  • Exchange can't send emails with attachments

    - by Jack
No one in our organization can send emails with attachments. Emails without attachments go through fine, but if an attachment is included, an error appears in the Server Failures folder under Sync Issues. The error is "The following message had an error and synchronization of it was skipped (0xc0090081)". We are using Symantec Mail Security, which we shut down to try to troubleshoot the problem, and now that fails to load. Any ideas as to what to check? I'm sorry I don't have more complete information, but I'm helping someone try to figure this out. I'm not the admin myself. Thanks.

  • Exchange 2010 SP2 OWA performance

    - by Frederik Nielsen
How do I increase performance in OWA 2010 SP2? I am running CAS on a seperate installation, which has 8GB RAM and 4 CPU cores - running virtualized in a vmware environment. However, the load times are pretty bad, so is there any way to improve those? I am thinking of installing a linux cache-stuff-server in front of the OWA, but will that work? And how should it be done? Allright, I "fixed" it - was just something temporary issue. Thanks for your replies

  • Exchange Server 2007 Transport Errors -- SMTP Session Hangs

    - by devviedev
Hello, I was doing some changes to the server (writing an Transport Agent). After trying to install it, I started to get some errors. Now, when connecting to the SMTP server the session hangs just after finishing the DATA section. I'm not sure what happened, I disabled my transport agent and uninstalled it, then restarted the server. The problem persists. In the Event Viewer, four of the same errors show up: Source: FSCTransportScanner Category: Scan Error Event ID: 5021 Description: Unable to retrieve internet monitor interface. What could have happened?

  • Exchange 2003 and Outlook rule: Send auto reply message not working

    - by Mestika
I have created a distributed group which have to send a auto reply when receiving a mail. I know that it is impossible to send a auto reply within a distributed group, but following a guide I have created a mail account called “noreply”. In outlook I have created a rule in the “noreply” account where I chose following conditions: Send to a person or distributed list (where I selected my distributed group) Then to specify what to do with that message I selected Have server reply using a specific message I’ve created my message and saved it. But when I try to write an e-mail to the distributed group it doesn’t send back the reply message. Does anyone knows what I’m doing wrong? Sincerely Mestika

  • Exchange 2010 Cmdlets for Sent Items in a Distribution group

    - by Jimmy Jones
Here is the scenario that I am in and am stuck on how to get this the correct way. What I'm looking for is a syntax that will provide me with statistics on what users have emailed "Sent" for the day. I would like to know get information on what all users of a specific distribution group has emailed for the day. I have tried the following to no avail. Get-Mailbox | Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -FolderScope SentItems | Where {$_.ItemsInFolder -gt 0} | -Start "06/14/2012 9:00AM" -End "06/14/2012 5:00PM" | Sort-Object -Property ItemsInFolder -Descending | select-object Identity,ItemsInFolder | export-csv c:\test.txt Get-MessageTrackingLog -Start "06/14/2012 9:00AM" -End "06/14/2012 5:00PM" -Sender "" | measure-object - This one will only work on specified users, but I need to check the whole group. If anyone could help me out. Thank you!!!

  • Exchange - inbound email only works from some servers

    - by Kryptonite
    I am having a problem where inbound mail from outside only works when sent from certain hosts. For example, when I send myself an email from my personal gmail account all is well, as the logs show: 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 EHLO 250 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 STARTTLS 220 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 STARTTLS 220 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 EHLO 250 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 MAIL 250 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:16 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 RCPT 250 - - 2012-09-05 18:14:48 209.85.223.175 mail-ie0-f175.google.com SMTPSVC1 MAILSVR 192.168.1.79 0 QUIT 240 - - However, if I sent from my personal Yahoo account, I get this response: Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address. <[email protected]>: Remote host said: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first [MAIL_FROM] (NB: Nothing appeared in the smtp log for this message.) • OOF (Out of Office) is not working for remote users (Outlook Anywhere)

    - by Doughecka
I'm not sure how long this issue has been happening, but recently a few of the remote sales users were going to a sales meeting and wanted to set their Out of Office... however in Outlook 2010, they get this error message: "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" When I run the Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer, Autodiscover completes fine, but the next step fails: Exception details: Message: The request failed. The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. Type: Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ServiceRequestException Stack trace: at Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ServiceRequestBase.GetEwsHttpWebResponse(IEwsHttpWebRequest request) at Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.MultiResponseServiceRequest`1.Execute() at Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ExchangeService.BindToFolder[TFolder](FolderId folderId, PropertySet propertySet) at Microsoft.Exchange.Tools.ExRca.Tests.EnsureEmptyFolderTest.PerformTestReally() Exception details: Message: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. • Exchange 2010 setup /prepareAD fails to run

    - by MadBoy
I've tried installing Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (only domain controller and all-in-one system). I did setup.exe /prepareAD, setup /prepareSchema and it worked fine the first time I did it. Unfortunately due to problem with Hub Transport installation related to (at least from what I've read) IPv6 being disabled (some say disabling it helped them while some enabling helped them). I did it the proper way by using registry entry to disable IPv6 but it still errored out. So i managed to uninstall everything (renamed some old entries in registry of failed Hub Transport roles and tried to reinstal Exchange after rebooting server. Unfortunetly running setup /prepareAD now gives an error: D:setup /PrepareAd Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Unattended Setup By continuing the installation process, you agree to the license terms of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. • Install Exchange 2013 with DSC

I tried to install Exchange 2013 with the resource windowsProcess in existing Exchange Configuration. All prerequisites are installed (the Exchange Organization still exists). This is my Resource section: WindowsProcess Exchange2013 { Credential=$credential Path= "C:\Sources\Cumulative Update 5 for Exchange Server 2013 (KB2936880)\Setup.exe" Arguments= "/mode:Install /role:Mailbox /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /TargetDir:C:\EX2013" Ensure= "Present" } #End Filter } #End Node } # End configuration /* @TargetNode='TargetDSC02' @GeneratedBy=exadmin @GenerationDate=08/02/2014 08:16:03 @GenerationHost=SOURCEDSC02 */ instance of MSFT_Credential as $MSFT_Credential1ref { Password = "Password1"; UserName = "S05\\Exadmin"; }; Exadmin is a member of Orgaganization Management Group and it is also member of Domain Admin Group, to be able to install Exchange When I execute this resource , Exchange Installation Start but after 1 minute the installation stops with this error: Failed [Rule:GlobalServerInstall] [Message:You must be a member of the 'Organization Management' role group or a member of the 'Enterprise Admins' group to continue.] To be sure that the right is really the problem I create a special User with only Administrator right of the Exchange server and with no Exchange Permission I run manually on the new Exchange server .\Setup.exe /mode:Install /role:Mailbox /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /Targetdir:C:\EX2013 And I got the Same error that with DSC. After I add my test user in the Organization Management Group and I run again manually .\Setup.exe /mode:Install /role:Mailbox /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /Targetdir:C:\EX2013 And the Exchange 2013 installation finish without any error. That prove that the problem with DSC is Permission right.

  • exchange server 2010 with multiple domains

    - by air
i have one exchange server 2010, which is working fine with one domain. my exchange is working as follows pop3 collector collect emails from one master catchall account and then deliver to exchange server, this working perfect. now what i want to add another domain to same exchange, i have added new domain as trusted domain & email policy and this new domain email account works fine with internal emails. now what i have done, i again forward new email account to same catchall account. but if i send email from any other external email address email is bounce, i can see email receive by pop3 collector but bounce by exchange server. to make you more clear let me explain logic on which i am working. i have 2 domains 1. domain1.com ([email protected]) 2. domain2.com ([email protected] -->[email protected]) now on my machine with exchange server i have pop3 collector which collect all emails from [email protected] and forward to exchange 2010 server. all emails to domain1.com is working perfect but when i send email to [email protected] this email redirect to [email protected] perfectly but when exchanger server receive this email, it bounce. i have also study the url link text and follow the whole process but no success. i also check that my DNS/MX is working fine as the bounce message is going from my exchange server. EDIT the only problem is with accepted domain, as email come to exchange server then bounce back. i just try this today i create one user called test, then i goto his properties -- email there was only one email account [email protected] i try to send email to [email protected] from internet (email bounce) then again i go to test user properties -- email and Add one email [email protected] again u try to send email to t*[email protected]* from internet (email received) i think the only problem is with accepted domain but in hub transport , it shows accepted is there any way to check does domain is properly accepted or not in exchange 2010 server. Thanks

  • How to make Exchange 2010 use In-Reply-To and References headers as well as Thread-Index?

    - by Paul Wagland
The problem that I have is simple. We have recently upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. Everything went fine, and there are very few complaints. In Exchange 2003, some of our OWA users liked the Threading view, these users love the conversations view, especially with the cross-mailbox threading. The problem is that some of these users are now complaining that old e-mails that they got from systems like bugzilla were migrated across correctly threaded, but the new e-mails are not being correctly threaded. If I look at the mail source using an IMAP client then I can see that all of the mails that are turning up as being threaded have the (Microsoft specific) Thread-Index header, and the mails that are not getting grouped do not have this header. The question is, how can I make the webmail client respect the normal threading? That is, is there a way to Make the OWA client use the standard In-Reply-To and References headers, or Make Exchange generate the Thread-Index headers for Outlook and OWA to use?

  • How to host Exchange mailboxes for another organisation outside of domain?

    - by Jon
We have a branch office out in another country who currently have their own domain and AD and Exchange Server. We want to look at hosting their Exchange mailboxes so that we can improve presence information through the use of Calenders etc. Whats the best way to do this? Simple VPN connection? Or is there a way to for them to keep their own Exchange Server and mailboxes but view and edit our calenders?

  • How to move Exchange 2003 mailbox or store from 2003 to 2007 on separate networks?

    - by David
I have an exchange sever 2003 installed and working. I have a new exchange 2007 server on another network. The two networks are completely separate with no connection. How can I take the 2003 mailboxes and put them on the new 2007 system? The move mailbox normal option on 2007 will not be able to see the old 2003 exchange server. I was hoping I could just copy the database and mount it, but this doesnot seem to work. Thanks

  • How to migrate exchange 2007 (sherweb) to Google Apps?

    - by Yoffe
I need to migrate our Sherweb.com exchange 2007 services to a Google Apps account. For the process I am really not sure.. I understand I should start with creating aliases for all email accounts within the exchange server, in Google Apps, and here I'm not sure how am I supposed to explain the Exchange that the DNS have changed without losing emails.'' Second thing is: How can I safely move the up-to 3GB mailboxes from the Exchange server to the new Google Apps accounts? Must it be with Outlook data files? If so, how do I actually upload the data files into the Google Apps account? And if not, what would be a proper way to do so? Would really appreciate any kind of help.

  • Can a Windows Domain play along with a Hosted Exchange service?

    - by benzado
I'm setting up a computer network for a small (10-20 people) company. They are currently using a Hosted Exchange service they are totally happy with. Other than that, they are starting from scratch (office doesn't even have furniture yet). They will need some kind of file sharing server set up in their office. If I set up a machine as a file server and nothing more, users will have three passwords to deal with: local machine, file server, and email. If I set up a Domain Controller, identities for local machine and file server will be the same. But what about the Hosted Exchange server? Must the users have a separate email password, or is it possible to combine the two? (I realize it might depend on the specific hosting provider, but is it possible?) If not, it seems like I have these options: Deal with it: users have a separate email password. Host Exchange on the local server: more than they want to manage in-house? Purchase a hosted VPS, make it part of the domain, and host Exchange there. (Or can/should a VPS be a domain controller?) I realize I have a lot of questions in there. The main one: is there any reason to use a Hosted Exchange service if I'm setting up other Windows services?

  • Is there a way to set up message moderation in Exchange 2007?

    - by Nate Pinchot
Is there a way to get a feature in Exchange 2007 similar to message moderation in Exchange 2010 through the use of third party tools or otherwise? I've Googled things like "exchange 2007 outbound email approval" to no avail. We are working on getting Exchange 2010 implemented but I need an interim solution if at all possible. The reason for this is from a customer service perspective. I am willing to use a small process to be a smart host if needed. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. Edit: My apologies, I should have been more clear that I am trying to moderate/approve outgoing email from certain users, not moderate/approve email sent to a distribution group.

  • Updating to Exchange 2013 - any way to do it now?

    - by TomTom
Exchange 2013 is out, available for some epople already. Got if from the VLC Center, now trying to get an upgrade path that works for some customers. Problem: There is no upgrade. It is "install on new Server, move mailboxes. This means coexistence with Exchagne 2010 for the time to move the Mailbox. Sadly the only compatible Exchange is Exchange 2010 Sp3 - which is not going to be bout for quite some time. Any way to still do an update? Backup, restore to new Server? Any beta of the SP that is good enough to ONLY move the mailboxes? I do not care about the rest - this really is "install Exchange 2013, move mailboxes, UNINSTALL 2010". I am quite - ah - unhappy that at the end the only one who will be able to intall 2013 are new companies right now.

  • Trouble getting email attachment from Exchange

    - by JimR
    I am getting the error message “The remote server returned an error: (501) Not Implemented.” when I try to use the HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() using the GET Method to get an email attachment from exchange. I have tried to change the HttpVersion and don’t think it is a permissions issue since I can search the inbox. I know my credentials are correct as they are used to get HREF using the HttpWebRequest.Method = Search on the inbox (https://mail.mailserver.com/exchange/testemailaccount/Inbox/). HREF = https://mail.mailserver.com/exchange/testemailaccount/Inbox/testemail.EML/attachment.csv Sample Code: HttpWebRequest req = (System.Net.HttpWebRequest) HttpWebRequest.CreateHREF); req.Method = "GET"; req.Credentials = this.mCredentialCache; string data = string.Empty; using (WebResponse resp = req.GetResponse()) { Encoding enc = Encoding.Default; if (resp == null) { throw new Exception("Response contains no information."); } using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream(), Encoding.ASCII)) { data = sr.ReadToEnd(); } }

  • Exchange 2007 - GetUserAvailability over 128 mailboxes?

    - by Jeff V
When making a GetUserAvailability call passing in 128 mailboxs Exchange 07 returns an EmailAddressArray error stating the allowed size of the array is 100. Is there a way to increase the array size beyond 100, so that Exchange 07 returns with a GetUserAvailablity request? I'm currently getting the following error: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Microsoft.Exchange.InfoWorker.Common.Availability.IdentityArrayTooBigException: There are too many target users in the EmailAddress array. The allowed size = 100; the actual size = 128. ---> There are too many target users in the EmailAddress array. The allowed size = 100; the actual size = 128.

  • Importing PSTs with PowerShell in Exchange 2010 SP1

Unless you use Red Gate's PST Importer, the import and export of PST files with Exchange 2010 is a complex and error-prone business. Microsoft have acknowledged this in the release of Exchange 2010 SP1, since they have now re-engineered the way that PSTs are handled to try and ease the pain of importing and exporting them, but it is still a matter of using Powershell with cmdlets, rather than a GUI. Jaap Wesselius takes a look at the new process.
