name="EFEM" DirID="1"> <AttrDir name="Aligner" DirID="2"> <AttrDir name="SequenceID" DirID="3"> <AttrObj text="Slot01" gid="3810" unit="" scale="1"/> <AttrObjCount value="1"/> </AttrDir> </AttrDir> </AttrDir> </Attributes> </root> I wrote the test.cs as below public class Sample { public static void Main() { XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.Load("test.xml"); XmlNode book; XmlNode root = doc.DocumentElement; book = root.SelectSingleNode("Attributes[AttrDir[@name='EFEM']/AttrDir[@name='Aligner']/AttrDir[@name='SequenceID']/AttrObj[@text='Slot01']]"); Console.WriteLine("Display the modified XML document...."); doc.Save(Console.Out); } }

  • xen 4.1 host priodically dropping network packets of domU

    - by Dyutiman Chakraborty
I have xen 4.1 Host running on a ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server with ip 153.x.x.54. I have setup 2 VMs on it, namely, "dev.mydomain.com" and "web.mydomain.com" with ips 195.X.X.2 and 195.x.x.3 respectively. For network the VMs connect through xendbr0 (xen-bridge), and can accces the network properly. I can also login to the VMs with ssh with no issue. However when I ping any of the VMs, there is a high amount of periodic packet drop. If I the ping the xen host (dom0) there is no packet drop. Following is a output of "tcpdump | grep ICMP" on dOM0 while I was pinging one of the domU tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 65535 bytes 05:19:55.682493 IP ABTS-North-Dynamic-226.X.X.122.airtelbroadband.in > web.mydomain.com: ICMP echo request, id 3460, seq 30, length 64 05:19:56.691144 IP • IPv6 multicast addresses: Is the Group ID field effectively 112 bits or 32 bits?

    - by Jeremy Friesner
Hi all, I'm trying to understand the rules for choosing an IPv6 multicast address Group ID, and the RFC seems somewhat inconsistent. For example, in RFC 2373 section 2.7 this diagram is shown: | 8 | 4 | 4 | 112 bits | +------ -+----+----+---------------------------------------------+ |11111111|flgs|scop| group ID | +--------+----+----+---------------------------------------------+ ... but then in section 2.7.2 it shows this: | 8 | 4 | 4 | 80 bits | 32 bits | +------ -+----+----+---------------------------+-----------------+ |11111111|flgs|scop| reserved must be zero | group ID | +--------+----+----+---------------------------+-----------------+ So my question is, are the upper 80 bits of the Group ID field usable or not? If they are usable, is it only under certain circumstances (e.g. when using non-Ethernet networking technology?) What problems should I expect to experience if I set these bits when multicasting over an Ethernet LAN?

  • Is There a Good Pattern for Creating a Unique Id based on a Type?

    - by Michael Kelley
I have a template that creates a unique identifier for each type it is instanced. Here's a streamlined version of the template: template <typename T> class arType { static const arType Id; // this will be unique for every instantiation of arType<>. } // Address of Id is used for identification. #define PA_TYPE_TAG(T) (&arType<T >::Id) This works when you have an executable made purely of static libraries. Unfortunately we're moving to an executable made up of dlls. Each dlls could potentially have its own copy of Id for a type. One obvious solution is to explicitly instantiate all instances of arType. Unfortunately this is cumbersome, and I'd like to ask if anyone can propose a better solution?

  • Can we add new attribute or change type of existing attribute to a "Referenced Element"?

    - by JSteve
    In my XML schema I have an element being referenced tens of times by other elements but with different enumerated values for one of its attribute. For now, instead of creating this element in global space and referencing it later, I am creating a new instance wherever it is needed. This approach has increased my schema size enormously because of repeated creation of almost same element many times. It also may have adverse effect on efficiency of the schema. The only way that I see is to create element once and then reference it many times but my problem is: one of the attribute of this referenced element is required to have a different set of enumerations for each referencing element. My question is: Is it possible to to add an attribute to a "Referenced Element" in XML Schema? Something like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.myDomain.com" xmlns="http://www.myDomain.com" elementFormDefault="qualified"> <xs:simpleType name="myValues1"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="value1" /> <xs:enumeration value="value2" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> <xs:element name="myElement"> <xs:complexType mixed="true"> <xs:attribute name="attr1" type="xs:string" /> <xs:attribute name="attr2" type="xs:string" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:element name="MainElement1"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="myElement"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="myAtt" type="myValues1" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="mainAtt1" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> Or can we change type of an existing attribute of a "Referenced Element" in XML Schema? something like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.myDomain.com" xmlns="http://www.myDomain.com" elementFormDefault="qualified"> <xs:simpleType name="myValues1"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="value1" /> <xs:enumeration value="value2" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> <xs:simpleType name="myValues2"> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="value3" /> <xs:enumeration value="value4" /> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> <xs:element name="myElement"> <xs:complexType mixed="true"> <xs:attribute name="attr1" type="xs:string" /> <xs:attribute name="attr2" type="xs:string" /> <xs:attribute name="myAtt" type="myValues1" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> <xs:element name="MainElement1"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element ref="myElement"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="myAtt" type="myValues2" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="mainAtt1" /> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema>

  • yahoo's attribute exchange -> blank data is coming

    - by Gaurav Sharma
Hello everybody, I am trying to build openid login system for my website. To do this I used JanRain's php openid library v 2.1.3. I am also using openid selector to select the openid provider from the list. I first created the attributes array that I need to fetch from the provider as follows: $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/contact/email',2,1, 'email'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/first',1,1, 'firstname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/last',1,1, 'lastname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson',1,1, 'fullname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/friendly',1,1, 'username'); $ax = new Auth_OpenID_AX_FetchRequest; foreach($attribute as $attr) { $ax-add($attr); } $auth_request-addExtension($ax); and in the finish_auth.php file I wrote this to fetch the attributes returned $ax = new Auth_OpenID_AX_FetchResponse(); $obj = $ax-fromSuccessResponse($response); Google gives me all the attributes requested but yahoo doesn't (as stated here that yahoo now supports attribute exchange). Is there any limitation set by yahoo on attribute exchange too. (they give limited websites access to sreg extension of openid). :( Please help me, I am stuck over here. Thanks

  • How can I do a bulk caller ID lookup (reverse phone lookup) on a list of phone numbers?

    - by rob
I have a tab-delimited text file with all of the phone numbers I've called or received calls from in the past year. The phone numbers are all based in the US, so the format is ###-###-####. For tax purposes, I need to know which calls were personal and which ones were business-related. I could enter them all one-by-one into Google, but that will take forever because there are hundreds of numbers to check. Is there a program, MS Office plugin, or website that I can use to look up all of the numbers at once? If not, is there some way to create an Excel macro to do the lookups for me?
